Satellite U305 No power, battery light flashes

My U305 no longer powers up. Whether battery plugged in or not, battery light flashes and nothing else happens.

Hallo Michael
There must be some serious issue with power supply electronic. If there is serious problem with power supply the notebook sends hexadecimal code and this code can help technicians to identify the problem.
I am afraid there is nothing you can do about it so please contact nearest authorized service provider and ask for help.

  • Satellite A500 - Battery light flashes when connected to mains power

    Win 7 Satellite A500 PSAM3A-03P00E.
The battery light flashes when connected to mains power (intermittent fault), when I unplug mains and re-connect flashing stops and battery (high capacity) continues to charge.
Also when battery light flashes the key board back lighting stays on when it should blank out and if the back lighting is off and the battery light starts flashing the key board back lighting doesn't turn on, all other functions seem to work fine.
The battery charges and holds charge as it should (when light flashes battery doesn't charge).

    Hi
Did you notice this issue from first day of purchase?
Theoretically it could be possible that your battery starts to malfunction
At the other hand an electronic issue might be possible too
    However, try this:
Remove ac adaptor and battery. Then press and hold power buttons 30 sec long.
Then insert the battery and connect AC adaptor again does it helps?
By the way: is BIOS up to date? If not, perform an update.

  • NX6325 won't power up - battery light flashes 8 times

I have a 3 year old NX6325 that won't power up any more.
It makes no difference whether the charger is plugged in or not.
When I turn it on the battery light flashes 8 times (amber) and that's it. Nothing else happens.
Does anybody know what this means?
    Regards,
    Julian.

It is very likely your Northbridge chipset is gone.
The CPU could not make connection to the Northbridge to initiate the any data transfer from the Southbridge ( connected to all your low level devices such as Hard Drive, USB ports, Optical Driver and etc ) to fetch the BIOS content to start the POST ( Power On Self Test ) sequence.
It could also mean your CPU could be bad.

All fixed, the earth contact in the power jack was bent down allowing intermittent contact and limiting current. I bent the contact back up to where it should be and all is good.

  • T61 Battery light flashes red and green

    Hello:
My T61(type 8891) won't start. I'm getting a series of flashes from the battery and power lights:
A/C power connected: power light flashes green alternately and battery light flashes green then red/green.
AC off, battery installed: power light flashes green at the same time as the battery light flashes red/green.
This happened twice before in the past 2 weeks. After about an hour, it booted up - no problem. This time, nothing.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

It started about one month ago - no known cause. The problem happened 3 times since then but each time it booted up by itself  after a half hour or so. A new motherboard is going to set me back plenty but f it's needed, I guess I must get it repaired. I'm quite handy at taking the laptop apart. I've replaced the hinge, and bezel.
Maybe the fan is inoperable which may cause it to not boot up. Lately, I've been feeling exhaust air much warmer than before even if it's not being used. I blew the dust off it 3 weeks ago.

  • Laptop won't turn on - the power adapter light flashes three times? G62 b29SA

I've been replacing the fan in my friend's laptop. I had a problem with the trackpad not working after I put it back together and that problem is not yet resolved but I have another problem preventing me from getting further. Now when I press the on button, the power adapter light (next to the socket for the external power) flashes three times and that's all. It flashes again three times every time I press the power button. It does this even with an external power source plugged in (I'm pretty sure that it's supposed to just stay on constantly when the charger is plugged in but the power source I have is a universal one set to 19 V - it has powered up with this plugged in before but I don't know whether it was taking charge from it). Any advice?

I got the charger from my friend and now it boots up just fine. There seem to be many meanings to the three flashes based on my Internet searches but in this case it appears that it's some way of indicating a low battery.

Glad I got it going, I did some checking on power supplies and there is/are a lot of reccomendations. I have a 9290 Desktop. Any suggestions, thanks again
    You are very welcome, again.
I have a preference for Corsair Products.  I suggest a PSU of at least 500W; 600 is even better.  Modular is a good way to go in smaller mid-size cases.  You only have to use the cables that are needed to connect a component.  This allows for more space for good airflow.

  • U510 won't turn on, battery light flashes twice when plugged in then nothing

My ideapad u510 is dead. It won't turn on and no power. The only indicator i get is sometimes when inserting the power adapter the battery indicator light will flash twice amber then turn off. Is this an error code of some sort or is the adapter shot and just not charging or powering up the computer?

    Hi Citrineaux,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with system not powering on in your Lenovo U510 laptop.
Try to connect with different adapter and check for the issue. Also connect the external monitor to check if the issue is no power or no display. Check if you are able to hear the windows login sound.
As this model has the inbuilt battery, please try to power on by reset button or novo button.
Hope this helps. Do post back if issue persists!
    Best regards,

  • Power adaptor light flashing orange to green

starting this morning my power adaptor seems to have an issue. the light keeps flashing back and forth bewteen orange and green. and therefore the computer wont really charge. it will operate plugged in this way though.
last week part of my cord did get damaged. the little bumpy part right next to the plug that goes into the computer. the first little bump of the three somehow came off. there does not seem to be a hole or tear in the cord under where it was though.
what purpose does that section serve? is that what is causing my problem?
    any ideas?
my computer is one year and one month old, grrrr no longer under waranty...
    ~ michelle

    Hi Michelle,
Given the sloppy design of the iBook, including its power adapter, I would suggest you bite the bullet and buy a new adapter. Otherwise your iBook's DC board may be damaged.
Resetting the PMU helps, as does unplugging both ends of the pwr adapter, waiting for at least 1 minute and plugging it back in. BUT, since you're sure the cable is broken, GET A NEW ONE!
I had a similar problem with my power adapter for my 3-month old iBook, except that the light would suddenly not turn green at all. The cord and the rest of the adapter were intact. I was lucky I still had 7 months of warranty left and got a new adapter from Apple. So far everything is ok.
    Good luck, Michelle!

  • My macbook pro wont power up, light flashes if i hold power button continuously

my macbook pro won't power up, if i hold power button down continuously i get a flashing light (by the clasp), i'm thinking this is probably a hard drive issue.  anyone have any idea what the problem is?

    Hi je339999,
Exactly which model is your MacBook Pro? The problem you're having sounds similar to what is mentioned here -http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377
However, it's possible that it's something else as well. Are you near an Apple Store or Apple Certified Service Center? It's probably worth it at this point to bring it for additional triage.

  • Battery light flashing when AC is connected

Has anyone experienced this?  It seems that there is a bad connection with the AC Adapter but I'd rather not send it in if I can help it. I have replaced the hard drive so I'm rather fearful of being stuck
I dont think an SSD could effect this as i've had the drive in for almost 3 months with nothing but great performance. What do you all think?

It is actually both the "mains power" and (with some delay) the "battery" icons flickering (the latter sometimes turning red even though it should be blue as per the full charge status. This seems to be due to the plug of the AC-200 power supply /charger shipped with type RX-72 Booklet 3Gs which is NOT making proper contact, being longer than the socket's depth and having all-too-literal radial "wiggle room" (as if of insufficient diameter) at least on the units of several reviewers at http://hukd.mydealz.de/deals/ebay-wow-nokia-booklet-3g-349-euro-versandkostenfrei/8751#un96854 - moreover I have heard one of these netbooks (not just the PSU itself) make a high-pitch hissing sound (as from switching PSU or LED backlight transformer coils) only while the mains charger is plugged into the Booklet 3G. In fact it needs to be firmly plugged in to make contact at all, but it just does not fit tightly into its wider than expected socket - actually whatever little vibrations are caused probably by the slow hard disk suffice to disconnect the plug and drain the battery after a few hours unattended in an empty room. I do very much hope that this is just a problem of the charger rather than an engineering defect in the Booklet itself, and that Nokia will indeed take the opportunity to offer me another one with a better plug to try.

  • Dumb question: Firmware update vs. "power indicator light"

Software Update says I need the EFI Firmware Update 1.3.
    OK.
But the related doc (Article 303364) says about restarting: "Hold down the power button until the the power indicator light flashes, then release it."
Power indicator light? I must have missed that.
So... how long should I hold down the power button? Until I hear the "long tone" that's mentioned? Or what?

Chill out amigo. That is not what the instructions say in the Apple document referred to by the EFI update download page.
iMac EFI Firmware Update 1.3, which refers one to Apple article 303364 About firmware updates for Intel-based Macs, where step 6 states
Hold down the power button until the power indicator light flashes, then release it. A long tone will be heard, then a gray screen with an Apple logo appears. There is a progress bar under the logo. As the progress bar moves, your firmware is being updated.
There may be an error in the way the information was written, but neither the OP nor I, with my ESL, misread the document. I have read a few of your posts lately. They have a snippy know-it-all tone. The Apple Discussions are user to user help. There are no stupid questions here. Calm down and be nice to folks, please.
