'Save' in Adobe Reader

I've searched the forum and seen variations on this theme but can't find anything that addresses my problem.
When a user tries to Save their form in Reader, it will only save a blank copy.  This obviously has something to do with enabling usage rights, but I can't figure out what I'm supposed to do in Acrobat X Pro or LiveCycle ES2 v9.  I think it's also messing up other functionality as well.
Can somebody please assist because it's a problem I have on all my forms.
Thanks,
Peta

Hi Peta,
Have you installed the Adobe LiveCycle ES2 server ?
If yes, then you can login with the link below:

to apply the ReaderExtensions.
All the Best.

Is there a way I can use Standard so users can use digital signatures in Adobe Reader?

  • How to create form in LC to fill and save by Adobe Reader ?

    Hi there,
please advise me, how I should do form in LifeCycle. I would like to send by e-mail this form, and I would like to be able to open it, fill and save customers by use of the basic Adobe Reader.
Importantly, the recipient must be able to stop filling it in half and send it on, say, or return to it after a time. When it comes to functions in the same form it is about marked fields, enter text and add files (as attachments).
Do you have any ideas? Suggestions?
    Best regards,
    Piotr

You may want to go through this blog http://blogs.adobe.com/livecycle/2013/05/understanding-reader-extensions-licensing.html
Your usecase can be achieved by using calculations and scripts in LiveCycle Designer created form and using Reader Extensions but go through above blog for licesing as to which product is better for your usecase.

  • Cant save in adobe reader

I can receive emails from China in Adobe Reader through my email address.  I am able to save the emails and open them later to print them.  The problem I am having is that the adobe pdf from Mexico I am unable to save emails sent to me through adobe pdf coming from Mexico.  I can download and open pdf from Mexico but cannot save them.

If you're downloading the PDF, you ARE saving it. You can't do the first one without doing the other.
Perhaps you are OPENING it in the browser, but that isn't downloading it.
If the PDFs are attached to the emails, try right clicking on them and choosing Save As. Then you will have it saved BEFORE you open it.

  • Not possible to save from Adobe Reader

    Hi friends
    Hope you can help me.
I made a simple form using LiveCycle Designer ES2. When finished I saved normally as PDF.
When sending via e-mail or copying to another computer...I´m opening the PDF in Adobe Reader to test if it works. All the fields are ok (I used simple fields, no JavaScript).
But Adobe Reader shows a message that the current form cannot be saved. If I want I could print to have a filled copy of the form.
    What I´m missing?
How could I make the PDF opened by Adobe Reader and be able to save without problem?
    Thank you a lot
    Gustavo.

Long hold on the document in mail and it should give you the open in... option, select adobe reader and the file is now saved locally for viewing even while offline.

  • Comments/Annotations erased after document save in Adobe Reader X

I have opened a document which contained six comments made by user cmhomer (as seen in the below image).
While reviewing the document I add additional comments and annoatations.  In the image below you will see 7 comments, one which was made by user cunderw.
When I am finished and save the document I am prompted with the "Save As" dialogue.  I enter a new file name and complete the Save process.  Once saved I close the document.
When I open the new document I just saved, the original comments and my comments can no longer be seen (see image below)
I have tested this process with version 8 of Adobe Reader and it works without any issues.  I have also had three of my co-workers test Adobe Reader X and are having the same problems.
Any help would greatly be appreciated.
    Chris

I tested it and it works fine. Are you sure your browser is using the Reader plugin?
Follow these instructions to make sure:

  • Solution for locating Save Button - Adobe Reader 9 Vista

I have been unable to find the save button when opening PDF files online since upgrading to Adobe Reader 9.  The button that normally appeared as a "disk icon" was missing. I am a propoent of right clicking to find solutions. Today, I opened a PDF online, right clicked on the menu bar at the top, and clicked on "Reset Toolbar" and suddenly the button appeared. Problem solved!!!

    Having same problem using:
    Adobe reader 9.3.2.163
    Windows 7 Home premium Version 6.1.7600, 64bit
    IE 8.0.7600.16385
    Possible solutions found:
    1.  Emailed document to myself from within the reader window (you can enable email button by right clicking on print icon, brings up a menu where clicking on "email" enables the email button on the menu, clicking on that brings up a window where you can send link or copy, send copy spawns an outlook message to yourself with the attachment already filled in, email).  Upon receipt, attachment can be saved (right click, save as).
    2.  Turn of IE protected mode, restart IE, view the pdf, the save icon is now active.  (Your computer is at risk using this option - if you turn it off - you probably should go back and turn protected mode back on again).
Anyone have any other suggestions?  Just glad to find a work-around ... Would love Adobe to take a look and see if there is a solution to this!

  • Can't save in Adobe Reader X 10.1.3

I've been downloading some pdf files for my records and adobe is driving me crazy.  I click the disc icon in the grey menu bar and nothing happens.  I turned on the toolbar and tried from there.  Nothing.  I also tried doing ctrl-shift-S.  No response.  It's also inconsistent.  Sometimes, when it's the first file I've downloaded, it will pull up a dialog box and let me save, but then with any subsequent files I get the above result.  Very strange.
I'm using the Firefox browser, but opening the pdf files in independent windows.
This has not only frustrated me, but it's a monumental time waster.  Help!!!!

As I understand things, using the free Reader you cannot save PDF files that have not been enabled to be saved.

  • Form save works in Adobe Reader 8 but not in Adobe Reader 9

We have an FDA form that customers fill out and save in Adobe Reader.  The form worked perfectly with Reader 8, but we are seeing the following Adobe Reader error with Reader 9:
"This document enables Reader capabilities that are no longer in this Reader version."
Also, in Reader 8, the purple bar at the top reads:
"Please fill out the following form. You can save data typed into this form."
However, in Reader 9, the purple bar reads:
"Please fill out the following form. You cannot save data typed into this form.
Please print the completed form if you would like a copy for your records."
The same PDF form was used for both readers.
Does anyone have any ideas?  Did Adobe really disable this capability in Reader 9?  Their website states you can save forms with Reader 9.

Adobe Reader 9 can't save the old FDA forms. FDA must update their forms.

Open the document in the Adobe reader app.

Tap on the Open  In icon (upper right - looks like a box with an arrow)
    Select Open In...
Select DropBox (depending on the number of app you have available for this function, you may have to swipe to find it
Drop Box should open with a Save to Dropbox window.
    Tap save
You Adobe Reader app should have come with a user guide as one of the preloaded documents. It should have instruction for this as well

  • I can not download adobe reader

Ever since the last Adobe Reader update I have been unable to open pdf files in Safari. So I attempted to delete all Adobe applications in hopes of reinstalling the software. Now I can not even save the Adobe Reader install File to download.

    HI Ric ...
    Quit Safari.
    Go to   /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Move the Adobe PDF Browser plugin to the Trash.
    Relaunch Safari.
See if that worked for you...

  • Digitally Signing a PDF using Adobe Reader

    Hi,
I am trying to create a PDF with a digital signature form so that any of our users with Adobe Reader can digitally sign (to authorise) the document.
I am using Acrobat 9 Standard, I have created the signature form and saved with "Extend Forms Fill-in & Save in Adobe Reader..." This works fine for other forms (tick box for example) but not the Signature field. The field is viewable but all options are greyed out.
The security settings prior to saving "Extend Forms Fill-in & Save in Adobe Reader..." are all allowed, but after Changing the Document/Document Assembly/Commenting/Signing/Creation of Template Pages are all Not Allowed. I appreciatesome need to be restricted to allow for extended features to work in Adobe Reader but the link below implies (unless I am missing something) that signing should be possible in Adobe Reader:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Reader/8.0/help.html?content=WS58a04a822e3e50102bd615109794195 ff-7d48.html
Am I missing something, or does this just not work?
    Thanks in advance

Thanks for the information. I am now trying using a trial of Acrobat X.
However I am having the same issue now I can't even tick the checkbox. When the PDF is opened with Reader on the same PC it works as expected (both checkbox and signature field are available). Soon as it is emailed/moved somewhere else we can't even tick the checkbox with the message below coming up on opening:
"This document enabled extended features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and use of extended features is no longer available. Please contrct the author of the orginal version of this document"
I've also tried using Distribute through Acrobat but receive the same message.
So I am struggling with creating a PDF on one PC that needs to be digitally authorised by someone else on a different PC, using Adobe Reader.
I have been using Save as...>Reader Extended PDF as the Advanced menu is no longer there...
Apologies if this something obvious and simple, this is the first time I have tried to do this.
