HOW do I write my DVD to .dmg so I can burn it on my other Mac?
My Superdrive is in the shop.
I have my project ready to go, and want to DMG it to burn on my other Mac.
Is this possible -- HOW?

CDs I burn on my Mac won't play on other CD players

When I burn a CD on my mac it plays back fine on the computer but when I try to play it back on any external player there is no sound. All the files were in aiff format before I burnt them. Other Mac owners tell me they have no problem playing theirs on other players. What am I doing wrong?

I found out what my problem was. I was burning tunes that I imported from old records through "Final Vinyl", directly by putting the music files into the trash, rather than through iTunes. Even though the files are in aiff format as well, they will then be burnt in a data format which is not readable in regular CD players. when I burned them through iTunes all was well.

Create your playlist in iTunes, making sure it will fit on a CD (time and size of playlist shown at bottom of window).
I think as you're in Lion, it'll be iTunes 10? If so I believe the burn option is now in one of the menus - probably 'file', but it shouldn't take much finding).
Selecting Burn should give you a dialogue some thing like this;
(This is iTunes 9, so it may not be exactly the same).
Choose Audio CD and set the gap if reqd.
Click burn, then insert the CD when prompted in the top of the iTunes window.

NOt an iPhoto issue - either a bad CD or a bad Superdrive on your computer - no way for us to tell try the CD in a different computer

Hi - you have will have to change the device passwords on all the base stations and then don't give them to anyone except the administrators and tell them not to save them on their computers that use the older versions of the Airport Utility - for the newer versions like the mobile apps, as soon as you enter the pasword it is saved and is visible in the advanced pane along with the network password - so if anyone gets a hold of your iPad or iPhone, they can edit the whole network - I have this same issue with my networks in the office and it is inconvenient but doable - I hope this helps

Repair permissions and restart your computer. If this does not work, zap the pram. You should now see your external hard drive.

You can create a Quicktime movie slideshow of the book's pages and share that. Here's how to get your book into an iPhoto slideshow and then export as a Quicktime video:
1 - While viewing the book type Command+P to start the print process.
2 - click on the PDF button and select "Save PDF to iPhoto".
Note: If you don't have any of those options go to Toad's Cellar and download these two files:

Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
Unzip the files and place in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder and reboot.
3 - select either of the files above (300 dip is used for photos to be included in a book that will be ordered).
4 - in the window that comes up enter an album name or select an existing album and hit the Continue button.
That will create a 200 or 300 dpi jpeg file of the item being printed and import it into iPhoto. Immediately select all of the photos in the new album and sequentially renumber them as "Page " using the Batch Change ➙ Title to Text with the option to add a sequential number to each title. This is to let you put the pages back in the correct order in the event they get sorted incorrectly.
Now you can proceed as follows: create the slideshow in iPhoto and export it out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar. Select Size = Medium or Large (480p with iPhoto 9),

If you want to save Android Phone contacts to Excel format, you can have a try the following method:
Step 1. Connect Your Android Phone to Computer
After downloading and installing the Coolmuster Android Assistant software on your computer, launch it and you will get the program interface prompts you to connect your phone to the computer. Just use a USB cable to connect your phone to the computer and the program will detect the connected phone automatically. If it is the first time to run this software, you may encounter the following picture and be required to enable USB debugging on your phone at first. If your device can be detected by the program, you can directly skip to the next step.
Step 2: Go to the Contacts windows
All your phone data are categorized on the top menu. To transfer Android phone's contacts, you can go to click the "Contacts" icon to enter the Contacts window. Navigate to the left panel and click on the "All Contacts" option, then, all the contacts in your phone will show in list on the right window. Mark the contacts you want to backup on your computer and click the button of "Backup".
Step 3. Start to export contacts to computer at once
Once you click on the "Backup" button, there will be a "Path" dialog appears, asking you to choose an output location where you want to save the exported contacts. Specify an output folder and then click the "Ok" button. LaCie d2 Blu Ray Burner not burning in Encore Mac

So I've built a blu ray disk in Encore and all set to burn the Blu Ray disk. When I hit burn, the LaCie drive asks for a disk. When I put the disk in, it waits and waits and then spits it back out. The disk is blank, and is a writeable Blu Ray disk. I am able to create a disk image but not burn it to a blu ray using my mac. Any imput?

The preferred method for many of us is not to use Encore to burn. For Mac, use toast. (For PC, imgburn.)
I always suspect permissions issues and/or other software taking control.

Problem moving xcode cocoa c++ app to other mac's

Hi everyone,
My apologies if I am posting this in the wrong forum/section.
I am developing a C++ Cocoa app using the latest version of XCode on my MACOS which is running Mountain Lion. It is a fairly simple C++ app but upon copying the executable to another machine, it states that it will not run due to the version of MACOS being different. Apparently my wife has 10.7.5 and I have version > 10.8 so I'm confused how I can make my simple C++ app written in Cocoa work on other macs. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

1. On MAC # 1: In the XCode app, I right click on PRODUCTS folder and choose SHOW IN FINDER. I then grab the APP file and drag it to a brand new folder called "TEMP" on the desktop
2. I open up Disk Utility
3. Click on FILE -> NEW -> DISK IMAGE FROM FOLDER
4. I choose the the TEMP folder
5. It successfully creates the DMG file
6. I then right click the DMG file and press the COMPRESS option which zips it up
7. I then use a file sharing service (yousendit.com, sendspace.com, etc.) to submit the file
8. MAC # 2: I get the app, decompress it. I then double click the DMG file which opens the Disk Image
9. Upon double clicking on it, it states that there are compatibility issues and that the program is not able to run. I get two options 1) Ignore 2) Report.

You have a couple of options for transferring your music library from one computer to another. First, you can download all of your music that is stored in the cloud on iTunes Match by following the instructions on this page:

You can follow steps listed in the section right here:
Play or download songs from iCloud
You can play songs directly from iCloud, or you can download songs so you can play them when you’re not connected to the Internet.
If a song is available in iCloud, it has a Download button next to it.
To play the song, double-click it.
To download the song, click the Download button.
After you download a song to a computer, it remains in the computer’s iTunes library, even if you turn off iTunes Match.
To only display downloaded songs in your iTunes library, choose View > Hide Music in the Cloud. This also hides any previous iTunes Store purchases you haven’t downloaded.
For information about downloading and playing songs on an iOS device, see the documentation for the device.
In order to make it easier to download all of your music, you can highlight all of the songs in your iTunes Match section and then click download, as mentioned in these instructions.
You can also choose to transfer the music from your old computer to the new one by following the steps in this article, whcih will give you some other options for doing this transfer:
