Satellite U940 PSU6SA - Win 7 installation ask for HDD drivers

Hi
not sure whether to put this under 'Windows 7', Mods please move as needed.
I have a Toshiba U940 PSU6SA-02K002 ultrabook which came with Windows 8 (not Pro) and I would like to install windows 7 on it. It has a 500 GB Hitachi and a small 32GB mSATA SSD.
It is already running Toshiba's latest BIOS 1.30.
I have turned off secure boot and UEFI, can boot and start the windows 7 install from USB but it is looking for extra drivers that I can't work out. I have tried various windows 7 drivers that Toshiba had on their site for the 940 Ultrabooks but without luck. (Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver, Intel Chipset Software Utility, USB 3 driver and Intel Display Driver).
I'm unziping the drivers onto a separate USB and the install is finding them but they don't seem to be what it is looking for.
Any suggestions or a guide? Thanks

What you need is SATA driver that must be loaded before Win7 installation starts.
Please download it from here .
Ive used it to install Win7 on my U940.

  • Satellite L50 won't start up - asks for HDD password

    Hi
    hopefully someone can help me
I have a Toshiba Satellite L50 laptop and when i start it up it says
+no bootable device please restart system+
It is still under waranty as it was only bought 6 months ago.
I took it back where i bought it and they told me to contact Toshiba.
I am waiting on a call back.
I am hoping someone can help. It also asks for HDD password.
Where do I find that information?

    Hi Kym
I guess the Satellite L50 cannot find the bootable device (HDD) because the HDD has been secured with an HDD password and without this password the HDD isnt accessible and the system will not boot up properly.
Did you set such HDD password in the past?
Im asking because such password isnt set on new notebooks. Such HDD password can be set only by notebook owner
From my knowledge if you dont know such HDD password, you will not be able to get access to the HDD in such case the HDD would be useless and the data would be lost
Therefore I would recommend you to check if someone has set the HDD password on your notebook in case you dont know the password, you will need to replace the HDD and to reinstall the system once again.

  • Problem with third party installer asking for restart

    Hello,
I have a problem with software installers (not from AppStore) asking for restart (soundflower, M-Audio soundcard driver…). Gatekeeper is disabled, all is working perfectly but at the end I have a "l'installation a échoué" (installation failed) with a yellow triangle. I try to make a safe boot, make a new admin account, repair permissions… But no way!
It appends only with software installer asking for restart. Any idea?
    Thank you

Yosemite and third party SSDs not friends.  Do an Internet search for details.
I recommend that you consider reverting back to Mavericks or earlier if you wish to use your SSD.
    Ciao.

  • Why isn't the installation asking for disk 2

why isnt the installation asking for disk 2.  I have loaded disk 1 for photo shop 10 elements and the NEXT button takes me to a program maintenance screen where I am told if I proceed with the NEXT button the only indicated action is  Remove Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 from your computer.  The header on the screen is still Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 - Setup.  I have photoshop 9 on my computer.

It will only request Disc 2 if you have requested to install the Premiere Elements 10 trial.  If you do not wish to install the trial there is no need to insert disc 2.

  • Dose middle tier installation asks for the instance name?

Dose middle tier installation asks for the instance name?
If yes, should it be same as the infrastructure instance name?
    Regards,
    DN

Dose middle tier installation asks for the instance name?It should, and the name is not the same as infrastructure. Infrastructure and Midtier are different installations and different Oracle homes, in fact they could be installed on different machines.
In Application Server terminology, an "Instance" is related to an "Installation", the difference is that an installation is the set of files installed into an Oracle home and an instance is the set of processes associated with those files.

  • Itunes installer asking for Bluetooth Software.msi

    Hi:
Has anyone encountered this error? I downloaded the Itunes 6.0.4 version but everytime I try to install it the installer asks for "Bluetooth Software.msi" driver and refuses to install. Any ideas

    hiya!
hmmmmm. it's plausible that you're got another installer process "jammed on" on the PC, and that is interfering with the itunes install. (saw a bit of that with Logitech QuickCams in the early days of itunes 6.0.x.)
let's try applying the following technique, and trying the itunes install again:
Detect and End Previously Running Installation Processes

  • Windows 8 asks for media drivers during install

I have a 2009 Macbook intel 2.26 core dual with 4 gigs of ram and Mountain Lion installed. I downloaded and burned to a DVD the full (not preview release or beta) Windows 8 from MSDN. Boot Camp creates the partiion then restarts, after the intial set up begins a pop up window asks for media drivers. I used Browse but could not find any. I am thinking that Windows 8 can't find the media drivers for the DVD super drive? Any ideas on how to resolve this. Should I use a usb flash drive instead?

    It is 2015
"Go back to 7" is absolutely not an acceptable response. I've had this exact same problem for years and now in running the Windows 10 Tech Preview which compounds the issue by forcing broken drivers through Windows Update.
In a few months you will have THOUSANDS of customers upgrading to 10 who will be left with broken machines because YOU are too lazy to support them.

  • Acrobat 8 Pro Installation asks for a non-existent file

I just did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on my Alienware laptop, FINALLY replacing the beta version. When I try to run the installation of Acrobat Pro 8 it gets most of the way through then stops, putting up a dialog instructing me to install my Vista DVD and point to AdobePDF.dll which is to be found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Xtras\AdobePDF\i386. This, of course, is absurd, as there is not such folder on any installation disk ... but I happen to have a Vista install disk, so I looked anyway, searching all over the disk with no luck. Then I looked on my Windows 7 disk. No success in finding the errant file there, either. They I checked that folder on my desktop computer, which has the identical operating system. I found an AdobePDF64.dll file and offered it to the installer, but it didn't like it. I even checked an old WinXP 32-bit computer I had laying around, but no such file exists there. I'm stuck. I cancelled out of the dialog demanding the .dll file and the installation proceeded to conclusion. The resulting Acrobat installation reads PDFs fine, but doesn't write them. Any clues?
    Thanks,
    Lanny T.

Thanks for chiming in, Bill, but it seems like you missed my comment about checking my other computer, same OS, same Acrobat 8, and it installed fine into 64-bits. It didn't ask for any files from other disks, and I've been using it on that system for almost two years in that environment. I am puzzled, though, as to why all files needed for installation of any program would not be included on the installation disk.

  • Firefox 12 installer asks for Administrator account

I am trying to do a fresh install of Firefox 12 on my Windows Ultimate x64. When I try to run the installer, it asks for Administrator rights.
Regardless of what I choose (use my current account, which is an administrator account OR type in the password for the main Administrator account), the installer does nothing. Just stops, without any errors, etc.
    1. Why does this version of Firefox need to use the main Administrator account? For the previous versions (and for any other browser) a regular administrator account is enough. What exactly is Firefox 12 doing to the system that requires more access rights?
    2. How (in case I decide to go through with this install) can I convince it to actually install?

    Hi,
I did, if I select run as Administrator or if I tick the "run as administrator" in the properties, then it runs.
But I still want to know *why* Firefox 12 wants administrator rights to install? No other browser requires that and even Firefox 11 installs ok without administrator rights.

  • CS3 Installer asks for non-existent DVD drive

I'm running CS3 on Windows XP. I need to reinstall because I somehow lost codecs for Premiere Pro. Whenever I try to reinstall, the CS3 installer puts up an Installer Alert that asks me to insert CS3 Master Collection Disc 1 into drive G:\ to continue installation.
That sounds pretty simple, but there is no G: drive on my computer. My two DVD drives are D: and E:, and inserting the disc there has no effect. Checking the Windows device manager shows no G: device recognized anywhere on the computer.
I can only click OK, which returns the same alert, or Cancel to cancel the installation. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to get the CS3 installer to ask for installation disks on an existing drive. What's particularly annoying is that the installer is running from a DVD in drive E:, so you'd think it would know to ask for further discs in drive E:. I've tried it as well from drive D:.
Any ideas for getting the installer to stop asking for discs in a non-existent drive?
I've toyed with the idea of completely uninstalling CS3, but am afraid that the installer still won't work, in which case I won't be able to get any work done using CS3 at all.
Thanks for any and all help,
    Mike Boom

The 404 means you have not followed the Very Important Instructions on the prodesigntools page before clicking the download links.
The 7 steps are crucial for setting the correct cookies on your hard drive so that the Adobe servers will grant you access to the download files when you click the links.
    So:
    Go back to http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html
Follow the Very Important Instructions (Step 0 to Step 6 = 7 Steps)
Then click the download links and they will work.

  • Installer asking for password before removal

I have a PC with Windows Vista and use Firefox as my browser.  I have been having trouble with internet pages that temporarily freeze when I reach them or when I exit the page.  I suspect Shockwave Flashplayer is involved, but have not resolved it.  Today I decided to check if my add-ons were updated and a message said I needed to update my Adobe Reader.  I saved the installation file to my Downoalds folder, but before installing, I saw there was a slightly earlier version still sitting there.  I wanted to delete it and perhaps delete both installation files, but it asks me to provide a password and then that window asking for the password will not close unless I use Task Manager to end the task.
What is this about?  I want to remove both installation files and never needed passwords before.  I am the only one who uses the computer and thereby the administrator.  I have access to all the permissions.
If anyone can help me with the password issue, I would appreciate it.  I suspect no one has answers to the the Shockwave Flashplayer issues since the web is full of complaints about it and no solutions.
    Thanks.

Well, I appreciate the attention both you (Test Screen Name) and Pat Willener gave this.  This is indeed a weird problem to have, but hopefully benign.  It's just that I like a clean computer when possible.  More importantly, the problems I stated in my original post are what prompted this and they remain.  Once a day, certain types of pages stall for a minute or more when I load them or exit them (like yahoo mail) and the source of the problem, according to posts on the internet, is some incompatibility with Adobe Shockwave Player.  Nothing anyone has tried seems to have solved it.  I was hoping keeping my various add-ons, readers and players up to date would help.

  • Portal Installation asking for Obsolete Patch

    Hello all,
I'm trying to install Portal 6.1 on Solaris 8. I've added all the required patches. I get an error when I run the install script about a missing patch. The patch 108827 in question is actually obsolete. It is obsoleted by 108993-26. I have patch 108993 installed.
If anyone has encountered this and can provide some guidance it would be a great help.
    Thanks,
    Tariq

Found it in the release notes!
NOTE The pssetup script checks for the operating system patches required for the Sun
ONE Portal Server to work. If you have applied an operating system patch which
obsoletes one of the required OS patches instead of installing or updating to the
required patch, the pssetup script ask you if you want to abort the installation.
For example, if you are installing the Sun ONE Portal Server on the Solaris 8
Operating System and do not have patch 108827, or have not updated to 108827-15
because you have applied patch 108993-18, the pssetup script will still try to detect
108827-15. In this case the bug fixes required for Sun ONE Portal Server are present
in 108993-18 and you can continue with the installation when asked to abort if all the
    other required patches are installed.

  • CS6 installation asking for proxy password

I am upgrading one of our school PC's from CS3 to CS6.
Everything is downloaded and the installer has begun.
It asks me now to provide a proxy server username and password.
We do use a proxy at school for internet access and this uses NTLM authentication to track the staff and students sites visited by their active directory credentials.
There is no other proxy server username or password...
What should I enter as it won't let me carry on without entering something...

    Update:
Logged on to the PC locally as administrator with no proxy set in IE.
This time I was not asked for proxy username or password....
At the options screen now and the following are not able to be selected:
    Adobe After Effects
    Adobe Encore
    Adobe Premiere Pro
    Adobe SpeedGrade
They all say : "OS Requirement not met, 64bit OS recommended"
    Is there anyway round this?
We don't run 64 bit OS at the school.
Will creating the deployment package with AAMEE 3.0 allow me to create a deployment that will work for these pacakges on 32 bit OS'es

  • Installation asks for faulty drive

    Hi iTuners,
In Windows XP I enjoyed iTunes. The applications was on the c:drive, but the itunes directory was on an external hard drive (Maxtor), called M:.
The hard drive crashed. That is annoying, but on top of that has built an iTunes problem.
I could not uninstall iTunes, and now I deleted it all manually, I try to install again. BUT: the installation program asks for a M:drive (which does not exist anymore) and stops at that point.
Anyone who could help me (maybe editing in the registry, which I want to do "under supervision"), since it is so silent in my hobby room.
    Thanks in advance,
    Carlo
      Windows XP

    The problem is fixed.
'My documents' was still referring to M:\
    thanks anyway

  • Installer asks for CS5.1 Disk but I puchased PS as a direct download.

So today I reinstalled Windows, same computer just different new identity, so nothing recognizes it. Installing all of my other programs I had no problem. Even Maya worked just by entering the serial and product keys, but Photoshop is asking for an instal disc. Obviously I don't have one if I bought and downloaded it straight from the Adobe site. Need a fix for this.

Well since I had reinstalled windows, I backed up a lot of files to my phone. (SD card on it) I came to Adobe.com and redownloaded PS CS5.1 from the site via, "My Orders > Alt Download > File 1+2" I did this the same way when I first installed it. I've got no problem entering the Serial Key, but once the installer reaches the instal part it requests the CS5.1 Disc. Like I said I don't have because I bought PS as a download.
And no Preran. I didn't use that link. I never downloaded a trial copy. I bought a full product from having nothing previously.
