Satellite U500: Volume + button stick ON when connected to AC adaptor

I have a problem with the touch buttons on my U500. I have already returned the first notebook I bought for exchange.
The issue is as follows:
When the power cord is plugged in (regardless if connected to the wall) the "Volume +" button will stick ON.
The volume will then continue to increase, it can not be muted or turned down as the + continues to repeat.
Without the power cord inserted the buttons works as expected (normally).
I have done fresh install from recovery disks - Not fixed (running Vista)
Then another fresh install and Win7 upgrade this new PC is having the same problem.
At first I had assumed a hardware fault (the new PC did work fine for a while).
But now the second PC has the identical symptoms I suspect a software/driver issue.
I have seen some suggestion for similar issues to:
Re-install "Toshiba Common Modules" but I can't find this on the support site for U500 in Australia.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all.

Bios was ver 1.4 , upgrading to ver 1.6 appears to have fixed the problem.
I hadn't updated the bios as the support site for Win 7 doesn't list the bios.
Although the "standard" downloads page does.

Volume button making sound when pressed

When I press my volume buttons, a loud popping/clicking noise happens with each press. It shows the volume adjusting on my screen, but I can't get this cracking noise to stop. Help?

Sorry that the suggestion did not work.
You can revert back to the preference selection as it it was before the change.
System Preferences > Sound > Sound Effects
Checkmark the box next to "Play feedback when volume is changed".
You may have to take the computer to the Apple store to have it checked out.

Slight Buzz/Hum When Connected To Mains Adaptor

My MacBook is making a slight buzz/hum at the top left of the keyboard (by the esc key) when connected to the mains adaptor. It seems to be in the area of where there the magsafe connector is. Assume its the power 'board' or whatever its called making the noise.
The buzz seems to come and go, especially when the hard disk is accessed.
Just wondered if anyone ekse has experienced this or if I should be raising a support call as the MacBook is only a month old.

I believe it's a CPU whine you're refering to. Try
opeining Photo Booth and see if the noise stops.
The noise is still there.
I've reset the SMC as well.
The noise is only slightly noticeable and ONLY there with the power adptor connected.

Button changes style when connected to Application Manager

I've connected the standard axButtons to the application manager in a custom OI built in CSharp using Visual Studio 2008. When I run the OI, the buttons change from the standard style (rounded edges, etc.) to what looks like a classic style (squared edges, no color gradient, etc.). At first I thought this might be a limitation of CSharp, but when I ran the executable CSharp UI (shipped with Teststand), the buttons look correct. Is there a reference that I've not added or something? I've followed (pretty much copied) the code found in the full-featured CSharp UI, leaving out functions that I didn't need.
Below is the only real code involving the two buttons. It's pretty simple so I imagined it's a project property that I've setup incorrectly. I've also included the namespaces I included.

Scott, once again, thanks for your help. I've tried several things relating to this manifest file, all to no avail. First, I tried pasting the lines you mention into the <program>.vshost.exe.manifest file (the vshost file was the only manifest file that I could find, is this the correct one?)--no change. In the "Application" tab on the project properties, I can select create w/o manifest or embed manifest. I tried both, but from this point the original manifest file was deleted during the build process and did not show up anymore.
The project includes the windows common buttons as well as the teststand .NET controls. I assume this would accomplish the lines you mentioned, but I am a .NET newbie so I could be wrong there.
I've attached a 2008 C# Express project which includes no code, only a windows common button and a teststand button on a form. When I run this program, I see the same behavior. Can you take a look at this, and let me know if you see the same behavior?

After iOS5 update ring tone volume go to zero when connect to VW Passat 2011 car kit

My iPhone 4 worked greatly before iOS5 update, after that every time it'll connect to RNS315 bluetooth interface ringtone volume go to zero and i've to re-set manually to the right volume. Re-paired but no changes.
Any ideas?

Well, visited my VW dealer and they said no updates for my car based upon the VIN/Reg and whats more there is no way this is a VW issue. Something in the iO5 5 bluetooth area has changes for the worse to force this to happen. THis is an Apple issue not a VW one and they should resolve, hoped that the 5.01 would fix, but no. Come on Apple sort this problem out.

Restore as new, if that fixes the problem it is something in your settings or backup that was causing the issue.
If it does not fix the problem, you have a hardware issue.

Volume button for going down not workig?

Hi, ive tryed to restore and reset my ipod using backup, with itunes, then i tried icloud. The volume button works fine when i turn it up, but whrn i try to turn it down, it wont even appear. When i turn it off it will turn down when i turn my ipod back on, this started happening after i restored it. Before i even restored it, the voulume would go up and down by itself, so i only got some progress. on friday i dropped my ipod in the sink while the water was running, but only for a couple secs. thoug, and everything else works perfectly fine. so i put in rice overnight, but the volume was still a problem. But thr thing is, i see other people have this problem, but because of the update, so any ideas? is there anything else i could do to for the volume? please help!!!!!!!!!!
P.s. i checked inside the ipod jack thing, and its white, so i know theres no water damage. and the thing wont disappear, untill i turn up the volume, but it still stays sometimes, and disappears when i turn the volume up.

Loose volume button. help

I bought a iPad mini with retina display a couple days ago and the upper volume button slightly moves when you gently press it. My lower volume button and the off button do not do this. Is this normal?

We can't make your decision for you. If YOU feel it is a problem, then by all means, take it back and get one to replace it.

Volume buttons overruled

Some videos on internet seem to overrule my volume buttons. Even when I set the keyboard to mute. The only way to handle this seems to be muting the videoplayer.
Could it be possible to regain control over all possible sound input?

Satellite U500 - The volume buttons do not work

I just bought a Toshiba Satellite U500 two days ago, and already having problems :(
It has a touch sensitive control buttons, which includes the eco utility, media buttons, and volume control (+ and -)
The volume buttons do not work, and sometimes the computer freezes upon touching them. Once I touch the -, it keeps turning the volume down until it reaches zero, and even if I turn it up using windows, it returns to zero (like if the button is still being pressed). The + one doesn't work at all.
Please help. Any way to reinstalle their drivers ?
The only solution I found is to disable them using HWSetup...

I just had to uninstall the Toshiba Common Modules, and reinstalled them. It worked.
I hope it doesn't happen again.

When i play music on my ipad mini no sound comes out and when i use the volume button it says headphones like headphones are connected and they are not.

Hi Try a, reboot, press & hold power button & menu, button, hold both down until you see Apple Logo. Before you do Reboot, Sign out, of itunes on ipad then sign, back in this may help. Cheers Brian

My volume buttons have ceased to work when I want to use the built-in speakers, however they will work when I use my headphones....help!

This thread concerns IOS 7.1.2. update and the subsequent loss of volume button functionality and use of internal speakers.

It's not a jailbreak phone. The phone is a replacement from Apple and the volume buttons are virtually won't work for certain functions on the phone. Here are the symptoms:
When the volume buttons are pressed on the home screen i get "ringer" and the speaker symbol appear but nothing more (ie. +/- volume)
When playing back from iTunes with no headphones in, I get nothing through the internal speakers, nor do the volume buttons work, nor is the volume slider visable.
When i playback Youtube content with no headphones in, I get nothing through the internal speakers, nor do the volume buttons work, nor is the volume slider visable.
With headphones plugged in sound is audible and volume buttons work.
Whilst using voicemail, (no headphones connected) i can play the message through the speakers and control volume using side buttons.
I have restored the phone and this has not fixed the problem.

It sounds like your Volume buttons aren't working correctly and you are also not getting sound from your built in speaker. I would start by quitting all the running apps on your phone:
iOS: Force an app to close

Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the phone and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

I have a 6thgen Nano, and all the recent songs I've purchased from iTunes wont play at normal volume when connected via audio cable. Can anyone help me figure out why?

This is a semi-new problem, ongoing for several months. I've purchased songs from iTunes before and they play just fine on my Nano when connected to an audio jack cable, but for some reason, anything downloaded in the last few months plays at an insanely low volume. Normally, if I hit the advance button on the Nano to skip to the next song I'll hear a split second of the song at normal volume, but that's it.
I've restored both the iPod and my iTunes (using a Dell laptop, Windows 7) multiple times but to no avail. The songs play fine in iTunes itself, but I've even noticed a decrease in volume when listening to the songs on headphones. I'm beyond frustrated with this as I can't find any support online in the Apple archives, and I can't listen to any of my new music without burning to disc. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I have, a couple different pairs, unfortunately, and still no change. TBH, the headphones don't bug me nearly as bad as the fact that I can't plug my iPod into a radio or speaker with an audio cable and hear my latest purchases. Drives me crazy that I can't listen to my tunes!

Told me to pick it up. When I gave it to them all components were working. Said because they weren't able to fix it there was no charge. Don't understand this.

Probably when you dropped, kicked, smashed, threw, or whatever you did to break your screen it also damaged the logic board and the connections to the volume button, headphone jack and sleep button. Happens all the time. Apparently the shop you selected to work on it is not very good so take them off your shopping list.
Then go buy a 5th Generation iPod Touch.

Satellite U500-1F5: eco and FN buttons don't work after BIOS update

I hope i can find a solution for my problems in here.
I bought a new Toshiba Satellite U500 (PSU9ME),
I am updating my laptop regularly whenever i receive alert through TEMPRO or Toshiba service center.
Last week I received an alert to updat the BIOS and i did it. since then i noticed the following problems:
1. eco utility is not working, and when i tried to uninstall it it says (BIOS unsupported)
2. the on screen funtion buttons that appear on the top of the screen when you press the Fn button does not apear anymore
3. the touchpad lock and unlock button does not work and even pressing Fn+F9 doesnot lock it
I hope u can give me an answer regarding my problems,
I already downloaded the latest updates for the eco and value added packege from toshiba site and installed them,
BUT
didnt solve any of my prob
still eco utility is not working. The msg (unsupported BIOS), appear when i run the update.
The function buttons bar on the top of the screen not working ( even after i uninstall the toshiba value package and re-install the latest one) and the touch back lock/unlock button also is not working.
I hope Toshiba can find me a solution, coz I dont have the time to go the service center

Thats nice but definitely not necessary. When the system runs well, don't touch or change anything. Maybe sounds stupid now but I recommend you to remove TEMPRO from the system. Believe me you don't need it. I have 2 years old Satellite A300 and still original BIOS. It runs perfectly and I don't want to make risk and change anything. Since last month I have Satellite U500-1EX and will do the same. Tempro is already removed and I am happy with factory settings.
All you have done is OK but at least you can try to reinstall whole OS now using HDD recovery option (F8 at start-up) to see if everything will works well again. sorry but if this will not help I think you need BIOS downgrade to old version.
