Save a job in progress

I am using AME CS 5.5. Is it possible in that version (or any newer version) to save a job already in progress, close out the program, and come back to it later at the point it was already encoded through?

The ability to 'resume' would be veyr useful to me. Often I need to restart the machine, forcing a restart of long encodes with lots of AE going on.

You can do this by opening AppleScript Editor (/Applications/Utilities). You can copy and paste the following into an editor window --
on open printJobs
tell application "Finder"
set trapFile to quoted form of POSIX path of (printJobs as string)
end tell
set defaultPrinter to do shell script "lpstat -d | awk -F: '{print $2}'"
do shell script "lpr -P" & defaultPrinter & " -q " & trapFile
end open
Save the file as an Application. You can name it something like Hold Print Job. Then just put it in the PDF Services directory in the Library directory of your Home folder <yourname>/Library/PDF Services. You may need to make the PDF Services directory as it may not already be there.
Once the file is in place, you can use it by using the PDF drop down menu at the bottom left of a print window. That will send the file to the printer and put it on hold. Others can still use the printer. You can then print your file whenever you want. Just open the print queue as mentioned by benwiggy. Highlight the job that is Paused. You will see a little curly icon at the very right (looks like a reload icon in a web browser). Just click that icon and the job will start printing.

Background job runs in application server , and your local /network drive is basically presentation server. So you cant save it in local /network drive from the job itself. But to download files, you can write the files to the application server using DATASET, in the background and then use the transaction CG3Y in the foreground to download the file.

Is there a way to save print job for later?

Is there a way to have print jobs saved for a later date/time? The only solution I can think of is to save the document/web page/file to a folder (e.g., "print later"). However, I'd rather just be able to hit print and in the print dialogue "send" the job to a print queue that I can open later.
For the curious, there are two often reoccuring situations where I want to save a print job for later: 1) I work late at night when my family is asleep and my house is not large enough to avoid disturbing their sleep by printing; and 2) I need to print out a 50+ page work document and I don't want to use my home computer to do it.
I'll appreciate whatever tips, recommendations, thoughts I get.

Anyone out there using Lightroom's new book feature? I can't find where to save a book that I am in progress with in Lightroom 4.2. All help appreciated. Why doesn't LR have a "Save as" feature like 99% of all other programs on the planet? !"{}#@!!!

Thanks for the reply - if only it was that easy. The "create saved book" option in preview is there when I first go to the Book module but it is no longer there once I am working on the book and want to subsequently save it. Where did it go and how do I get it back? Please help as this is most frustrating. Thank you.

Oracle Job in progress for too long (3 days)

i am using oracle 10.2.0.3 database. One of the oracle job is in progress for almost 3 days & in active state.
i tried enabling trace but didnt get anything. please let me know what should i do. EM also dont show any current or previous SQL & the wait event is "jobq slave wait" ....
please help.....

Automated Monitoring Scheduled Job "In Progress" - PC

Hello Experts,
When scheduling a job for automated control monitoring in NWBC, the job status is showing as "in progress" and not getting fully executed. Also the job log is empty.

It could be some connector issue.
You can try to Create a new connector in the system and Maintain the newly created connector in the SPRO under Governance Risk and Compliance->Process Control->Legacy Automated
Monitoring->Automated Testing and Monitoring->Register Connectors.
Schedule a new job in the planner and check the results.

How to cancel a print job in progress

I have a HP C5580. When i was using Windows ME on my former PC, I could easily go to Printers, select the 5580, hit documents in queue, and hit cancel , and the printer stopped.
Got a new Compaq PC with Windows 7, and I can't figure out how to cancel a print job mid stream. I go to Printers and Devices, giet the page that allows me to view the print jobs in queue, I hit "print job in process", but the "Cancel" is not in bold print and I can'tfind any other way to cancel the job.
Help !

The easiest way to cancel a print job would be by pressing the cancle button on the front panel. This is the "X" button near the right side of the control panel, see pages 10 and 11 of the user manual here.

How do I save a book in progress to an external drive in LR 4 to return to for later editing?

I'm working on a computer at school and can't save to the computer's hard drive. I have a 400GB external drive that I'd like to save it to then pick up where I left off tom. Can anyone help or do I have to begin anew each time?

The book gets saved as a project in the LR catalog which will be on the main machine. However if your images are on the external hard drive you can continue where you left off as soon as you reconnect the external hard drive, and provided you have made no changes/edits outside of Lightroom.
If you are talking about continuing where you left off on a different machine; that’s not possible unless you export the entire catalog.

How to save background job in variant

I have scheduled one report programme in background and its moved to quality. But in quality they are not able to see the background job which i scheduled in test server. While saving the job in test server, its not asked for any request. Is this the problem? (or) They have to create the background job in quality server ? (Or) any other problem? Please let me know asap pls.

Request security team to give you access to SM36.
I believe you should have your manager approval before.....
Only ABAP Programs along with the variants can be transported between development , testing(quality) and production severs.
You need to create a job in the quality/production by giving the program name.
Also, you can execute the program in background by going to se38->Execute in background.

COMBINE FILES: save job?

Hi everyone!
I'm combining over 100 MS-office documents into one PDF using the COMBINE FILES function in Acrobat 8 standard.
But every time one of the documents is updated it looks like I have to go through the whole process all over again.... drop the files, sort them, edit selected file contents.
Is there any way to save the job so that the next time I want to combine the same files, I do not need to do it all from scratch?

If it's only a few documents you can use Document>Replace pages to insert the revised one over the old one.

Fail to save a Cron job (SOLVED)

I can't save a new cron job in my system. I use
crontab -e
or
export VISUAL=gedit && crontab -e
to add a new job. These commands open a /tmp/crontab.XXXX file that after saving, cron jobs are NOT updated!
It's too strange to me* !
I run
nano -w /var/spool/cron/root
and the cron job is listed now by
crontab -l
Why I can't save cron jobs directly from crontab -e?
( I have read the vi man pages :-) )
