Save a BBC news clip?

Is there a way to save BBC news video clips from the (embedded??) player?
Thanks

The BBC is still getting its act together for the iPlayer downloader for Macs that they promised for this month!
In the meantime there is this:
http://tom-tech.com/iplayerautomator/iPlayer-DL_Automator/OS_XGUI.html
which I have heard works fine on Leopard, but not on (my) Tiger!
Doubtful if this, or the BBC's version, will work outside the UK.

  • BBC News clips won't play

Video clips in BBC news items keep coming up with "Content doesn't appear to be working. Try again later" when I try to view them in Pale Moon (Firefox by another name) but they play with no problem in SeaMonkey. A setting isn't right in Pale Moon but I don't know which one. I don't often watch clips but every now and then there is one of interest.
I haven't installed any Add-Ons or Plug-Ins over and above any that come ready installed apart, maybe, for Fox-It, my .pdf reader.
Any suggestions as to what the problem is and how to resolve it please?

Ok good luck with the repairs.

  • Video/audio clips don't work on BBC news/sport (will on I.Express)

Message 'This does not appear to be working ' om video and audio clips on bbc news ans sports sited.

Audio source of the file that doesn't work in your page but does work "directly".
The movie worked for me using Safari.
I would expand the page layout so that you don't have a scroll on the "video" side of the page.
Something is covering the movie controller for your audio file and it also covers your "back" link.
I also had trouble downloading any of your Practice Scales. They "paused" for a few minutes before the download began.
Hope this helps you sort out the issues.

I'm unable to save my Local News settings (BBCPostcoder cookie) in the BBC Home Page although my Firefox Privacy settings are set for accepting cookies from sites(there are no exceptions), accept 3rd party cookies and until they expire. The cookie is shown as being stored under the bbc.co.uk menu in the stored cookies folder.

Also, contacted the BBC with this problem and they advised it was an issue with their software that was corrected with a software patch released on 28 Jun 2010.

    1. Why don't you purchase it from Apple? I'd be wary with eBay sellers - and, after all, Apple posts their stuff everywhere, even if you live in a country without a localized Apple store webpage or local (physical) Apple stores.
    2. when it comes to adapters / cables like these, NEVER purchase ANYTHING non-Apple-manufactured! Most of the cheap(er) knock-offs don't work! That is, don't try to save on going for a cheaper alternative - it most likely won't work.

  • Re: links to the bbc news player don't start video streams

this old thread has been archived (no replies allowed), but i think i've come up with a workaround to safari's refusal to play the proper bbc video clip on subsequent attempts...autoplay the file externally.
if you use pithHelmet, you can get the script off the rule exchange.
    caveats:
    1. uses realplayer
    2. might only work for the international version.

    iBod,
I'm more baffled now! I created a couple of new accounts (one admin, one standard) and tried them. Both had the same outcome:
    1. Started Safari.
    2. Went to http://news.bbc.co.uk
    3. Clicked link to display a video news clip (was one about dummies!).
    4. BBC News Player window popped up, asking if I wanted Real Player or Windows Media. Chose Real Player.
    5. Window refreshed with the correct video clip.
    6. Quit and restarted Safari and tried again. OK.
    7. Quit and restarted Safari and tried again. Not it fails persistently. (By fail I mean the player window comes up but the video clip is only a 3-second clip of a BBC logo.)
I tried the second new account and similarly. For the first few goes it works properly. After a few goes it fails.

  • Links to the BBC News Player don't start video streams.

On the BBC News website there are numerous links to video news streams which should start playing in the BBC News Player (a new popup windows with either web content and a video stream in either Windows Media Player or Real Player format).
Whenever I go to the BBC News website (http://news.bbc.co.uk) and click a video link it:
    1. Opens up the BBC News Player in a popup window.
    2. Shows a short BBC News Logo clip of 3 seconds.
    3. Then does nothing.
What it should do for step 3 is to play the relevant video stream.
I've tried this in several Mac browsers:
Safari (2.0.2) = FAILS (as described above)
Inernet Explorer (5.2) = WORKS (but without CSS the html looks messy)
    Camino (0.8.4) = WORKS
    Opera (8.0.2) = WORKS
    Firefox (1.0.2) = WORKS
Q1. So why does it work in all the above browsers, but in Safari.
Q2. Do other people get it work in Safari or not?
    John.

  • How to save an edited viceo clip in premier elements 11 to my organizer (windows 07)?

How to save an edited video clip in premier elements to my organizer so that I can add teh edited video clip to my slide show on windows 7 operating system?

This is not Adobe. We are Premiere Elements users trying to help other Premiere Elements users with their Premiere Elements workflows. Under those conditions, only Adobe may have the opportunity to access your computer in troubleshooting session between you and them. You can use the following link to contact Adobe via its Adobe Chat.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?product=premiere-elements&topic=using-my-product-or-se rvice
When the link opens, click on the statement "I still need help" to bring up Adobe Chat.
I have no idea if they will charge you a fee for the service ($40 US dollar/hour). It might not even help you (fee or no fee) because you do not have the latest version of Premiere Elements.
What you ask is easy enough. Let me try again with a step by step to see if we can get this working for you in principle and then fine tune the details.
    1. Export your Timeline to a file, using Publish+Share/Computer and then one of the choices
Adobe Flash Video, MPEG, AVCHD, AVI, Windows Media, QuickTime, Image, Audio. I do not know what your project settings are, but I am going to guess at NTSC/AVCHD/Full HD1080i30. That would represent 1920 x 1080 @ 29.97 interlaced frames per second.
The following is going to be a mini test run in principle so we will cut to the core and overlook some things.
    Go to Publish + Share/Computer/AVCHD/ and set Presets = MP4 - H.264 1920 x 1080p30.
Note that there is a field for Save In: near where you set Presets. Set the Save In for Libraries/Documents not C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe  Premiere Elements 11. Keep out of the Program Files for matters such as these.
Go to the Elements Organizer 12 File Menu/Get Photos and Videos/From Files and Folders and then browse to and select your MP4 file that you have saved in Libraries/Documents.
You now should have your video represented in the Elements Organizer 12 with a thumbnail.
Please let us know if that works for you. If not, then please let us know where you need supplemental help to get the task completed. I will re-write if necessary.
We will be watching for your results.
    Thank you.
    ATR
Add On...A little side note for later...If you took your file saved to the computer hard drive and imported that back into Premiere Elements with Premiere Elements' Add Media/Files and Folders, you would get
    a. the file imported into a new project
    but also
    b. a copy of the file automatically placed in the Elements Organizer 12.
If the ideas seem overwhelming, please take the steps on one at a time and follow exactly what is written. You should do fine.

  • Firefox 3.6.12 crashes whenever I try to play a video on BBC news website.

I'm running Os x 10.5.8 and have fully updated my adobe flash for firefox. Every time I try to play a video on the BBC news website Firefox freezes, then crashes. Sometimes, but rarely upon reopening the video will work and it wont crash again. This problem only started with the latest patch on firefox. I run "NoScript" and "Adblock" but even with these turned off the problem persists.

I'm on Mac OSX 10.6.5 - and exactly the same problem. It seemed to start with Firefox 3.6.12 and 'latest' Flash upgrade (both done at the same time). Ive tried going back to the previous versions, but makes no difference.
Seems to be on 'auto-play' news video clips within the BBC news website, the loading info is 'stats.bbc.co.uk' as the dots spin - then crash...
Very annoying - is anybody looking at this Mozilla?

  • Can I save/transport multiple layered clips?

hello. new to fce here, this might be super basic but..
is there a way that I can save multiple clips as one? what i mean is I have some layered clips, some clips that I've added effects to, some clips that I've cropped. now say I want to put a series of clips that I've tinkered with into a new sequence, how can I do this without having to drag/re-align each one at a time? or more ideally, can I turn multiple clips that I've layered into one new clip? I've tried highlighting 3 or 4 clips at once, then right-clicking to "make independent clip" but it just makes copies of each individual clip. is there a way to make all these clips into one clip?
    thanks for any help.

    Two ways:
    1) Click on the individual clips you want to move as a group while holding the Shift key down so that they all get selected. Once they are all selected, type Command + C to copy them. Then move to your new sequence, and type Command + V to paste them in place in the same configuration they were in your original sequence.
    2) Nest the clips. For more information about nesting, see page 577 of the FCE user manual.
    Hope this helps.

  • Imported favorite bookmarks from IE and now all links are to BBC news

I downloaded and installed Firefox, imported favorites/bookmarks from IE running Windows 7, and now all the bookmarks that seemed to have been imported point to BBC news link.
    Any suggestions?

Open the Firefox SafeMode and select '''Delete all bookmarks except for backups''', then Continue in SafeMode. <br />
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode
Then close Firefox. Open IE and use '''File > Import/Export - Export to HTML file''' and save that file to the Desktop. Close IE.
Then open Firefox and open '''Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks -> Import & Backup - Import HTML... = From HTML file ''and select that file you saved on the Desktop'' '''.
Hopefully that method will work better.

  • Unable to open BBC news video

On the BBC website I try to open news clip videos but it informs me I do not have the latest adobe software.  I then download it but it still comes up with the comment 'unable to view as you do not have the latest version of adobe flash'.  I can view the ITN news clips, You Tube and MSN video clips.  What am I doing wrong?

    Hi glspaobidos,
Please let me know what OS and browser are you using.
You might want to refer to the KB Doc :

  • I can't play yahoo news clips

I can play video clips from youtube, facebook, etc., but when I click on a video news clip on my yahoo home page, it tries, but does not play. Thank you for any help, I have tried all that I could find!

The player uses Flash video in the case of the ABC News, and QuickTime for the CNN Sports. There's a slight glitch when playing QuickTime in that you have to pause and play the video for it to start updating correctly. I can't easily tell what codec they're using, the video is save disabled, but I suspect you have a QuickTime that is recent enough to play the video.
For the ABC News clips, QuickTime shouldn't be involved at all. Make sure you haven't set QuickTime to play SWF content in your browser, because whether it's Sorenson Spark or On2 VP6 video, QuickTime won't cope with playing Flash movies that contain those.
Having said that, if the video is really FLV you might be able to play it using QuickTime by installing the Perian component (http://perian.org/). But I think that it would be much safer to just let Flash play Flash content.

  • Bring in audio, sync it, create new clip?

We shot and recorded "dirty" audio with the camera mic, and clean audio with an external recorder. We must have done something right, because the "external" audio seems to run at the same speed as the "dirty camera" audio. Miracles will never cease.
Anyway, for each clip I want to bring in the "clean" audio, sync it with the video/"dirty" audio, drop the "dirty" audio, and save the clip with video and "clean" audio only. Or make a new clip, or whatever. So once this is done, I can start editing the project with video and "clean" audio in each clip.
Is this possible? Anybody know how?
(P.S.: shot with the Panasonic AG-HMC150, 1080 24P at the highest data rate; Log and Transfer to ProRes 422; looks amazing!)

Experience....manual reading. But I admit I don't refer to the manual until I need to do something I don't know how to do. But that is often..
