Save editable form into regular PDF document using Acrobat Reader

Hello,
With Adobe Pro, I've created a PDF form using the following:
Save As Other...
Reader Extended PDF
Enable More Tools (includes form fill-in & save)...
Once saved, I am sending this form to colleagues for them to fill out.  These colleagues only have access to Acrobat Reader.
What I'm hoping to do is to have them save the file into a regular PDF document with the info inserted in the form but without the option to change the form info (change from editable form to regular PDF file).
Thanks for your help.

Hrm, OK. Well I actually DON'T have my document set as a reader extended PDF. If i fill out my fields then try to use the sign feature, it's not flattening the fields when I save/close reopen. They are still editable.
Just as a test, I saved it as reader extended and the sign feature is grayed out as you stated it should be. I am using acrobat X to create my fields and using reader XI to test inputting data/saving.
I need users to be able to fill it out, save then send and the recipient NOT be able to modify the fields. Am I missing something with the sign feature?
Thanks again for the reply!

  • Error opening DRM PDF document using Acrobat Reader

I am having problem opening a DRM PDF document using Acrobat Reader. When I open the document I get a message if I want want to connect to xx.xxxxx.xx server (Allow / Disallow), I click Allow then I get this error message without prompting me for the login box.
"An error occurred while performing this operation. Contact an administrator if this problem continues."
What is strange is that when I open the document using Acrobat Professional then there is no error and I get login box.
I tried this in Acrobat 8 and 9 Reader with latest updates.
    Please help.

The problem is the enhanced security, turned on by default, in Adobe 8.2 and 9.3 - specifically restrictions on cross domain scripting.
You need to install a crossdomain.xml file in the root of your application server.
See the Enhanced Security and Troubleshooting Guide and FAQ: http://learn.adobe.com/wiki/download/.../Enhanced_security_faq.pdf

  • Hello! I would like to know the procedure to turn a word document into a PDF document via Adobe Reader.

Hello! I would like to know the procedure to turn a word document into a PDF document via Adobe Reader. Do I have to pay for it or just sign up? Thank you in advance.

"...the procedure to turn a word document into a PDF document via Adobe Reader."
    Not possible.
No version of Adobe Reader can:
    --| create PDF
    --| manipulate PDF page content
    --| export PDF page content
Adobe Reader XI does provide a "connection" to various Adobe hosted online subscription services (that are under "acrobat.com").
There is a subscription services can create PDF from supported file formats that are uploaded to the service.
This subscription service is "PDF Pack".
With an active (paid up) subscription to a service one can make use of the service.
    Be well...

  • Annotate pdf documents using the reader plugin in the browser

Is it possible to annotate pdf documents using the reader plugin in the browser?

Sorry I do not have answers, and do not know details of the Mac/Adobe plugins problems.
Conspiracy theorists may wonder whether Adobe is constantly reviewing cost/benefit of supporting various OS s & Browsers.
    One may note
    * Flash Ubuntu development has effectively ceased, with all support ceasing in a few years http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplatform/whitepapers/roadmap.html
    * Firefox on Windows Flash11.3 et seq has had many problems, I certainly have not noticed Adobe rolling out rapid and successful fixes for those problems
    * and Android support was dropped http://blogs.adobe.com/flashplayer/2012/06/flash-player-and-android-update.html

  • Problem reopening and/or refreshing PDF files using Acrobat Reader V. 8.0

I upgraded to Adobe Acrobat Reader V. 8.0 and have encountered problems refreshing PDF files in the Safari 2.0.4 browser when I am logged into the secure area for Value Line Publishing. Some of the PDF Files in this area can be opened and/or refreshed multiple times. Other PDF files in this area allow me to open them once. I cannot reopen those previously viewed files (or refresh the screen) -- after refreshing, the window changes to a blank white screen, and the files do not reopen.
I am perplexed because I do not have difficulty refreshing the PDF files (within Safari) using the native PDF viewer, I did not have problems refreshing files using Acrobat Reader V. 7.0 and I do not appear to have problems refreshing PDF files using Acrobat Reader V. 8.0 when I am outside the secure area or on other web sites.
I have replaced the Acrobat Reader plug-in, manually removed all remnants of previous versions of Acrobat Reader and reinstalled V. 8.0. and I also upgraded from Mac OS 10.4.8 to 10.4 9, all to no avail.
I can clear the Safari cache files as a temporary solution, but I encounter the same difficulties with the “problematic” files once they have been opened again.
I can also download the PDF files to my hard drive and refresh them multiple times within Safari and also using Acrobat Reader V. 8.0
The software personnel at Value Line Publishing have investigated their system and have referred me back to Apple. Has anyone heard of similar problems associated with Adobe Acrobat Reader V. 8.0 used in conjunction with Safari 2.0.4?

    Hi Rodney
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
This sounds like one of those "oddities", contributed to by a few sources.
I can clear the Safari cache files as a temporary solution, but I encounter the same difficulties with the “problematic” files once they have been opened again.
Wondering if you disabled the Safari Cache would the refresh function work correctly? As a test you can disable the Safari Cache by Emptying the Cache first via the Safari menu, then Quit Safari. Now go to the Finder>Your User Library>Caches>Safari. Single click on the Safari folder, then Apple Key + I to open Info panel. There, check the "locked" box. This prevents further additions to the cache. The downside, you lose your ability to upload images etc. within Safari (my cache is disabled, so I use Firefox for the uploads).
Then restart Safari. Try the PDF from within Safari.

  • Can't view PDF files using Acrobat Reader X

We made many PDF files available on our Web site. In the past few weeks we noticed that users who were using Acrobat Reader X and Internet Explorer 8 or 9 were not able to view some PDF files. Basically, when they clicked a link to display a PDF file, the screen would be cleared and the status bar showing "Loading ...KB/...K/B" would be displayed. The status bar would move a bit and then got stuck. The PDF file would never be displayed. Sometimes, my users could click the Back button to go back the previous Web page and sometimes they had to close or kill the IE window. Small PDF files seemed to be fine. I was able to repeat this problem on PCs running Windows XP and Windows 7. I also tested clicking the same PDF files with PCs installed with Acrobat Reader 9 and I was not able to cause the problem to occur, so I am pretty sure that this problem is related to Acrobat Reader X. I also noticed that if I unchecked the "Display PDF in browser"  option in Acrobat Reader X so that PDF files would not be displayed inside the Internet Explorer window, I would be able to view all PDF files without any problems.
I also did an experiment by resaving many PDF files using Acrobat Pro (Reduce File Size...) to be compatible with Acrobat 8 or above. I was able to open these PDF files using Acrobat Reader X but when I used a PC with Acrobat 9, it would get stuck instead. Most of my PDF files were created a long time ago and we usually made it compatible with Acrobat 5 or above.
I saw that some people reported some problems with Acrobat Reader X but I did not see a solution except uninstalling Acrobat Reader X and installing an old version of Acrobat Reader instead. Anyone has any ideas why this is happening and how to fix this problem?
    RJ

Sounds like you got the trial of Acrobat. Go to add/remove programs, get rid of it, the download the free Reader from http://get.adobe.com/reader/

  • How can I make some restictions in a PDF document using Acrobat 9 pro?

Hello, I am a teacher from Spain. I am creating a PDF from a power point presentation, using Adobe Acrobat 9 pro. I will copy it in a cd and give it to my students. I would like to add these restrictions:
I would like to avoid that they can copy this document.
I only want to allow them to print it once.
    Thank you

You can prevent copying of content (text and images) by setting permissions on the PDF file using Acrobat (apply password security, leaving the document open password empty).
It is not possible to limit the number of times a PDF file is printed, no matter what settings you use. Printing can be disabled completely, or restricted to low-resolution output, but that is all. Even if it were somehow possible to restrict how many times Reader or Acrobat was allowed to print, there is no way to stop someone changing the copy number in the operating system print dialog, as that is beyond the control of any installed program. A printable PDF file can also be printed to another PDF file (called refrying), which will remove any interactive restrictions on the original.
Note that permissions security is only respected by Adobe software. Third-party applications will often ignore the restrictions and allow all operations. The only way to truly protect the file is to apply a security method which is only found in Adobe products (such as LiveCycle policies), which will as a side-effect prevent anyone from opening the file in a third-party application that might not respect the restrictions.

  • Issue with web links in PDF document using adobe reader 10.1.1

    Hi,
We are creating the PDF documents that contains website links. The problem that is occurring is whenever we click on the website links in the pdf file, it opens up IE browser but just show connecting message without actually showing the link and its content. This is ocuurring when we open the PDF using adobe reader 10.1.1 . However it seems to be working fine with Adobe reader 9 . Moreover the length of the URL is bit large and seems like links work fine when we have 253 characters in the URL and if they are more than that then it is not working.Since it is working fine in Adobe reader 9 is there any constraint imposed on the length of URL with adobe reader 10.1.1 . Anything regarding this will be of great help.

    Hi..
    Try removing a plugin...
    Quit Safari.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Move the Adobe PDF Browser plugin (or just PDF Browser plugin) from the Internet Plug-Ins folder to the Trash.
    Relaunch Safari to test.

  • How do I highlight a PDF document using Adobe Reader 8?

I frequently need to highlight text in PDF documents, such as user manuals, just for my own use.  When I looked up "highlighting text" in the Knowledge Base, I found the following statement:  "Commenting tools are available only in PDFs that have commenting enabled. PDFs in a review workflow typically include commenting rights."   Is this the reason why I have not been able to find the Highlight Text tool option in any of the documents?  Is there a workaround for this issue?

Thank you for your suggestion to search in Google.  I found a few truly free, not just free trial offers, PDF editors, which I will need to test to find the one that will work best for my purpose.  Thanks, again.

  • How to extract inline styles from a PDF document using Acrobat 9?

I have a requirement for extracting all the contents along with the para level and character level styles from a PDF document in the form of XML. While doing so I'm getting lot of additional tags. In addition to that I'm not able to find the inline tags (character level tags) like bold, italics, superscripts etc and the page numbers. It would of great help if someone can throw light on this.
    Thanks.

    Moved to Acrobat Forum.

Hi Pat, thanks for your reply.
Your reference to the title of that page being 'HARNESSES' indicates that, when you view that document in Adobe Reader, you are seeing 'HARNESSES', not
"ØßÎÒÛÍÍÛÍ".  And that the remainder of the document is similarly being displayed in readable English language.
Yes as you say, you can search for 'ß' and get hits on 'A' (to use that as an example) in the example document.
But the need to form a word to be searched for into whatever code mapping this is using (for example having to enter "ØßÎÒÛÍÍ" for HARNESSES - I'm not even sure how that would be entered from a keyboard) doesn't seem to be very convenient.
Its clear the example document is using some code mapping other than ASCII / Windows-1252 (which has 'A' as 0x41).  But it is also clear that Adobe Reader knows what that mapping is, and knows to use it, as its displaying (for example) 'A' for the code 0xDF.
So I guess the question is - why isn't Adobe Reader's knowledge of this mapping being extended to its search input?
