Save as-- in Safari

Hi,
I'm new to the world of macs and am loving it! I'm a convert.
Anyway, I'm looking to save a financial statement from my bank on to my hard disk. When I view the page at their site, the extension at the end of the URL is .asp. I have tried "Save As" as an HTML file (in Safari) using the "page source" option in the "Save As" dialog box. But when I try to open it from the folder, it won't open and states their are errors.
Any suggestions on how to save this .asp file?
Thanks

The only question I ask myself now is, "what took me so long"?
That's quite a common statement for those who have awakened from the Windoze experience.
Something else to keep in mind about your new computer. Routine maintenance is important for keeping your machine efficient. For routine maintenance I use OnyX. There is no charge for the software, but I believe the developer asks for a donation.
It's very easy to use. I run it twice a month. Once it is installed, you would double click on the OnyX icon in your application folder (or drag an icon to your dock for quick access) to open the application. After entering your administrator password, you would select "automation". The panel looks like this:
Select the same items I have checked and then select "execute". The program takes about 5 to 10 minutes to run. Leave your computer alone, that is, don't use it for anything else until OnyX is finished. Once complete, restart the computer and you're good to go.
Once in awhile, you may find it necessary to clear the Cache files for the System and Kernel, especially if the system seems to be "slow". You can accomplish this by checking the respective boxes in the same automation panel described above. Remember, this is done if necessary, not as a matter of routine. Have a look at this post from Niel for a better description of c.learing caches with OnyX.
Good Luck and thanks for the and Aloha from Big Island.

  • Still unable to save bookmarks in Safari 5.1.2 - any clues?

Starting with Safari 5.1.1 on Lion I have been unable to save any bookmarks after an initial few hours running when it has been possible. I had hoped that the new release of Safari 5.1.2 might have cured the problem, but it doesn't appear to have done so.
I've followed all the suggestions on various posts and cleared the numerous plists and caches. This results in being able to save bookmarks in the normal manner, but only for a few hours or so. The next time I open Safari I find that I am once again unable to save any bookmarks without going through the whole rigmarole of exporting the bookmarks, trashing all the Safari preferences, restarting Safri and importing all the bookmarks once again.
It's great if you have the time and the patience, but my patience is wearing very thin by now.
Does anyone have any definitive solutions to this problem, which happens on all my Macs running Lion and Safari 5.1, thus ruling out a problem with just one Mac?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account, or is system-wide. Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select “Help” from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Any application you run will behave as if you were running it for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
As Guest, launch Safari and test. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.

  • Finder in Save file dialog Safari crash

Ever since I upgraded to Snow Leopard at launch, Safari 4 doesn't seem to like me searching in the save file dialog box. It doesn't seem to matter whether or not I actually save the file, and I made a screen recording to show what happens here:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFKkPI2vGr8
I've reset Safari, and I repaired my disk permissions after loading up Snow Leopard. What gives? This is really annoying when I want to get to a folder fast, and dragging and dropping image files to folders seems to cause them to open in different Preview windows (or not even open at all).
Any help would be much appreciated. This is seriously making me consider going back to Firefox or just going with Chrome - this crash doesn't happen with either of them!

The problems are caused by third party input managers/enhancers that have not yet been updated by their developers to comply with the standards used by Safari 3.2.1. and/or Safari 4.
    In your case these are:
    com.zang.RegexKit 0.6.0 (0.6.0) <71374A4A-3B24-4759-E994-AB9E135345CB> /Library/InputManagers/Safari AdBlock/Safari AdBlock Loader.bundle/Contents/PlugIns/Safari AdBlock.bundle/Contents/MacOS/../Frameworks/RegexKit.framework/Versions/A/Regex Kit
You fill find them in one or either of these folders:
    Home/Library/Input Managers
    Hard Disk/library/Input Managers
    Hard Disk/Library/Application Support
although the exact location is indicated in your crash report as quoted above - look under 'Binary Images'.
Close Safari and delete them, then restart Safari and it should be working normally. Alternatively drag them to the desktop and restart Safari. then add them back one at a time, restarting Safari every time, until you find the one (or more) causing the crash.
Check with the developers of the plug-ins in question for updates that are Safari 4 compliant.

  • Can't save PDFs from Safari or Firefox after latest (10.1.3) update

I just installed the latest update, and now when I open a PDF in Safari, I can't save it to my computer. I get a message saying "The document XXX.pdf could not be exported as XXX." When I try to do it from Firefox, the PDF won't even open. I tried deleting the plugins and reinstalling Reader and that didn't help. Any ideas? Thanks!

    Hi mccradks1,
Regarding firefox, update it to version 10.0 or later and use it in 32-bit mode only.
To save pdf's in safari, please try using the save button in toolbar and see if it works.
Toolbar is present in two different forms:
    1.
    2. This toolbar appears when you hover the mouse at bottom of pdf screen.
    Thanks,

  • How Do I Save PDFs in Safari

Safari in Mountain Lion displays PDFs but it doesn't provide any Preview tools to zoom or save. The Help File suggests otherwise. I do have Acrobat Pro and Acrobat Reader on the Mac, but Preview is the default app to open PDFs when I double click on a file. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Move the cursor around the bottom half of the document near the horizontal center; when it's over the right location, a set of tools will appear.

  • How do you save pictures in Safari directly as desktop background?

I just switched from Firefox because I'm thinking of getting a Mac someday and wanted to adjust to some of the software. I love Safari but it's missing something Safari had. When you right-click on a picture in Firefox there's an option to 'set as desktop background'. Is there a way to do that for Safari? Thanks.

As the other poster says, it doesn't look like this option exists yet. (I expect it will appear sometime, especially given that it's in the Mac version of the product ..they probably just had other priorities with what they wanted in the first non-beta release.)
But in the mean time, it's just one more step: Right-click and use the "Save image to Desktop" option, or whatever save option you have, or drag it to the desktop, then double-click on it (it will probably open in the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer), and from there you can right-click and use the "Set as Desktop Background" option.
Me, I'm a bit of a perfectionist with these things: I prefer to save it, then open in Photoshop and crop and tweak it so it looks perfect. (IrfanView is a good Photoshop-substitute for these kind of tasks.)

  • Can no longer save image from Safari??

Since iOS 6 upgrade, the "save image" feature from safari is gone!  There's a bunch of other options (message, email, copy, etc...), but no way to save an image I find online into my camera roll.

  • Service: save image from safari

I have a folder on my comp that I save cool images to as I come across them online. In the past I've always dragged the image into the folder or saved to my desktop and later moved it into the folder.
I'd like to set up a service for safari so that when I right click on an image I can save it directy to my "cool images" folder without having navigate there each time. I just want to click once and know it's there.
I've tried to figure out how to copy the image to the clipboard and save to the new location, but I've hit a wall and don't really know the best way to go about it. Any ideas?

Ah! You want a definitive answer and don't want to do the work yourself. Sorry, if I had one, I'd pass it on, but if the links I posted don't lead you to one, then I surmise that it doesn't exist. I'll leave you with this classic:
+"As the drill will not penetrate the granite unless kept to the work hour after hour, so the mind will not penetrate the secrets of mathematics (or other sciences) unless held long and vigorously to the work. As the sun's rays burn only when concentrated, so the mind achieves mastery in mathematics, and indeed in every branch of knowledge, only when its possessor hurls all his/her forces upon it. Mathematics, like all the other sciences, opens its door to only those who knock long and hard. No more damaging evidence can be adduced to prove the weakness of character than for one to have aversion to mathematics; for to have aversion for mathematics means to have aversion to accurate, painstaking, and persistent hard study; and, to have aversion to hard study is to fail to secure a liberal education, and thus fail to compete in that fierce and vigorous struggle for the highest and truest and the best in life which only the strong can hope to secure."+

  • Why can't I save pictures from Safari in my Photos app anymore?

I can not save any photo from mail or safari in the photos app since I upgraded to iOS 5. This is very annoying since i lost all the media I had doing this and now I can't get my pics back. I will complain in an apple store soon. I hope they will fix this, or sb here will figure out whats wrong...
    Thanks

I'm glad you answered so quick ;)
I think my problem is harder to solve than that. What you say is what I first tried to do. Since the sync with iTunes was still working, I could still have some pictures in the photos app, and each time I was syncing new pics from my computer ( PC btw ) I had a prompt that said sth like "xx elements have not be synced, check what on iTunes on the PC" but there was nothing on iTunes, and every pic I synced was here in the photos app. I thought there was a directory problem, or ghost pic files issues, so I made a backup of the iPad from iTunes and I disabled the autosync with iTunes. when I got it back, I directly tried to save a pic from safari and mail (even before syncing anything) and it was still not working.
I really can't figure out why is this occurring, and I haven't tried anything else for now. I think I will show this up in an apple store cause it's kinda hard to explain.
PS: sorry for the mistakes, I know this is annoying and makes my weird stuff hard to understand, but English is not my first language. (but I will keep on, the English community is still the best!)

  • Save Passwords On Safari

Okay, so all the time i would always press "Never For This Website" and now i want to save it for that website. However it won't show up now.
    So what do i do?

Okay, however when i try to save a password it won't show up.
Can you describe better what you are trying to say, this isn't very clear.
So, you were able to make Safari giving you the option to save the PW for this site again, yes/no?
You are "trying" to save the PW, and Safari stores it it, yes/no? (Check Preferences again?)
When you close and relaunch Safari , then open the website, Safari fills in the PW, yes/no?

  • Cannot print or save pdf from Safari

When I try to open a page in preview from Safari to save it to my document management program or print it from Preview, I get the error message "Error in printing".  Any thoughts?

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print or save PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to do so by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar should appear under the cursor. Click the printer or disk icon.
    Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
    Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    and check the box marked
              Allow Plug-ins
    Then click
              Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
    Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
    Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others—I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.

  • Save session of Safari?

I've been switching from Firefox to Safari just recently.
I am missing one feature from firefox (actually, it's an extension), though.
In firefox i could open several URLs in different tabs, and when i quit firefox, it would save all these tabs, the url's they were currently displaying, plus the history for each tab.
Then, when i would restart firefox, it would restore all these tabs.
Is there anything possible in Safari? Maybe with the help of an add-on or applescript?
The important point with the Firefox extension is that it works automatically, so that if Firefox crashes, you can always restore the whole session.
    Best regards,
    Gabriel.

Saft Is a third party Safari enhancer, please check it is the right version for your os before you download it, though i believe it is.
For AppleScript the experts would be helping in this

  • How do I permanently turn off "Save Password" in Safari?

I use 1Password. I never want Safari to save a password OR to ask if it should. How do I turn that off?
    thanks

Thank you for the answer. To Apple, however: that's not very user friendly to put it under "AutoFill" rather than "Passwords."
I preferred the old "Never for this website." There are low-security sites that I don't worry about., but with Yosemite, you have to say "no" every time you go to a high-security site like your bank, or pass up the feature altogether. And this morning I found that because of s slip of my finger sometime, my MacAir was giving immediate access to my bank accounts to anyone who had my computer, and just deleting the cookies for the site wasn't enough. The old method allowed the user more options in return for a one-time choice at a new website.
Since Steve Jobs died, Apple is making all sorts of "improvements" that aren't, in my opinion. Like eliminating font choices on the desktop, or giving us a new look sometimes featuring small, gray on gray words, and making that worse by putting them in delicate Neue Helvetica Light. Nine-point, Neue Helvetica Light in gray on a gray or even a black screen on an iPhone screen to be used outdoors is just bad design.

  • Save picture from safari

Is there a way to save a picture from safari and have it on the pictures location either in the camera or just when you are viewing photos on the iphone?

As stated earlier this is currently not a supported feature at this time.

  • Why can't I save images from safari? The only option it gives me is Copy.

Every time I select an image on safari, the image highlights and  the only thing that happens is it gives me is the blue bubble that says copy. It doesn't give any saving options. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi, if you are still interested, I found a solution. so quick tap on the picture in Images that you want, then under the pictures you'll see three vertical dots, next to closing cross. when you are pressing on dots you'll have several option, you need to press "view image".
The image will open in seperate tab and then you can save it as you would usually do it. hope it helps! )))
