Save / export screen grab with in DVD pro

Hello
I noticed that somewhere within DVD pro you have the option to save/export the a frame from a track as an image file, tiff etc.
And now I can't find it, could somebody point me in the right direction?
thanks

this procedure is used to create pictures for backgrounds in menus from the video track:
- place the playhead on the frame you want in the track editor
- press M on keyboard to set a marker
- selected the marker to see the inspector
if you do not need the marker to be a chapter marker, deselect the chapter checkbox
- click on the Save Still button to save as a tiff

  • Screen Shot with Final Cut Pro???

does final cut have like a screen shot deal. what i am trying to do is take a screen shot or freeze a frame of video and make it a JPG. and i havent figured it out. am i calling it a different name than what it is. i have just started with Final cut. so i am a newbie

If you want a shot of your screen or even just a section of it, you can use Grab.
If you want to export a still frame of a video clip from FCP that you can use in other programs (Photoshop, etc), park the FCP playhead on the frame you want and then go to File->Export->Using QuickTime Conversion. Choose "Still Image" from the Format menu and then choose the file type from the Options menu.

  • Burned dvd does not screen right with different dvd players

    Aloha!
the problem have is the following.
I encoded all my edits via compressor. Created a DVD in Studio Pro 4 and checked that everything works right in the preview. It did.
As soon as I tested the dvd on different players(mostly cheap ones) I had a audio sync problem, which didn't come up when I used high quality players.
the second problem that occurred was the displaying of the clips themselves.
I encoded them as progressive files as I like the progressive look on my pictures.
But the effect doesn't show on screen, it does as soon as I play it with an computer, but doesn't on the regular TV set. The video footage with a graphical overlay from Motion displays the progressive mode for some reasons.
Anybody having an idea what I have done wrong?
Do I need to deinterlace my clips in FCP before I send them out with compressor? Thanks for your help!

    Welcome to the forums, Sepp.
As soon as I tested the dvd on different players(mostly cheap ones) I had a audio sync problem...
...and that problem was? Was it out of sync from the beginning? Did it gradually go out of sync? Was it off by seconds or milliseconds? A better description here will be helpful. Also, are you using uncompressed audio or Dolby Digital?
I encoded them as progressive files as I like the progressive look on my pictures.
Check the Compressor 2 help file (p. 195-196 or so) where it talks about frame controls. This will allow you to convert your interlaced footage to progressive, and will do a better job of it than just applying a deinterlace filter. I think you'd also want to convert to 24p so you can get all the benefits of progressiv encoding.

  • How extra screen working with cover MB Pro closed

    I have a MacBook Pro a1229 17" running 10.6.8 ,
Extra screen : Apple Cinema HD Display 23" ,
wenn i close the cover from the powerbook , the extra screen is also going to sleep .
    How to override this ?
    Thanks ,
    Bob ,

    Hello Roborny,
Based on your post it seems you would like to use your MacBook Pro while closed, and connected to a secondary display. I have linked to an article which provides the conditions that need to be met for closed clamshell usage:
Mac OS X 10.6: Using your portable computer with the display closed
With some portable computers, you can use your computer with the display closed. For example, you might want to close your computer’s display when using it to give a presentation on an external monitor connected to your computer.
To use the computer with the display closed, you must connect it to an external display, keyboard, and mouse. The power adapter must be plugged into the computer and into a power outlet.
You can also use a wireless (Bluetooth) keyboard and mouse. Make sure to select “Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer” in Bluetooth preferences. Click the Advanced button in the lower-right corner to access this option.
To operate your portable computer with an external monitor attached and the display closed:
Connect a Universal Serial Bus (USB) keyboard and mouse to your computer.
Connect the power adapter to the computer and a power outlet.
Close the portable display to put the computer to sleep.
Connect your computer to an external display.
Wait a few seconds and then press any key on the external keyboard to wake the computer.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.

  • Can I use a touch screen monitor with my macbook pro?

I am doing a lot of photo organization and thought it would be easier if I had a touch screen monitor attached to my macbook pro.  Has anyone tried this and if so, what brand did you use.
    Thanks
    Bob

All a touchscreen is going to do is replace your mouse or trackpad, you can't use two hands at once to gain any speed advantage organizing photo's.
Also it would have to be a pretty big touch screen, place your two hands over a 17" screen and most of the screen is blocked.
If you need something like that, talk to Microsoft, they have a "Big @ss table" that does that.

  • Help with Workflow FCP to Compressor then DVD Pro and Shaky footage

Hi, I am new to using a MAC and also to Final Cut Studio so if this question has been asked before or seems obvious then I offer my apologies.
I have a clip on the timeline which is a little shaky but I need to use it. I have added a SmoothCam filter and when I playback in FCP all seems OK however after sending to Compressor then eventually to DVD Pro the clip shows as being shaky again, almost as if the filter had been deleted in the Compressor. Could someone perhaps talk me through the correct workflow I should be using and maybe suggest where I am going wrong please. As I said this is my first attempt to author a DVD with FCP on my MAC.
The footage was captured on my Panasonic Home camcorder. The settings in my camera were set at 1920 x 1080 HG mode for High Definition.
In my camera user guide it refers to the images being based upon the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 codec so should I have set something similar when capturing into FCP.
    Any advice would be welcomed.
    Regards
    Fred

Hi Mike I tried everything to try and resolve this one, I tried all combinations of field dominance. I also followed the recommendations from the Apple help to use the intermediate codec (search under AVCHD in the Help files) If I get anywhere I will mail you

PS I had some advice from another forum group who said to try and export a Quicktime movie into DVD Pro and not to send to Compressor, I will try that later and see if that helps.

  • Final Cut Pro X Exporting to Youtube with Canon 5D Mark ii

    Hi,
I'm having problems exporting to Youtube with Final Cut Pro X. i convert the file and upload, but the audio is not syncing properly. The video is fine. Any tips on what to do? I'm using a Canon 5 D Mark ii. 24fps, 1080
Also does anyone know where the audio setting are on FCPX?
    Thanks

    Hi aussiearn
The process you suggested worked beautifully: images clear and true sound accurate.
I have over 100 30 to 60-minute videos to put on a client's YouTube channel. Using the YouTube settings in Compressor my first uploads colours were looking washed out, and the audio progressively slipped when played via the Safari browser. Your advice has fixed this issue, so thank you for taking the time to post.
To clarify what I understood your process to be for others who may wish to use it:
In FCPX choose 'Share' from the menu bar
    Select 'Export Media'
In the options presented: 'Export' should be set to 'Video and Audio'; 'Video codec' as H.264; 'Audio file format' will be greyed out but show Quicktime Movie; 'Open with' will show 'QuickTime Player.app (default)'. Click 'Next'.
You'll be presented with 'Save As' options. Name the file and select where you want it to go on your drive(s), and click 'Save'.
Export will begin: my 6.84GB video, which was 45-minutes of 1920 x 1080 at 23.98fps, took about 35 minutes using a Macbook Pro 2.2 Ghz Intel Core i7 with 8 GB of RAM
When the export is complete the video should automatically open in QuickTime.
Within QuickTime go to 'File' on the menu bar and choose 'Export for Web', which is at the bottom of the drop-down menu
You'll be presented with a box that says 'Export versions of your movie optimized for web-delivery to iPhone and the desktop'. Pick what you want to name the file in the 'Export as' and then where you want it to go in 'Where' (obviously enough). You can save in three versions for different contexts, but I chose only to save as 'Broadband', with the best quality as YouTube will automatically create different versions later. Click 'Export'.
An 'Export Progress' box should appear. My file took around 45-minutes to process.
At the end of the process you will find a folder with your chosen name, rather than a file. Click on tha folder, then click on the 'Resources' Folder you will find in side. Amongst other files you'll find a .m4v file with 'broadband' at the end of the name. Rename the file and change the suffix '.m4v' to '.mp4' and upload to YouTube.
As you said this seems to save a lot of time compared to compressor (perhaps half the time?) The file that began the process at 6.84 GB ended as 1.16 GB, and looks and sounds great.
    Thank you,
    Nigel

  • Automated Screen Grabs in Premiere and Media Encoder

I need to make screen grabs from a premiere pro movie that I am editing.  I was able to set up a preset in media encoder that will give me the format of images that I need.  What I can't figure out how to do is how to get media encoder to give me a certain amount of images per second.  The only thing that I can get it to do is make an image for every frame of the movie.  Final cut would let you program the auto scene grab function to (for instance) give you one image for every 2 seconds of the entire movie.  Any thoughts????

I'm having similar problems. I can't export anything now...either from Premiere or from Media Encoder. My sequence is ProRes HQ, I am exporting using sequence settings.
It gets about 75% of the way through and bails with this error message:
    Export Error
    Error compiling movie.
    Unknown error.
That's really helpful. Addtionally, when I tried to export out of Media Encoder, I was greeted by an extremely loud bleating goat noise when it failed. Nice. I had a room full of clients. Thanks Adobe.
I'm seriously doubting the claim of "Pro" at this point.
This was not beta tested with a ****.

  • QuickTime - Save Export Settings -  script help needed

Currently I am using Panther 10.3.9 - with QT PRO 7.02 - ( I do not want to
upgrade to Tiger at this time unfortunately)...
    * MY GOAL: to be able to save export preferences in QuickTime pro.
Since QuickTime does not seem to be able to save export presets... I
downloaded the the script collection from
    From: Scriptable Applications: Quicktime Player
    Location: http://www.apple.com/applescript/quicktime/
and created export settings and tried ....
    Save Export Settings.scpt
... but the file that got saved will not open in QT PRO - OSX and wants to
    open something from old os9....
    what do I do?

    = = = (see scripts below)
    * here is my basic workflow ...
    - load a QuickTime movie
    - adjust the QuickTime movie export settings
    - save a test copy ( validating the settings)
    - run the "save export settings.scpt" with name "set1test"
    Then
    - open and run the "Export QuickTime movie.scpt" with the name " test movie"
    - run the new test movie - and when I check info - it does NOT reflect the desired settings...
    = = =
One issue is - this line...
export movie 1 to new_file as QuickTime movie using settings "set1test"
... It doesn't seem to care what the settings file name is - and if I change that name to a nonexistent name - it still exports the movie without an error.... Therefore it leads me to believe that it's not using it to begin with....
    - another issue is that the settings file "set1test" says it is the kind = "QuickTime settings document" - however it has a blank icon in the Finder - and there does not seem to be any way to open the file with QuickTime 7.02 - and it can to open something classic mode when I double click on it.
    = = = the Save settings script...
    tell application "QuickTime Player"
    activate
    try
if not (exists movie 1) then error "No movies are open."
    stop every movie
set the target_file to choose file name with prompt "name & location for the QT settings file:"
save export settings movie 1 for QuickTime movie to target_file with replacing
    end try
    end tell
    === the Export QuickTime movie.scpt
    tell application "QuickTime Player"
    activate
    try
if not (exists movie 1) then error "No movies are open."
    stop every movie
    set the movie_name to "mytest.mov"
if (can export movie 1 as QuickTime movie) is true then
    set the new_file to ¬
choose file name with prompt "Enter a name:" default name movie_name
export movie 1 to new_file as QuickTime movie using settings "set1test"
    end if
    end try
    end tell

  • FCP Audio is Quiet when exported to iphone or used with DVD Pro

I recorded a voice over with an external mic through a pre-amp into STP, boosted the db level of the recording in STP with the master gain on a channel EQ effect and exported it out as an AIFF file. I imported the AIFF into FCP, put it under video and adjusted the audio levels so the peak db is between -12 and -6 - everything sounds great from the canvas. I then exported the entire video to m4v to be played on an iphone and .mov (through QT not Compressor) to be burned with DVD Pro.
The audio on the DVD works fine in my mac computer and even works fine via blue tooth to my car stereo (using my iphone), but the audio is either quiet or slightly distorted (sometimes sounds like it's underwater) when played in a regular console DVD player or played on my iphone's speakers.
Here is what I have done so far - the STP audio is 48 hz 24 bit and I originally had my FCP sequence settings at 16 bit. I switched this to 24 bit midstream in FCP - is this an issue? Otherwise - I have tried a bunch of stuff, e.g. power line hum is negative in STP and there is very little underlying noise in the original recording based on analyzing with the Noise Reduction in STP.
Has anyone dealt with this issue or aware of a db/audio compatibility problem between STP and FCP or an export problem with FCP in this situation? Please let me know if anyone has any information or solutions. Thank you.

My export out of STP is 6 tracks - including a submix and a master - but I don't even use those (I'm not a seasoned user on STP - I basically exported them by mistake). I end up deleting 4 tracks (the submix and blank master) and keeping the stereo channel that I directly recorded.
However, by way of background, I had this same issue using a Garageband AIF file. It was too quiet and garbled upon export from FCP as well. That is why I switched to STP to use its better EQ/gain boosters. Please advise with any thoughts. Thanks.
