Save "Actions"

Is there a way in FCE to save "actions" similar to what can be done in Photoshop?
Example- You come up with process you like on applying "Ken Burns effect" to pictures. Is there a way to save this and apply as you come to other pictures you would like to apply the same effect instead of going through all the steps to accomplish each time?
Thanks

Yes-
Select the clip you have on the timeline that has the filters and effects applied that you like and want to use on other clips.
Type Command - C to copy the clip.
Now select the clip or clips (shift-clicking to select multiple clips) that you want to apply the same filters and effects to and type Option - V.
A dialog box will open that allows you to choose what attributes of the clip you have copied to apply to the selected clip or clips. Make your choice and click OK, and they will all be applied.
Note that if the clips you have selected to paste the attributes to are of different length, you may want to uncheck "Scale Attribute Times", or the motions will be lengthened or shortened to fit the length of the clip you are pasting in to.
Hope this helps.

  • PS CS4 save action that prevents file clobbering?

    Hello:
Does anyone know of an action step or event script that will alert you to the existence of a file when using non-dialog save commands in actions?
    Scenario:
Suppose I have a "Save" action that points to a specific folder, I then save an image titled XXX into a folder called IMAGES. Then either intentionally or accidentally I get a new (i.e. completely different) image called XXX that I edit and resave to IMAGES via the action. Right now, CS3 and CS4 actions with suppressed save dialogs do not alert you to the existence of a file in the target location. It just saves over it.
I am using function keys to trigger script steps since I have different routines based on image content so batching a directory is not preferred.
The ideal solution would be an "if file exists in path" step.

You will need to write a script to check if the file already exists.
Install the script listener plug-in. Record you save step and check the listener log file on your desktop.
    You can then do a if ( File("fullpathtofile").exists ) { alert ('dont do that'); } else { ... do regular save here ... }
Another option would be to use a unique file name generator so you don't ever clobber a file.

  • How to create save actions in SQL Developer 1.5?

    Hi,
I am trying to create a save action in SQL Developer, which shall execute "an external tool" I already added.
I choose "Code-Editor" -> "save actions". I want to add an action, but there are 3 predefined actions and there is no possibility for me to add another. Is there a way for me to add a save action, as it is possible in eclipse?
What I am trying to do is, I want to trigger an external sql formatter. The sql formatter, which is built in, doesn't fit my needs and the way I can configure it, is very sparse. Therefore I want to use an external tool do to this - and I want it to be executed after saving the document.

Right click on the table and select "Export Data": default format is INSERT statement.

  • SQL Developer 3.0.03  Code Editor Save Actions missing from menu

I had just gotten a new notebook and installed latest version of Oracle SQL Developer 3.0.03. Seems Auto Save settings are enabled by default. I am prompted each time I switch off from SQL Dev to another app or window to Save the SQL code I am testing. I don't want to necessarily save it each time so I have to save or cancel each time I switch windows. I checked the documentation Help menu and it directed me to the Code Editor section > Save Actions menu to adjust settings. This category does not exist (or is not visible for me) to check settings and make changes. I am Admin on machine and installer of the app so not sure if it is some security setting I am not aware of. Or is this the wrong Help documentation for this version?
This version is much different from older version I was using. Any thougts on this before I remove and re-install an older version?
    Thanks,
    Joe

many thanks for your reply jim. i see the settings for 'prompt for save file on close'. this is checked by default and that is fine. if i have a sql worksheet open, as soon as i switch to another window (i.e. visual studio app), i get prompted to save the file. that is the strange behavior i've been seeing with this version.
i will try to update to 3.0.04 and see if that resolves. i appreciate your help.

  • Save action redirects to Process Request

    Hi
I have a page with multiple tabs on it, and a "Save" button on the page. When I creae a new record and click Save, it's going back to Process Request and considering that as a new record and trying to create a new record. I am not sure why it's redirecting to process request.. Any ideas ?
    Thanks!!
    Ravi

When I creae a new record and click Save, it's going back to Process Request and considering that as a new record and trying to create a new record.
What's wrong with that? Save action has to save the record somewhere? What is your expectation on the click of Save button?

  • How to save actions from exchange going directly into CS3

I posted this in the NAPP forum, but I haven't gotten a solution yet. I hope someone here can help.
I downloaded quite a few actions from Adobe exchange. When I did, I got the choice to either put them in a folder or open them in CS3. Many I just clicked to open in CS3. It was more time efficient. However, there are many of them, and I was looking specifically for a cartoon effect (which I don't use very often--special project) However, while I was looking, I found many other interesting actions. Anyway, I would like to clean up the actions area and bring up only the ones I use all the time. Generally I hit clear actions or reset actions and then I bring back in the ones I want. I'm afraid to do this because these actions are not listed in the actions folder. What will happen to them? Will they go away? There are quite a few of them, and I don't want to have to redownload them. Since they are not listed in the actions folder, how can I get them listed and make sure that I can access them again?
I have tried creating a set to move them into. That didn't work. I tried highlighting all of them to put in a set. That didn't work. If they are selected, the flyout menu save actions in grayed out. How do I get them into the action folder?
    Any help would be appreciated.
There are a lot of great brushes and things in the exchange, too. That I will tackle next after I figure out what I'm doing with the actions. (With help from the forum, of course)
    Thanks

Good point: One can only save one Action Set at a time.
Photoshop really doesn't care where you save .atn files. In other words the folder in which one saves Action Sets (via Save Actions... or via download from the Internet) does not have to be
    \Presets\Actions
The benefit of saving .atn files in \Presets\Actions is the file names of .atn files in this folder show up at the bottom of the Actions Palette menu, facilitating easy loading into the Actions Pallete. For .atn files saved elsewhere, the Load Actions... command will do the trick.
    >re: I know I physically saved them into folders, but I should be able to see them somewhere, shouldn't I?
    Yes.
Try this (assuming you are using Windows XP; if Vista it will be something of this nature):
    * Start > Search > For files or folders
    * Type .atn in the box labeled "All or part of the file name"
    * Click 'Search'
When the search is complete, you should see the .atn files you saved plus any others on your computer.
Hang in there. You'll be an action monster before you know it. :)

  • Save action confusions

    (Running CS3 on Snow Leopard)
I've been trying to streamline my photoshop workflow, and one trick
I'm doing is more batch operations--adjust the parameters in camera
RAW, open, highlight and sharpen and retouch individually, then (1) do
a batch save of fullsize jpegs, (2) resize and reframe the ones I want to
use in my desktop screensaver at 1400 x 900 pixels, then (3) a batch
save of this version to the screensaver folder.  But....the batch operations, while fairly quick, have
an annoying quirk that I'd love to get around.
The save action that I have, and use at step (1), does this:
save copy of DSC_9999.NEF as jpg, high quality, to folder 'photoshop
    temp', title DSC_9999 copy.jpg
The second save (step (3)) needs to be to a different folder, and with a
prefix that I want to change each time I save:
110410 desert trip DSC_9999 copy.jpg to folder 'screensaver ready'
so that it will be easy to sort by date (shot april 10th, 2011), and
    project or subject (desert trip).
I have been doing (3) by using my save to jpg action (1), but by
selecting a destination folder (screensaver ready), I open up
(reverse the grayed-out) "override save as" options, so I can enter
    "110410 desert trip " + "document name" + "extension".
This is easy and quick enough, but then when I want to do the next
batch, the override info stays there and screws up the save, even if I
clear the destination to "none"--I get an error message, have to cancel
the batch save, then when I ask a 2nd time for the batch operation,
the override info is gone, and the batch save action works as I expect
    for (1).
Can anyone here suggest a better way to do this quickly and efficiently?  I'd like to either be able to clear the previous
override info so that I don't have to go through the false start to
clear it; or create a save as jpg action that would allow me to enter a
different prefix each time I save (110410 desert trip, or 100415
    Sara's Baby).
Do I need screenshots to make this question clear?

If you are talking about a few different save locations and prefixes it might be easier to Script the task(s).

  • Jdeveloper: Tool Preferences Code Editor Save Actions. Why no code format?

  • How do I save actions?

I purchased the creative cloud photoshop because I wanted to save actions. But the save action is not allowing me to save. It is greyed out.Someone please explain to me why is this? -April

    Hi,
Actions are in sets, so you have to save the whole set.

    No, nor any other way.

  • Record actions bug. does not execute the dont save action even though it acknowledges in action list

i am using macbook pro running Lion
so i am trying to save a series of actions that i want applied to a batch of images. i do all the actions correctly (i've done this before in earlier version of photoshop). stop recording my actions, and open the same image to make sure the automation process works properly and i get the same image through automation that i got when building my actions. one
of the actions is cutting and pasting a portion of the image in a different location, yet during the automation it always ends up somewhere else, and not in the same place, which makes no sense. another issue is during the recording of my actions i close out of all the files b4 i stop recording and click dont save. so this should be automated, but when i run the automation it prompts me to click dont save which it shouldnt do. i cant sit at the cpu and click dont save for thousands of images. whts the point of automation if i have to actually do something. stupid program. and i can clearly see in the list of actions tht it recorded me clicking dont save yet it still prompts me every time. i really do hate cs6. i wld install my old photoshop but b/c i have lion it doesnt support it... of course.. *rolls eyes*

@conroy - one of the actions means one task in an action (see screen shot).
@noel - i am able to run my action properly when i "play selection", but when i try to run a batch of images through the "automate" function is when the issues begin to arise. at least most of the issues.
i would insert an image to show what i did, but i cant seem to get that to work (on my pc or mac... weird).  i loaded it to my fbook page and u can view it by following the below link
    https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=750482081505&l=4d1bb044bd
you can view an image of what i did here.
so in detail what i am trying to do is:
record an action of the edits i make to a raw image so i can then run that same action on a batch of thousands of images via "automate."  the specific tasks i am trying to complete during my action should be visble in the link i provided. to explain in detail what is occuring that is being recorded as an action:
    1)- i press begin record
    2)- I am open a raw image
3)- there is a time stamp in the image and i select and copy the time stamp from the corner of the image
4)- i then open a new document and past the time stamp into the new document
5)- i then increase the size of the pasted time stamp by about 3x by changing the resolution
6)- i then go back to original image
7)- i crop the original image to exclude the time stamp and other superflous things on the edges of the image
8)- i then rotate the original image 90 degrees CCW
9)- i then go back to the new document w/ the time stamp and select the time stamp with the marquee tool, so I can copy the time stamp to the original image
10)- i copy and paste the time stamp to the original image, i use the "move tool" and move the time stamp to the top of the original image.
11)- i then flatten the original image (i thought when this was done this is essentially combining layers, so there should be no possibility of the edited time stamp moving around as it has been flattened onto the original image)
12)- i then save the original image (that was flattened w/ the edited time stamp) as a .jpeg  As part of the save process i also select the resolution.
    ***issue***
so i am now having an issue on this section as well.  as you can see in the link i provided i have told adobe to do all this, yet now at this section it prompts me to make a decision about the resolution (i.e. press "ok").
    13) -after this step i then select "close all" from the file menu which closes the original image that i just saved and prompts me if i want to save the new document i created for the time stamp i edited
    14) - i select "dont save"
    15) -i press stop record
    16) - i then go to the folder where i saved the file i just edited in photoshop and change the name.
    17) - i start the action process to see if i can replicate the manual actions i just completed through automation.  i have no issues replicating this when i manually start the action, except for my issue w/ the time stamp detailed below.
    ***issue*****
when i do this the time stamp that i edited and pasted back into the image is not in the same place. i have only gotten it to be in the same place once, and the only thing i did differently was continually re-create the above action in the same manner.  each time i recreated the action the time stamp was in a different place and one time it was finally in the place i moved it to.
    18) - after checking that the action works, i then attempt to automate a batch of files
    19) - i select file -> automate -> batch
    20) - in batch i choose the folder with the original raw images that i now want to run the action on and also select the folder where to place the altered images
    21) - in the batch menu i do not have any of the boxes checked (i.e. suppress color profile warnings, etc.)
    22) - i select "ok" and the automation process starts
this is where i run into issues.  originally i would get prompted @ step 14 (above) instead of the automation process just reading the task in the action that says select "dont save". somehow i do not get prompted there anymore. now i get prompted at step 12.  it saves its as jpeg, but instead of completing the save process, at the resolution screen it prompts me to select "ok" instead of reading the task in the action that says select "ok"
i have created new actions for the images i collect since CS4 and CS5 and i have never run into any of the issues i have described above. i appreciate any and all help you can provide, as it currently stands i am pretty upset b/c i have wasted an entire day or productivity messing w/ what appears to be a buggy program.

  • Exporting PS Save Actions for Mac and Windows

    Hello,
I want to share a "Save for Web" action script that I created for other users in my group to ensure they use the same settings. Some users are Mac, some are Windows.
How do you make the desktop location generic between both platforms? For instance the action script seems to record the path all the way up to the local root Macintosh HD and includes my user directory name. If another users imports that Action script, they will get a directory not found error. Is there some shortcut I can edit into the script with a text editor so the location is common between platforms?
    Something like ~Desktop?
    Guessing.
    Thanks for any help.

If you are talking about an actionset .atn file then you can use a couple of Xbytors scripts from his xtools package.
Convert the actionset to xml using actionFileFromXML.jsx
You will then need an install script  to change the path(s) in the xml
Then convert back to an atn file using ActionFileToXML.jsx
    Install the actionSet.

  • Save Action Hangs After Mavericks Upgrade

I've created an actions script that creates multiple variations of a file. I've been using it for a couple years now but after upgrading to Mavericks it's crashing at the save operations. I can save using the menus but not from an actions script. I found references to save crashes happening when the preview is selected but I'm not using it, just the list of file name.
Is this a known bug and will we see a fix soon? If not I've got to downgrade my OS.

Contacted Apple support. The tech had me go into my Applications folder, select Mail, and Open. It worked! Only difference was I had been trying to open the program by clicking its Dock icon.
Why should this make a difference? Beats me.
He also suggested booting in Safe Mode (hold Shift while restarting), which he claimed "fixes bugs". I will do that but it seems the problem of being unable to get past the "Upgrading Mail database" phase is solved.

  • UME permissions for Images Saver Action Block,  MII version 12.1

I have a BLS using the Image saver block but it seems that some MII users can do not have the ablity to save files using this action block.   The BLS transaction works fine when I'm logged in as MII admin.
What UME permissions do you need to write files on the local MII folder (in the project web path) to perform this action?
Note:  I don't have access to UME on this box, as it is a customers box and is managed by a seperate basis person.  I need to let that person know what permissions to add.

I think you have to assign the file system actions in the UME to a role that the user has:
    XMII_FileSystem_R, XMII_FileSystem_RW, XMII_FileSystemBrowser etc.

  • How to save action attributes as text?

I'd like to save certain action attributes as text to archive along with adjustment files for archived image group adjustments. Anyone know how to copy this to clipboard as text?
    Thanks!

I suppose I could do that, but I have a whole bunch of commonly used actions grouped into one set (40+), that would be a bit confusing for anyone trying to replicate the results on another machine, etc. In this case my 'generic level' action includes a SS component that I toggle on and off when needed. I figured just copying the SS attributes as a text file along with the saved .atn file would be adequate documentation. Thanks for the different approach, I'll probably go that route for now. Still would be nice to pull out that action data though...
