Save a legacy website to disk?

I have discovered a web site that has important information and advice regarding a photographic process that is important to me professionally. The site appears to no longer be updated, and reading between the lines makes me fear that the owner is too ill to keep it up or may even have died. I desperately want to save this site before it disappears. It appears appears to have 90+ pages. Short of saving every page as a PDF, which certainly would work, is there a way to start at the HOME page and automatically save the pages to disk? As linked pages? Or, failing that, as PDFs?
Thanks.

David ..
You cans save each page as a web archive... it will take time.
From your Safari menu bar click File > Save As then select Web Archive from the Format pop up menu.
Save each page to a folder then copy the folder to a disc.

• Upgrading Windows 7 (Legacy BIOS/MBR Disk) to Windows 8 (UEFI/GPT/Secure Boot)

Hi there,
I've recently purchased a W530 with Windows 7 pre-installed.  Ultimately, I'd like to replace this with Window 8 + Secure Boot.  I believe I can get Windows 8 via the Microsoft Upgrade offer for a reasonable price, since this was a recent purchase.
What's the best way to reach my goal?
The Windows 7 install uses Legacy BIOS to boot with an MBR disk.
I had a quick look at Acronis, and I can see that it's possible that the "OS will be automatically converted to support UEFI booting" (http://www.acronis.com/support/documentation/ABR11/index.html#14021.html) when using it's tool.
If I don't use this approach, what can I do?  Can I:
1. Use Rescue and Recovery in Windows 7 (Legacy BIOS/MBR disk)
2. Wipe the drive and reformat it with GPT?
3. Install Windows 7 with UEFI enabled using the Rescue and Recovery made in step 1?
4. At this point, I would now have UEFI and GPT.
5. Perform an Upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and enable Secure Boot?
Any thoughts as to whether this would work?
Richard.

Hi richii,
The Acronis approach ends up in failure. Didn't give it a second look at the reason, since the tool it's not necessary. I also tried several other "automatic" tools without success.
The recovery approach will fail because it's tied up to BIOS boot.
But I've performed the conversion from BIOS to UEFI two times successfully. After some digging, is not SO hard. It's just... "undocumented". Very, very undocumented, hehe. I made a step-by-step guide: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/14286.converting-windows-bios-installatio...
Let me know if it helps you...
Anyway, if you don't have data/software, I would go for the clean install approach.
Cheers.
If I helped you, please give me some kudos! ^^

• Numbers won't save because it filled the disk

I keep some spreadsheets on a 40 MB encrypted disk image and even though there is only 1,351 KB of visible files on the disk, Numbers has filled the entire disk image with older versions. Now Numbers can't save changes to any of those documents, and neither Numbers nor the Finder can save new documents to the disk image. Is there any way to control this behavoir and instruct Numbers to use less space?
I've alread provided feedback to Apple about this issue, but I was hoping for a work around...
Thanks,
Chris

Christopher,
Another helper has suggested, offline, that it's the Versions information that inflate your storage requirement. You may File > Duplicate to create a copy of the file with no version history. After confirming that the copy is a good one, delete the original and your memory consumption should decrease.

Tim,
Are you trying to save the HTML output ? You might encounter probs. with that, but that is more due to IE security
settings than the Portal.
You might want to check your IE security settings.

• PS 7.0 - Cannot save patterns due to a disk error

Hey everyone. I have a lot of PS patterns saved which I use reguarly. I tried to save them because sometimes PS likes to reboot itself and lose the patterns and I have to mess around re-installing them. However, when I tried to save the patterns it came up to say "Cannot save patterns due to a disk error"
What am i doing wrong here? Have I run out of space? How can I fix this problem? I'm hesitant to close down my PS properly because I really dont want to have to go through saving all the patterns each time.
If I have run out of space, is there a way i can get more space
My computer isn't even a quarter full so i know i have plenty of space/memory
Please help!

If you use ZoneAlarm Extreme Security then try to disable Virtualization.
Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder.

• How to save iPhoto folders to external disk?

How to save iPhoto folders to external disk?

You are not clear
In iPhoto folders go not hold photos - they are organizanially ielements and hold other folder or albums
are you talking aobt events by any chance? What do you want to do?
To move the photos form events to an external drive select them and export - see the user tip on exporting for details on the options available
to run iPhoto with your library on an EHD
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

• Using I-Sight to save videos to your Hard Disk

Hi everyone!
I've got a Problem with my integrated I-Sight Cam:
IMovie doesn't recognize the camera if i want to capture a video... i've looked for a solution to this problem but i only found the information that it works with Quick Time Pro - but i don't wanna buy that. Has anyone a idea how it could work to capture videos and save them to your hard disk?
thanks, Nargilek
IMAC Core Duo 17"   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Try this . . . open iMovie and click on "Create New Project", then Select video format "iSight" and click on "Create". After the next window appears click on the small camera image in the title bar below the iSight movie image, then inside the iSight image click on "Record with iSight". Complete your movie and click again on "Recored With iSight to stop recording. Don't forget to save the movie.
Good luck.

• How to save image from Clipboard to disk?

Hello;
I want to take a screen capture of the entire screen, not only the front

I am able to simulate a PrintScreen key using a call to user32.dll

now in the clipboard to disk? I have searched NI's website high and low, and

LabVIEW 6.1

I've kind of done it "programmatically".... using the "system exec.vi" I've
started mspaint.exe... then, I paste the image and save it to disk (too bad
the last two steps are manually done!!!)
The limited documentation on System Exec says it has a Standard Input
terminal... but, I haven't figured out how to programmatically send CTRL-V
or ALT-E to the MSPAINT application as command inputs...
Any further ideas?

• Save the contents into hard disk on click of Save As button in Swing

Hi,
I have a JButton "Save As". On clicking the button, the contents in the JTextArea should be saved in the local hard disk by opening a Save As dialog box and allowing the user to save in any location.
Is it possible to do this? If so, please inform me how it could be done.

Hi,
Please find the code below.
try{
File f = new File("Out.txt");
FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream(f);
BufferedInputStream bis = new BufferedInputStream(fis); DataInputStream dis = new DataInputStream(bis); String stb = null;
JDialog w = null;
stb = new String();
stb = dis.readLine();
if(stb != null){
w = new JDialog();
final Container c = w.getContentPane();
c.setLayout(null);
w.setContentPane(c);
w.setResizable(true);
w.setTitle("Log Window");
w.setSize(330,500);
final JTextArea jt = new JTextArea();
JScrollPane jsp = new JScrollPane(jt);
jt.setLineWrap(true);
jt.setText("Records not available for the id's"+"\n"+stb);
jt.setBounds(10,10,285,500);
final JButton jbSave = new JButton("Save File As");
JPanel spacer = new JPanel();
spacer.setMinimumSize(new Dimension(50, 18));
spacer.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(50, 18));
JPanel jpButtons = new JPanel();
jpButtons.add(jbSave);
jpButtons.add(spacer);
jpButtons.setBorder(BorderFactory.createEtchedBorder());
JScrollPane scroll = new JScrollPane();
c.setLayout(new BorderLayout());
c.add(jt,BorderLayout.CENTER);
c.add(jpButtons, BorderLayout.SOUTH);
jbSave.addActionListener(new ActionListener()
public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e)
JFileChooser fileChooser = new JFileChooser();
int userOption = fileChooser.showSaveDialog(null);
if(userOption == JFileChooser.APPROVE_OPTION)
//*******************STATEMENTS TO BE ADDD****************** }
jt.getText()-----This is how I can get the contents from JTextArea.
But how I can save the contents. i.e on click of Save As button, Save dialog box opens, and I can choose the location and give the name. but if I go to the location I don't find the file....
Please guide me to finish this....

• Save as Photoshop PDF Scratch disk locked?

I searched  the forums, but apparently my issue only crops up when someone tries to launch PS. I can launch and do everything else just fine; however, I attempted to save as > PDF and received the scratch disk locked message. I can successfully save as PDF if I use the launch as admin option, but this seems odd since I can do everything else just fine without the need to do that.
Here are my steps:
Save as > Photoshop PDF
Click OK on "The settings you choose in the Save Adobe PDF dialog can override your current settings...."
I change nothing in the Save Adobe PDF dialog. I simply click Save PDF.
Select Yes for "Preserve Photoshop Editing Capabilities" in the prompt.
Here is where I get the error message.
"Could not open a scratch file because the file is locked, you do not have necessary access permissions, or another program is using the file. Use the 'Properties' command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file."
At this point, Photoshop does not crash or exit. It just simply will not save the file. This is the first time I've tried to save as  PDF, so it could just be a user error > replace user situation. :d
I have tried the CTRL + Shift + Alt method of launching to wipe my preferences only to have the same result. My scratch disk is an internal drive used only as storage with 1.30 TB available.
Photoshop CS6 Extended
Windows 7 64bit
User account is an admin, but I have never had a need to launch PS as an admin specifically.
Thanks in advance.

Checked my permissions on C:\Users\***\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings and everything is fine.
Taking that info and some google work I came across this: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/photoshop/cs/using/WS23B45D06-1977-4006-8BEB-2DBB08CA502Ea.htm l#WSA79FA899-BC95-401e-BD44-5B26BC31B369
Apparently, there should be PDF settings files in C:\Users\***\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings; however, my folder was empty, but the article above also says to move them from an 'Extras' folder located within ProgramData. Copied the settings over, tried again, same result.
Am I supposed to have Acrobat installed for this to work properly? I don't have Acrobat, nor do I even use Reader (I use a different program for in-browser PDF).
//edit
Apparently it was in my settings on the PDF save dialog. I removed the settings that I moved over and tried again. This time I actually fiddled with the settings and used Smallest File Size instead of HQ Print, and that seemed to have worked. Messed with things some more, and narrowed it down to the Preserve Photoshop Editing Capabilities option. As long as that option is UN-checked, then everything works smoothly, including HQ quality.

• How do I save an imovie as a disk image to improve playability?

I have been advised that if I save my movies as disk images then burn them onto DVDs I have a better chance of having them work.
Problem: I can't work out how to save as disk image - there seems to be no way to do it, as in the applications-utilities there is no provision for it.
Help please.
      Mac OS X (10.3.9)

It's not clear exactly what your goal is, so I'll try to cover a couple bases.
Creating a disk image that contains your iMovie project will not help you burn a DVD in either iDVD or Toast. When these programs burn a DVD, they encode (convert and compress) the iMovie project movie to a format that can be played in a DVD player. They do NOT burn the iMovie project onto the DVD. They make their own version of the movie and format the DVD so a DVD player can play it. So if the goal is to burn a DVD, creating a disk image of the iMovie project won't help.
If your goal is to move the iMovie HD project to another computer, that can be done by connecting the two computers with an Ethernet cable. Or if you have a FireWire drive, you could use it move the project from one computer to another.
If none of that is possible, you could use the Finder to burn the iMovie project onto a DVD, as a file, if the project will fit. (The Finder copies it to the DVD as a data file, NOT a TV-playable DVD.) The Finder lets you copy files to a DVD just like copying them to a hard disk. Your project has to to small enough to fit, however, and many projects are too large.
Note that unlike the Finder, Toast lets you burn a large data file across multiple DVDs.
If I've misunderstood everything, please say more.

• How do I save as a PDF to disk using CR4E?

I am trying out the CR4E plug in and can get my report to display in a jsp fine by using the CrystalReportViewer object and calling the processHttpRequest() method from my JSP.  What I really want to do is run the report and save it as a PDF to a disk, then forward to another JSP.  I have searched all day looking for examples and scoured the API looking for possiblities.  I was told that CR4E had this capability.  Can someone help?
