Save As in Title

We talked about this before, using "New Title Based on Current Title" to rename a Title.
I'm not able to take a Title and save it under a different name in the same directory.
When I save a title using "New Title Based on Current Title' I don't even know where CS5.5 saves the file (yet) but it's certainly not saved in the same directory as you would get with the regular "save as" in Windows. Meaning, the currrent directory the Title is in.
This feature seems to be very necessary when editing (at least I use it a lot). Am I missing something here. I just want to save a Title in the same directory under a different name.

As has been mentioned, Titles are actually inside of the PRPROJ file, as XML code, with all necessary instructions included. When you Create New, Based on... more XML code is written, and the name that you apply to that New, Based on... is linked.
Now, to get a physical Title, Saved to the HDD, for use in multiple Projects, you are then Saving a Title Template. This is a physical file, ourtside of your Project. The format will be PRTL, and if you Save that Template into a sub-folder in say your Adobe\Premiere Pro\[Version Number]\Templates folder, it will then be readily available when you choose New Title>Based on Template>User Templates, for any/all Projects. When you use one of your Templates, you can still make any changes needed, such as Text, additons of Images, etc.. Note: PRTL's can only be opened and used in PrPro.
Once you understand Titles (in the Project) and Title Templates, using them will become much easier, and almost second nature. Whenever I create a Title, that might have future use, the first thing that I do is Save it as a Template.

Can't combine two PDF doc in Preview and save under different title.

I regularly used Preview to combine two scanned pages into a single document and them save them under a different name using "Save As..." With Lion I get a unhappy run-around within Versions and can't save the combined document. I wound up placing the two files in folder and zipping it for transmission via Mail. What is the procedure under Lion with Versions, or how do I disable Versions? I can track my documents quite adequately without Versions.

You can combine PDFs directly in Preview, but the interface is a little tricksy.
First open the sidebar in Preview. If your existing PDF has only one page, there will be just that one thumbnail.
The key is to drag new files onto this thumbnail/icon, not below it. If you drag below it you'll just show two separate docs in the same preview window-- but if you drag on top onto it it will highlight and the two files will combine. Then you can hit save.

FCPX won't save text in Titles

- After restarting FCPX, some text is missing and some has changed font - often from and earlier, partial build. Several different titles templates, same result.
App is running from 1TB boot drive and saving to 2TB internal raid.

Save / back-up titles - error #261

In the last few days, I have not been able to create a back-up DVD with iTunes, although it was possible until quite recently... The process starts correctly: it does analyse / check the titles and then, when starting to write on the DVD, the laptop ejects the DVD and iTunes indicates an error 261, without more explanation.

Running the script in AppleScript Editor will highlight the relevant line ...
So i guess the error occurs when it reaches the if-statement. Put it in a try block:

if sheet 1 of sheet 1 of window 1 exists then keystroke space

and maybe do the same with the corresponding line in the contacts-block....
A GUI-Script like this one is always a little shaky since you need to pause your activities while running it.
I wanted to note that just because i might have a better solution for you: an AppleScript-application that backups Contacts and Calendar without using GUI-Scripting. You will find it here (and do be surprised about my spelling as i am not an English native speaker)

Getting itunes to save song changes (title/artist) to actual mp3 file

i know this is possible.
basically when you edit a song in ITunes, etc Song Name/Artist/Album artwork, getting this information to save to the actual mp3 file, so if i were to send it to a friend who added it to her ITunes, it would show up the way i edited it.
i know i used to be able to do this on my PC, i'm now running on a macbook OS X version 10.5.2. and itunes version 7.6 (29)

Can I copy and apply title style edits? Or save them to favorites?

I'm doing a slideshow in iMove and I have a lot of titles. Is there a way to copy and paste a style or save an altered title to a favorites list? I've started with one of the stock title styles but altered the font, kerning, leading, color, transparancy, etc... But I don't want to do this every time for every title. Can I copy and paste the "graphic style" like I can with photos in iWeb?

I am not aware of a way to do this with copy/paste. Copy and paste in iMovie allows you to copy video adjustments or sound adjustments to other clips.
One way to help accomplish what you are looking to do would be to create your title slides in a new project called title templates. When you start a new project, you can right-click (control-click) on the project name in the project source list, and select Duplicate. Now you have a new project ready to go with your title already in it.
Similarly, you could take your existing project with the title you like. Duplicate the project. Then delete everything except the title. This could be your template.

Firefox doesn't save the web page's title as themselves!

I want to save web pages, for example a link like below:

in other browsers like Avant or Opera the web title saves as itself (for example for this link the web title save as "APOD_ 2008 April 6 - Wisps Surrounding the Horsehead Nebula" ) , but in Firefox the web title save as "ap080406" .
I appreciate if somebody help me that ,if I can save the web title's as themselves.

Firefox now always stores the old session which you can access by going to the History menu and selecting "Restore Previous Session".
If you always open the last set of tabs, an alternative approach is this:
# Click the orange Firefox button, then select options to open the options window
# Go to the General panel
# Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

Titling/caption information doesn't save?

Right off I noticed there's no "save" feature in Aperture. According to the Mac guy at the Apple store, there's no need for it as the application automatically saves everything. Next time you open the app it's all there...
I just re-opened Aperture for the 1st time in a couple days & the book is still there, with all the pages, but it will never save the book title.
Each time I open the app it just says "TITLE HERE".
What could cause this? How do I get my book title to remain?
This concerns me as I just ordered a book and don't have any confidence that the title I entered will be printed.

Well repairing permissions through disk utility didn't work.
In the end I converted the file to AAC from within iTunes and I was then able to edit & save info field again. I know this is not a fix but it is a usable work-around.

How can I find a missing pages document with no title created on Ipad

I created a very important pages document on ipad that i didn't save with a title. It vanished when an inapp notification appeared while working with the document. It is not in cloud nor anywhere in my pages library. How can this happen? Please tell me there is a way to recover this file? At the time of the incident I was running the latest version of IOS (7.1.1) and pages (2.2 -1259)

IMovie 5.0 doesn't save project folder

I installed iLife 5.0 and it worked fine. Then I installed Tiger. Now iMovie no longer saves a folder containing audio and media folders but only saves the project title icon with a star. When I work with the project all the stills end up in the trash, and the program freezes while I'm working on a project. iPhoto has also frozen when I was working on a slide show. The frozen applications will force quit with command + option + escape, but the cursor remains frozen and I've had to shut down with the power button and restart. I've also noticed that Mac Help is not functioning correctly. Clicking on the blue underlined topics does not take me to a link as it should. I've Restored Permissions, used Cache Out X, and used Terminal (sudo sh /etc/daily). I'm not sure what to try next. Should I reinstall iLife 5.0?

As Bengt says, your problem is more fundamental than an iLife glitch. Have you tried creating a new User Account and testing whether the problem then disappears? If it stays, then it's a problem with the System.

Save/Save As wont work in Garageband 10.0.1

I recently updated to the latest OS and quickly downloaded the latest Garageband (10.0.1). I recorded multiple tracks throughout the day only to find out that my project would not save. I have uninstalled Garageband and reinstalled it only to come accross the same problem. Whenever I click on Save or Save As, nothing pops up. When I recorded the tracks and thought that my project was saved, I tried exiting the program only to get the "Do you want to save the document title "...", and when I click save, the screen disapears and I do not get another screen to input any options or directory to save it to.
When I open the program the next time and go to Open Recent, it obviously doesn't show up... I am able to see previously recorded projects using Garagband 6? in iCloud, but they do not open into the program.
Please help me out as I have been unable to find articles of anyone else having similar problems...
If reinstalling my OS is the answer/a suggestion, what are the steps to do so? (Have never done on Mac)

If GarageBAnd is working well from a different user account, then hat confirms that the GarageBand application and your Mavericks application are all right.
Thar leaves your current GarageBand project or the preferences settings and caches in your home folder as possible causes for the problem, or startup items, that are are only installed for your current user account.
Have you tested with more than one project in your current account?

Why can I no longer Save As a Word document?

I work in Pages, but whenever I need to send a document to someone I convert it to Word since most people seem to use MS Word. It's never been a problem, until today. I go to Save As... under the File menu and try to save a document titled "XYZ" as a Word document. But it is giving me this error: "The document “XYZ” could not be exported as “XYZ.doc." That's it. No explanantion, no reason why it can't do something it's always done. I also tried the export route. But, while I don't get an error, the supposedly exported Word document never appears where it should. Did some recent update cause this snafu? Any advice?

Changing file name to iphoto title

Hi I understand that I can export a photo from iphoto with the iphoto title but I have over 6000 pics in iphoto. Is there a way to save the iphoto title as the file name without individually exporting then importing back into iphoto? The main reason I want to have the iphoto titles for all of these pics is to save the double, sometimes triple handling involved if I am looking for the pics in other places or trying to send large numbers of photos to others and they receive them as file names not iphoto titles when i email them (or I have to keep opening them to see what they are in other areas-like the picture library for instance)? Does apeture allow you to keep a title as a file name? I often download over 100 pics at a time from my camera directly into iphoto. The thumbnails allow me to edit information including title without individually opening each pic. If I don't import from my camera directly into iphoto what other options do i have that are not going to be time consuming? thanks

No. iPhoto tracks the pics by their path on the HD and this would change the path. iPhoto will then lose the pics.

Anywhere you search for the pics you can search on Title, you don’t need to use Filename.

But why would you be doing that? That’s what your Photo Manager is for.

Use Image Capture to move the pics from your Camera to the HD. Rename the files and then import them.
I really don’t think it’s necessary to actually rename the files. IF you can describe your workflow for searching or accessing the pics I think we might be able to suggest an alternative way to access them without or without opening iPhoto.

PS CS4 save action that prevents file clobbering?

Does anyone know of an action step or event script that will alert you to the existence of a file when using non-dialog save commands in actions?
Scenario:
Suppose I have a "Save" action that points to a specific folder, I then save an image titled XXX into a folder called IMAGES. Then either intentionally or accidentally I get a new (i.e. completely different) image called XXX that I edit and resave to IMAGES via the action. Right now, CS3 and CS4 actions with suppressed save dialogs do not alert you to the existence of a file in the target location. It just saves over it.
I am using function keys to trigger script steps since I have different routines based on image content so batching a directory is not preferred.
The ideal solution would be an "if file exists in path" step.

You will need to write a script to check if the file already exists.
Install the script listener plug-in. Record you save step and check the listener log file on your desktop.
You can then do a if ( File("fullpathtofile").exists ) { alert ('dont do that'); } else { ... do regular save here ... }
Another option would be to use a unique file name generator so you don't ever clobber a file.

How do I save as?

How do I "save as?" I recently upgraded to Pages from Appleworks and it's very slick but how do I "save as" an existing document? In other words, I have one resume with contact info for every job I've ever had, and I used to delete info from it until it was targeted for a specific job, then "save as" and title it that new job.

Graham,
You will have to think just a little bit differently now in Lion. Do a File > Duplicate before you begin deleting things. File > Save the duplicate with the new name, delete the extraneous stull, Save and Close the new document.
Do not make the changes before duplicating, or you will have to use the revert function, which to my way of thinking is a rescue feature.
