Save button in Maverick's Mail ?

The older versions of Mail, previous to Mavericks (don't recall how it was in Mountain Lion), had a Save (or Save as Draft in older Mail versions) in the bar at the top of the window when composing an email. I know it appears that Mail now saves the messages as a draft routinely, but I also like to explcitly save them myself just in case. There does not seem to be a way to get that back, i.e. no settings anywhere to customize it so you can get a button for Save. Am I missing something or is it really unecessary, i.e. the drafts are saved continuously.

I don't want to derail the whole subject of this thread, but it is quite telling that many Apple proponents that I know on a personal basis and who I work with share our views. I have been using Apple products since writing my thesis on one of those two-mouth Macs back in the 80's. The company has always represented what I cherished - doing what works best and not following a trend. I see that concept fading. Besides using and preferring Apple products for both work and personal acitvities, I am also a significant Apple shareholder having owned hundreds of shares since they were valued in the teens - and I still do. So I am saddened to see the direction the OS's are going. Personally, it is a battle for me regarding holding onto the shares due to the fact that they are a profitable company and balancing that against my perceived notion that they are going in a direction contrary to what was the company's strength. Like I said, I would prefer to still value them more as company that gives us what we need for using the computer as a computer and not as an accessory. That might not be the best fiscal evaluation, but it is hard to change what I truly need in an OS.
I guess it is like the devaluation of music. As a society, we have been willing to give up too much in terms of sonic fidelity for ease of use. That is something we may never recover from. I have known at least two people who gave up their CD collectiions because they saved the music in digital format but neglected to do it in the highest, recorded resolution. They then sold their CD's. Only later did they realize what they lost. But many people would have never realized the loss of fidelity because they listen on iPods, iPhones or whatever. Its a bit sad. Anyways, I promise now to get off of my soapbox. :-)

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folders. In OS X 10.9 there are two sandboxes, while in 10.8 there is only one. If you're running a version older than 10.8, this comment isn't applicable.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder—not just its contents—to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window.
This action will delete any custom Mail stationery that you have created. If you want to preserve it, ask for instructions.
If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Repeat with this line:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.MailServiceAgent
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.

Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

I'm using OS 10.6.8 and Mail 4.5. When I receive mails with attachments which are visible the save button doesn't work. Some contacts have problems opening files sent by me using Mail too. This was never a problem on pre-Intel. A real Mac **** up !

Can you drag and drop the attachments visible in the email to the Desktop OK or does that fail ?
Re the sending: Are these recipients on Mac's or PC's as the file type could be an issue, if on Mac's then try setting the Mail Preferences Composing setting to Plain Text not Rich Text and see if that improves things.

How to disable the Save button For a pdf?

Hi,
I have a requirement that when you open the livecycle developed pdf, the Save option available in the toolbar (Save As icon) and File menu of the Reader should be disabled. A button will be provided in the form separately to provide the Save functionality. Can anybody help me reg. this? Is there any setting available for this in Adobe Pro or any other tool?

It's not really difficult to disable the save button. But it depends on the context from where you want to delete it. even if you disable the save button the user has the option to print screen and create a fresh pdf. So your question has some philosophical aspects to deal with. Please mail me at [email protected] incase of further quries. I've understood your problem and have got a solution but it's not somewhat legitimate to do. I can share it with you through email.

Jump the cursor to the default button in Mavericks?

Does anyone know of a way to jump the cursor to the default button in Mavericks? I found a third-party product called Steer Mouse, but it's $20 and that seems high for a one trick pony.
Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, it's not that easy with setButtonIcons because it forces you to specify rollover and disabled icons, for instance. So it doesn't help if you just want the default grey filtered icons when disabled. Also, you can't just subclass JUNavigationBar either since most of what you need is private. We took the brute force approach and just copied the JUNaviationBar source and modified it.
Basically, just create a new class with the same source as JUNavigationBar and replace the private icon filename strings to your icon file names:

When trying to save attachments in emails, 'save button' no longer working

Anyone else having this problem? Used to be that when I clicked on the "Save" button in my email windows, an icon would flash in my dock indicating my attachment had been saved to the desktop. Now when I click on the same buttons, nothing happens at all. Any ideas?

I don't recall seeing anything to indicate a Save has taken place, in Leopard at least. Have you looked in the Mail Downloads folder to see if they might actually have been saved? In Leopard and Mail 3.x, a quick click on the Save button would be expected to simply save all attachments on the message to the Mail Downloads folder. A click and brief hold will bring up a contextual menu with choices allowing you to Save All or select certain files, and will enable targeting other folders.
The Mail Downloads folder, btw, is found at Home/Library/Mail Downloads.

After Mavericks upgrade Mail 7 not automatically fetching new emails

Since the Mavericks upgrade, Mail is not anymore automatically fetching new emails, but at the initial lauch.
I tried to modifity the settings, from 'Automatic', to 5 minute, to 15 minutes, stopping Mail and starting again each time but it does not help.
Emails are fetched only after the lauch of Mail, and when I manually ask Mail to do it.
It's really annoying.
I saw on French forums, that I'm not the only user reporting this, but I don't see many posts on the Apple forum with the exact same issue.
I don't know what to do to fix/find a workround for this problem.
If someone has any idea, I'm more than open to try it.

Set default filename for file save dialog on Save button click

I am using AxAcroPDF (version 9.0) control to view pdf files in windows forms (C#). The pdf loads into the viewer in the form. Now, when I click on the Save button in the viewer, a Save dialog pops up with a default filename having complete path info.
If I have loaded the pdf file into AxAcroPDF viewer with filename:
"C:\Documents and Settings\KB_Kravi\My Documents\CustomerList.pdf"
then in the save dialog, the default filename will be:
"C_Documents_and_Settings_KB_Kravi_My Documents_CustomerList.pdf"
Is there any option to set the default filename in the save dialog to some short name, instead of this lengthy name?

I create a Javascript and upload the into style library site portal. After that add in a new content editor web part with (/sites/ESH/Style%20Library/submit.js). When i stop editing and go back to the new form, the button still remain as save without changing
to submit and on top of the form appear the /sites/ESH/Style%20Library/submit.js.
Any wrong on the editing part.

Please let me know , How we can reinstall apple mail ? .
1 . We updated OS to mavericks few machine in last december and still does't works SMTP (Out going mail) on those MAC.
2. After that most recently we updated OS to mavericks few machine those are working will with SMTP server .
a)Not showing any SMTP connection in TCP trace ,
b) Connection docter every time Says "Connecting to the server "
3, Then we have installed thunderberd (another mail) client on maverick os, which OS related to apple mail client not woking . It seems other mail client is working well with SMTP server .
