"Save as" is unresponsive despite numerous attempts to fix

I had a trial of Photoshop CS5 as well as Illustrator.  When I upgraded to CS6 it no longer wanted to "Save as" so I searched the web for a solution.  I saw something about not mixing up plug-ins from a previous version with a new one and to remove them.  Since I'm new to all of this I couldn't figure out how to because none of the message boards stated how.  I didn't have this issue with Illustrator, which is odd but I figured they're just different programs.
I needed to set my laptop back to it's factory condition anyway and hoped that would solve the whole plugin thing.  So I reinstalled Photoshop and Illustrator CS6 and nothing changed expect now Photoshop won't even "save".  I can "save for web" but that's about it.  Illustrator is still able to do everything.  Once again I searched for solutions and the only thing I came across was that my screen resolution should be a certain size but this wasn't an issue before.  This is a good time to mention I have Windows 7 Starter and have a mini laptop.  Yes, I know this isn't the ideal computer to use for these programs but it's temporary and I'm just confused about why it suddendly doesn't work.  I'm new to all this stuff so be kind and thank you so much for your help!

  • Firefox refuses to update past v2 despite numerous attempts

    Hi!
After seeing repeated nag msgs from youtube etc informing me I was using an out of date browser, I downloaded v 3.6 from mozilla website. I ran the program... it did 'a little housekeeping' and updated my FF, or so I thought...
fast forward a couple of months later and I'm still seeing the nag msgs. Turns out my firefox didnt update! So in desperation I uninstalled FF completely, then installed v3.6. What a surprise... I'm still on FF2.02!!!
It's getting to the stage now where despite my love for FF I am going to have to stop using it and switch to a browser that actually updates properly so I can protect myself from the current swathe of ridiculous popups etc. Anyone have any ideas on how I can update my FF to something relevant to this decade? :D

This part of the user agent shows that you have Firefox 3.6.3: rv:1.9.2.3 Gecko/20100401
You can check the '''general.useragent''' prefs on the '''about:config''' page.
You can open the ''about:config'' page via the location bar, just like you open a website.
    Filter: '''general.useragent'''
If ''general.useragent'' prefs are bold (user set) then you can right-click that pref and choose ''Reset''.

However, what am I supposed to do with that code? Put it in the Terminal? Save it as an Apple Script? I also got the "lingon" program set up, all I need to do is figure how how to save this "bash" script and all set!

Any other suggestions out there folks?

On Oracle Metalink site, there are many documents which says that Oracle 32 bit software works on 32 bits OS and 64 bits software works on 64 bits OS. Official support is only in those combination....
So there is no good way to help you in your case-XE is 32 bit application with hard codded compiled libraries which most of them would not work on 64 bit OS.

Tell us more about the disk and partition onto which you are trying to install Mountain Lion:
Open Disk Utility (in Applications > Utilities). The left column should show your disk with its partition(s) indented below it:
How is the disk (top level container) formatted according to Disk Utility:
    * What Partiton Map Scheme? (Should be "GUID Partition Table".)
    * How many partitions? (Should be 1 unless you have a Boot Camp partition.)
How is the partition (lower level container) formatted according to Disk Utility? (Should be "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)".)

  • I can't copy certain songs from my iTunes library to my iPhone despite repeated attempts

I can't copy certain songs from my iTunes library to my iPhone despite repeated attempts. These are songs I copied way back when from CDs onto my computer.  I can play them on my computer just fine in iTunes too. Status bar says "Updating files" and "Preparing to Copy" but nothing actually copies to my phone. My phone shows the songs greyed out and circles to the left of the song in the Store column and the songs never get copied onto my phone.
My guess is that there is something I am missing or something I am doing wrong.
    Any advice/help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Cannot install XE despite several attempts

I wanted to use XE with the latest version of DevSuite, as the database on our unix server is too old. However despite several attempts (and hours) I cannot install it. I even uninstalled DevSuite in case this was a problem.
Firstly when I try and install, I get as far as the 'Creating and starting services...' box and there it hangs. I end up having to kill the process.
I then uninstall, remove any registry keys, reboot and try again. This time it gets past that bit, moves on to Creating Database step 2, then passes very quickly to step 5 and says it's finished. The home page will not display. When I look in the postDBCreation log file it says:
    SQL> connect "SYS"/"&&sysPassword" as SYSDBA
    ERROR:
ORA-28547: connection to server failed, probable Oracle Net admin error
I've tried a couple of different passwords but makes no difference. Have checked my locale (UK).
I have no idea what to do and am on the verge of giving up :( can anyone help?

Have been trying again this morning. It doesn't hang anymore, but the install still fails after Step 2 of the create database. I don't have spaces in my windows username, I have full admin privs and the only other Oracle stuff I have on my PC is Jinitiator. There's no oraociei.dll. • Word & Excel won't launch after attempted "DiskFull" fix

In trying to fix a not-very-important issue, I have lost access to all my MS Word applications. Here's what happened:
I occasionally have the "diskfull" error message, so I tracked down
an article (see below) and used Workaround #2 to put the "FixDiskFull Issue.dot"
    in my Word startup folder.
Now, unfortunately, none of my MSOffice files open . I just get the
    "quit unexpectedly" error message.
Here is the webpage where I got the attempted fix: http://word.mvps.org/Mac/DiskFullError.html
Here is the Workaround #2 that I tried:
    Workaround #2
You must have Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) installed in order for this workaround to activate. If you have never installed VBA, you will find it in the Value Pack on your Office X or Office 2001 installation CD. After installing it, you will need to re-apply all Updaters appropriate to your version of Office.
Clicking on the following link will download the fix to your computer: FixDiskFullIssue.dot
Install the template by dragging it into your Applications: Microsoft Office (2001 or X): Office: Startup: Word folder. You should now see “Disk Full Error?” on your File Menu in Word, just below the various Save options. If you do not, you will have to perform a few extra steps as follows:
Go to the Tools menu: Templates & Add-Ins. You should see FixDiskFullIssue.dot in the Global Templates & Add-Ins box. Make sure it is checked.
If FixDiskFullIssue.dot does not appear in the Global Templates & Add-Ins box, click on Add, navigate to the FixDiskFullIssue.dot template (in the Office: Startup: Word folder), and double click on it. It will now appear in the Global Templates & Add-Ins box where you need to check it to enable it.
With the template properly installed, if you ever try to save a Word document and get the “disk full” error, just go to the File menu in Word, click on “Disk Full Error?” and you will be prompted to allow Word to close all temporary files. You will also be reminded to perform any desired Undo actions since they will no longer be available after running the fix.
In trying to fix things myself, I have:
Dragged the "FixDiskFullIssue.dot" to the trash, emptied trash and
restarted. In other words, I tried to undo what I did the first time.
    No effect.
Opened Time Machine, navigated to MSWord and "restored" thinking it
would put yesterday's Word back in. But Word still doesn't open.
Contacted the author who says she cannot help me and to try a Forum.
I'm at a loss. Perhaps there is something else installed outside of MSOffice that affects what happens on startup?

I thought of something else that might be causing all these launch failures. This morning I opened an Excel doc from someone who has a newer version. I was prompted to "convert" it so my app could read it. Now, when I try to open any of my own Excel docs, all the Excel I have tried to open since the problem, flash on the screen, and a "converting" slide bar opens and tells me it's trying to convert the file (from what? It's mine!) and then everything stops and I get that familiar "the application Excel quit unexpectedly."
So, perhaps this conversion attempt this morning has corrupted something unrelated to the attempt to fix the "Diskfull" issue.

You don't delete a file, you have to delete a folder. Is that what you did?
If you deleted the folder specified above, and you still get the message, then it's the wrong folder. Use your operating system's search function and find ALL folders on ALL disks whose name ends with Previews.LRDATA, delete each one found, and then try opening Lightroom.
