Sattelite C675 laptop

This laptop will not access Internet Explorer after a windows automatic "critical upgrade" on march 13. The only way i can access Explorer is to do a restoration to before march 13 and stop auto upgrades. These up grades have not caused a problem on my Sony Laptop

Good job: KB2809289
I have checked around and you seem to be the only one having that trouble.
How do you feel about upgrading to IE 10?

  • Why does my laptop computer automatically write "ccc" and "bbb"?

I have Toshiba Sattelite L300 laptop which automatically writes these letters "cccc" and "bbbb" (ONLY these two letters). I bought this laptop 11 months ago and it is still under 1-year basic guarantee that will expire within few weeks. Few months ago, I began to notice that frequently while I'm writing (whether in Microsoft Word, yahoo notepad, Google documents, or simply writing my ID's and passwrods online) and after finshing the sentence, sequences of c "ccc" and sometimes b "bbb" automatically written without pressing the letter keys. I thought that it was Windows problem, and so I ran Toshiba Recovery twice, and the problem remained. It could happen once everyday, and it could happen even more frequnetly (e.g. 5-50 times a day!). I was told that it must have been sticking keys on the keyboard causing the problem. I contacted Toshiba technical support who kindly replaced the keyboard and returned the laptop back to me. I was surprised that the problem was not sorted out. Someone on Yahoo Answers told me it might have been a virus. Therefore, I replaced my anti-virus with Avast! (free version), and downloaded 2 anti-spyware/malware (Spybot and Ad-Aware also free online) and scanned my computer. However, the problem is still there, coming and going, and sometimes very frequent to the extent that when the curser is at any place whether online or in Word, it writes big number of C's "cccccccc" and sometimes "bbbb". The noticeable thing is that never any other letter is automatically written! Just these 2 letters (b and c). The only thing that happended to this laptop few month ago is that my 2-year child stood upon it while it was closed and I don't know whether this had anything to do with this writing problem. The problem is terrible because MOST of what I do on my laptop is writing...What do you think? Has anybody gone through this painful, hateful experience? Any suggestions? I really hate this to happen, especially because I'm writing my PhD thesis and I don't want to be obsessed with reviewing every single paragraph in case that this might have happened...Serious and/or expert answers please! Thanks so much in advance.

Bet you didn't mention to the Toshiba folks that your child stood on the laptop.  It's probable that the chassis has been deformed sufficiently to cause the problem, regardless of a new keyboard.  The problem, as you describe it, is intermittent, so it's not likely to be found by Toshiba during replacement of the keyboard.
Since the warranty doesn't cover abuse, about all you can do is bite the bullet and buy another laptop.  Perhaps one of the Panasonic ToughBooks if you are going to leave it where your offspring can stand on it again. <grin>

  • PH3100U-1EXB External Hard Drive

I have an external hard drive that I connect to a Toshiba Satellite C675 laptop. I last used my hard drive on 8/31/12. When I tried to connect it today, 9/2/12, the power light comes on for about 10 seconds, blinks rapidly, clicks and turns off. I have tried to power it on about 40 times and it does the same thing every time. I have also tried to unplug the power cable and let it sit for a few minutes. I have had the hard drive for about three years and have not had any previous issues.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I was looking for drivers or software for my old PH3100U-1EXB tonight and cannot find anything. Would anyone know where I might find that? Also is it possible to change this drive from a SATA to USB3? I has the USB 2.0 but very slow. Thanks in advance for any help in this matter.

  • Satellite A30 hibernation and turning on problems

    hi
i have had my toshiba sattelite A30 laptop for 14 months now, and havent had any major problems until now. whenever i turn my laptop off or put it into hibernation, it wont restart normally the next time i use it, it just acts as if it is starting, then stops and turns itself off, and will do this over and over until i remove the power cable and take out the battery, then put it back in and restart, and then it just acts normally.
i have checked and deleted all viruses on my hard drive, but this problem is worrying me.
does anyone have any idea why this is happening?
    thanks

    Hi,
did you tried to reinstall the Toshiba Power Saver yet?
A friend of mine had also hibernation problems and he reinstalled the power saver!
We dicussed about it and it can be that the hibernation file is damaged and have to be generated new!

  • 'HDD Recovery' folder size increases on "D" partition

I'm the sattelite Toshiba laptop owner, lately I've noticed that my (unused) D: disk is out of space and after close analysis I've figured out that the folder 'HDDRecovery' size is >200GB.
I do not want to remove the folder or delete image files within as I need recovery functionality but I do not have any idea how to manage recovery process to decrease the volume.
Do you have any idea how to tackle this?
    Wojtek

    Hi
It sounds strange to me that the HDD recovery folder size would in increase up to 200GB continually. Probably notebook stores the back-up files automatically in this folder but Im not quite sure why
However, I recommend you to create an recovery medium (recovery disk) using the Toshiba
Recovery Medium Creator (this software preinstalled on the Toshiba notebook).
The usage of Recovery Disk (or recovery USB stick) would set the notebook back to factory settings and even if you would delete the HDD recovery folder or the whole partition, this partition and these files would be created again.
Hope this info could be helpful for you.

  • Sattelite A500-ST6647; Need a Laptop cooler pad

The Zalman series seem to have the best user reviews, but the fan holes on these models stop about 3/4 of the way up the pad. The computer I ordered (not yet received) has at least one vent near the computer battery cell that may not benefit from this cooling pad.
My computer will have a 12 cell battery, which will raise the computer at the back, and I assume, provide extra air circulation that a computer with a flush battery would not, so I may not even need a cooler.
If anyone can recommend a laptop cooler that is well made and fits the vent schematic at the bottom of this computer I would appreciate the advice.
    Thanks, waxx
    Computer Config :
    Satellite A500-ST6647 Intel® Core™ i7-720QM Processor 1.6 GHz (2.8 GHz with Turbo Boost Technology), 6MB L3 Cache, 1333MHz DDR3, Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit, 4GB DDR3 1066MHz SDRAM (2048MBx2), 500GB HDD (7200rpm, Serial-ATA), NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 330M with 1GB GDDR3 discrete graphics, Slot-Loading DVD SuperMulti (+/- Double Layer) with Labelflash®, Fusion Finish™ in Quantum Black, Glossy Black US LED Backlight Keyboard, Bluetooth® Version 2.1 +EDR, High Capacity Lithium Ion Battery (12-cell), Integrated Modem

    Good advice from all ...
There are a couple of reasons to use a cooler pad. The first is that you are using a laptop on your lap and the built in fan air intake is on the bottom of the machine so that your leg blocks it - either a cooler or a simple tray will fix this problem. The second is that you have an older laptop and the laptop's heatsink is full of dust bunnies - a cooler will help but a little maintenance would work a lot better..

  • Laptop sattelite R840 dvd 2 SSD caddy

I'm trying to add second hdd, in place of dvd by using ssd caddy, but I can't take the dvd out from the laptop. I followed on-line instructions...
In every video or instruction this is very simple procedure, remove the screw which holds DVD and voila the dvd just slides out like a magic, yet, for me, it behaves like being glued to something inside.
I removed the screw that suppose to hold it in place, HDD to be able to push it from the back of DVD, use plastic card to check for any obstacle and to relax pressure from armor, relax all screws....nothing.
Anyone with success story, before I start taking it apart to brake something?
Looks like this R840 is very special.
    Thanks

    hi pneumokok,
    Welcome to the Forums.
From page 103 of the G580 HMM, the ODD is a 12.7mm so a 12.7mm HDD caddy should do the trick.
     - Sample item
As for the SSD, most users I've seen uses a 2.5" Samsung SSD so it'll be best if you go with this brand too for best cmopatibility.

  • My Second Generation iPod Nano isn't recognized by my Toshiba Laptop

    Hello,
I have a problem and I was hoping someone on here would be able to help me.
A couple of weeks ago I have bought a new Second Generation silver coloured 2GB iPod Nano. I have tried to hook it up with my Toshiba Sattelite A100 PSAA9 laptop without having iTunes installed, but while having Quicktime installed. My laptop gave the message 'new hardware detected, iPod', but then started the wizard 'New hardware detected' and searched for a driver, which it couldn't find. I disconnected the iPod and installed iTunes and tried to connect again.. Same result.
I have tried hooking up the iPod with a different computer that has iTunes installed and it works perfectly on there. I have also tried hooking it up with another laptop without having iTunes installed and that laptop recognizes the iPod immediately and requests to download iTunes.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling all Apple software multiple times, using a register cleaner to make sure all Apple software is indeed gone. Next to that I have tried all the suggestions on the Apple problem shooting pages, such as resetting my iPod or even putting it in storage mode, but it won't be recognised by my laptop. I have also tried the special tips for Toshiba users, but that wouldn't help either. I have no idea what to do any more. I could really use some help.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sanne

    Hi MartyP680,
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It appears that you're receiving a message that your iPod nano can't be identified properly, and you've already tried removing and reinstalling iTunes. You've also isolated this behavior to only one of your PCs.
If the issue persists, there are some additional tips in this article that may help, including verifying that the Apple Mobile Device Support service installed properly and is running:
iPod nano: Error message saying that iPod could not be identified properly - Apple Support
The "Learn More" section also mentions some other potentially conflicting software to look for on your PC.

  • Laptop Functionality in GNOME

I have a Toshiba Sattelite-L305. I have installed Arch Linux, laptop-mode tools and gnome-power-manager on it. GNOME gives me no functionality for changing brightness and does not dim when power is out. Why?

try starting hal. i know gnome-power-manager still uses hal for some type of laptops when it comes to brightness

  • Intel 7260 and Sattelite a665

I just replaced the Intel Advanced 6200 wifi card in my Sattelite A665 with an Intel 7260 2x2 ac wifi card to utilize the ac capability of my new Newgear AC1900 router.  I downloaded and installed the newest drivers from Intel and Device manager shows the both the wifi and blue tooth portions of the card working properly and I now have blue tooth connection to my HP printer.  I can not see any of my previous wifi connections and Windows 7 trouble shooting says the wifi hardware swith is Off.  The "Radio" button does seem to swith the radio on/off, however the orange led light on the front of the laptop doesn't come on like it did with the 6200 card.  Is there a compatiblility issue with the A665 and the 7260 card or something else I'm missing.  I'm running Win 7 Premium Home Edition with SP1.

I'm still working on this and discovered I was using the wrong Hardware Switch to toggle the wireless mode off and on.  there is a shortcut button to the wireless mode above the function keys that is supposed to toggle wireless on/off.  I noticed it doesn't work if when the original Intel 6200 wifi card was in.  However the true on/off is FN key + F8.  That works with the original card.  I put the new Intel 7260 in and it installs perfectly with device manager indicating it is working properly and the bluetooth works great too......but no wifi.  Then I notice the F8 functionality is now gone so I can not use the hardware switch to turn wifi on.
Has the Toshiba system locked that card out from being funtional on this computer?  Any other thoughts?  I've tried just about everything discussed on various forums and sites.

  • Why Does ImageReady.exe Run on My Laptop?

I have the Sattelite L955-S5370 (Windows 8). I noticed that two instances of ImageReady.exe are running as processes. From my research, this is part of Adobe Photoshop. However, neither Photoshop nor Photoshop Express has ever been installed on this laptop. The only Adobe product that has ever been on this laptop, to the best of my knowledge, was Adobe Reader.
I'm not complaining; these processes don't seem to be causing any problem, from what I can tell. I'm just wondering how in the heck they got onto my laptop?

There are only so many file names. Some with the same name are different files. And of course Adobe may use the file for many products.
    For clues..
       a. locate the path to the file
       b. right-click the file, click Properties, and look at the Details tab.
