"Save As..." with abnormal behavior (bug in setting correct path)

When opening a pages (or numbers) document by double clicking the document e.g. in list view in the Finder window, and then select "Save As...", the path (target directory) shown and used is the path where you last saved a document. The correct behavior would be, that the path (target directory) of the currently opened document is used.
Cause of this bug you often have to search your "saved as" documents and
really have a disruption in the workflow. As well if you remember to select
the correct path it is a disruption in the workflow.
So where is the correct place for this information for having a chance that developers get alerted and fix this major bug, cause "Save As..." is a very often used and important operation.

The subject itself, not the apologetic defense like a dogma should be discussed. Playing on words does not bring any improvement.
I spent my time writing this content, for helping us to improve the product, or in this case, help to recognize a mistake. Not i want to come to the fore, it is for us. I already explained the reasons, which can be understood by the nature of the matter itself.
E.g: Adobe Products as Photoshop, AI, ... are examples you are looking for. But the question for examples is not needed, cause the cognizance of the benefit is enough. If the majority is wrong, you will always be able to bring more wrong examples, so the cognizance is more important.
As Adobe has always been one of the great partners and e.g. Photoshop, Xpress, now InDesign lead to Apples customers from the beginning, the behavior of "Save As..." is well defined by these chief products that have been used since the beginning, but not as a dogma, instead the behavior has - as explained earlier - a very good reason.
So i am very thankful, that you explained that it is a consistent rule. I know about these consistencies, but did not know that this behavior is also defined as a consistent rule. As e.g. Adobe does not use this rule it seems that it is not one of the very strict rules, like where the "file" or "edit" menu has to be.
I hope i could repacify you, cause of my figure of speech using "All other applications". You did not tell me your thoughts about the real content and my explanation. Don´t you agree with my cognitions for us?

OpenFirmware, set correct path

Hi all,
I have a MacMini G4, 1.25Ghz and messed up (don't know why, actually)
the OpenFirmware boot entry to boot MacOS X. I'm able to boot with
the install DVD however (but the internal harddisk doesn't show up when
holding down the alt key). When asking the installer of the OS to list
possible boot targets the internal disk (where my Mac OS X resided)
is shown. But setting to boot from it fails nevertheless.
Who can I set/save the path to the OpenFirmware?

I just did that after posting. Disk Utility found all partitions (1 Mac OS X, 1 linux swap and 1 linux root [without naming them, of course]). And checking the first one (Mac OS X) did not yield any errors.
Then I set the startup disk according to the list (Mac OS X showed up), restarted and got nothing. Just the blinking folder.
Disabling extensions does not help as the operating system is not loading...
There's probably something wrong with the disk layout (partitions), a missing entry or the like.

Macbook, Snow Leopard 10.6.8 Since the last software update Safari 5.1 will not save history. Prefs. are set correctly, reset has been done, appropriage plist has been trashed, now Saf. 5.1 has been re-installed. Still dumps history every time

Prefs. are set correctly, Cache has been dumped, reset done, appropriate .plist trashed, and finally an uninstall and clean install done
with 5.1.1 download from the Apple support site.
The problem still exists, making me very suspicious that this is a bug.
Any solutions? Let's hear 'em.

BIWS abnormal behavior

Hi Friends
Currently we are working on SAP BW 7.4,BO 4.1,Dashboards 4.1 environment
1)Bex query based BO Webi Report is designed and running fine with 4 blocks
2)4-Blocks based 4-BIWS are used to design Dashboard
3)When dashboard is previewed for 1st time any 1BIWS will return data but not other 3 and in 2nd refesh any 3-BIWS returns data but not 1-BIWS
Could any one suggest the probable reason behind this abnormal behavior

Save Dialog in Office Application does not set the Content Type to the one selected on Document Creation.

We have a Library that supports 4 Content Types ("Content Type 1","Content Type 2","Content Type 3","Content Type 4")
The user clicks new and selects "Content Type 3"
Word is started
The user edits the document
Clicks Save
"Choose Content Type" dialog is shown set to the Content Type "Content Type 1" because the Document content type is ordered as First (which also means Default)
What is expected is the "Choose Content Type" dialog to show "Content Type 3" as selected

According to your description, there is a library with four content types, you create a document with one of the content types, click save button in Office application,
then a “Choose Content Type” dialog will show up for selecting a content type.
I tried to reproduce as below:
1. Create a library with four content types;
2. In the ribbon of this library, “FILES”->”New Document”->”Content Type 1”, then the Office application with the predefined template will be opened for editing;
3. Click the “Save” button, choose the save path as the current library, click “OK” to finish the process;
4. Refresh the library in browser, the newly created document appears there.
In my test, there is no “Choose Content Type” dialog showing up when save the document in Office application.
I would suggest you provide more details about how to reproduce this issue(screenshot would be better) for further research.

Claim and Approval action giving abnormal behavior in worklist app in oim11gr2.

we have following environment...
weblogic 10.3.6 and oim 11g r2 bp03 in two node clustered environment which are load balanced with apache http server,everything was working fine with initially configured oim front end url wls.mycompany.com:80,Then we were forced to change the oimfront end url to identity.mycompany.com:80 by following
1.oim config change
2.call back url and worklist app changes in approval task of each composites in soa-infra
Observed following abnormality behavior in approval workflow of application instance provisioning after oimfrontend url change.
when approver click on approval task ,the claim action popup window displayed successfully
when approver claim the action and it completes and popup window persist there with blank display(Observed a chopping of front end url from identity.mycompany.com/identity/faces/...... to www.identity.com/faces/.........Then approver needs to close the popup).
when approver click on approval task the approve action popup window displayed successfully

But the thing is recently 3 months back i implemented this ESS part in one server it is working fine.I'am able to apply Leave,Claims,Loan,travel from EP and the approver is able to approve the requests from UWL.When clicking on the Request in UWL it is launching a webdynpro iview and i'am able to perform the actions.
Now i'am facing the problem and i hope i did the same config which i did previuosly.
What would be the reason any Patch levels?

InContext editing error: This region contains content with dynamic behavior added..

We just set up a web site with InContext editing following the procedures in Business Catalyst documentation to do that. But now when we go to the administration section of the site, and turn on InContext editing, it won't let us update the text. We receive an error message:
"This region contains content with dynamic behavior added..."
Does anyone know what causes this problem, and how to fix it?

InContext Editable (ICE) regions can only contains static areas like text and static assets, it cannot wrap around javascript – populated areas or dynamic content like slideshows. (most likely causing the error)
ICE can edit only static page content such as regular HTML content. It cannot edit any element that is dynamically updated for example a div (or another element) which is manipulated (created or its contents are modified) by JS– populated areas or dynamic content like slideshows. It cannot edit menus, content holders or content outputted by system modules or tags either.
By default, on a page that has no ICE editable regions defined the editor attempts to find any regions you might want to edit and if possible make them editable. If it does not find the correct regions you want to edit you will need to explicitly define some editable regions.

How to save file with the "/" symbol in the name?

Hi,
I have Adobe Professional 8. I need to save files with names that include the symbol /, but Adobe interprets, for example, A/88/6, as file name 6, in a folder named 88, in a folder named A, and sets up new folders to accommodate that. I cannot substitute another symbol as I already have thousands of pdf files in a database using the / symbol, and I need them in the same folders.

As I said, I'm pretty ignorant about these things. I wouldn't know how to begin using a "hack". All I know is that I was able, for over a year, to save .pdf files directly from my browser on several computers, and use the forbidden "/" symbol in every file name. After saving the files, Adobe will happily open them, and allow me to edit and re-save them, although I now see that it will not allow me to "save as" them under a different name without removing that symbol.
I may not be tech-savvy, but I can state that everything I have said here and above is entirely accurate. I would be happy to open a dropbox account to show you countless .pdfs with the symbol "/" in the name.
This is honestly not that big a deal. I greatly appreciate this discussion, and you have inspired me to become slightly less computer-ignorant.

HFM EPMA application deployment aborted with error Object reference not set

HFM EPMA application deployment aborted with error Object reference not set to an instance of an object when trying to validate/deploy any HFM application in EPMA. This has started happending after we have deleted a Dimension in one of HFM applications. The deleted dimension is a shared dimension.
We are facing this issue in a distributed environment with version 11.1.2.1. This applications are built here newly.

There was a bug in earlier releases for deleting dimensions with children, making the children orphans.
Heard from release notes that it has been fixed, but we are seeing this issue in 11.1.2.1 again.

Save/Autosave with multiple projects open?

For one show our editor is working on, she may have upwards of almost 6-7 projects open at any one time.
An odd thing happened where her computer crashed, and her last autosave was from one hour ago. It's odd because the autosave time is set to occur every 30 minutes.
But aside from that, does a 'Save All' command save all open projects? Or does it perhaps only save projects with open sequences?
What about autosave? Does it autosave anything that's open, or only certain projects?
Does the time it takes to complete an Autosave equivalent to the time it would take to normally 'save' a project?

Autosave should save all open projects. once it reaches the limite for the number of saves, it should throw away the oldest ones as it creates new ones. I'm not sure what it does when it reaches the limit for the number of projects. perhaps check this preference.
It sounds though as if autosave has stopped doing its thing for some reason. This seems to happen with even the most current versions of FCP from time to time. I have no idea why. Trashing prefs should get it to work correctly again.

"Save for Web & Devices" Huge BUG and major annoyance!

Photoshop CS3
I am so tired of losing all of my work for this bug it isn't even funny! It doesn't lock up Photoshop but does make it impossible to save anything including all the currently cropped and resized images open in PS. It forces you to lose hours of work in some cases which is what just now happened and I want something done with this since it is probably the biggest annoyance from a BUG of all the adobe products ever.
To replicate this bug:
Open an image, any image.
Go to File and Choose "Save for Web & Devices".
Once the "Save for Web & Devices" dialog box is open choose save, BUT here is the bug, after the Save As dialog box appears choose cancel to go back to the open and now useless "Save for Web & Devices".
Attempt to now close the "Save for Web & Devices" dialog box.
The issue is it won't close once I cancel after choosing save from the "Save for Web & Devices" dialog. I cannot resize the window or do anything in PS when this happens since it takes complete focus. I cannot close the box or choose from most of the options on the right since now at this point they'll all be blank.
This has happened before and I had learned to save no matter what to avoid this but just forgot and am once again about to lose HOURS of work because of it...
I have searched and searched and cannot find a separate process to close in device manager to stop just it (which is lame). All I can do is close PS and say good bye to everything I had already done.
Of course I would like a solution to this and a fix but having owned Adobe products for years know this is highly unlikely and to get a fix you must buy the new version (pathetic). So, I will settle for yet another hopeful work around to get around this idiotic BUG.
EDIT: I have rebuilt my preferences countless times (since that seems to be needed for so many of Adobe's products issues) as well as complete resinstalls of the CS3 Production Premium Suite to no avail. I have dealt with this issue for several years and several new installs. I have an aviation forum and people have been able to replicate this on theirs installs as well, to include one CS4 user.

I have listened to people. In fact read my second post. It was seeing the 1st two that couldn't duplicate the error get on the phone to a friend in Germany that was able to duplicate it. I then came back here and shared what my suspicions were of the Matrox unit. The other person able to duplicate the issue has yet to return to the forum for me to further check with (I guess some people sleep).
To be clear here. I have owned CS3 since it's release. I have built myself several computers since I bought it and this one is actually the third since then. This particular issue though was never seen until a few months ago since I seldomly use the Save for Web for saving files and just started using it on my latest flash site.
As for video cards. This card I am using is my 3rd. My GTX 260 was great but being having other joys of the PC I also always kept up with the latest and greatest cards so thus came my last purchase of the GTX295 before the newer ones hit. Point being, the issue is most likely my Trip2GO and plan on testing when I get home and get it ripped apart. I do web design on the side which is one reason the trip2Go for my home workstation. The other point is that I do a LOT more than Adobe work and my card needs to be high end and not some cheap card just to make my suite work. Maybe in the future I'll make another comp,,, one for every other product I own and then one just for Adobe's products.
Now as for tech support and myself. I am A+ certified. I am certified in every OS since Dos 6 and a hardware engineer. I do tech support, have 3 support forums and 11 web site, all primarily based on support. My comments above were not about getting mean, it is because Adobe support in general is one of the worst that I have ever had the misfortune to deal with and strongly disagree with the way they cut support and updates to a year old product (that's when no more patches came out I meant and known bugs were written off for the next version). To say try a new video card to me is like a supposed "tech" to say reinstall your OS, or like here reading people say (what I originally said I did) about clearing the preferences. Sure, this help clear up lots of Adobe product abnormalities but listen up folks, it's not a SOLUTION, it is merely a work around. It shouldn't get so screwed up to begin with. This is not my product and although I have tried it, it is wrong to not fix these issues and just expect people to keep refreshing there preferences. It takes me hours and days to get things back the way I want them and normally half way to heaven another bug and I have to reset them yet again! This is us dealing with a broken product, period. It is far from a solution, there's a huge difference.
Moving along,,, This build is a few months old but my windows install is much more recent. All firmware, drivers you name it is up to speed 100% I guaruntee. My hardware is all working perfectly with the propable exception of the Matrox rig. It has to be it. Being that the 1st two people to reply in my own forum were able to immediately duplicate the error had me thinking other but as you should be able to see is that changed fast and if you read this thread from top to bottom you'll see that I have been providing all the answers people are asking.
Thanks again, I'll report back tonight. My current plan is to go through the painful process of getting just one monitor working without the Matrox unit, flushing my preferences and trying again. I think it will work fine but will report back either way.

Save data with SubReport

How to save data with SubReport so I can view the report later without connecting to the data source?
Does the ReportDocument SaveAs(some name, true) Saves the data with SubReport?

Iu2019m sorry to tell that this solution is no longer valid for somehow!!! It was working, but suddenly it becomes not working.
What I did is I have installed Visual Studio 2010 and before releasing a new version of my solution, I checked the reports module. I found that again it is not working.
One client will save a report to the disk using this code:

Arthur suggestion works but you shouldnt even be doing this on a SQL Task.
Use a data flow task. You'll have better control over the data that is being transfered and get better performance because no staging table will be used.
Just because there are clouds in the sky it doesn't mean it isn't blue. But someone will come and argue that in addition to clouds, birds, airplanes, pollution, sunsets, daltonism and nuclear bombs, all adding different colours to the sky, this

How can I configure the save page mode (to save DEFAULT WITH OR WITHOUT images and other dependencies in a folder)?

I like it that I can save webpages with or without dependencies in a separated folder. And its implementation in Firefox (e.g. it remembers how I saved something before, and that way becomes the default) can also be good sometimes. But usually it is not.
Usually I want to save pages as HTML-only. Sometimes, but only sometimes I have to save a page as a whole (I don't know the name of the feature). But after I save something with dependencies, I often forget that, and don't care about this option. Firefox, however, doesn't forget it, and saves thousands of unimportant images, until I notice it and switch it off again.
This is not good.
I tried Google Chrome, which simply don't remember how I saves something before, and always select the complete page option for default. It is exactly the opposite of the perfect solution (in my opinion). The best would be if the browser would save everything as HTML only, if I don't change it. Or it would be even better if I could configure it manually (turn this remembering feature on/off).
This is not a beginner's problem, so it would be good if only a config option solved this. I imagine that already exists a config option for this, but I could not find it. I found only the "browser.download.save_converter_index" option, which depends on how I used it last time.
Is there a config option for this? Or should I report this in the Firefox brainstorm page?

That choice is remembered in the Integer pref browser.download.save_converter_index
0: Web Page, complete (default)
1: Web Page, HTML only
2: Text files
If you want to reset that choice to HTML only on every start of Firefox then you can use this line in the file [http://kb.mozillazine.org/user.js_file user.js]
