Satellite U940-108 - How to configure BIOS to boot dual OS from SSD / HDD

How can i configure the BIOS to boot multi os ssd and HDD?
I want to boot from SSD one os and other os from HDD,
When i try to do it i have windows error?
Can you help me

Hi
I assume you want to install the OS (which one???) on the internal mSATA 32GB SSD?
This mSATA SSD is used for caching (hybrid boot) in order to boot Windows 8 faster.
I would recommend you to install the second OS on the HDD.
For that you should create new partition which could be used for OS installation.
Then boot from the Windows installation disk and install the 2nd OS on the new created partition.

  • How to configure OSTS to propagate user identity from OAM to OSB Service?

I have a 11.1.1.7 OAM environment and I need to protect applications and web services deployed in different domains with OAM.
I have already configured the applications security but I am having problems with the web services.
The issue is that I do not know how to protect a WS and can not find a document that explains which configurations should be done.
I think I should use OSTS but I don't know how to configure it and how to request tokens from a web service?

The truth is that your design should be done in the way that it doesn't matter which profiles in which order you will execute. At the end, if you will run all import, synch and export profiles on each data source you should get same result. This is beauty
    of synch engine here.
Your steps from 1-4 will synch data to your data sources and at the end will give you expected result. But not because of the order you are executing them but because of correct attribute flows. If flows from CSV file and from FIM portal might be done for
the same attributes you need to think also about attribute precedence.

I had Windows 7 installed on my PC and later on I have installed Oracle Linux6 (Server).
While installation I didn't get any option to configure dual boot and now I am unable to boot Windows7.
If I do fsdik -l command on Linux prompt, I get the result:

Please advise how to configure grub or other way to make the dual boot options enable and use windows and linux.
    Thanks in Advance.

Could you post your menu.lst file?
It's not clear which exact partition Windows 7 is on from fdisk -l, but you could try adding this to your menu.lst file:
    title Microsoft Windows 7
    root (hd0,1)
    savedefault
    makeactive
    chainloader +1

  • How to configure V240 auto-boot after power failure?

    Hi!
How to configure automatic boot of V240 machine after power failure? After power gets resored, V240 remains in standby mode and one has to press button on front to power it up. It is not convinient because power failure can occur, for example, at night and the machine is not booted until the first user awakens :)

Uhh... I've found publicly accessible document http://docs.sun.com/source/817-5481-11/variables.html :
Looks like this variable controls auto-power-up behaviour:
    sc_powerstatememory
The sc_powerstatememory variable enables you to specify the state of the host server as false (keep the host server off) or true (return the server to the state it was in when the power was removed). This is useful in the event of a power failure, or if you physically move the server to a different location.
For example, if the host server is running when power is lost and the sc_powerstatememory variable is set to false, the host server remains off when power is restored. If the sc_powerstatememory variable is set to true, the host server restarts when the power is restored.
The values for this variable are as follows.
true - "Remembers" the state of the host server when power was removed and returns the server to that state when power is reapplied.
false - Keeps the server off when power is applied.

  • How to start the Toshiba Ghost image files from the HDD

    Hello
Ok this is a tough one but hopefully some tech/wizz can help me out.
I have all the necessary CD Recovery disc but my Toshiba laptop CDRom has died and i'm looking for replacement at the moment.
I have managed to copy the image files and all the other info from these CD's onto the laptop hard drive via a network from my desktop cdrom. I did try to use the desktop cdrom to boot the 2.5" laptop drive but it knew it wasnt a toshiba laptop so wouldn't let me recovery.
However now I have manage to copy all the ghost image files onto the laptop hdd I'm stuck on how to run installation via dos.
The laptop hdd is formatted and all i have are the following files
    span.bmp
setenv.bat --------> batch file contains following lines
    @ECHO OFF
    SET GHOSTPAR=
    SET SWN=01237000
    SET EXT=GHO

which contains 3 extra folders BMP, DOS and TOOLS and span.bmp
I cant figure out how i can run ghost to extract and recovery my HDD can someone help me :)
    Thanks in advance
    Simon

Im really skeptical if you will be start the Toshiba ghost image files from the second partition without using the Symantec Norton Ghost software.
I have created a ghost image of the C partition and placed it on the D partition.
To recover the C partition I have to start the Ghost Utility and have to use the image file .gho from D partition
I have googled a little bit and found the useful instruction how to recover the Portege M3500 without using an CD/DVD drive. Maybe this will run also on the Sat A30.

  • Satellite A200-1DN - How to update BIOS for Windows 7

I'm running 32bit Windows 7 on a Satellite A200 1DN. I've been having battery problems (plugged in, not charging) and I understand I need to update my BIOS. However I can't find a BIOS update for Windows 7, only Vista and XP.
Can anyone help? Should I update with the Vista BIOS? Are there any other options for solving this battery problem? I've already tried an ATX reset, and uninstalling the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery.
Any advice would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ian

Theoretically, you can install Windows Vista to update Bios and return Win 7, then. Before doing, try this:
Unplug the computer from the AC adapter and turn it on. Let the computer run under battery power until the computer turns off
Remove the battery pack. Using a soft cloth, wipe off the battery packs connectors and the AC adapters connectors.
Re-insert the battery pack and plug the computer into the AC adapter
    > I've already tried an ATX reset, and uninstalling the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery.
by the way, did you have the same issue before installing Win 7?

  • Satellite P100-324: How to downgrade BIOS to version 2.40

I have the Toshiba Satellite P100-324 with BIOS version 3.30. I need to downgrade BIOS to version 2.40 because it help with stuttering problem when playing games on Windows Vista. But the problem is the version 2.40 is unavailable at Toshiba Europe website (I'm from Russia). I have found this version (one mate gave it to me), but it is for P105 models (US version).
The question is - can I use US version of BIOS 2.40 for my european P100? Is it compatible?

    Hi guys
I found this very interesting discussion and I have to clarify something.
You dont need to update the BIOS to another version to play the different games on the Vista OS.
The games couldnt run properly due to the Vista OS.
Several weeks ago Microsoft has published and hotfix which solves some problems with the Multi GPU support on Vista. It was useful for users which use the gamer computer with 2 GPUs
    http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B936710
Now the Microsoft has published and patch which solves the problems with the virtual address space usage. This was a reason why some games crashed or didnt run smoothly.

  • Satellite A665-147 - How to unlock BIOS option?

    Hello,
I have a A665-147 and i want to change cpu voltage and other things to improve my battery life.
But in the BIOS you can do nothing . I remember on my old PC you could unlock advanced mode by pressing alt+F1.
    Could anyone help me ?
Sorry for my english i'm french

There is big difference between BIOS options on desktops and notebooks. In notebook BIOS you will find pretty general options. Due to specific design and construction I presume that notebook manufacturers dont allow too much control over installed hardware. They just want to prevent eventual damage that can be caused by changing certain BIOS options.
You want to reduce power consumption but other people want to have more powerful machine.

  • How to configure SLiM to boot before terminal

Hi, I've just installed Archlinux for the first time in a while... it's been a while since I last used Arch and i'm having an issue with the following:
I used to be able to configure some tty5 stuff in a file I can't remember right now to be able to boot my computer directly into my display manager without having to see the login prompt from the terminal. I know it's kind of sillo to get bothered by something like this, but I'd really like to know if there is a way now with systemd to do the same.
PS: My computer DOES boot into SLiM without me doing anything, but I'm able to see the login prompt at the terminal for about a second before SLiM launches.

I guess you could simply create a unit that switches to VT7 (or any other VT you use for X11) early in the boot process.
    Use Exec=/bin/chvt 7
Edit: And maybe add console=tty1 to your kernel bootline.

  • Re: Satellite Pro L300 - Unable to enter BIOS or boot

I have a Satellite L300 that will not get past the POST or the Toshiba Splash Screen. It states to press F2 to enter setup or F12 for boot sequence, but pressing either button does nothing and nothing more happens --- it just stays there. the HDD activity light blinks for a few seconds and then stops.
I have tried new RAM and a different HDD, both with power connected and only battery to no avail!
    anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi jhilton0105,
Hmm I think you have already tried everything what you can do and in my opinion it seems to be a hardware malfunction. Maybe its related to mainboard, CPU, ROM module or something else
I think your notebook must be checked from professional people to get rid of this problem.
You can find a list of ASPs here:

    Good luck! :)
