Save images and see their preview

OS 10.4.11. CS4. Since working in CS4 I can no longer save in Photoshop format, and achieve images that will be seen by Preview in the column view. Previous images saved in CS2 show fine. Images saved as TIFF or as a PDF will show. I am an illustrator and use a lot of layers, curiously if i tale away any layers that fill the whole image leaving just floating elements then I can save in Photosave format.

I can save psd files but they do not show in Preview.
In Preferences Maximize PSD compatibility is set for always.
Have tried trashing Photoshop preferences many times. Re-installed all of CS4 3 times. Clean installation of OS 10.4.11 twice. Use Onyx regularly.
I can save psd files and see their preview but only if the file does not contain a layer that fills the whole image area.
For example; a racing car scene, the cars and spectators are on different layers, none fill the whole image. This I can save and see a Preview.
But if I put as a background a textured grey that does fill the whole image, I can save this file but I will be unable to see a Preview image.
If I save this same file as a tif I will be able to see the Preview.

  • Cant save images i see on the web

So when I see images  on the web  i cant save them. It just saves them as a HTTP file.  I tried to do some research but it doesnt   give  too much info. I right click and it just  says "save page as". I then thought it might just  be a face book thing,ANy suggestions??

    Try
    a) CTRL + click on the image and see if it shows either Open Image in new Window or Save Image As options
    b) Click on the image then drag & drop it onto your Desktop
If it's not an actual image file then neither of these methods will work ...

  • How do I save image and text as a single image in InDesign CS5.0?

How do I save an image and text as one image in InDesign CS5.0? NOT 5.5.
I need to save the image as a 72-dpi, jpg file for ePub purposes. I designed a book and am handing it off to someone for ePub.
    This is what I've tried:
    1) Copied from InDesign, pasted into a PhotoShop doc as a Smart Object. Saved it as 72 dpi jpg, then imported back into ID.
    2) Took a screenshot of ID page, placed it in PS, saved as 72 dpi, imported into ID
    3) Saved page as a PDF from InDesign, then saved PDF as 72 dpi jpg, then imported into ID.
    4) Save page as a PDF from InDesign, placed into Photoshop and saved
as 72 dpi, then imported into ID.
    5) Saved as an EPS from InDesign, placed in PS, then imported back to ID.
In all cases, the type looks terrible. It doesn't seem to matter whether I copy or place into Photoshop, though placing is slightly better.
    HELP!!!

In all cases, the type looks terrible. It doesn't seem to matter whether I copy or place into Photoshop, though placing is slightly better.
Naturally what you did will result in rasterized text. Did you preview with high quality settings?
Are you sure the people who will handle that downstream need pixel images and do you have the exact pixel dimensions needed?
Why did you place the image back in Indesign, by the way?

  • Overlap 2 Images and Make Their Positions Relative?

I need to essentially make a hotspot on an image that is another image.
I know how to make hotspots. I know how to overlap images. But I need the overlapping image's position to be relative to the image beneath it.
    How can I do this?
I have tried searching for Overlapping Images (answer: CSS)
I have also tried searching for Mapping Images to Images (no luck, just brings up info on mapping images, period)
I'm not sure what to search for to get this answer. That is why I am posting.
I am using Dreamweaver CS3. I am a total n00b but if you point me in the right direction I can figure out the rest with research.
Thank you in advance for your time.
PS- Please don't say, "Why not just merge the 2 images with an Imaging Program?" I need to do this with hundreds of images, AND I need the images available separately on my site. This would create hundreds of additional images that I need to upload.

Ignore this. I lost over half my post somehow. I'll try again. -.-

  • How can I save images and text data to the same file?

I have been looking at ways to do this for a while. My main VI saves the raw data to a text file which the users then import to Excel and plot. I am trying to simplify this process and have been looking at ways to accomplish this task. I want to be able to save the raw data to a file and then save the Labview graph as well. This will eliminate the tedious task of importing the raw data into Excel and plotting it. I can save the raw data to its own file and I can use the Get Image method for the graph and save it to its own file. I am currently using the .png format. Is there a way of saving both to the same file ie, importing the image into Excel or Word etc. Before I go off doing a science project I wanted to see if anyone else had experience completing this task and had any recommendations. Thanks in advance for any help.

well ther are a couple of ways. You could use the standard report generation VI's and make a complete report with the image of the graph embedded into the report with the raw data or you could use activeX and control excel thru LV and put the raw data into excel directly and have excel graph the data without any user interaction. I have posted a slew of VI's on the excel board if you do not have the report generation toolkit. If you could tell me which way you want to go I could possibly send you an example.
For more information and some sample VI's and tool kits, you can go to the excel board

  • Can't download RAW images and see them

I'm using Bridge 3.  When I download RAW images, all I get is the same amount of thumbnails that say CR2 (on a blue banner) on a page with a gray lens.  What's happening?

They're all blue with a flower motif.  Does this
information help narrow down the possibilities any?
It still indicates you have not the right ACR plug in for the file type of
Raw you are using or your install of ACR plug in is fault.
In PS check in menu Photoshop / about plug ins / Camera Raw. Inhere should
be only one version visible and it should say 4.6 in your case if you have
    installed that plug in correctly.
If this is correct check if your camera that produced the Raw files is
listed in the supported dSLR for that version. Check this link and if it
does not work for you (many links are country specific on the Adobe site) do
a Google search on:  " supported raw files for ACR 4.6"
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4033
If that camera is not in the list find the latest DNG converter (version
6.1, it is in the list on the Adobe site / support / updates and search for
    DNG)
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Maci
    ntosh
Use this converter to convert your files to DNG and try again.

  • Save Image in ACR 5.6 vs. Open/Save from Photoshop CS4

Apologies in advance if this turns out to be cockpit error. Recently started shooting again, after a long hiatus, and boy there have been some changes over the past few years. I feel like Rip Van Winkle.
Was used to early versions of ACR with CS2 and thought I was doing just fine finding my way around a new PC using ACR 5.6 RC with Photoshop CS4, when I processed my first shoot using the two. Followed my old/usual raw workflow with Photomechanic selects -> Bridge -> batch processing with Photoshop, when I noticed the JPEGs PS was saving from my PS Action didn't reflect adjustments I had set in ACR/Bridge.
The Action was pretty simple, just did an open, a few simple adjustments, profile/mode conversion, and a save as JPEG. I tried running the Action two different ways, once from Bridge and once directly in PS, and got the same result.
Scratching my head (this stuff used to work fine), I opened all the images into ACR from Bridge, clicked Select All, then clicked Save Images, and saved them as JPEGs into a folder. This worked, where each JPEG written reflected the crop, WB, exposure/brightness, contrast/black settings I had made through ACR/Bridge.
Any idea what I've overlooked? I tried this using both 32-bit and 64-bit PS. The PC is running Win7 RTM x64. The camera body is a Canon 7D, which is why I installed ACR 5.6 RC. I'm otherwise really tickled with everything. Nice to see the progress made by everyone in the industry while I was away. Thanks in advance...

If you are running an action during a Batch operation you need to be sure that either you DON'T record ad Open step and select Suppress File Open and Color Profile Warnings in which case the Camera Raw settings in play for a given image will be processed in or make sure you _DO_ record an open step making sure you select the correct workflow settings (color space, resolution, etc) but without making ANY adjustments while recording the open step and make sure you've selected the Override Action Open Command...
It's confusing until you understand what it is your are or not recording...
When you record a an open step while selecting the Workflow settings and NOT making any image adjustments all you are recording is the workflow settings. Then in Batch you tell the Batch to ignore the Open command and only use the Workflow settings...
Otherwise you don't actually need to record an explicit open step...you won't have any absolute control over what Workflow setting are in play-but since the Workflow settings are sticky you can open an image to double check the settings and click Done and then you've set the Workflow settings manually (not in an action).
The other oddity when recording an open action step in Photoshop is that the actual command to open must come from Photoshop...this may seem simple but it's not. I keep a spare raw file on the desktop so when recording an Open action I can start in Photoshop and turn on recording then drag & drop the raw file onto my Photoshop Icon to make sure Photoshop is opening the image then click to set the Workflow settings and specifically do NOT make any other image adjustment steps (they would also be recorded) and continue with the Open, then whatever other steps you need to add before recording the Save and Close steps (yeah, same tricky deal on the end with the Save As recorded and the Override Action Save As Commands...
If all of the above makes your eye's glaze over (the best time to learn how to do this stuff is NOT when you are under the gun or a deadline) I suggest you try using Image Processor...easier to set up and learn, not nearly as powerful as a Batch Action though...

  • Ok, about images and In-Browser editing (not working)?

I have created a site where I changed the corner radius on a image. In order for me to be able to drop in an image without having to re-adjust and position, I created a rectangle, adjusted the radius and then filled the rectangle with the image, set it to Original Size. It works perfectly in Muse. I can choose another image I have prepared and just drop it in with radius in tact.
This can't be done with In-Browser editing. I imagine that it is because it is a fill image and is within a "holder". Very sad about this as my clients can not change this picture via IBE.
Is there a work around where I can keep the radius?

You are correct, In-Browser Editing does not currently support editing fill or background images.
There are some cases where having a placed image with effects applied (e.g. rounded corners) will still allow In-Browser Editing to replace the image and keep the effects intact. For example: I placed the Muse logo on a page, set two rounded corners, and applied a 1px red stroke. When I preview, I can click/drag the image and see that the image itself is not rounded.
When I apply an inner glow to the image, all the effects are merged down into the image itself.
This is done because not all browsers support the effects and your design might suffer. Muse chooses to rasterize the image instead of relying on HTML/CSS for the effects. In-Browser Editing doesn't know about those effects and won't be able to apply them to new images that are uploaded.
As far as keeping the effects in place, but swapping out the image during design time in Muse, this can be done. Right click on the image and choose "Replace Image...". This keeps the effects applied to the image frame and replaces the image itself.

  • New "Save image" function (not the 2-button screen capture, different)

I found this while playing w/ Safari on my iPhone. I went to Flickr, saw a picture that a friend uploaded, and had my finger on it a bit too long- a dialog popped up that said "Save image" or "Cancel"- so, I hit save image, and the big (1024 x 685, 197 KB) was placed into my Camera Roll file.
Does the same thing on any website- you can open a large image, and download it, not just a small screen capture.
Makes really nice wallpaper. Sorry if this has been around awhile, I just happened to find it

This was added with 2.0 software

  • Visitors Editing and Deleting their Posted Information

Visitors to my website will be able to post information and upload photos.  At the same time I would like for them to be able to delete or edit their information.  Does anyone know how I would do this?
    Thank you.

Sorry for being so vague.  My website is go to function very similar to Craigslist.  So I want visitors to be able to log in and edit or delete their postings.  I'm not sure where to start.  I would like for visitors to sign in and see their postings so that they can edit and/or delete them.  I'm not sure where to start.  Do I have to create an edit/delete page? I used a tutorial before that taught me how to create a delete page but it was for administrators. http://www.adobe.com/devnet-archive/archive/dreamweaver/cs4/first_dynamic_site_pt3_05.html Would I follow this to allow visitors to edit/delete their posts?  If so, how do I modify this so that they can edit/delete their posts only?

Hi! I'm a Windows XP convert... switched to an imac about 4 months ago and am LOVIN' it As a graphics designer I did use a feature on my Windows machine which I really miss on my mac... beaing able to see a preview of one of the images in a folder on top of the folder icon. In other words, in Windows, you can see the first image that is inside the folder as an icon on the folder itself. Is there a way to do this on the mac? Maybe some software program that will do it? Thanks for you help!

It would be brilliant if Apple could make picture folders behave like events in iPhoto. You could see a photo on the folder, and also mouse over it to change pictures.
But no, there's not an application I'm aware of that does this. You can manually make a picture the folder icon, but it's a tedious process.
Unfortunately this is another example of how dated and worn out the Mac's interface is. The concept of using a file folder as the icon for a directory of images is so 80's. You could use coverflow, but that only helps once you're in the directory itself. Or use iPhoto or Aperture, although they just do photos. Or try Lyn as an alternative: it has a sort of iTunes-like interface, and makes it easy to organize photos without having to put them in iPhoto. And it can display photos that are already in Libraries.
But you'd probably need a Finder alternative. I use Leap, which displays any type of document. It also does tagging, which is another huge omission in the Finder. More like Windows Explorer (although still no photo on folder icons).
Another very stylish Finder alternative, especially useful for pictures, is FileBrowse. I don't know why it hasn't gotten more attention. It DOES put photo previews on the folders it shows. And allows one-click expansion to show the photo enlarged. It's super fast, and even allow you to group/sort by camera or flash! It really has to be seen to be appreciated. It works in Lion, although it doesn't seem to be have been updated lately. http://www.filebrowse.com/index.html

Apple Mail isn't going to change the format of any of your attachments. it isn't going to corrupt them either.
Exchange is a transport protocol and server. The issue you describe is not related to Exchange.
There are many different versions of Microsoft Outlook in use and they all have e-mail bugs. Different versions have different bugs. Some Apple Mail hack to get around a bug in Outlook 2003 may cause the same message to be problematic in Outlook 2000. Fix them both and another issue will cause trouble in Outlook 2007. You can't fix this. Apple can't fix this. Microsoft can and has but that is irrelevant if your recipients are using older versions.
One specific problem is that Apple Mail always sends image attachments inline, as images, not as iconized files. You can change this with Attachment Tamer. Just be aware that use of this software will break other things such as Stationery. E-mail is just a disaster. To date, no one outside of Apple has ever implemented the e-mail standards from 1993. Apple has continually changed its e-mail software to be more compatible with the de-facto standards that Netscape and Microsoft have unilaterally defined and people documented as "standards" after the fact. The e-mail messages that Apple Mail sends are 100% correct and do not violate any of the original standards from 1993 or the Microsoft/Netscape modifications. The problem is entirely bugs and limitations in various versions of Outlook.

The desktop image is fine, taken from the exact same pool of jpg photos.  However, as soon as the slide show screen saver comes on, the images are scrambled.  What is it about the apple screen saver algorithm that scrambles the pics?

  • Using applet to select a part of an image and then save it

    Hi ,
I want to use applet to select a part of an image and then save that particular selected part to a server. can anyone provide me a code for this. I have found codes on the sun site which help in uploading an image but I am having trouble in trying to select a part of the image.

Sorry to get back to you so late, but I was away from my computer this afternoon.
I'm not sure just what you are after. I do see that you have positioned the tree on the labels. I went to the web site for the label company, and their instructions are not too helplful.
    http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=15sBkl9OZE9xSkHoLMxgwjTFv2VCg1
I changed the white portion of 1 label to black - - this can be any color. To do this use the magic wand tool, tolerance=10 worked for me, then go to Edit>fill selection.
