Sattellite A40: Driver for Suse 9.0 Linux
Hi, .... new here, ..... I installed suse9.0 about 8 months ago, I like it, but I would like to start loading proper drivers for the hardware, the defaults allowed it to work adquetly .... linux has me confussed on a fair amount of terminology, .... could someone direct me as where to find drivers for my laptop.
thanks for your help
Hello
Unfortunately, on the Toshiba driver download page you can find only drivers for Microsoft Windows OS.
There are no Linux drivers.
All Toshiba notebooks use only the Windows operating systems. In this case the drivers are designed only for WIN OS.

Satellite A100-1k7:Need Atheros 5007eg driver for Ubuntu 7.10 Linux
Hi
I'm the proud owner of an A100-1k7 laptop upgraded to a total of 2Gb Ram.
I tried to install my new discovery, Ubuntu 7.10 onto it. I succeeded of course:)
However I do have on issue which I can't figure out myself.
My wifi adapter is not running. It's one of those atheros 5007eg's.
I tried to find a driver but couldn't find one.
Madwifi doesn't support it yet and ndiswrapper, well that's a bit out of my league I suppose.
I tried different tutorials but all of them didn't work for me.
I got this far:
When i give ndiswrapper the driver install command (i'm using a winxp 32bit driver) it shouts driver already installed.
But when i try to see if it works i get the message wrong driver.
Could anyone please give me a good working tutorial on how to install drivers for this wifi adapter?
And please bare in mind i'm an absolute new regarding linux based operating systems.... so a tutorial which i could simply copy and paste into my terminal would be a gift of the gods to me:)
Please forgive me for my poor English since it is not my native language.
Kind regards,
BasHello Martyna
>because it's not good answer that Linux is not recommended for Toshiba.
In my opinion you have misunderstand something here. I really do not know where you have founded info that Linux is not recommended for Toshiba notebooks. Believe me it is definitely wrong. There are many different Linux distributions and versions that you can use with Toshiba notebooks.
I see there just one problem and it is official Linux support. As you know Toshiba does not support Linux and at the moment you are on your own. Linux OS is very popular and I hope that more and more notebook manufacturers will start with official Linux support.
Bye and good luck! -
LAN(wired connection) Driver for G500 64 bit linux systems
Hi,
I installed different 64 bit OS of Linux (Fedora18, Debian7, Ubuntu12.4) on my Lenovo G500 but LAN did not work either of them.
I found out that the LAN driver was not automatically installed.
However with 32bit ubuntu, the LAN drivers installed automatically.
At my workplace I am supposed to use LAN connection only. Please let me know if any 64bit LAN drivers are available for linux and the link, where I can download those from??
Thank you.My G500 Runs Debian Jessie beautifully -- dual -booted with Doze 8.1. I used gparted to shrink the Doze partition to make room for 4 linux partitions: swap, Linux1, Linux2 and (the largest) home partition.

I'm looking for a place to download an Oracle JDBC driver for Linux. I have installed Oracle 8.1.5 for Linux, but don't find the driver either in the installation, nor on the CD. Can anyone point me to someplace I might be able to find it?
Also, generic help in setting this up to work, JDBC API calls would also be of great help.
Thanks.Luis Claudio Rodrigues da Silveira (guest) wrote:

1) You need classes111.zip usually located at
$ORACLE_HONE/jdbc/lib.
2) Add classes111.zip to CLASSPATH and export
3) If you use thin driver your code should look like:
Class.forName ("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
// Connect to the database
// You must put a database name after the @ sign in the
connection URL.
// You can use either the fully specified SQL*net syntax or
a short cut
// syntax as <host>:<port>:<sid>. The example uses the
short cut syntax.
Connection conn =
DriverManager.getConnection
(jdbc:oracle:thin:@hostname:port:ORACLE_SID,
USER_NAME, PASSWOED);

Linux driver for wireless PCMCIA card CD54G2
I puchased a wireless PCMCIA card - doesn't say who produced it, but is says: "Marketing name: CB54G2", so I guess it is made by MSI.
I have dual boot laptop - WinXP and Linux Suse 9.1 Professional. I have no problem using this card under WinXp, but I am looking for a Linux driver for this card. Any idea where I find it?
Thanks,
ZalekHi,

How to format a hard drive for Linux?
I have a hdd (500gb) that used to be my internal drive for my MBP 2012. It currently has Mac OS 10.10 and Ubuntu 14.04. I want to erase the drive though so I can make it strictly for Linux. The question is which format do I choose in disk utility. These are my options:
Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
Mac OS Extended (Journaled, Encrypted)
Mac OS Extended (Case-sensitive, Journaled)
Mac OS Extended (Case-sensitive, Journaled, Encrypted)
MS-DOS (FAT)
ExFAT
Thanks in advanceFormat it from the Linux installer. You cannot format it using Disk Utility because you cannot format a startup volume.

SQL Server Driver for Linux causes Segmentation Fault
Hello,
I'm using the SQL Server Driver 11.0.1790 on Linux with mod_perl and Apache. While running fine with all my CLI Perl apps I occasionally get Segmentation Faults when using it from within mod_perl applications. Sometimes every other connect to the database
segfaults. I've created a core dump and did a stack backtrace:
Loaded symbols for /usr/lib/../lib64/libxml2.so.2

Can onebody help fixing this issue?
Best regards,
StephanHi Stephan,
This is a bug in the unixODBC Driver Manager 2.3.0. Essentially, you can only have one HDBC per HENV. The mod_perl must be creating the connections upon the same HENV.
The bug appears to be fixed in version 2.3.1 but we have not yet certified that out driver can work with 2.3.1. See the 2.3.1 release notes at
http://www.unixodbc.org/ where the last item says:
"Driver version was not being held when a second connection was made to the driver"
The Driver Manager would "forget" that we are an ODBC V3 driver and try intereacting with us as an ODBC V2 driver for the second connection (which fails).
The workaround is to create a new HENV for each connection but I'm not sure if this is possible in mod_perl. -
I bought a new computer a couple of months ago. Equipped with the MSI GeForce4 Ti 4400 128 MB DDR graphics card. It works fine in Win XP, but when I boot in Redhat linux 8.0 things get nasty! The X server dies a couple of times and finally comes alive in a low resolution and few coluors with the vesa driver. The nv driver kills the X-server. So I tried to search the CD¶ that came with the board for linux drivers, but could not find any linux SW at all!
OK. No problem. Just go to MSI website and download it there, I thougt. The product description for my card clearly stated that there were linux drivers for MSI GF4 Ti 4400 DDR. Following the link under "related" named "drivers" I thought I would find something to cure my flickering screen in a resolution so low it is barely readable. But no. Nothing. Only different microsoft drivers for their OS.
So where are the needed drivers for my card under linux? Any ideas would be gratefully appriciated.Quote

SQLGetDiagRecW is buggy in the ODBC driver for linux
We have been using the Microsoft ODBC Driver 11 for SQL Server on Linux with a Qt based application and noticed that error messages are truncated and end with a string of garbage.
We traced it down to the point where the driver manager in unixODBC calls SQLGetDiagRecW on the driver.
This is the signature of the SQLGetDiagRec function, which shares the interface with its wide char counterpart, as described in this documentation page: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms716256(v=vs.85).aspx
SQLRETURN SQLGetDiagRec(
SQLSMALLINT HandleType,
SQLHANDLE Handle,
SQLSMALLINT RecNumber,
SQLCHAR * SQLState,
SQLINTEGER * NativeErrorPtr,
SQLCHAR * MessageText,
SQLSMALLINT BufferLength,
SQLSMALLINT * TextLengthPtr);
The function is called twice, once with a null pointer as
MessageText to obtain the length of the message text in characters in the
TextLengthPtr parameter. Once this is obtained, Qt then allocates a buffer large enough to hold that number of characters.
It is important to note that we are dealing with wide characters here, so each character is two bytes.
Now Qt calls SQLGetDiagRecW, this time with MessageText pointing to the newly allocated buffer and it's length (in characters) as the BufferLength parameter.
Only now the function seems to interpret this BufferLength as size of the buffer in bytes, and since it has not enough space to write its text, it writes only half of the message in MessageText and returns SQL_SUCCESS_WITH_INFO.
Unfortunately Qt treats this return code the same way it treats a SQL_SUCCESS so we never get the other half.
However, the fact remains that the driver is outputting sizes in characters and then interpreting them as sizes in bytes.
In the documentation linked above, both BufferLength and TextLengthPtr are described in terms of
characters. But I also notice that a bit further down, it mentions StringLengthPtr in terms of
bytes.
We found also this KB article ( https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/kbview/243526?wa=wsignin1.0 ) that seems to imply that the description was such that matches the observed behavior, but while the description has been changed, the wrong behavior
remains.
I've tried to report this in the Connect site but it has been impossible, I always get an error saying that I'm not authorized. Anybody knows how else I can reach the developers?
For now we have patched unixODBC to duplicate the value of the output TextLengthPtr on the first call, so that Qt allocates twice the amount of memory than it is really needed. This is done as a safer counterpart to telling
the driver we have double the space, since that would bring problems if and when the driver is fixed.I suspect you just need to get rid of the 'as rcount' clause in your select statement.

Oracle 8i/9i ODBC driver for ARM-Linux
I may need an ODBC driver for Oracle
for the arm-linux platform in the near
future. Does anyone know if such a thing
exists and where to get it?
MichaelOracle doesn't produce such a beast. The main problem in doing so is that Microsoft provides a lot of the infrastructure for ODBC on Windows only. In order to use ODBC on another platform, you have to port that infrastructure, which Oracle isn't likely to do.
You might try Merant or <http://www.unixodbc.com>, both of which provide third-party drivers that might be appropriate for you.

ODBC Driver for Redhat Linux Configuring
HI,
Any one know the procedure of installing ODBC driver in redhat linux.
The requirement is the application is running on windows and oracle 11g database is running on linux. All the Exe of application uses ODBC driver to connect to oracle database 11g.
Is there any process to install ODBC driver in linux so that i can ran all the EXE's in linux. Can any one provide the docs on these topics.
i have read some topics and enquired most of them they said can be done using the wine utility in linux. So i think to post in Oracle forum so that i get some clue to proceed.
Thanks in advance...
SAIOracle provides a driver that allows a Windows client to connect to databases on any platform. If you're looking for an ODBC driver for a non-Windows client, there are a few third parties that produce these sorts of drivers (DataDirect comes to mind), but most of them are commercial. http://www.unixodbc.org is an open source project to do the same thing.
