Save error or not?
Hi
Not sure if I have a problem or not.
If I open a page and then modify the css and apply the screen
changes to
reflect the modification.
If I then preview on my local testing server the change is
not shown unless
I save the cssfile first.
I was sure that this was not the case in the past ie It saved
automnatically.
Am I loosing the plot?

Project save error "Could not save could not parse then gobblygook
I had just finished training my wife on how to use STP and after a several hour project to create a fancy open for her radio program, the save project failed as "couldn't parse file then a bunch of gobblygook and strange charactors like it was code for about 6 lines. Could never back up enough in the project to save much of anything. I have never seen this in the many years I've used it. She has an intel Macbook.
Sounds like the account's Drafts mailbox has some corruption.
Assuming this is a POP type account, quit the Mail.app first and using the Finder go to Home > Library > Mail > this account named folder (named by the user name and incoming mail server for the account) > Drafts.mbox.
Delete the Drafts.mbox folder and empty the Trash.
When re-launching Mail, a new Drafts.mbox folder will be created automatically by Mail within the account named folder when composing the next message with the account and this should resolve the problem. -
Something very strange has been going on recently with FCP 6. If FCP is open and I repair disk permissions I have had an error message come up saying Auto Save error can not auto save your project. Then on both occassions clips have gone certain clips have gone offline in the Timeline. Most of the footage we use is on one internal drive and all graphics etc is on another internal drive. None of these are the system disk. Is this something to do with disk utility repairing the structure of the disk and breaking the connection of the clips and FCP? What could be the Auto Save issue?
Nick's dead on about doing any sort of drive maintainence while fcp is running. That said (after quitting fcp), you might run diskutility: disk repair and Diskwarrior (if you've got it) on all your drives. You may have some sort of drive corruption or immienent drive failure.
Diskwarrior is a utility that will analyze and repair drive folder structures that the diskutility sometimes can't. Worth every penny.

Premiere Pro Project Save Error
configuration: windows 7 64bit; Adobe Master Collection CS4; Windows Domain 2003; Mandatory roaming profile for student account. Students save work on a network share specific to their username (having full control of said folder).
issue: when opening an existing adobe premiere pro project, they can make changes, render, export etc. but when they click file->save it give an error:
Project Save Error
Could not open the project file with write access. The file may be locked or you may not have permission to write to this location. Select 'Save As' from the File menu to save the project to a new location.
If we do select the save as option, we can save the file to the same directory from which the original project was opened (with a different filename of course). I believe this might be an issue with a temporary / cache location premiere pro is using but I have been unsuccessful in finding any information on the temp locations and how it saves the working files.In general, PPro is not really designed for a multi-user setup... or for networking
PPro really runs best when the "owner" is the Administrator... which I don't think you can do for students
Maybe someone else will come along with other information (I am just a standalone user) but I've seen a LOT of similar messages, and don't remember any solution other than running as Administrator, with files on a local (not network) computer -
when I open a raw file (NEF Nikon 7100) and apply setting then click save, I get an error ( could not complete your request because of a program error ). Ideas?
Oh, dear.
If you use PSE as your external editor for iphoto, you need to save the images back to iphoto by using Save, not Save As and not changing anything like the name or format that would bring up the Save As window. (You may need to adjust the editor prefs>saving files>on first save to save over existing.)
OR you can export the photos from iphoto to the desktop, use file>open in the editor and then change whatever you want and either import the saved image to the organizer or import it back to iphoto as a new file. What you are doing is extremely risky, particularly to the iphoto library which you may easily damage by your workflow.
I would start the organizer holding down the shift key, then create a new catalog and switch to the new one. Then try opening the editor without opening an image and see if you get any farther.
PSE and iphoto are not designed to be used as you've been doing. You are trying to write to the iphoto library from outside iphoto, which is the fastest known way to corrupt the library and lose all your photos. -
I have adobe CS 5.1 and recently (after an update) it is giving me an error (Could not save...because of a program error) every time I try to save my work as a PDF> Help how can I get this resolved??
Run the cleaner, reinstall.
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
And don't bother with running any updates unless you really need them or they fix a critical issue relevant to your workflow.

Save for Web error: Could not complete operation
Hi everyone.
I'm having trouble using the Save For Web function on Photoshop CS6. The initial dialog opens fine and I can select any file type to save to etc.
Once I click 'Save...' I get the error "Could not complete this operation. An unknown operating system error has occurred."
I have looked up this error and from previous threads I have tried deleting the Save for Web library files and restarting, however this doesn't work (Unless I am deleting the wrong file?).
I'm running a 2.6 GHz Retina Macbook Pro with the latest update installed for Photoshop. I have 16 GB ram.
Strangely, I have a PC running the same version of Photoshop CS6 and it works fine for this function.
Any idea what this could be? I have posted my system info below.

1. Change permissions (as AOTPR says) to your User/Library/Preferences file so that your admin and user (the one you are using) has read + write permissions within the Get Info pane (command+I). You may have to add them with the sign.
2. Delete Adobe save for web 12.0 Prefs & Adobe save for web 13.0 Prefs files within the User/ Library/ Preferences folder. These may be hidden for some people, so when in a finder window, hold Option(alt) and click Go from the main top menu (keep holding Option/Alt) and click Library — the full Preferences folder should open for you.
3. Change the view when in Save for web pane in PS. If you have it in Cover Flow — it won't work. Change it to another view like List or Columns view.
Presto! Works for me on Maverick.
Thank god. It took forever to get this cleared up!!
If you have any questions, email me [email protected] -
I have recently purchased a new desktop under WIN 7 as well as Adobe Creative Suite CS6.
My first internal hard disk is 2 TB, the second one installed is from my old PC, 250 GB.
I am getting this error when trying to save a file over an existing file using the “Save” command.
The message is wrong, because the file name IS valid.
This error is persistent.
This error does not occur when doing the same action on my second internal hard disk.
This error happens on files larger than about 1MB in weight.
What happens is that the original file over which I try to do the ”Save” command gets corrupted and lost.
If I don't use the “Save as” command to save my work under a different name, my work is lost.
The same problem occurs with both PS CS6 versions, 64 Bit and 32 Bit.
I am very disappointed and annoyed with this happening.
Any idea what is going on here?ok ...
I think I have resolved this.
I forgot to mention that I have Sugarsync over that file structure.
However, I do not know if Sugarsync has anything to do with the error.
I copied the whole folder structure under a newly created folder, and I am no longer getting the error.
Thanks

FileDialog in SAVE mode does not throw file access error
Hi,
We are using FileDialog to SAVE and LOAD files.
If a file is selected to which the user has no access, then LOAD dialog throws an
error, but SAVE dialog does not.
Have I skipped something ??
Below is a sample code :
import java.util.*;
import java.awt.*;
import java.awt.event.*;
import javax.swing.*;
public class TestClass extends JFrame {
public TestClass() {
setSize(400, 400);
JPanel l_objPanel = new JPanel();
getContentPane().add(l_objPanel);
final JButton l_objButton = new JButton("FileOpen");
l_objPanel.add(l_objButton);
l_objButton.addActionListener(new ActionListener() {
public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent p_objEvent) {
FileDialog l_objDlg = new FileDialog(TestClass.this, "Save now", FileDialog.SAVE);
l_objDlg.show();
public static void main( String[] strArgs ) {
try {
UIManager.setLookAndFeel(UIManager.getSystemLookAndFeelClassName());
} catch(Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
TestClass l_objDlg = new TestClass();
l_objDlg.show();The bug you pointed out is pretty different: JWS should work offline if no network connection is available, but no such behaviour is provided, never the less granted, if your server is down. No matter what your 'web-distributed' app is (ASP, SaaS, SOA, RIA, cloud, ...), you may have it work without a network, but no architectural pattern would ever remotely consider it should run if the providing server is down (and is not redirecting or, at least, sending some 'manageble' error).

Failed to Save Document. and Not Supported. Error Message
Post Author: dscoiho
CA Forum: General
I am using Crystal 10 and SQL Server. I have ran into instances when I try to save a report with data or save as I get Failed to Save Document. and Not Supported. error messages. Does anyone have a clue on why this would be happening and is there a work around.Post Author: rhartness

Has anyone found the answer to this problem? I am experiencing the exact same issue today. This is quite frustrating! If anyone has a clue on how to fix this or how to prevent it from happening again please post a reply.
I'd hate to lose all of my work over the past hour (I couldn't imagine of loosing a days worth of work like the original poster stated) but if there is no fix, I understand. However, is there something that I could have done to cause this? If so, I want to avoid doing it in the future.
Thanks guys. -
CS4, Save PNG: "Could not complete your request. An error occurred."
Using Fireworks CS4 (v10.0.3.011), when I have been working on an image for a long time, with a long undo history list, if I attempt to save the image as a PNG, I receive an error "Could not complete your request. An error occurred."
I am on Windows XP SP3 (32-bit). This error typically occurs when page file usage is around 2.4GB.
If there is a limit to how much RAM/pagefile Fireworks can use, can a warning not be implemented?
eg. you are about to pass the point of no return, at which stage your document will become unsaveable.
Is there no way undo history can be purged while an image is open?
This would dramatically reduce RAM/pagefile usage and potentially make the image saveable again.My OS is 10.4.11. on 2 GHz Intel iMac.
I reread my orignial post and noticed a typo. I can save png's with PS "save for the web," but can't open those just-saved png files.
I did lots of things before I noticed that the png wasn't working. Don't know which may have caused a problem. Likely things? Well, I added a plugin for Ico. format. I deleted it because I thought it might have caused the conflict.
Assuming that was the problem, what can I do to restore the png file format?
I don't have disk warrior. I did run the maintenance utility yesterday. It runs crons, clears caches, deletes cookies, that kind of stuff.
I've never had a problem with it disabling plugins or causing any problems. Haven't run disk utility for a few weeks. Would that help?
I didn't download the replace png plugin from Adobe, but the original wasn't working anyway. I looked for a backup on the exernal drive, didn't find one, and downloaded another.
Next, I did a Photoshop reinstall thinking that might fix the problem, but it didn't. Which plugin folder should the png plugin be place in. I've never been sure why there are two format folders; the folder in plugins, and the folder in Photoshop only. -
Error "document not saved" when want to save Word/Excel files on NAS server
Hello everybody!
I have a NAS server (QNAP storage).I want to have some folders with these permissions :
1.nobody can create or delete folders in first parent folders (blue folder and red folders )
2.everybody can create/save folders,docs... in it. (Black folders)
when I set permission like picture below,people can not save documents in Excel or Word format in folders ( I have this problem just for Word and Excel).they face with errors : document not saved / access denied,contact your administrator.
special permission for blue folder (domain users)
(include inheritable permission) and (replace all child subfolders...) are unchecked.
traverse / execute files
List folders/ read data
Read attribiutes
Read extended attribiutes
Read permission
special permission for red folder :
(include inheritable permission) and (replace all child subfolders...) are unchecked.
traverse / execute files
List folders/ read data
Read attribiutes
Read extended attribiutes
create files / write data
create folders / append data
write attributes
write extended attributes
delete subfolders
delete
Read permission
special permission for black folder :
these folders inherit permissions from parents.
(include inheritable permission is checked.
(replace all child subfolders...) is unchecked.
when I uncheck "delete" permission in red folders and save it,"modify" permission in main permission will uncheck,too.I dont know why?in this situation,people can save docs, but they can rename/delete folders,too ( I dont want they delete
or rename parent folders).
what I must do?
regards,
atiye moghaddamHi.
How are the rights configured to be inherited? Could you do a "icacls <folder>" on each level and post it back.
Also worth considering is that this is a Linux Samba system, so it might not work as a regular windows system.

Error: could not save mail
Each time I am in the progress of writing an e-mail, and screen appears that says something to the effect of "Error: Could not save mail." I am not sure what the program is trying to do...is there an option menu I should go to to configure the save settings?
Thank you!Sounds like the account's Drafts mailbox has some corruption.

Close all windows and quit all applications.
Hold the option key down and click the "Go" menu in the Finder menubar.
Select "Library" from the dropdown, then "Preferences" folder.
Look for these three files.
