"save as" and "open"

If I open Folder A, open a photo from Folder A, and edit that photo, when I'm finished and hit "SAVE", it doesn't save it to Folder A. It saves it to a folder many annoying mouse clicks away. It used to save the edited photo to whichever folder you retrieved the photo from. ALSO, when I click on "OPEN" again, instead of opening  the most recent file I had opened, it opens what seems to be a default folder which contains all the original unedited photos. To get to the location to open the file I desire to work on, it requires many clicks. Sometimes I don't catch it,  so sometimes I edit a photo from one folder, then another, so my desired "edited" folder has some photos that are not edited, even though I spent time editing them. It's a confusing maze of where some of my photos in one file are edited in Folder A, and others in an identical file (except that some have edited versions). It's a mess.

Thanks. I fixed this part of the problem by unchecking save to original
file in preferences. Now it saves to the folder I took it from.
HOWEVER, it still won't open the most recent file when I click "OPEN". It
defaults to "This PC-Pictures-etc.  My folder that I am using is several
click away under Users-Joseph- Pictures-Public Pictures-Joe and
Helen-Trips-etc.
I have to constantly do all those clicks every time I want to open that
folder to edit another photo from the folder. Any ideas?

  • Open report with "Save as" and "Open with" dialogue

    Hi,
    I'm using jasper reports within my application. I manage to open them in a new window but in that case the url containing JasperServer username and password is shown. I would like to open the report without showing the url.
    I tryed using a database procedure (http://sqlcur.blogspot.com/2009/02/jasperreports-in-apex.html) but all I get is a alert window saying "file does not begin with ' pdf-'". Couldn't see what is the problem (I used the same procedure as Ino has in his example) so I thought of another way. Is it possible, when someone clicks a button to open a report, to open that report with a "Save as" and "Open with" pop up window?
    The javascript function that I use:
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    function openLAPopUpJasper(url){
    w = open(url,"winLov","toolbar=false,menubar=false,location=false,resizable=yes, //scrollbars=yes,status=yes,fullscreen=true");
    if (w.opener == null)
    w.opener = self;
    w.focus();
    </script>
    Thanks in advance!

  • When I change the row heights in a spreadsheet, then save, close, and open it, the row heights are back to default. How can I prevent this?

    One of our reports has lots of text in some rows. I import the data, adjust the row width and ask the text to wrap, which automatically sets the row height appropriately. When I save, close, and open that spreadsheet, the width is still the same and Wrap is still selected, but the rows are only one line high, which means that the report is unreadable and a serious pain to make readable.
    I can save it as a PDF, but I'd rather be able to use the Numbers format or Excel and be confident that my recipients can read it.

    Hi k,
    I'm unable to reproduce the described behaviour.
    The document containing the table below has a combination of row heights set manually using teh stepper in the Table Inspector (both 0.76" labeled rows), set manually by dragging the row boundary between row reference tabs (labeled 1/13"), and set automatically by Numbers to fit the content of the remaining cells.
    Content in the rows with names beginning E, F, G or H wraps automatically to form two rows in the cell. The rest are forced into two lines using a carriage return character.
    All maiintained their row heights through two Saves and reopenings.

  • How do I save layers, and open them in another program?

    When I use the layer function and change an image it works great. My problem is when I save the image to a folder and try to open it in a picture viewer all images can be seen but the one I did a layer for. That image shows up as a cs5 icon. I can't burn the image to a disk and print it out. I am frustrated beyond beliefe. Can anyone help me?

    But on every layer at least one item.
    Activate in the Layer's Panel menu "Paste Remember Layers"
    Copy it from the old document
    Paste it into the new document
    Take care, if a layer with the same name exists all items from that layer will be pasted to that layer, missing layers will be added at the top.
    You have to take care that the layer have the same order as in the old document, otherwise things might get messed up.

    What's up with this new fangled thing (Alum G4)???
    Ever since I've gotten it I get the "beach ball of death" almost every time I open a word doc, or save, or try to open an In Design doc...
    It's about a 30 second wait. Matter of fact it was 15 or 20 just getting into this forum. Never had this problem with old Titanium cruiser. What settings have I mucked up, or missed?
    Thanks for the help.

    Okay, the first thing you do is go into Library of your Home folder. Then go to Preferences. Find the file(s) that has something to do with Word and that other program that had the problem. Delete the file(s) and the relaunch the application and try it again.

  • "Save As" and "Open" problems

    I downloaded the 30-day trial version and am now not able to
    open file folders or save files into file folders. Has anyone else
    had that problem?

    Don't use File Save in Safari.  As you can see it does not give you the expected results.  Instead, use either the disc icon either in the menu bar at the top or the disc icon at the bottom of the PDF in the HUD (Heads Up Display).

  • "Save As" and "Open" file dialog windows very slow to appear...

    I have a home network with 4 PCs, three using XP/3 and 1 using Win7.  Until recently, I had the three XP boxes in one workgroup (not homegroup) and the Win7 box in a different workgroup.  Everything was running fine.  I got anal and decided
    to rename some of the boxes and put them all in one workgroup, the one that the Win7 box is in.
    Immediately after I did all that, I noticed that every time I did a "save as" file function on the Win7 box, no matter the application, the dialog window took much longer to appear - sometimes almost 10 seconds.  This is not the case on the XP
    boxes.
    Following a suggestion I got on the Microsoft Answers Forum, I removed all the shares on my network and even removed the 3 XP boxes from the network, and I turned off Network Discovery.  The problem persisted.  Only when I disabled my LAN
    connection did the dialog windows appear instantly, as they had done before.  I have now restored the original configuration, but the "save as" dialog window continues to come up very slowly on the Win7 box.
    Any thoughts, clues or suggestions as to how to fix this non-critical but very irritating problem would be greatly appreciated...

    I've hit a similar problem since (or at least exaserbated since) changing to a new ISP service (BT Total Broadband) which included a wifi router upgrade.  LAN has a stable Win XP SP3 fully updated, a W7 also fully updated (I love Office) and a previously
    stable Zyxel router.  Then this occasional problem:  File -> Save As from any application stops dead for up to a few minutes, no CPU burn so waiting on interupt or external event.  Patience, then it works.
    So I'm guessing a confused IP table somewhere.  I'm off to play with using fixed IP addresses and lease expiries in the LAN part of the new router's config to see if that makes it easier for XP to handle closed connections.
    And isn't there a "not persistent" option somewhere ...
    But I don't networked drives, I use shortcuts with network addresses.
    More anon after some exploration.

  • Save-as and Open Dialogue box options. ~ Windows style vs Adobe style

    I have two identical machines, that are running CCv6 software. On one machine I have Libraries as an option in my save as box and in the other it's using the Adobe pre-set options. I have not edited the registry file. I am not running any aftermarket plug-ins. There must be a dialoge box somwehere, but I can't find it. • I have created a folder that I can now Save to and view in Photoshop (CS4) but cannot find in spotlight or any other way on my mac. PLEASE HELP!!

    I use Photoshop CS4, I do not think this problem is related to PS... I am not exactly sure what happened. I created a folder on desktop, think I changed name of it. Now it is not on desktop. I know the exact name of the folder and have tried doing a spotlight search and cannot locate it AS WELL as searching for a file by name EXACT as name is. However if I go into Photoshop I can open or "save as" and open the folder and save as a "recent location" and the folder and its contents are found no problem... however cannot see the pathway to know where the folder is located on my mac.. PLEASE HELP!!! Been using photoshop and my mac for MANY years and NEVER had a problem like this... I have a photo client awaiting their pictures to be burned on a cd and mailed to them!!
    THANK YOU!!
    Laurie

    Try this. Open one of your files. The window that contains your picture is named at the top. Command click on the name and you'll see the entire path starting with its name and then moving to the folder, the folder it is contained in, etc all the way to down to the hard drive volume name. This should tell you where to find the folder.

  • Dynamic Subform not showing up after saving and opening.

    After I fill out the pdf, save it, and open it, the dynamic subform does not appear. There are currently 2 subforms that are controlled by checkboxes and function in the following manner:
    -If the "No" checkbox is checked, the "SubmissionNo" subform should appear, the "Submission" subform should be hidden, and the "Yes" checkbox should be unchecked
    -If the "Yes" checkbox is checked, the "Submission" subform should appear, the "SubmissionNo" subform should be hidden, and the "No" checkbox should be unchecked
    Both checkboxes default to being unchecked and save properly, but after I close the pdf and then open it, the appropriate subform that should be showing is still hidden despite having the "Yes" or "No" checkbox being checked.
    I have the following script in the docReady of SubmissionNo:
    if (noCheckBox.rawValue=0){
    this.presence = "visible";
    else{
    this.presence = "hidden";
    and I have the following script in the docReady of Submission:
    if (yesCheckBox.rawValue=0){
    this.presence = "visible";
    else{
    this.presence = "hidden";

    That should work. You're missing semicolons after each statement and I thought that might be tripping it up but it worked fine when I tested it, every statement in JavaScript should end with a semicolon but if there is just one line I guess it works ok (see below).
    if (litstudiesckkbox.rawValue==1) {
         subform1.presence = "visible";
    else {
         subform1.presence = "hidden";
    When you are in Acrobat press CTRL-J and the JavaScript console should open. Then click the checkbox and see if any error messages appear in the console window.
    If that doesn't show anything if you can share your form via acrobat.com (or some other file sharing site) then I can take a look. If you use acrobat.com then once you have uploaded the file you need to select it and Share it and then Publish it, then you can paste the link here.

  • Browse and Open  an Image from a phone,  save too

    can anyone tell me how to browse and open an image from the phone and then save that image with different name?

    you only have access to file fia the File Connection API, otherwise you can just read it from your jar, not writ or change the name.

  • Dreamweaver CS6 cloud - I can no longer use "Save As'  and the Application manager won't open.

    I always open an old page and use "save all"  to save it,  then "save as"  and change the name of the page to what I want the new page to be the rewrite the new content. It doesn't open a box for name change any longer. Also The application manager does not open at all.
    What to do to fix this?
    Roger

    Hi Roger,
    Can you close other applications open on your computer, and retry before the experts here suggest other solutions?
    Thanks,

  • Can I save and open an attachemnt at the same time?

    I want to be able to open an email with an attachement or attachments and click on the save button for the attachment(s), designate the location (folder) where they are to be saved - but also tell Mail to save the attachments then open them up on the desktop. Two operations in one. If you understand my request you understand what you have to do now - two separate steps. Save. Then find the saved files and open them.
    OR
    Open the attachment from the email which then downloads the file to your designated "all-purpose" location (not the ultimate location you'd want to save it). Then once you've seen it, you do the save thing with the original mail attachment and then have to go back and delete the file from the designated all-purpose download location.
    This latter problem of having to delete unedited downloads manually could be solved with an option in Mail preferences to automatically delete unedited downloads in the "all-purpose" location after that same attachment had been downloaded to another specific location on your hard drive. This option for deleting unedited downloads does not exist, however.
    But even if this step-saver option existed in the preferences, you still would not be able to tell your Mac to save a particular Mail email attachment to a particular folder AND open that attachment at the same time in one command.
    That's what I want.
    Maybe I want both. Save and open together plus the ability to automatically delete unedited attachment downloads in the "all-purpose" download file after the same attachment has been downloaded to another specific location on your hard drive.

    with IOS 6 yes you will be able to do that

    16bit? Pixels extending beyond the canvas? (from a crop with delete unused pixels turn off).  Have you previously been saving PSD files?
    IME you sometimes have to tell Photoshop that the first save of a session is JPG, and it remembers from there on.  The way to 'tell' Photoshop that JPG, or PDF, or PNG etc are now your preferred format is to Ctrl (Cmd) click on that format in the Save As drop down list.  So long as the file does not have parameters that your chosen format does not support, then this should work for you.
    [EDIT]  Just noticed that you did include 'Crop' in the subject line.  Do you have 'Delete cropped pixels' checked?
