Saturated Bounce file

I am using Logic Pro on a Mac Book Pro with the last version of Leopard.
I also have a M-Audio Fast Track Ultra for output and input of Midi items.
I have a problem when I bounce a simple Logic file (just one instrument track with piano). I export it into iTunes and the result is very saturated (like a strong overdrive effect on loud ans sharp parts).
The original file plays nicely from Logic with the same environment.
I tried all formats of Bounce (Aif, normalized or not, 16 bits with Dithering, 24 bits without Dithering, mp3,AAC - mp4, even Wave). Always the saturated effect.
Thank you for your help

Turning off EQ in iTunes helps but does not solve the problem.
Turning off Sound enhancer does not change anything.

  • How can i increase the volume on bounced files.

for some reason when i'm working on songs, recording tracks, and importing files from Reason, the volume sounds normal.
when ever i bounce files the volume is lower than my other mp3s.
are there any particular settings that i have to use in order to have higher volume for the bounced file.
i'm really new at this software so i need a really dumbed down detailed explanation. i would really appreciate help on this subject.
macbook pro   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Take a look at page 272 in the manual. In each channel strip there is the word "Inserts" and a little down arrow. If you click and hold a menu appears which contains a list of presets. There are predefined mastering settings under "01 Final Master (stereo)" and so on. I find these are more than good enough for demo's or as a place to start tweaking.

  • Bounced files do NOT appear in finder immediately

I'm posting this in the Logic forum, because I believe it is an issue only happening with Logic and the Finder in 10.5.4.
When I bounce files from Logic7 or Logic8, and then switch to the "Bounces" folder in the finder window that I usually have open in the background, the file that I just bounced does not appear there. The only way to get it to appear is to manually browse to another folder and then back to the "Bounces" folder so that the finder refreshes that folder's contents.
This was not a problem until I upgraded to 10.5.4 and Logic8. I was previously on 10.4.9 and Logic 7.2.
Other apps seem to be able to save documents and files to a folder, and they immediately appear in the finder window. What gives? Anyone else noticing this behavior?
This is giving me a headache and carpal tunnel pain. It's a 2 for 1 special!

But I've seen it with FCP, Compressor, Snapz Pro video capture and other software as well, that I can't bring to mind at the moment.
Ok - so if it's quite common, then indeed it could be a common implementation of file writing that's not quite working right (due to changes in the OS perhaps) or is particular system routines themselves that have this issue. Makes sense.
What I am pretty sure about is that I've seen it more often with software that takes a while to stream its data to the file (which might imply that there is a bug in the file close routine or that the app still have the file handle open when it ought to close it) and that might imply it a problem in the Pro Apps support routines (if they handle streaming to files, which I doubt) or some aspect of file management which, guessing that these things are all done through OS file management objects, would imply incorrect use of the object or a bug in the object itself.
Yes, agreed. A much more eloquently written version of my above paragraph
I've certainly seen it elsewhere so it's wider than Logic.
I'm not up on the OSX reporting things - are there OSX feedback places where you can report OS bugs? There's always the ADC bug tracker I guess...

  • If i bounce my project the bounced file is not the same as the original. it has about ten seconds at the beginning free and the end is 10 sec cut off. what is the bug?

if i bounce my project the bounced file is not the same as the original.
it has about ten seconds at the beginning free and the end is 10 sec cut off.
    what is the bug?
i start the bouncing with the transport lokator as 1 1 1   1
and ends where it sould be over.
but the first 10 seconds are silent then it starts with the beginning of the song and the last 10 seconds are cut off.

  • Bounce file exceeds maximum size. How to change CAF

I'm new at editing recordings. I only record my speaking engagements. They are rarely under one hour. When I tried to "share" to my iTunes, I got an error message that says
"The bounce file exceeds the maximum file size. Please change the format to CAF, or decrease the bounce range."
I have NO idea what that means, and NO idea where I would change the format. Could someone please enlighten me?
I really appreciate your volunteering your time to share this information!
ALSO: If I wanted to divide a recording into parts, how would one go about doing this? (maybe making 20 minute sections - and that would decrease the size of the file).
    MANY thanks,
    Lianda

When you are sharing to iTunes, try a different quality setting, not AIFF.  A lower quality setting will give a smaller file size.
To export only a part of the song, enable "Export Cycle Region only" and then use the Cycle region (the yellow bar in the ruler), to mark the part of the song you want to share to iTunes.

  • Bounced Files cut off at beginnings and endings.

    Hello,
I am having trouble with bouncing files from Logic. This is a simple cut and bounce from Logic to create track IDs on CD. The problem is, after the bounce, the beginnings and endings are truncated with the result of awful clicks between tracks. The regions are meant to run continuously, and they do, in Logic. When I line them up in the burner program, though, they are not the same region length.
I have already tried increasing the division and adjusting the tempo and meter settings in the transport. As far as I can tell, the regions are exactly as they should be. I also checked the beginning and end times of the selected region in the bounce dialog.
    What am I missing?

  • Bounced File is extremely LOUD white noise

I've never had this happen before but 3 out of 5 24bit WAV files were white noise, very very loud white noise. Anyone else experienced this, I'm fidgeting with settings to see what might be causing it, but my hardware hasn't changed so I think it's a Logic bug

There used to be an old, old bug in Mac Logic that would sometimes bounce WAV files as white noise but be perfectly fine if the bounced files were AIF.
Just tossing that out as that was years ago.

  • Silence at the beginning of a bounced file

most times that i bounce a wave file and convert it into an mp3, i get about 20 seconds of silence at the beginning of the file and the last 20 seconds of the song is cut off. any suggestions?
    thanks!

Have you checked the Locators for Bouncing? Look exactly how long your song is and where the left and right Locators are set to. If you select all regions and use the command "set locators by region lenght" and then activate cycle mode you should be fine (if there is a reverb at the end watch out for the right locator though).

  • Maximum Bouncing file size?

Im using Logic to record class lectures which end up being anywhere from 2 1/2-3 1/2 hours long at the longest.
They are being bounced as MP3's yet, when i go to bounce the file it is telling me that i have exceeded the 2.0 GB maximum...
The shorter classes, 2 hours, dont have this problem..
    help?

yes if CAF is selected you can record ''forever'' depending on your free space...it takes lots lots of space on your HD ...You can convert to AAC or MP3 and delete the CAF files after recording and editing though

  • Bouncing Files: Too Large/Small and doesn't play.

    Hey.
My bouncing function, having been fine for ages, has now gone wierd. In the Bouncing menu, it tells me the files are gonna be ridiculously huge, like over 100MB. Then when I try to play it in itunes or attach them to an email, it says its 4KB in size and doesn't play it.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks.

  • Bouncing files in Logic Express 9

I am using Logic Express 9. I brought some GarageBand files into Logic to mix. I then bounced the mix to an AIF file for mastering. Later I decided I didn't like the mix and decided to remix the song. I bounced the new mix to a new AIF file but the new AIF file still plays the old mix. I even trashed everything in Logic Express and went back to square 1 and started all over again. But every time I bounce to an AIF file it still plays the old mix.  Why is this happening?  How can I get it to recognize my new mix?  Please help.
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, assign a new name to your new bouce, like "project1.aiff" instead that "project.aiff",
Then rename if you want to call it as the past bounce. cheers

  • Mastering Plug-Ins on the Bounced File or The Multitrack Mix B4 Bounce?

hey guys..im running logic express and wanted to know should i place the mastering plug-ins on the multitrack mix or should i mix, bounce out, import back in and place the plug-ins on that file?

    Hi,
    Either way can work.
If you want to easily try different effects on the mixed-down version, do it that way.
If you know how you want the effects to be used, go ahead and apply them to the multi-track version.

  • Can't play bounced file in iTunes

I've googled this issue and haven't been able to find a straight answer or solution. I can't play my bounced Logic Pro music file in iTunes. I bounced it as a .wav and also as .aiff...but to no avail. I'm able to play the file in my VLC player, but can't play it in iTunes. That, coupled with all the other bugs in Logic Pro, is extremely frustrating.
Is it culprit Logic, or iTunes? From what I understand iTunes still supports .wav & .aiff files so I shouldn't have an issue. Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Did you bounce at 44.1kHz, 16 bit? AIFF or AAC or MP3 should be fine for iTunes, but sample rate and bit depth is important.

  • Bounced file is louder than original..??

After bounced an audio file (with various effects on its track), I put it on an adiacent track (which hasn't any affect) and I can hear and see it's louder that original.
    How can it be possible?
    (Normalize option is disabled)
I get this strange result either with DigiCoreAudio or AppleCoreAudio driver.
On Logic 7.2.3 all is fine
    Any other has this problem?

    Hi,
have you chosen split stereo as destination format for the bounce?
    No, I choose interleaved
Which pan law are you using (-3dB compensated will give you 3dB increase for a split stereo audio file to the output in playback)?
I don't know what you mean with "pan law" and where I can set this option.
    Let me know
I found the "pan law" option and I saw it is on "-3db compensated"

  • Bounce file not created or I can't find it (weird)

I recorded a song at 24/96. I then chose to bounce it to MP3. I got the message that it would have to degrade it, and I chose yes to convert. It went through the process but I can't find the file. Any ideas?
I want to record at 24/96 for the quality, but sometimes I need to bounce to a cheap MP3 for a friend just to get a sense of the song. Is this not normal?
Also, when I bounce to Apple Lossless, the file size is 102MB.. just for a 3-4 minute song. Is this normal? Is it because I'm at 24/96 and I really shouldn't be? I would hope/think that I could record at the quality 24/96 but then get smaller file sizes so long as I'm willing to accepts the degradation during bounce.
    Thanks.

The file should be in the bounces folder in your project folder, but the only way to find out for sure is to invoke the bounce dialog again and see where it points to. That is where the last bounce was saved to.
