Satellite U500 - Is it available with backlit keyboard?

Hi,
I've tried to call someone from Toshiba in Poland but here's no person to ctc...
maybe someone here will know when U500 with backlit keyboard will be avail. on Polish market??

It is not easy to get such info. You know it is marketing decision which models will be offered on certain market.
What you can do is to check official Toshiba Poland page and check which models will be available in your country. I believe in the future Toshiba will offer more and more models and I can imagine U500 with keyboard back-light will be offered in the future.
Try to contact someone from Toshiba department in your country. If someone has info about that this must be the right address.

HP Denmark refuses to deliver a 6580W with backlit keyboard arguing that it is not for sale in Europe except in case of very big deals. Have any of you any experience as this detail goes?
I am getting more and more unhappy with presales information, not phoneable any longer and on mail they just provide general answers and links.

I have the same problem. I purchased a HP Elitebook 8560W in Italy. Then I tried to buy separately a Backlit Italian Keyboard from various Spare Parts ( officially listed on HP website ) and no one of them could supply this keyboard ( HP part number 652683-061 - from HP Tech Support web site ). I tried to contact HP in USA and in Italy, but no way. They said to me to contact Spare Parts suppliers in Italy. HP did not confirm to me if the Backlit Keyboard is available or not.
Really I am not happy at all.
If anyone know how how to fidn this Backlit keyboard, please, inform me here.

Yoga with Backlit keyboard..........in future?

Hi, I want to know if Lenovo has any plan to bring its Yoga with backlit keyboard in future. If so, then I will purchase Yoga in future.
Even every mobile set has backlit keyboard, then why does not Yoga have backlit keyboard? It's 2012 now......

This generation of Yoga 13 may not implement backlit keyboard since it need hardware and mechanical update, not easy to do so. I think Yoga2 would think about it.

Error with backlit keyboard

Hi guys.
I recently have some problems with my Macbook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012)
The keyboard light is turned off and I can't adjust the light brightness of this because F5 & F6 doesn't work.
I go to System Preferences> Keyboard and I can't find any option about illuminated keyboard, just disappeared of my mac.
I recently installed Lab Trick to see if I can manually use the light settings on the keyboard, but it shows me the following error "Your Macintosh does not seem to have any available backlit keyboard."
I tried resetting SMC, PRAM. But the problem continues.
I haven't opened the mac yet.
There will be some sensor cable disconnected?
Will be necessary to carry warranty?

I have the same Macbook Pro as you, and here is a picture of my Keyboard settings.
I don't know why the bottom part of yours is blank. Maybe you can try this. Check the box for Use all F1, F2, etc. and then use the fn key on your keyboard together with F6 to see if it will bring up the brightness.
Has your System Prefs Keyboard settings always been like this?

Keyboard with backlight feature is available in few layouts, the part number would be similar to 698951-xxx.
You can look in through page 25 & 61 in this manual and know the exact part number:

Satellite U500 - No Synaptics options with Windows 7

Hello everyone,
After I did a clean install of Windows 7 Pro 32 bit on my Satellite U500, I no longer get any options in the Synaptics touchpad control panel.
All I get is an overview menu and the animated demo, but nothing else (no scroll zone control, no tap sensitivity control or accidental touch function, etc.)
I used to have a full slew of controls with the pre-installed Vista.
I uninstalled, downloaded and reinstalled the driver from the Synaptics website several times, to no avail. Is there a solution for this?

I should tell you guys that since then, I did a clean install of the 64-bit version of W7Pro (which I should've done since the beginning, since all the available drivers for my wife's U500 are 64-bit anyway), and - with possibly one exception (thread coming shortly) - *everything is working just fine.*
What I found is that the aforementioned horizontal scroll function seems to work with every application +except+ Firefox!
Which is fine, really, so I'm not too worried about it now.

Satellite P750-13F - How to enable backlit keyboard on Windows 8

today i installed Windows 8 premium on my P750-13F, which has a backlit keyboard. In order to upgrade to Windows 8 I had to uninstall some Toshiba drivers and other programs.
Now I have Windows 8 fully functional, but I don't know how to access to the FN button functions (Screen brightness, wifi on/off, volume up/down).
Now that that FN-button is innoperative the function that I miss the most is the one for keyboard illumination, because I can still do everything else by some other ways (I mean volume up/down, screen brightness etc.) but i don't know how to illuminate the keyboard now.
I tried installing Toshiba Hardware Setup Utility, but it won't install with Windows 8. I don't really care much if the FN-button remains innoperative (although it would be nice if it wouldn't) but what I really want is to be able to change the keyboard illumination.
I will be very thankfull for any ideas.

Toshiba need time to prepare and test the Windows 8 drivers so you need to wait a while.

You need the Toshiba Value Added Package for Win8 & P750, and possibly the Flashcards support utility as well.

Replacing Nonbacklit Keyboard with Backlit Keyboard

I am considering replacing a nonbacklit keyboard with a backlit keyboard on a T530. The hardware maintenance manual does not seem to show any difference between replacing nonbacklit or backlit keyboards. The size and dimensions of each keyboard should be the same but I am concerned about possibly different connectors. Has anybody tried it?

I did the upgrade on a T430 and it was plug and play, not difference in connectors.

What is your Product Number? That will tell us what hardware and we can locate the service manual to see if it backlit keyboard or not.

How to order 2.0Ghz MacBook with Backlit keyboard?

How come we can't order the Backlit keyboard on the baseline (2.0Ghz) MacBook?
I mean I'd be willing to pay a little more for that option.
I find it extremely disappointing that it would cost me $350 more to get the backlit keyboard (where I won't be using the power the higher end MacBook has).

I agree - but this was an obvious MISTAKE on Apple's website, and not intentional.
Other country sites (Apple German site for example) had it correct all the way. The US store was just faulty. They have fixed that overnight. I would argue, you get good stuff for the extra $300 other than the backlighting, and I assume that investment will carry you a few years. In which case I'd call and have them upgrade your order to the higher end one. If you are nice, they might give you a discount, if you explain the situation (quite common).

Problem with backlit keyboard.

I'v had my 2.4ghz macbook for a just about a month now, and everything has been fine. Today I noticed that my keyboard wasn't lit up, so i go to turn up the brightness and the icon pops up but it's not adjusting, and the keyboard stays dim.
I am wondering if this is a software or a hardware issue, and if there is something i can do to fix it.

I actually have the same problem. The keyboard doesn't light up automatically, and the function keys won't work even if everything is checked properly in System Preferences. I downloaded Lab Tick and it works, but it's annoying that the keyboard still doesn't light up and that I can't adjust the light using F5 and F6.
