Save automatically report at each step

Hello,
I would like to save the report automitically at EACH step of my sequence file and not at the end of the last step.
Is there some options in Teststand 3.5, that allows to do this?
Cheers
Risotto

Hi Steve,
Thank you for your answer.
I don't know if it will work: the problem I had with Teststand 3.0 was that the report "stay" in the memory until the sequence was finished. And the execution of the sequence last... 3 days. Usually after 10 hours, Teststand crashs because there is no more memory.
But I will try it.
Cheers,
Risotto

  • BatchModel - 10 loops and save test report after each loop completes

    Greetings Everyone,
We are using TestStand 2010 and presently using the BatchModel.seq for a quantity of four (4) UUTs in a Burn-In configuration.  The Client sequence loops ten (10) times.  I am wondering if there is a way to save the test data report at the end of each loop and create another one for each of the loops after that.  Is this possible or am I asking too much from the TestStand software?  Thank you in advance for your responses to this latest post.

    Hi Doug,
         Thank you for the reply.
I will discuss these with my co-worker whom had a hand in the development of this client file.  This client file was developed mostly by a contractor who works for our customer.  These options sound like they will do the trick.  The client file is used for Burn-In, so there are three levels of testing at three different temperature levels.  We are trying to track down some possible bugs in this contractor's code in which the client file crashes and all data is lost.  This will at least give us some options of collecting the data in a fashion that we shouldn't have to worry if there is an error during the process and at least retain some of the data.  Thank you for your reply and if there is anything else we have trouble with I will post again.

  • Save Report before last Step

I have a vi that I created that takes a Teststand Report, cleans it up and modifies it in several ways (including changing the filename and saving it on a server). The problem is that I must wait for Teststand to finish the sequence and save the report before I run this vi. I would like to call this vi as the last vi in my sequence and have it do its magic automatically.
I suspect that in order to do so, I must modify the TestStandModel.Seq but I do not have much experience in this. Is their anyway to save the html file that it is building (tempReport) before the last step so I can have my last action modify it. Another possibility might be to complete all steps, build report, then call the vi after I (the user) declines to proceed to
next UUT. BTW, I only ever have a report for one UUT so the html report only represents one run through the sequence.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi,
Since you mentioned you dont have a lot of experience with the process model, I'll explain to you a little how that works and then tell you how you can solve your problem.
The process model (SequentialModel.seq if you are using the sequential process model) is the sequence that handles the execution of your tests. When you select Test UUTs a sequence called Test UUTs is executed. It asks you for the serial number, calls you main sequence, reports the results, generates the report, and continues in a loop until the user declines to continue with the next UUT.
The Test UUTs sequence calls other sequences in the same sequence file. It calls PreUUT Loop before it starts looping several UUTs, it calls PreUUT before testing every UUT, it calls MainSequence, it calls PostUUT after every UUT is tested, and finally, it calls PostUUT Loop when the user declines to execute the next UUT after generating the report.
These sequences are configured as callback sequences. You can override callback sequences in the process model in your own sequence file. Actually, you are already doing that. I mentioned above that the process model call a sequence called Main Sequence. Well in your own sequence file you have a sequence called Main Sequence, so your Main Sequence executes instead of the Main Sequence of the process model (which is empty).
You can do the same with the rest of the callbacks. What you need to do is override the PostUUT Loop callback in your sequence and call your VI in this sequence. This will execute when you decline to go to the next UUT.
What you need to do is go the edit menu in TestStand and select Sequence File callback. Here you have a list of callbacks that you can override. You will see that you are already overriding the MainSequence callback. Select the PostUUTLoop callback and click add. Now your sequence file will have a sequence called PostUUTLoop that will be executed when you decline to go to the next UUT.
Good luck and let me know if this solves your problem.
    Marcela.

  • Modifying the 'Grade Book' template to have a Report for each student

The grade book template looks like it could save me from buying Bento 2 and look prettier in the process. However, I might need to get some applescript help.
The default template has a Report page, and it includes one student. The included comment says to change the students name to change the values.
I want to have one of those reports for each student automatically generated and printable so that I can give them to the students at the end of the term.
Obviously, I don't want to generate each report myself (320 students ... not a fun way to spend a day). Applescript seems like the solution, but I don't know how to use it.
    Can anyone lend a hand?

Not seeing exactly what you want it's hard to be sure what solution may work - fortunately there are others here that know far more than me.
I don't know how charts and graphs are moved to Pages, but if it cut and paste, I suspect it would be unlikely that you could do it with charts or graphs based on individual students. If it can be done with a mail merge, maybe it could.
But I'm thinking a different approach may be possible if the only charts or graphs you use are to show the class info and mail merge the individual student data.
Let me see if I can explain what I'm thinking of:
You mail merge info like scores for each test and/or just the average of each grade category, plus the overall average and personal comments.
As part of the pages document that is the same for every student, you could put the charts or graphs in for the class as a whole. For example, if you wanted the student to see the class average for each test to compare to their own score, you could have a graph for that CLASS info and then they could look at their mail merged info to see how they compared. It just wouldn't be part of the same graph.
I think this would let you have the same info as in the template, but structured a bit differently.
You may also be able to reproduce everything from individual tables into one big table - more than just normal summary info - and work from that. Basically it would be a table of just formulas pulling in from the other tables.
This is something I'm looking at for some of my projects, but I haven't worked out the details yet.
    Good luck.

  • Report builder - build step level test execution results report

    Hey,
I'm working on showing Test Results from MTM from specific mentioned plan using Report builder 3.0.
I can see, we have all needed details including Test Case, Test Run and Test Result under Metadata. Problem is we want to go further and see result of each step of executed test case. For example, we want to see how many "Steps" are passed out
of total steps of test case if test case is failed or test case is in-progress.
I can't see any information "Steps" level when I select measure group at  "Test". Please help me with that, I'm trying to see this since a year now. This will save our manual effort of checking into the results using APIs.
Would appreciate any information on this please !
    Best Regards,
    Shrikant

    Hi _Shri_,
According to your description, you want to show the status(Run, Plan, Result....) for each case. Right?
In Analysis Services, measure represents a column that contains quantifiable data, usually numeric, that can be aggregated. Dimensions are groups of attributes based on columns from tables or views in a data source view. In this scenario, we should create
more measures to show the status of each case instead of creating a lot of dimensions. I suggest you create one measure for each type of status and only keep one Cases dimension.

Are you trying to save the HTML output ? You might encounter probs. with that, but that is more due to IE security

Based on the description, I understand that you want to add subreport in the main report. When previewing the main report, the subreport can be shown in detail. Please see the screenshots on my test:
In Reporting Services, we can create parameters and pass them from main report to subreport in order to control the data dynamically.

  • Can we view line numbers next to each step in sequence file ?

    Hi,
I have a sequence file having 600 steps. I would like to know is there any option in test stand to set line number for each step in sequence editor so that it will be helpful for review.
    Example:

    2 Action2
    600 Action600

    Krishna,
If you just want to know the index of a step, this information is displayed at the bottom of the sequence editor in the status bar.  It shows you how many steps there are in the sequence, how many you have selected, and the index(es) of the selected step(s).
It is also possible to display this information in the steps view as a column if you are willing to create a new column.  Follow the instructions in this KB to see how to create a new column:Changing Columns Properties of the TestStand Sequence Editor Execution View Window.
One of the types of colums is Index. Simply set your column to that type and you will see step indexes as shown below.

  • How do I save a Report to file using Report Generation vi's?(not HTML)

    Hi,
Sorry about re-stating the problem.   I am using the Report Generation vi's to create a report. There is an option to save HTML reports to file, however I must use Standard Report because I need to print in Landscape mode. HTML reports will not print in Landscape. One of the requirements is to save the report to file on the hard disk. I have tried to use the standard Open File and Write File vi's. A file is created, but the report is not saved into the file. How do I connect a report so that it will be saved in the file? I already tried simply wiring the report refnum into the data input of the Write File vi.
I have attached an example of my code.
I am using V7.1 Full Version.  I have V8 available if that is any help.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Chris
