Satellitle L755-S5306 display split into 3 screens

I have a Toshiba Satellite L755-S5306 and have been experiencing a display issue, such that my laptop's screen is split into 3 panels nearly all of the time.  When I initially turn on the computer, the screen looks normal, but when it gets to the screen for me to type in my password to login to my laptop, the screen is split into the 3 vertical panels, with the left, middle, and right panels in switched places. Sometimes when I turn on my laptop the display works normally, but most of the time lately I cannot use it because of the split screens. I have updated/reinstalled the display driver, which didn't work.  Also, when I plug my laptop into a separate computer monitor, the display is normal.  Therefore, it seems that the problem is a lose cable connecting the laptop to the display monitor. I have spoken with the IT department both at Toshiba and at my university and we have determined that the lose cable is most likely the issue; however, it will cost about $200 for Toshiba to fix it because my laptop is a little over a year old and out of warranty.  The representative I spoke to at Toshiba said that in order for them to cover the cost of this, there has to be evidence that other people with the same model are experiencing the same issue (the problem is that this issue is being discussed on this forum, but not specifically with the Satellite L755 - not sure if it has to be the S5306 as well?) Please respond if you have a Satellite L755 and are experiencing this issue so that we can get Toshiba's attention to help us fix it Thanks,Christie 

Following up for the vacationing Peter...
If the problem has never happened before WIndows loads but is happening somewhat consistently after Windows loads that would seem to suggest that it might be a software issue, unlikely as that seems.
The most reliable way to clarify whether the issue is being caused by hardware or software is to perform a system recovery. See http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/System-Recovery-and-Recovery/How-To-Perform-system-recovery-Windows-7/ta-p/279643 for detailed instructions.
If that doesn't resolve the problem then, unfortunately, you'll want to contact support at 800-457-7777 about having it repaired.

  • How do I split the video into 4 screen? I don't see the picture on picture option!

    How?

    For picture in picture in iMovie 10 (I'm assuming this is what you are using)  - drag the picture you want to add to above the clip in the timeline where you want to add it.  It will 'stick' just above the timeline clip with a link poiting down to it.  At this point the picture will replace the clip completly (default behaviour).  Now move the playhead (white vertical line) to somewhere within the added picture and click on leftmost icon above the viewer (Video overlay settings).  A dropdown menu below gives various options the bottom one of which is picture in picture.  Select thios and you can position and size the picture in the viewer.
    I don't quite understand what you mean "by split into 4 screen".  You can have just one picture in picture, same as before.
    iMovie has a radically changed user interface so it is really necessary to study the help information to find out where things are.

  • Splitter control into 5 screens and some advise.

    I need to write an interactive report with some selection screen. After user input on selection screen,  I will extract data and put all into 5 screens presenting to user.  Two screens on top of each other on the left of the docing.  Two screen side by side on the right at top and one screen horizontally at the bottoms of the two side by side screens.  I draw the picture here for easier visualization.
    Each screen will have its own title and buttons and ALV report data. User can select any screen and depending on which screen they click the button, it will do either update or branching into something else.  I am thinking of using docking container and splitter control to split into 5 screens but I do not know how to split into screen lay out like below.  Is it possible?
    Is this a good approach or Web Dynpro is better?  I never write any WDN, just followed some exercise on SDN so it will be a challenge with the time constraints.  My company is against writing the classic Dialog with all PAI, PBO but I think even with ALV you still have to deal with PAI, PBO.  Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

    Right now we do not use portal yet and still use SAP GUI so I decided to go with the classic dynpro with OO approach.
    See sometimes available technology makes the choice for you;)
    Regarding the splitter. It's more or less like this
    "1. custom container

    As you can see you need 3 splitter containers and get_container method (which returns type cl_gui_container ). 1st cuts main container, 2nd cuts new subcontainer into two new parts, 3rd one cust another subcontainer into another new parts.
    This way by in turn gettting and cutting containers you can create any subareas on screen for GUI controls.
    Please note!
    This technique is only applicable for GUI controls, where each container is parent of certain control. For subscreens you would need other approach.

  • Toshiba Satellite L755-S5306 Blue Screen of Death BSOD

    If you are having “The Blue Screen Of Death” (BSOD) with a Toshiba Satellite L755-S5306 you are not alone. Please leave a comment in hopes enough of us can find each other and come up with a more permanent solution than the work around I present here. As of the day this was posted there was nothing index into Google or Toshiba’s forums regarding a Toshiba Satellite L755-S5306 having a BSOD problem.
    Unfortunately I don't have an answer or solution so much as a troubleshooting alternative and that is to install Ubuntu 11+. I would rather use windows7 but the fact that Ubuntu runs without crashes indicates that my problem is a Windows 7 software issue. Windows7 is conflicting with either the hardware within my computer or some pre-installed factory software.
    This laptop is new (it has only been out of the box for 3 months), has an i3 processor, 4GB of RAM and is still under warranty; until Sept. 10, 2012. I have yet to contact Toshiba but will. Within the last month (Feb. 2012) I started to get multiple BSODs out of no where. These were the following error messages:
    1. KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
    Caused By Driver : luafv.sys
    2. KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
    Caused By Driver : Ntfs.sys
    3. SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION

    I have done all of the following hoping to solve this issue with no luck:
    1. Re-formated computer with factory shipped disk. Five Minutes after I did this I got the BSOD. That definitely eliminated the idea that it was something I had installed or that it was a windows update conflict.
    2. Got all window updates. That didn’t help.
    3. Checked all drivers manually one by one through the device manager for updates; according to the Device Manager there was no updates.  
    *However, this is the only area of hope that I have. I downloaded the program Drive Max and it list several drivers as outdated. I can only download two a day and install them. After I have them all installed I will report back as to whether or not I have a BSOD.
    4. Updated BIOS. Toshiba did have a BIOS update available but the update did not fix my BSOD problems. I have seen on this forum many people have had problems with the BIOS but I have not.
    5. Ran window's memory diagnostic tool. It reported  no errors.
    60 I also ran Ubuntus memory test and passed.
    7. Check Disk with no errors
    After all those failed attempts I took to the Internet. That is when I ran across a post online where a person stated they had the same problem with a similar Toshiba laptop and switched to Ubuntu. After doing so they had no problems. I did the same and agree I have no issues after one week. So I hope this helps for now. If anyone has this problem or finds a windows based solution please leave a comment.

    Since I reformatted every time I have booted up I have turned on the Windows memory diagnostic too. I did this in hopes that if a BSOD occurred it would catch something when it rebooted and today it did after an extended memory test.
    I got the standard message, “Hardware problems were detected...Test results will be displayed again after you log on”, however no test results were ever displayed. Does anyone know if there is a way to manually find the results of the test? Also, I ran the test again to see if I could get the results and the second time it said there were no problems detected.
    At this point I am suspecting it to be a faulty stick of RAM. Windows 7 utilizes about 1.25GB of ram when booted and Ubuntu 200MB. This very well could be why Ubuntu works without problems.
    I have to write a business plan in the next few weeks and cannot send my laptop in until that is done. So I will continue to use Ubuntu until done with my plan and then contact Toshiba. I will post back with any information I get in regards to the problem and once again thank you all for your help.

  • After a PRAM reset my MBP 1,1 display is split into 4 parts each displaying the same image. What is causing this and how can I fix it?

    After resetting the PRAM/NVRAM (control, option, P, R) on my Macbook Pro 1,1 (2007) running 10.6.8 The screen is now split into 4 parts, each displaying the same thing. The screen immediately appears this way at the first grey screen, however if I do another NVRAM reset, upon restart after the second startup chime, the screen is normal but once it gets to a certain point around thetime the cog stops spinning, the screen flickers, turns blue and splits into four again.
    Another thing is when I tried using the Apple Hardware Test I couldn't read the instructions as the resolution was too small, but once I restarted and change my display resolution in System Preferences, the resolution was readable in AHT. I assumed the System Settings were loading when the OS had booted and that AHT runs without any of these settings (if that makes sense?)
    I've not used any third party utilites and everything working fine except for some battery issues which are gone now (the reason I tried the PRAM reset)

    Sounds like Spaces is being activated somehow. With the wired keyboard and mouse in use, select the Exposé & Spaces control pane in System Preferences, click the choice in that pane for Spaces. See what the settings are. There are some activation settings in that pane - by default, F8 activates it.
    It could be that the bluetooth keyboard has some stuck keys and is activating Spaces; or that the activation command has somehow been reset to something that the bluetooth mouse, or bluetooth itself, is triggering.

  • Hp 8560w booting into black screen, seems to be booting without display

    Hi,
    Ive got this elitebook 8650w from a friend who asked me to help him try to get it to run.
    First thing noticable that something was wrong with this machine  is when it started shutting down/rebooting randomly,  i suspected overheating since it hadnt been cleaned and doing these shutdowns while it was running 3d games.
    I told my friend he had to get it cleaned or it could sustain damage.
    The next day the system started to reboot right after it completed windows logon, getting into a loop.
    I suspected the temprature failsafe was doing this, because after the system did one cold start,it would boot to windows,reboot on its own and then wouldnt get through the boot process alltogether and just showed a black screen with the cooling fan running at top speed, capslock blinking.
    It wasnt even showing the hp bios startup screen anymore.
    I tried hooking up a monitor to the external vga,  but the monitor goes into standy and remains black.
    I know it did boot onto windows eventhough it was showing a blackscreen because i could type in the logon password, wait a bit and then shutdown the system with pressing alt-f4, enter.
    clearly the system boots but just the display isnt working. but it isnt giving off any beeps or showing anything on boot.
    So i took out the cooling parts and cleaned it to redo the thermal paste.
    the job had previously  been done by hp, and turned out to be done very very poorly,   half the GPU didnt even have thermal paste onit, a big airbubble prevented contact for more then 2/4th of the gpu surface.
    i feared a burnout,  but the surface didnt show discoloration and it had been working like this since he got it.
    Eventhough it was a poor job done, it didnt seem to be burnt and the temperature failsafe just saved it from burning out.
    After thouroughly cleaning the big blobs of paste hp put there most of it ending up next to the gpu and cpu instead of onit,blobs big enough to cover atleast 4 of the same type gpu's/cpu's
    I redid the thermal paste using arctic silver number 5, the way it should be done and then reinstalled the blocks and heatpipes.
    It all went smoothly into place and i reassembled the parts taken off the laptop.
    Confident i rebooted, nothing changed and the problem persisted, it seems to be booting, but the screen doesnt display a thing, and stays completely black.
    Shining a light onto the screen doesnt reveal any unlit graphics due to a broken backlight or anything.
    Since it went through this loop often and me and my friend have been pressing keys to see if it would boot into a bios screen or anything i suspected the bios might have gotten screwed up, so i decided to try and restore default bios.
    But how to do that without a screen?   i tried locating a bios jumper to do this  but didnt find any.
    Then i found a text the hp forom saying i could force factory setting by pressing f10  repeatedly  5x times during startup, then f5  for default and then f10 to safe and exit,enter.
    I did try that a couple of times,  but the machine doesnt reboot as it should when you safe an exit bios, s i dont even know if i get into bios in reality.
    Now ive come across a few known problems with this machine in my forumcrawling.
    2 problems wich results in the same behaviour are : 1 a faulty mobo and 2 a faulty board for the webcam behind the top of the display somehow preventing the screen to work properly.
    So , dear hp support -  are there any known problems and sulotions to them other then, drain power and boot again?
    If this machine did appear on the market with some of em having a faulty mobo, like some mssges say, why is that not on the  official forum, and could i be dealing with such a machine,  how do i find out?
    If im dealing with a broken display,  could that have been caused by a videocard overheating?
    You can help me by telling me:
    -Can i force bios default without having an active screen? if so,  how?  just pulling the battery and draining power didnt change a thing.
    -Can i find out if GPU is broken  (the system does seem to boot in the dark on a cold start)
    -Can i find out if the display is broken by blinking messages or someting?
    -Are there other known problems with this machine that give these failures as a result?
    Can it be theres a broken inverter for the backlight? i geuss not, the vga port would be working then.

    I brought it into the Apple Store and I was completely denied of the 8600m GT recall. I am not paying $800 for a **** logic board replacement! Seriously, what the ****!?
    I find this problem just as bad as the 8600m GT failures because this isn't the only forum I've been too that have people complaining about the same thing.
    I don't know what to do anymore. Money doesn't grow on trees and I need a working laptop for school.
    If anyone has any other suggestions please don't hesitate to let us know here.

  • Macbook pro Freezes, Screen splits into two half, scrambled..

    Hi,
    Just bought a new Macbook Pro 15.4, 2 Ghz i7 processor, AMD Raedon HD 6490M 256 Mb Video, 4 Gb Memory...
    After Three days, whenever I try to play a video, in quicktime or vlc or just load a video song on virtual dj,
    the screen just freezes and splits into two. The Force quit doesnt work.
    The only thing that works is "Hold the power button for three seconds."

    I have the same issue. This began before I installed Lion OSx. Happens randomly and not connected to any particular application. Here are some screen shots. It happens at least two times a day and is getting very frustrating. Taking it to the genius bar this weekend.
    All I can say is that it began after i applied some major updates (most probably the ones to fix the freeze issues that were cropping up on these new macbooks when they were launched). This is only my observation.
    MacBook Pro 2011 March (Thunderbolt) i7 - 2.2 GHz.
    8 GB RAM

    The top and bottom task bar looked to be burnt into the screen on my MacBook Pro Retina Display.  Is this possible or are my eyes playing tricks on me?

    I am not sure about everything, but there is something that may fix some of your problems. Go to System Preferences, and choose the "Universal Access" preference pane. In Universal Access, turn off VoiceOver, Zoom (seeing tab), Sticky Keys, Slow Keys (Keyboard tab), and Mouse Keys (Mouse tab). Make sure the "Enable access for assistive devices" checkbox, which is at the bottom of the preference pane. From there, look at other options and see if they are things you want turned off, or changed from how they are set. If you don't know what different options do, click on the help icon at the bottom left corner of the window. And if you are still baffled, ask here and someone will tell you what it does.
    If you use any of the universal access options or think they could be useful, feel free to leave them on.
    Also, go to the Keyboard and Mouse preference pane, choose the Keyboard Shortcuts tab, and make sure there are no strange keyboard shortcuts set that may interfere with the keys you are having issues with.
    Did you install any new software before this started happening, and if so, how many days before it started happening?
    Let us know if these tips get you anywhere.

Despite my phone requiring a password to get into it and this being locked when the text comes in, the text message is still actually visible on the front screen and could be read by anyone. Can anyone provide me with any resolution to this please?

    Settings > Notifications and turn off the ones you don't want.

                              In selection Screen  initially u have to enter the input value after provides some user command only next screen will be trigger.
    In the next screen PBO event you cant assign selection screen Variable into next screen fields.
    Eg.
    Selection Screen Variable
              s_belnr
               s_bukrs
               s_gjahr
    Next Screen
               t_belnr
               t_bukrs
               t_gjahr
    In PBO  you can code
              t_belnr  = s_belnr
              t_bukrs = s_bukrs
             s_gjahr  =   s_gjahr
    Revert back if any difficulties to do.

  • I have a 17" Macbook pro with flickering red and cyan(blue) lines across the screen. The issue disappears temporarily when I tap on the computer, and the problem does not occur when I use external display or try to screen capture the problem.

    I purchased my Macbook (17") through a certified apple tecnition in August 2012, it was refurbished and the motherboard was completely replaced. I do a lot of photo editing, but I have been unable to do so because of the red vibrating lines that interrupt my screen. The issue disappears temporarily when I tap on the computer, and the problem does not occur when I use external display or try to screen capture the problem. I brought the computer back to the technition I purchased it from and he said that it was a problem with my fan, so I have two new fans but the issue is still occuring. He says he doesnt know whats wrong. Does anyone have any information on this issue?

    I recommend having your Mac serviced by someone competent. A force sufficient to "blow apart" the fans was clearly excessive and may have damaged the display cable, as well as any number of other problems.
    Dust is properly cleaned with a vacuum, preferably one designed for computer service, and they are not cheap.
    Compressed air should never be used. It just blows dust everywhere, often into places where it can no longer be removed.
