Save Bridge sorting in Explorerfile?

After having sorted the fotos in Bridge in a special order I select a few of them and copy them into a new folder for presentation. When opening this folder in Explorer the fotos are always rearranged according to their number, though there are no checks in the sorting menu of this new folder.
Is there any possibility to save the fotos in the way of the Bridge sorting and open this original sequence in a computer, where Adobe products are not installed so that I have to use the Explorer slideshow?

As far as I know Windows will always use that sort ordering in the Explorer display. What I do is to make a copy of the presentation files, re-order them in Bridge and batch rename them in Bridge so that Windows will use that order.

Adobe Bridge "sort" tab crashing iMac computer

Using adobe bridge go to the view tab, then sort and sort by file type etc. This function does not work, instead my iMac crashes. Any suggestions as to corrections?

Can Bridge sort my images into folders based on an Exif date?

All my Adobe products are pre-CS/CS2 and I don't yet have access to Adobe Bridge. My trial copy has also timed out. However, I would like to know if Bridge has the capability to take a folder of images (Canon Raw) and move them to new folders based on the original exposure date as stored in the Exif metadata (ideally creating the required target folders automatically). I'm thinking in terms of one folder per year, probably with subfolders for each month.
I'm simply trying to avoid having all my images in a single humongous folder with Bridge re-creating (or at least re-displaying) thousands of thumbnails every time I just want to look at a few images. Sorting them into folders by date just seems a simple solution to that problem. However, I'd be very happy to hear about alternative image filing ideas.
Once I have used Bridge to create extended metadata for image categories, etc, I'm also assuming that Bridge will let me search for images that match defined criteria no matter how many folders those images are stored in.

I don't know of any functionality to do that in Bridge now; however, it certainly can be done via scripting.
Perhaps one of our forum contributors might want to take on a "picture sorter" script...

Bridge Sort Order - Secondary Sort Key

Noticed an anamoly to sort order when rating images.
I have sort order set to Ascending by date. Everything starts off fine - all images in the correct order. When I start labeling the images (using numbers 6, 7, 8, 9) the sort order starts changing.
I have several images with the same exact date/time (e.g., 8/22/08 10:15:13) - my camera shoots 6 frames per second.
I start labeling "three" images with the same date/time - as I do, the image I label goes to the "end" of the "three" that have the same date/time stamp. So, now an image I just labeled is moved in the order and I end up labeling it again - which based on how bridge works actually undoes the label - label does a toggle.
Then I hit the next image and rate it - same thing. appears to be sorting on a secondary key when the date/time are the same for multiple images.
Is there a way to stop the secondary sort key affect. It really screws up the labeling flow.

Label Image01 as a "6" - order changes to:

So now image01 is back in the labeling flow...

To further explain this issue:
Original file order:

I look at each file then star File # 1. Instantly, the files rearrange to:
3
2
1
So I back track and start the sequence over (so that I can see files 2 and 3). So I decide I also like file # 2. The order rearranges again into:
1
3
2 or something like that
By now, I'm all mixed up as to what order the event actually happened. The more I star, the more the files rearrange. When I go back to see the rearranged files, they rearrange again. It's all very frustrating when I'm trying to edit a wedding and tell the story. It's imperative that I see all different camera files in order.

Uploading using Bridge - Sort Order

Hi Folks,
I use CS3 Bridge uploader to upload from my CF card. I use the custom file name feature to rename the files. However, Bridge by default sorts the thumbnails from newest to oldest, based on the date/time data. Since I'm adding a sequence number as part of my filename, there's a disconnect between the filename and the date - most recent pics in the upload have lower sequence number than older pics. Any way to change the thumbnail sort order in Bridge uploader? Thanks,

Thanks very much for the reply. I'll give it a try - I think when Windows opens Bridge for uploading, the main Bridge window is bypassed, and the upload window (at least as I recall) doesn't have any of the panels displayed. I should have thought of that :-)

I recently downloaded CC into my iMac. The Bridge sort feature causes my computer to crash.

I use the sort feature in Bridge to sort my images by file type and date created. The sort feature causes my iMac to crash and of course does not sort. The CC is a recent download, and my iMac is new and updated.

That's a *kernel panic.*
They are usually caused by hardware problems, but can be software.
If you have any other peripherals, disconnect them all. Reconnect one at a time to be sure it's really the external disk, and only the external disk.
Run the Apple Hardware Test, from the separate disc that came with your Mac.

How do I save Bridge workspace settings so that screen opens as I want it?

I use CS3 on Intel iMac. Recently upgraded to Snow Leopard, but had printer problems and have uninstalled and gone back to Leopard fttb. Software wiped of course and carelessly I didn't save PS settings. CS3 now reinstalled.
I use Bridge to scroll through my images and then open in PS. I know how to save my own customised workspace (Window, Workspace, Save etc) and I make it Workspace 1 in the lower right boxes. I like the panel maximised without any of my desktop showing (e.g. as when hitting the green button top left) and I like Folders opened up showing in left hand panel, with files showing in vertical film strip on right. Every time I open up Bridge the panel is smaller than the one I saved so I have to maximise the screen. Also Favorites opens up, not my Folders so I then have to open up several sub folders to get the right ones.
Before uninstalling then reinstalling Leopard, Bridge appeared the way I wanted but I can't figure out how to do it again i.e. it doesn't come on the way I left it.
Any ideas?

How to save Bridge info (ie collections) before system re-install

I am about to do a clean install of my XP system.
I currently have Bridge CS4, and have saevd a number of collections.
How can i save the collection information so that once I have done a clean system install and reinstalled Bridge that I can reinstate the bridge data so that I will still have access to all of my collections. I don't want to save the collections out to folders, as this defeats the point of having the collections!
I may also upgrade to CS5 (if that has any influence on the answer).

wel, I wouldn't say that there is 'nothing' to save. If I don't do anything, I will loose all of my collections. this is valueable information that I need (for example, collections for online portfolios, etc, which link to files all over my catalogue).
I am hoping to find out which exact config files i need to ensure i have so that I can make sure I don't loose this information. I will be able to keep the harddrive letters the same, so the paths won't change.
As for upgrading to windows 7 64bit, 8 GB RAM - this is on the cards, but not for another 6-9 months, and will be brand new machine.
Reinstall is required for now, as XP is slowly grinding to a halt. Has been 3 years since last clean install. And I need to keep this machine ticking along for the time being.
Can anyone confirm exactly what settings files i need to grab to ensure i don't loose my collections?

CS4 - Save Bridge Files

I'm wondering if there is anyway for me to backup the files associated with certain Bridge features? For instance I would like to backup all my keywords and collections I have created in bridge. So that when I go and do a clean install of my operating system I can then simply replace the files and have all my collections and keywords back the way I have them. Anyone know how to do this?

Keywords are stored on the image, so you will not loose them. The keyword hierocracy is easier to rebuild from the file which is located in C:\Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Adobe\Bridge.
CS4 and CS5 are individual programs and you do not need to erase the former, there should be no conflict. Most people leave the old editions on, al least until one gets use to the new version. If you need the HD space then that is another issue.

Save browser sorting?

I have several bins containing clips from multiple episodes of our show. I've saved each bin with a column layout that only has "Name" and "Source". I'd like the bins to stay sorted by the "Source" column, but every time a bin is closed and re-opened, it's set back to sort by "Name". Is there a way to keep the bins sorted the way I want them?

Thanks for the reply! Yes, I've done that - I've saved a column layout that only has the two columns I want, and I've set each bin to use this saved layout. My problem is that when the bin is closed and then re-opened, the clips are re-sorted by the "Name" column, even though the "Source" colum was highlighted when the bin was closed. It's not the end of the world to have to switch it, there are just so many bins being opened and re-opened and I'd like to keep them sorted properly if possible.

I have a requirement where in, user should get an option to decide his default tab(role), when he logs into portal.
e.g.: If user1 and User2 is assigned with 2 roles namely Leave & Travel. User1 should be able to select Leave as his default tab and User2 should be able to select Travel as his default tab.
I was thinking if I can store what use selects in a custom property and change the tabs through custom application.
Please let me know how can achieve this in CE 7.3 portal.

Hi Pavan,
If you are using the AJAX framework page the user can simply drag the tabs and it will automatically be saved in the personalization.
user should:
1. place mouse over the role (in the top left corner you will see a triangle).
2. place mouse over triangle and, push and hold down mouse button.
3. drag the mouse to the navigation place where you want it to be (notice black line).
4. leave the mouse button.
Now the order of the tabs are saved in the personalization for that user only.

Is it possible to save and sort document files in a single Cocoa document?

That heading probably makes no sense whatsoever. Here is what I would like to be able to do.
Let's say that I want to create a text journal on my car hobby. I would like to be able to open this document, pick the Ford category (from many auto makes) AND pick the suspension subcategory that I want to make new notes on, and then enter my notes.
I would also like to have the ability of creating a new subcategory under Ford / Suspension / entitled Torsion Bars and so on. I have a myriad of other menu items I would like to implement, but this is the basic idea of the text document that I would like to create.
I know that I will have to use the the NSDocumentController and NSDocument classes, but I am wondering if either of these classes has an inherent method or selector for implementing my goals. Or will I have to manually write these categorizing methods.
I hope I have explained this clearly enough.

This will work if you all use the file syncing of the Creative Cloud desktop application and then you use the Collaborate option for the folder containing all the files. Then it will work on each of your desktops.
Links to files will not work in the browser when viewing the InDesign document from https://creative.adobe.com/files.

Need help saving Bridge file sort order

Is there a way to save the sort order in Bridge CS4? The default in mine is "By Date Created", and I would prefer it defaulted to "By Filename". I change it to sort according to filename, but it just reverts back to date created next time I open the window. I'm sure this is a really obvious setting that I am missing, but cannot find it. Any help would be appreciated.

You can save the sort order as part of a workspace, Use the triangle at top
of the Bridge window (left to the search option) and in here choose new
workspace.
Obvious you first have to set everything you like to appear as you want it
in this new workspace, including the sort order...
For better overview you can drag the vertical line next to the workspace
names to the left to extend them to the left.
I'm sure this is a really obvious setting that I
am missing, but cannot find it.

Bridge CS 6 Not Saving Sort Order

I have CS 6 installed on a Mac. Recently it stopped saving my sort order. The sort it starts with is always the same. I reset my settings and now it still doens't save my sort order but loads with a different one. Now it's Name/Ascending. It used to be Manual/Ascending. I want Date Modified/Descending.'

Coming from the Windows world, I'm not totally enamoured with that feature, but there are others that have made me switch.
And they still are right!
Did you already try to reset the workspace you did use, top right in Bridge Window next to the row of workspace names is a triangle that provides a drop down menu. Select your problem workspace, then from the triangle menu 'reset Workspace'
And yes, you have the option to save the sort order as well as the window location as part of your custom workspace.
