SAve as a Word / PDF document

Hi,
I have a JSP web application. This application has several user forms to be filled in by the user. The forms are developed using JSP and Java codes. Right now, I am able to print the forms through the application. I would need to save these forms as a word document or a PDF document. Can anyone suggest me how do I go about incorporating this feature in my applicaion.
Thanks in advance for the help!
Anu

If you haven't already, download Cocoon and set it up, then take a look at the examples. That should give you some ideas. I think there may be a forum or mail list for Cocoon implementors.

  • Display word/pdf document in the HTML region or report

    Hi,
    How to display blob content stored in a table in HTML region or report region.
    I already have a process to display the image content.
    But my question here is how to display word/pdf document within the html region so that the user can read the document without downloading it.
    Any suggestions/solutions would be of great help.
    Thanks in advance...
    Thanks,
    Ramesh P.

    I was dead wrong.
    The display of images from BLOB is a special case because APEX provides a Display Image item type.
    Moreover, HTP/HTF packages also do not provide for handling of BLOB content. So AJAX cannot be used.
    Which implies that the only way to get binary content, other than images, is with the use of a WPG_DOCLOAD.DOWNLOAD_FILE call.
    This in turn implies that it may not be feasible to "inject" the BLOB into an exist HTML DOM in the Browser.

  • Embed Word/PDF Documents in Documaker 12.1

    Hi
    We have a requirement to embed word/PDF documents during runtime . The path for the PDF/Word document comes as an input in a XML node and we would need to have them embeded/inserted in between the formset. We use Documaker 12.1 ODEE and would like to know if there is any built in utilites/rules that would support adding word/PDF documents during run-time. The documents can be inserted anywhere on the policy package. Though the Rules reference manual says the rule AddMultipageBitmap can be used to embed word/PDF, it doesn't seems to work with them in UNIX. It works perfeclty well for TIFF images. Let us know if we would need to add entries in the INI files to support the rule to embed word/PDF documents.
    Any other approach out of the box is also appreciated. Thanks in advance..

    Hi,
    If it is Linux or Solaris the Word attachment to the document should work out-of-the-box with configuration. For AIX the Oracle Outside In Image Export runtime component that converts the documents for most document types (except for specific types of TIFF) needs a X11 DISPLAY context with user authorization for which to run the rule in because that what it uses to do the conversion to an image.
    Is this AIX you are trying to do this on? If so the ODEE installer for 12.1.x sets a DISPLAY variable in the docfactory.sh startup script in a section for that platform that you would have use to point to a X11 Motif or Lesstif DISPLAY (e.g. my.server.com:2) that has a running X11 server. VNC server option will work also so that the system can remain headless.
    I thought that the Oracle Documaker Enterprise Edition document covers this requirement under its attachments notes, not sure.
    See documentation on Oracle Outside In Image Export for supported documents it can handle and platforms.
    I am not sure if the version Oracle Documaker uses but here is a document reference for v8.3.5 for the Unix particulars, http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14154_01/dev.835/e12885/c03_unix.htm .
    SCCOPT_RENDERING_PREFER_OIT settings referenced in the above document is only option on Solaris SPARC and Linux x86_32 platforms according to the Oracle Outside In Image Export Developer's Guide for v8.3.5 (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14154_01/dev.835/e12885.pdf).

  • How do you save a multiple page pdf document?

    I have about 30 single illustrator pages (cs3) and need to save them as one pdf document, with multiple pages if possible. please can someone talk me thru this, all the stages please.
    thanks

    What I usually do is this: Make pdfs of your files. Open the first one in Acrobat and then Insert (Cmd-Shift-I) the other files one by one After the first one. Then resave under another name. Now you've got a multiple page pdf.
    The other way is to page-tile an Illy file, print to eps and then use Distiller. The result will be a multi-page pdf with each tile as a separate page.
    I recommend the first method though - it allows you to have different page sizes within a single pdf (if that's what you want). If you want all pages to be of the same size you just use the same artboard size on all Illy files.

  • I can't save changes to my PDF document?

    I downloaded a PDF document from Google Chrome onto my desktop. (It's a job application). However, every time I make changes to it, click save, and then open it up again using Preview, none of my changes have saved. Help?

    No -- I installed adobe acrobat -- and now, whether I'm signed in or not -- the little disc/save icon is whited out and it can no longer be selected -- when I open a PDF I can only save it to the cloud
    I am a physician, and a lot of what I look at is protected health information --- I can't be saving it in the cloud!!!  I have to find a way to disable this feature -- and restore my ability to save to my hard drive ONLY --
    Thanks -- but if you can tell me those things, I'll be grateful
    tried to attach screen shot to show you, but it was too big .......

  • User is having a save issue with Word 2007 documents created from a template.

    I have 1 particular user, out of approx. 30, that is experiencing an intermittent problem when trying to save a Word 2007 document to a network drive.  The particular error is
    "Word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error. (xxx.docx)"  CTRL-SHIFT-I Error Code is: 701743
    This only happens while he is working in a document created from a template (.dotm) file I made a few months ago.  The problem has never occurred with any other Word docs or Excel, or any of the other users accessing the template to create documents. He
    also gets an error message stating
    "xxx.docx cannot be found.  Check your spelling, or try a different path."  CTRL-SHIFT-I Error Code is: 200635
    But this only occurs when trying to "Save As"  The odd thing is that if he renames the file to something like xxx1.docx, it will allow him to save on the network folder with no issues.  And as mentioned, this is intermittent - he may go weeks without
    seeing the message while doing nothing different.
    I have tried search for similar issues in the forums but they don't seem to match exactly what is happening to us.  Our 3-man IT department seems to be at a loss and I have had good luck solving other issues in this forum so I thought I would give it
    a try.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Select a text from a word/pdf document for tagging.

    Hi,
    After an overwhelming response for my [first thread|Thumbnail creation during Image Upload; , I am hoping that my second post will have a solution.
    I am currently working on a knowledge management tool using ABAP WD. The requirement is to open the existing documents and select some text and tag/categorize it.  I also found out that using flash islands, it is possible to get the selected text from textField and pass it back to the ABAP WD binded variable.
    Is there a way to display word/pdf file and perform the text tagging in WD ? using office integration ? Kind help would be greatly appreciated.

    Never mind--I figured it out.

  • How to open word&pdf document in the AplicationServer from Clients (Forms10

    Hi,
    How can in open MS Word & PDF files in the application server/any other PC in network, from the Client. I am using forms 10g.
    Thanks in advance.
    Rizly

    Hi ,
    But it is not working. I think u mean the below code that I copied from the Webutil Document.
    However, when you change this code to use CLIENT_OLE2 (using search-and-replace)
    it doesn’t work.The following example is code which will convert to CLIENT_OLE2:
    DECLARE
    app CLIENT_OLE2.OBJ_TYPE;
    docs CLIENT_OLE2.OBJ_TYPE;
    doc CLIENT_OLE2.OBJ_TYPE;
    selection CLIENT_OLE2.OBJ_TYPE;
    args CLIENT_OLE2.LIST_TYPE;
    BEGIN
    -- create a new document
    app := CLIENT_OLE2.CREATE_OBJ('Word.Application');
    CLIENT_OLE2.SET_PROPERTY(app,'Visible',1);
    docs := CLIENT_OLE2.GET_OBJ_PROPERTY(app, 'Documents');
    doc := CLIENT_OLE2.INVOKE_OBJ(docs, 'add');
    selection := CLIENT_OLE2.GET_OBJ_PROPERTY(app, 'Selection');

  • Including Word/PDF documents and Jpegs in a folder on a DVD

    Hello
    I'm building a DVD of my short film and want to include the press pack in a folder on the DVD. The folder will contain 5/6 JPEGs and 3/4 word documents/pdf documents.
    Anyone have any idea how I go about this?
    Thanks

    Add the files to the ROM section of your project.

  • Use xml file to create a word/pdf document

    i have a xml doument created using jdom i need to create a word or a pdf document from this file
    is there a way to tackle this using java? or what else would you recomend?

    Without knowing any details, I would guess that you have a couple of options;
    Parse the xml using SAX or some similar tool and use the data recovered to create the document using an existing API; HWPF for example would allow you to create a simple Word documnet or, if you were much braver, you could use the SWT to 'drive' Word using OLE/COM.
    If you are very lucky and the xml document conforms to the format Word has recently begun to recognise, you could just try opening the document in Word using the Desktop class.
    As far as I am aware, there is no one tool that will do all of this for you. Of course, you could try using Google of visiting Sourceforge to see if anyone is working on such an application.

  • Call a word/pdf document

    Hi all,
    I would like to know which is the best way to open a word/pdf file from an Apex page.
    I don't know whether locate the file in the server or in load it as an static file.
    I would imagine it would be quicker to put it in the server. I would appreciate guidance on how to do it and where's the most appropriate place to put it.
    Many thanks

    It's your choice really.
    From an end user perspective the result will be the same.
    From a developer perspective the effort is similar - either a remote link or a link to #WORKSPACE_IMAGES#.
    From an administration perspective, putting them into your static files means that they are stored in your database, within the flows files table. This may or may not be a good thing from backup & security perspective. However, storing them as static items has the advantage that they can be exported as part of your application (under APEX 2.2.)
    I usually swing towards storing them on a remote server but YMMV.

  • Hitting 'Save' in EditForm opens PDF document

    I created a custom document library that stores scans of invoices as PDF-A documents. The library has a custom content type with some custom fields and the list's schema also links to a custom EditForm.aspx.
    In the EditForm I am using a JavaScript function named PreSaveAction for some custom validation. The save button itself is not customized.
    Now on some clients in the customer's network a weird effect occurs: Every time a user hits the save button of the EditForm, the browser redirects to the PDF's URL instead of the source URL, effectively opening the
    PDF in the browser.
    IE debugging doesn't lead to any errors. The last JS function called, before the PDF opens, is in line 2090 of SP.UI.Rte.debug.js:
    RTE.Imports.ExecuteOrDelayUntilScriptLoaded(RTE.Canvas.$F1_0,"sp.ribbon.js")};
    but that seems to be normal behaviour.
    BTW, i am not opening the EditForm in a SP Dialog (NavigateForFormsPages="TRUE").
    Has anyone ever encountered such an effect?

    Hi,
    sorry for the late reply. Actually the whole story was much easier than I thought it would be. The missing peace, that I've forgotten to mention, is that I created the Edit-Buttons via JavaScript and there I simply didn't supply a"Source" url parameter.
    So appending the following to the anchors href value did the trick:
     + "&Source=" + window.location.href;
    Interestingly the default behaviour in absence of that parameter seems to be to redirect to the file's url.
    Btw, the initial reason to append the edit buttons manually was the fact that sharepoint does not render edit buttons if the user hasn't AddListItems and DeleteListItems permissions on the list. For all users, who had that permissions, everything worked
    fine because in that case I didn't manually create the edit buttons.
    If anyone knows a more elegant solution, than creating them via JavaScript, I would appreciate to hear from that.

  • Submitting a PDF form --- save and send completed PDF document?

    A small government site has a number of 'submittable' PDF
    form documents
    that they'd like me to include on the website. I am not very
    familiar
    with PDF forms in this way, and hope someone here can help
    sort out a
    few things...
    Can a PDF form be submitted so that
    a) the completed PDF doc is saved on the server (and renamed)
    b) a printable , completed PDF (looks just like the one they
    filled out,
    with all their values saved in the input boxes) is emailed to
    specific
    address
    c) the raw user data is saved to database (maybe a list of
    fields in one
    column of a db table, and a matching list of values in
    another? this
    would just be for backup in case the completed PDF did not
    save
    correctly to the server, or for later reference)
    We've looked at the standard Acrobat 'submit via email' and
    that won't
    cut it... that method appears to simply trigger a 'mailto'
    popup, with
    the pdf as an attachment. Our system needs to be automated
    via CFmail.
    None of these would handle any 'sensitive' information, the
    main
    concern, from their part, is people being able to submit the
    form and
    have both the city office and the recipient get a copy that
    prints just
    as if they had hit 'print' when filling out the actual PDF.
    Is all of this possible ??
    if so... any tips appreciated!

  • AppleScript to save AppleWorks as Word .doc documents

    I'd like to start converting all my legacy .cwk documents into .doc files for reasons I'm sure everyone understands.
    I wonder if anyone has already created an AppleScript to do this?
    I have found on script for converting .cwk to .rtf - I wonder how I can modify that to save as .doc? See http://dmgsoftware.com/applescript/index.html
    Thanks!

    Hello
    Here is an enhanced version. Read the comments first
    Copy paste in the Script Editor
    Save as an application (or an application bundle)
    Store it in:
    <bootVolume>:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Scripts:Applications:Pages:
    Maybe you will have to create the folder "Pages" or even the folder "Applications"
    After that, when Pages is running, the script will be available in the System's Scripts menu.
    Clicking the item "pages2Doc" will save the front document as a doc file
    in the folder containing the original pages document.
    If the document was never saved, according to current date_time it will be saved
    as #YYYYMMDDThhmm.pages and #YYYYMMDDThhmm.doc in the default save folder.
    If you change the property withSeconds from false to true,
