Dear Support,
I bought yesterday a Toshiba Satellite Z930/01E with 3rd Generation Intel ULV Core i5-3337u 1.8 GHz - 2.7 GHz
The hardware is beautiful but the software windows 8 basic is a piece of rubish, I'm a heavy computer user I need to run several virtual machines in my current laptop a dell xps 15 in a normal day I have 2 windows xp + linux + windows 7,
I spent my day yesterday trying to get working virtualbox or vmware player on windows 8 on this laptop
and it doesn't work at all, can anyone please tell me if you are using any virtualization software on this laptop ?and if you are what is the trick ??
How do we enable virtualization on this laptop ??
Please help I'm considering in returning this latop and get instead a mac, I got enough issues with windows just to run such a basic application.
Thanks
Ivan

Do I have to deinstall Win 8.1? How do I have to do it?
Acutally I want to avoid to reinstall the complet Notebook.
    Thanks for any help.
    Notebook: Satellite Z930-130

    Hi
After Windows 8.1 installation, you have to install the Toshiba Windows 8.1 drivers in the right installation order!!!!
I recommend you to check the thread posted by Francesco about Win 8.1 upgrade.
    [--- Windows 8.1 update - information page -- -- -- IMPORTANT ! -- -- |http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=73691]
Furthermore visit the Toshiba EU driver page where the Win 8.1 drivers could be downloaded.
There you can find the installation instruction which should be followed!!

  • Instructions for opening a Satellite Z930 with a slot for SIM card

    Hello,
I have a Satellite Z930 which I would like to open in order to replace the original SSD with one having a higher capacity.
    The thread http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=279122
    was very helpful.
But my PC has a SIM card slot on the right side (side opposite to the microphone and the headphone)
Even after taking off all the 14 screws (including the torx one right in the center), the back cover can not be lifted up on the side of the SIM card slot. Something is holding it back.
Has anyone in the community already succeeded in removing the back cover for this confiuration ?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Randy, Thanks anyway for your time.
After hesitating a bit, I finally decided to remove the SIM tray completely (since that was what was preventing the backcover from coming off).
When you pull at the tray (it is plastic and gray in color and opposite to the audio and video outlets), it does not come off completely when you pull it out normally to maximum (as when inserting a SIM card). You have to frankly tug and pull hard and the plastic tray comes out (just take care not to break it, whch shouldn't happen since the tray is supple and flexible).
Once the tray is out, the back cover comes off (like explained in several videos on the net, especially a good one mentioned by Randy).
Now, I could replace the original factory 128Gb SSD with a 480 Gb disk from mushkin (Atlas mSATA SSD).
This disk from mushkin is just about the right size to go into the Z930, a bit more bigger and it would not have fitted !
Hope this is useful to others.

  • Satellite M300 with Win 7 64 wont register bluetooth mouse

I have just updated my M300 to Win 7 64 and can't get MS Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 to register. I have updated the BIOS and drivers. Any suggestions would be gratefully received. It worked perfectly on this computer with Win 7 32.
    Thanks in advance.

    Akuma is right.
You need the Toshiba Bluetooth stack!
Reinstall the BT stack and enable BT using the FN + F8
Note; the FN+F8 controls the WLan too. You need to press this key combination several times in order to get BT enabled.

  • Satellite U200 with Win XP - Display device change utility is not working

    Hi there,
I reckon there's nothing wrong with his installation since I experience the same problem.
Fresh install of win XP on a U200 satellite Pro.
WXP updated to sp3 straight away. Then downloaded all drivers baseD en serial number from toshiba website, then installed them in the same order as advised on the installation list but I get the same error installation message as sjoemie1 when I tried to install "hotkey for display device" etc.
ANYONE KNOW HOW TO REINSTALL THOSE TWO FILES?

    Hi
The Common Modules v6.05.00 for Win XP needs to be installed firstly.
Furthermore there are two tools called
*Hotkey Utilities for Display Devices v3.4.4.1-XP*
    and
    *Display Device Change v2.3.0.0*
Both software part allows you to switch the display device from LCD to LCD+CRT or CRT mode by pressing Fn+F5
So if you have any problems installing the first utility, forget this and try the second one.

  • How to enable virtualization technology

    hello
I'm working on toshiba satellite L850-b404 laptop with intel i5-3210m processor which shows the intels' website that it supports virtualization technology
    http://ark.intel.com/products/67355/Intel-Core-i5-3210M-Processor-3M-Cache-up-to-3_10-GHz-rPGA
Also virtualization technology is enabled in my bios settings.
But I can't run virtual machine properly I'm using virtual box and getting this message
"VT-x/AMD-V hardware acceleration is not available on your system. Certain guests (e.g. OS/2 and QNX) require this feature and will fail to boot without it."
Plus when i run intel (R) Processor Identification Utility it's shows me no next to virtualization technology
    Any suggestions?

    Hi pallabmukherjee,
Thanks for posting. Just to confirm with you, when you say enabling the virtualisation. Do you mean enabling the Intel Virtual Technology? If you're aiming to do this you can do so by going into your BIOS.
    Please see illustration below.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to enable virtualization on Satelite Pro U200

Hi, I have satelite pro with Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T5600 processor. I'm 100% sure, that it have virtualization support.
So the question is: Is there (or why not) any possibility to enable the virtualization in bios? I need to run 64b OSes under vmware server and for this is the virtualization needed. :(

    Hi
If virtualization option is not available in BIOS settings I am afraid there is no much to do.

  • Control buttons don't work on Satellite A300 with Win XP

    Hi,
I bought a new Toshiba A300-1MX a few days ago.
I had windows XP installed. Service Pack 3. BIOS is version 1.50 (says so in the BIOS).
The problem: My shiny media keys dont work. They just dont respond.
    Anyone with any suggestions?
I have downloaded the commute models models driver for XP plus the hotkey utility for XP, and after installing it the FN keys (ESC, F1-5-6-7-10-11) work (altho the F2,3,4,8,9,12 dont work).
    Thanks people.
    Sascha

Because the A300-1MX belongs to the PSAGCE series you have to choose and download the XP drivers for this model.
I checked the Toshiba driver page and there is a BIOS 1.40 only. So dont understand why you talk about 1.50 Bios.
Secondly the Toshiba media buttons will function if you would install the Toshiba Controls utility from the page.
Last but not least you need Common Modules to get the FN buttons working.
The single FN buttons like F9 for example need a additional tool like Touch Pad On/Off Utility
The Fn F2 or FN F3 will work if a Power Saver has been installed and hibernation has been enabled.
So as you see you need further tools!

  • MOVED: how to enable "Virtualization" for my PC?

    Which CPU is installed?
That will etermine whether or not it is even an option in the BIOS.
The following images are from preproduction BIOSes and serve only as examples.
With an eligible Intel CPU it should be in the System Configuration menu in the BIOS.
With an eligible AMD processor it is called SVM (secure virtual machine) and it is also in the System Configuration menu of the BIOS.

  • Satellite P850 with Win 8.1 - Hercules rmx dj controller not working

Since installing windows 8.1 on my P850, I have been unable do use my Hercules dj rmx controller.
The support team at Hercules state that the issue is the usb 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller entry and recommend going to the link and follow the instructions there for updating the relevant drivers, as this is a power management issue from the upgrade.
They haven't solved my problem so they said talk to my pc manufacturer.
Can any body help or had this problem.
+Message was edited: dead link has been removed+

    Hi
The USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller is developed and designed by Intel.
The point is that Intel provided the own drivers only for Windows 7.
Why? Because the Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 use already native in-box USB 3.0 driver
    +Source:+
    http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/usb3/sb/CS-033977.htm
So if Hercules support means, its a compatibility problem between the Dj controller and the USB controller, they should provide an fix for that because Intel does not provide any special driver updates for the USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller
By the way: this is an user-to-user community
