Save file formats

hello every one,
Can any one tell me how to save excel sheets or any other file format by clicking on a button in flex 3.
Thanks in advance.

The first two, yes. For Compiled Help, the third, I'm sure you know that the files have to be compiled, so no, and I don't think the source files for compilation are a direct export either, unless you can follow an XML path. Although the popularity of CHM is way down from a number of years ago because HTML is more portable, but that's a different issue.
If I were you, I'd look at MIF2go, a Frame add on that does support export to all these formats, and a number of others.
InDesign doesn't do this either...
Just as a word of unasked for advice, choosing your authoring platform by what it can output is a back-asswords way to choose a tool. Find the tool that suits the way you create documents the best so you get more required features to create your stuff quicker and easier.
Both the tools you mention and most other modern ones do pretty open-ended output, either directly or through filters or conversion utilities... there are always ways to massage output to a different format. So output is certainly a consideration, but it's a relatively minor one.
As for input tools, you're comparing apples and oranges with FM and ID. FM excels at book style documents with multiple chapters or files that share common layout characteristics. InDesign excels at shorter documents that are usually design-driven, that require hands-on layout tweaking, and it can't do multiple file management.

How to force the Preview utility to use JPG as the default format on the Save operation?
    Currently it uses PNG.

    I don't think that's possible.

  • Save file formating

Firstly I would like to ask if there is any way to get edge to format the saved html documents, javasript, or PHP files to look like they do in editor rather than everything on one line when I open it in notepad or gtext editor. E.G. I want the documents created in edge to have the proper indentation, line spacing etc. outside of edge so that those who work on them without this editor will be able to read them properly.  Is this possible with the current state of edge? If not then this question goes to developers of edge. Can you please add this as a default functionality? It not setting them up this way

It sounds like what you're seeing is a problem with line endings.  The way line endings (newlines) are stored in a text file varies by OS.  Notepad, and a few other simple text editors, are only able to deal with the way Windows stores line endings.  Most editors, including Edge Code, can correctly understand line endings from any platform (Windows style or Mac/Linux style).  That explains the display difference.
If you want to convert a file from Mac/Linux line endings to Windows line endings, there are various utility programs available that will let you do that, such as unix2dos.  Or you can write a little script file to make your own utility.

  • File Format options not appearing in the Save As dialog box - InDesign CC

So i was working with a legacy file (an .eps from illustrator4) that i placed into InDesign CC, and when i went to export as a jpg, the option to choose a different file format from the bottom of the dialog box was gone. Did i hit some crazy shortcut to remove the options, or is this a bug that occurs when working with certain legacy files? I've restarted InDesign, rebooted my laptop, deleted my Adobe preferences, reset my adobe warning dialogs, and I still cant export or save as any other file format because the option doesnt appear. And it doesnt matter if i create a new file or open an existing one. Please help. See the pic below. No option for file format on the bottom of the dialog box.

    Thank you very much!
Reinstalling worked, but i'd still kinda like to know what caused this problem & if this will continue to happen. To me, reinstalling is pretty much like having to reboot anytime you go to IT -- they dont know what the problem is, they just know how to fix/stop it.

  • Duplicate File Format options in Save As Dialog

I am getting duplicate file format options in my save as dialog. I am running photoshop 12.0.1 on mac os x 10.6.4.

Thanks for the answer, I have the same problem, happened after I uninstalled CS4, (using cs5 now) however I can't seem to find where the duplicates are located. Any tips as to where I should look?
    Thanks in advance!

  • HOW TO OPEN AND SAVE FILES TO/FOR MS-WORD 2007 .docx format

MS-Office 2007 will open .docx files as well as .doc files. Apple's Pages '08 can OPEN MS Word 2007 documents with the new file format ".docx". Pages '08 can not save as ".docx" files, just ".doc" files, but since MS Office 2007 can open these ".doc" without a problem, you should be covered.
    Here is how.
To open: Just double click the file and Apple's Pages '08 will import the file and open it for you to use and modify.
To save and use at your work or school's Windows MS Word 2007: When you are done and ready to save the file, go to FILE in the menu bar in Pages '08 and select EXPORT. Then pick the icon DOC WORD and click NEXT. Then in the SAVE AS box, give it a name and tell where you want to save your file to. Click EXPORT. Export is like Save, as it will now save the file where you told it to save it to. Remember you can use the same name, or give it a new name. Thats it. EASY.
It will save the file in a Windows Word format of ".doc" that MS Word 2007 can open and use.
    Hope this helps people.

Why yes. How did you know that I saw the way, the truth and the light?
I just had so many people ask me how to do this, that I thought I might share it with as many people as I could and help the masses To bad that Apple just did not have it as a simple "Save As:" Maybe in the next update.

  • I would like to know how i can save an byte array to a mat file format (matlab file format '*.mat') within to use the matlab API

So, I search the binary matlab file format('*.mat').

    Title:
Moving Data Between MATLAB® and LabVIEW
    Problem:
How can I share data between LabVIEW and the MATLAB environment?
    Solution:
MATLAB users can move data between the
MATLAB environment and LabVIEW, you have several options. Prior to
LabVIEW 5.1, the only way to transfer data between these two
environments was to use the Save and Load functions. Those are discussed herein.
    Beginning
in LabVIEW 8.0, MathScipt was introduced. MathScript is an integrated
part of LabVIEW that you can use to combine intuitive graphical
dataflow programming with math-oriented textual programming. See the
attached links below for more information on MathScript.
    Beginning
in LabVIEW 5.1, the MATLAB script node was introduced into the LabVIEW
programming environment. The MATLAB script node makes ActiveX calls to
the MATLAB software from within LabVIEW. This requires that both MATLAB
be installed on the same machine and that a valid license is obtained.
More information on the MATLAB script node can be found in the attached
    KB's.
For all versions of LabVIEW, this data transfer can be
performed by saving the data in a file using the MATLAB software and
reading it directly from LabVIEW, or vice versa. In the MATLAB
environment, the command "save" allows you to save the data in
binary format (*.mat) or ASCII format. You also have an option of
saving it in ASCII format using a tab delimiter between data points and
the command "load" allows you to read in the data.
    ASCII Format
Complete the following steps to import or export data between LabVIEW and the MATLAB environment using an ASCII file format.
From the MATLAB environment to LabVIEW
To save a vector or a matrix X in tab-delimited ASCII format, enter the following in the command window or m-script file in the MATLAB environment:
    >>SAVE filename X -ascii -double -tabs
This creates a file named filename containing data X in tab-delimited ASCII format.
Import the file into LabVIEW using the Read From Spreadsheet File VI located on the Functions»File I/O palette.
From LabVIEW to the MATLAB environment
To export a matrix X from LabVIEW to the MATLAB environment, first save the data in ASCII format in LabVIEW using the Write To Spreadsheet File VI on the Functions » File I/O palette.
Enter the following in the command window of the MATLAB environment, or in the m-script file:
    >> LOAD filename
This reads the data into the MATLAB environment.
    Binary Format
Complete the following steps to import or export data between LabVIEW and the MATLAB environment.
From the MATLAB environment to LabVIEW
As mentioned above, LabVIEW does not save multiple variables to one
data with extra manipulation, and will not be discussed here.
Therefore, the only way of sending the data from the MATLAB environment
to LabVIEW without tampering with the MAT binary file structure is
using the ASCII format. Also, please bear in mind that you need to have
    one file for one variable.
From LabVIEW to the MATLAB environment
    Because
the MATLAB software saves data in its own binary format, the "MAT"
file, binary LabVIEW data must be converted to this format prior to
transferring the data. The attached examples can be used to save
LabVIEW data in the MATLAB software format. The convenience of the .MAT
file format is that more than one variable can be saved in the same
file. The example shows saving seven variables to .MAT format; the
example can be modified for any number of variables.
Once this data is saved from LabVIEW, it can be read into the MATLAB environment, using the following command:
    >>LOAD filename
    The Who
command can then be used to display all the seven variable names, and
you can display the content of them by entering the variable names at
    the command prompt as usual.

  • What is the next step after editing or triming a video ? What type of file format to save and what to do after that ?

what is the next step after editing or triming a video?
what type of file format should be save and what to do after that?

In the early days of digital video editing, an export render could take hours!  Not many applications are as hard on system resources as video editing, and rendering the final edit is probably the most system intense action of all.
Head on over to the Premiere Pro Hardware forum to see what sort of computer hardware the pros use for NLE (non linear editing), or to the PPBM5 site for a better look.

  • Save As dialog issues: won't choose file format

The file formats seem to be all jumbled in the Save As dialog box. If I choose TIFF, I get EPS files. If I choose JPEG, I get .CFM files, etc.

You're on MacOS, and you either copied plugins from a previous version of Photoshop, or set the additional plugins preference to point to a previous version of Photoshop.
Go remove the plugins you copied, or turn off that preference.
You should not try to use all the plugins from a previous version of Photoshop.
Now, the bug comes about because the menu in the save dialog doesn't like to show duplicate items (which would happen because you have duplicate plugins), and we're working on that problem.
But you need to go fix the duplicate plugins first.

  • Save as file format CSV in Excel

Does anyone know the correct syntax on this one?
I have an excel file which should be saved as CSV.
This is what I came up with, but it doesn't run.
    tell application "Microsoft Excel"
    activate worksheet "worksheet1"
set fileSaveName to get save as file format CSV file format filename
    save as filename fileSaveName
if fileSaveName is not "" then
display dialog "Save as " & fileSaveName
    end if
    end tell

It's not surprising it doesn't run but that's not entirely your fault. Excel has pone of the funkiest dictionaries around - I think they forgot to read the AppleScript Implementor's guide and instead tried to bolt VB on instead.
    Anyway, I digress...
I'm not sure what you expect this line to do:
set fileSaveName to get save as file format CSV file format filename
but it's completely invalid. For one, save as is a command verb, not a function, so you cannot get save as.
If you read the dictionary for Excel's save as command you'll find:
    save as sheet ¬
    filename unicode text ¬
    file format as ¬
    password unicode text ¬
write reservation password unicode text ¬
    read only recommended boolean ¬
    create backup boolean ¬
add to most recently used list boolean ¬
    overwrite boolean ¬
    save as local language boolean
so the first, required, parameter is the sheet to save followed by any number of the optional parameters. Given the above, I'd expect your script to look more like:
    tell application "Microsoft Excel"
save as worksheet "worksheet1" file format CSV file format filename "whatever.csv"
    end tell
which is completely bass-ackwards, if you ask me, but that's how it goes.

  • Reduce the number of File Formats in Save As list

How do I permanently remove unwanted file formats from the "save as" file format list?

This has been asked before and as far as I know it can't be done.

  • Deactivate file formats in Save As menu

    Hello,
where can I find the adobe program files e.g. for the Targa format (*.tga, ...)?
I want to deactivate/hide these formats from the Save As menu.
    Thanks
    Carlos

    Sorry for my delayed response.
I did not copy any plugins from an older version to CS5.
Once again, it is not possible to deactivate specific file formats as it was possible in former versions?
E.g. I do not need Targa:
My most preferred file format is TIF (for Photoshop files with layers, too). But typing "t" to select the TIF format it selects first Targa. So I have to type "t" a second time -- and yes, I am doing this several times each day and want to hide unneeded formats

  • File Format Plugin - "Save As" vs "Save"....

I have a format plugin that I would like to have triggered with File->SAVE.
With only one layer in the document, Ctrl-S (Save) *does* call my plugin. So far so good.
BUT if the document has more than one layer, then Ctrl-S pops up a dialog, with .PSD as the default file type. i.e., "Save" behaves like "Save As". Thats not what I want.
Lets say that my own file format plugin can handle multiple layers.
Any ideas on how I can get "Save" to save, without popping up a dialog each time? I looked through the documentation, for a way to specify my custom file format as a multi-layer file format. No luck. Any clues are appreciated.
    Thanks.

Might You have set »Append File Extension« to »Never« in Preferences - File Handling by any Chance?

  • Change default format in "save as" file format window

I month ago I asked the following question...
"How do I change the file format order that is listed in the "save as" file format window? Instead of having "Photoshop" listed as the default file, I'd like to have JPEG at the top, then TIFF, PSD, etc. I have to constantly scroll down the list to find JPEG."
Recently while selecting JPEG in the "save as" format window, I accidently selected "Large Document Format" while holding down either "control", "option", "apple key", or "shift", or a combination of keys. Now the default format in the format window is "Large Document Format" (ext.PSB). I've changed the default from "Photoshop" which is still listed at the top, to "Large Document Format". I'd like to change the default to "JPEG" but I cannot replicate the correct key(s) to change the default format in the window.

    Hello TomGroup...
I did not receive a satisfactory answer to the question. Yes, you can go
into the Scripts but that is for experts and it is too much work.

    Any updates on this issue?
I have a similar situation in that no matter what I'm working on, when I
click "Save As' then the default format option is always .tiff    If I save
as jpg and then go onto my next file, the default is still tiff again when I
try to save  No matter what I try, tiff is also my default selection.  It's
just one of those things that takes a mere 5 seconds to click the dropdown
and select .jpg, but 5 seconds times a couple hundred files per day...it
    adds up.

  • AI CS3 Plugin: How to get the file format that is selected in the "save as" dialog??

    Hi,
Someone please help me in getting the file format that is selected in the "save as" dialog. I wanted to retrieve it in the string format.
I tried sAIDocument->GetDocumentFileFormat. But i'm unable to implement it correctly. Is there a better way or How do I implement this? Precisely, I wanna get the value as a string when the user selects "save as .pdf".

Do you really need to know the file type? What about just checking the bit depth?
    var doc = activeDocument;
    if (doc.bitsPerChannel != BitsPerChannelType.EIGHT) {//Not 8 bit
    doc.bitsPerChannel = BitsPerChannelType.EIGHT;
    //do your save etc
    }else{
        //Ignore
