Save as in ps6

saving a file in PS6 and choosing jpeg, ps save in iff and the same thing happens in other formats.
The only righteous are psd and tiff formats
how can you fix?

Colour washed out when using image processor in Bridge CS6

Hi there
I hope somebody can help please?!
I am editing raw files in Camera Raw 8.2, then using image processor through Bridge CS6 to save them as both jpegs and tiffs.
I am finding the colour on the saved files is coming out a little washed out and faded.
If I open them individually and save them in PS6 as jpeg and tiffs, the colour remains vibrant and true to the original raw file.
I have thousands of these files to go through and don't have time to open each one individually in this way so I am desperate to automate this process while still retaining the great colour in the original shots.
Can anyone tell me why the shots are coming out this way and help offer a solution for me please?
Any advice would be massively appreciated!

Do you have Include ICC Profile checked at the bottom of the Image Processor dialog?

Missing Document Icons

I have Adobe Photoshop 6 and if I save a document to the desktop the document name shows but not the icon. Adobe TS have seen this and say it is an Apple problem. Photoshop 5 saves with the correct file icon. In fact if I open the photo that has no icon in PS5 and save to the desktop the Document icon is displayed. I have the correct Preferneces set in PS6.
Any thoughts welcome.

Just done two things. 1. Used Disk Util to repair the disk 2. After reboot used ONYX to clear and rebuild .DS files. The icons reappeared on the desktop BUT when I save again from PS6 they are missing, so PS6 is doing something naughty... No other App does this. InDesign and Illustrator are OK and so is PS5

How stop PS6 from removing the DPI-value from an image when using "save for the web"?
Example:
- Open a tif image, that contains a dpi value (resolution).
- Use the splice tool in PS6.
- Export the slices with "Save for web", as gif-files.
Then the dpi value is removed, the gif files has no dpi value (it's empty).
How can we stop PS6 from removing the dpi value when using "save for web"?
OR:
When using the slice tool, how can we save the sliced pieces without PS removing the dpi value?

you can make your art go a little bit over the bounds. or you can make sure your artboart and art edges align to pixels

HDR save/cancel is greyed out - bridge sooooo slow. PS6

Hi I am having more frustrations again with the HDRs engine. Now it opens and I can make some changes but it will grey out the open and cancel buttons if I move the cursor from the laptop monitor to the external monitor, forcing me to essencially force quit PS6 (something I have to do often enough in the last month or so. opening the HDR in the laptop window does not do this but hampers my workflow. I have an additional problem with bridge which hangs, lags, crashes and generally acts like it doesn't want to do anything I want it to. I have recently swithced to a VPN server and after that is when things started to get strange. I know bridge needs an open port now but so perhaps it's that. These things; the external monitor and the VPN are just as important as PS6 so.. How can I config things so they run smoothly? thanks. Perhaps if I replaced the external monitor for one with a faster refresh rate? Found a way to bypass dinamic link??? I would LOVE to find a way to do that!!! dynamic link is a real drag (literally).
I am on a macbook pro with 8GB RAM, 500 GB HD and a samsung synchmaster not mirrored.....I want to append that either monitor will cause the HDR dialog to grey out save/cancel. If I change from one app to another. THIS is what is causing it! HOW can I fix?? I will update as I see there is a new version. And report back to this thread.......It indicates that the app is up to date. No updates available. I had this problem with HDR pro early on with PS6. and the same problem is back, rendering the fooling thing useless - it freezes me out of any further actions causing me to have to force quit to get back into PS.... I had stopped using HDR pro when I upgraded to PC6 from 5.1 for this reason. Looks I will go back to good ole' reliable photomatix......Unless anyone have a fix????? Anyone?

Sorry no. I see that message constantly. I don't believe in turning off warnings.
All comp[atibility does is save a flattened Photshop 2.0 version inside the file. ID will use that as the preview instead of making a new one if it's there, but it has no bearing on anything else, as far as I know, and makes the file much larger than necessary unless you actually plan on trying to open it in Photoshop 2 or some other application that can't read newer Photoshop files.

Hi, after reinstalling Photoshop PS6 I cannot any longer save smart collections in Bridge. I create a smart collection by entering criteria, but when I click on SAVE, it is not saved. In my old installation (before I had to install a new hard disk), that never was a problem.
I am using Windows 7. Before, I used a hrad disk for the system, now I have a SSD, plus seveal hard disks for data storage.
Can anybody help me with advice what the problem is?

jpeg is a lossy image compression. Try seeting the "quality" input to 100 (default is 80).
I would recommend to use PNG instead, it's a better format for this purpose. (jpeg is for photographs).

PS6 - Incremental File Naming Using Save As in an Action

I've searched everywhere and anything related to this points back to using a Batch process, which will not work for what I need to do..
Here's my project process (if someone has a better mousetrap please share! )
I need to be able to scan in an image of 9 playing deck card size images at a time, and have them saved as individual JPGs. Here's how I'm trying to do it.
1. Using Import, I scan in the 9 cards.
2. I create a selection marquee that covers one card.
3. I created an action that does teh following: COPY -> FILE NEW -> PASTE -> SAVE AS JPG -> FILE CLOSE
Theoretically I should then be able to just move the selection marquee to the next card in the scanned image, run the action.. rinse and repeat for the 9 images and then scan 9 more.
Problem is I cannot find a way to incrementally name the files - no matter what I try I end up with an original file (first card) and a COPY (last card processed).
Am I going about this all wrong?

That would work if I scanned each card one at a time but that would increase my scanning time 9X.

When I quit Photoshop CS6, the following message appears:

If I try to change the Workspace in PS6 from Essentials to any other Workspace, the following messsage appears:

I have checked the Sharing and Permissions section of the "Get Info" panel accessed from the Finder and I have set Read and Write Privileges for my user account for Photoshop CS6. System and Admin are also set to Read and Write.
I have a MacBook Pro with OS X Version 10.9.5 and have all available updates for Photoshop CS6, Lightroom 5 and Bridge CS6.
I tried uninstalling the program and downloading it again and reinstalling, but nothing changed.
Can you help?

Photoshop CS6.1 Cannot save file as .tif-program insists on .pdf

On Mac Pro using OS X attempt to save completed file as .tif. Photoshop insists on saving it as a .pdf. None of the format shown in "Format" field link up with actual extension.

Hi. I have used the PS CS6 trial and an Epson v500 scanner to scan a 6 by 4 image at 6400 dpi using File => Import => From image device. The file was saved as a pdf and opened automatically in CS6. I was satisfied with the image and wanted to save it as a something other than a pdf since pdf is not really a widely accepted image format for archiving. The image size came out to ~ 6 GB. I went to Save As and the only options I see from the save as format drop down box were PSD, TIFF, and PS Raw. I tried Tiff, but it told me it cant save files past 4 GB. IM not interested in the other 2 formats it allowed me to save as. Any ideas? Why cant I save as a JPEG or BMP when something ahs been scanned as a PDF?
As for plugins, I downloaded the official PS CS6 Mac plugins and placed them in the appropriate plugins folder.
Are there file size limitations with respect to saving a copy when you have opened a file as a pdf?
Its not that there is anything wrong with the pdf format, its just that I cannot use the scanner plugin for importing an image from PS6 to save as a Tiff or JPEG under 6400 dpi and 48 bpp settings (this problem was discussed ina nother thread).
Any ideas?

Sending tiff files to PS6 Problem

When I edit raw files adjusted in LR5 and save in tiff and then want to do additional edits in PS6 it sends them first to PS6 Camera Raw. Then I must open in PS. Is there a way to send direct to PS6 and not have the files open in camera Raw first.

Hi folks - Sorry this is not going to be a solution but I have the same problem - for me the recipient has Irfanview and receives my 'jpegs' in one document but cannot open them as jpegs - the only way they can open my images are as bitmaps... Bitmap quality is so bad on the net where my images are ending up.
I sent them to my windows PC at work to verify my recipients problem. I used several applications to open these images and could only open as bitmap.
Theodore are your recipients having this problem?

Why can't I save a re-sized image in the new size and new dpi? This just started happening 2 days ago.

I haven't been here before.
For some crazy reason when I try to save a re-sized image with a different dpi, PS6 indicates I have saved it.
But if I go to re-open the same image, its in a different (but proportional) size and its original dpi.
I also have PS3 and if I open the re-sized image in PS3, it opens in the correct new size and the new dpi!!
What's wrong with my PS6??

Thanks but I don't think you understood the question so I'll be specific.
I took an 8x12 image at 300 dpi (not ppi) and enlarged it to 20x30 at 240 dpi.
I then did a "save as" for this larger size and it seemed to save properly.
I closed the image.
When I re-opened the image in PS6 it opened as 16.667x25 at 300 dpi, not the saved 20x30 at 240 dpi.
That shouldn't happen.
When I opened the same image in PS3 it opened as 20x30 at 240 dpi the way I saved it.
So my question was why isn't PS6 opening the image as it was saved?

PS6 keeps crashing randomly

CS6 has been working fine for months and now just loads of problems .....
Photoshop CS6
12gb ram
64 bit windows 7
scratch disck - primary c: with K: as secondary
PS6 randomly crashes when I use topaz labs plug ins
I also get the following message when saving
"could not save "d:\ file location\file name" because the file name was not valid.
I have re installed both PS6 and Topaz labs but to no avail
the only change is that I suspended my cloud subscription which I only took out to use premier for 1 project.
My copy of CS6 was purchased prior to starting the cloud subscription and is on disk. Would the could issue have some thing to do with it?

Um, that makes no sense.
What properties?
What "plugin option"?
Did you disable the Topaz plugins so they would not load in Photoshop?
And have you checked with Topaz to see if they have a new version to fix the bugs in their plugins?

Feature Request? Need to be able to see save progress in fullscreen.

Absolutely loving the new background saves in PS6! It's changed a lot of my workflow for the better.
One thing I don't like, and this might be an oversight on my part, but the two save progress indicators are not visible in either fullscreen mode. And I always work in fullscreen mode.
A very common thing for me to do is to save my PSD and then immediately save as a matching tiff (after every time I complete a change). Because I can't see the save progress I see the error message about not being able to save as when the file is saving. And then I end up waiting longer than necessary before trying again.
And while I'm at it for fullscreen notes; I'd really like too see the delay when exposing pallets and tools by mousing to the screen edge removed. I don't know why it's there, but it makes me crazy. The one second clunk as it shows the little bar and then does the animated slide every time feels like a stall in my thinking. Go to the edge *and* clunk comes the bar *and* swoosh comes the panel *and* then get back to work…

This made me think as I was working:
That point where I see that error — it's one of the most common things I do with my day and I've never been able to automate it. I'd love to have an option or method that takes less steps.
The thing I usually need is a matching, flattened tiff with all my working PSD files (the "print" file).
As things currently stand I save my PSD and then do a save as, switch the file type to tiff, hit okay (usually hit rreplace), then hit "discard and save a copy" and hit okay (least number of steps I've ever come up with).
This is something I've done literally thousands of times, every day, day after day. I'd love to have it save automatically, or run an action, or something.
And I've never been able to engineer an action to handle it, the replace and filename issues just make it too unwieldy.
Sorry for getting in on this whole beta process so late, but there you go…

I use lightroom 4 whit photoshop CS6 when I send any file from my NAS server whit LR4 to PS6 when I want save it take "Could not save because write access was not granted" .
But I didn't have this problem whit LR3.6 and PS5.
I use mac os x 10.7.4

This always happens to me on the NAS on LR3 and LR4. If the file is local, no problem. But on the NAS it has issues with permissions. For me it says the file is in use and can't be overwritten. I'm trying a new drive today with a differnet filesystem (HFS+). Maybe that will work better.
