Save itunes preferences

hi folks,
im re installing my system software today, but i dont want to loose all my itunes playlists and song counts etc.
is there a file that i can keep and add back into itunes when i re install os x?

Al data which is not stored in the tags of the song files, is stored in the 'iTunes Library' file.
What are the iTunes library files? tells you more about that and also tells you where to find it.
I usually recommend to backup the entire iTunes folder. That way you will catch all songs and all info.
If you also want to preserve the preferences and the custom equalizer settings, back up these files located at /Users/Username/Library/Preferences:
com.apple.iTunes.plist
com.apple.iTunes.eq.plist
and if you have an iPod, also:
com.apple.iPod.plist

I can't save my "preferences" on iTunes.

I have iTunes on my PC at work and at home. At work, I have turned off the "crossfade" preference and at the bottom of the page is an "ok" button which allows me to save my changed preference.
On my iTunes at home, all the same preference selections are there, but there is no way to save the preference. So, I deselect the "crossfade" option, but when you exit, the crossfade gets turned right back on because there is no "ok" or "save" button.
I have upgraded to the latest version of iTunes and STILL there is no option for saving my preferences.
Has anyone else run into this quirk?

Is the iTunes volume control up far enough and can you see the time elapsed indicator moving?
If both these things are okay, then check your audio settings for your computer; has the mute control been turned on (which mutes the sound)? The mute control may be different on your computer, but on mine, there is a small speaker icon in the bottom right corner (on the taskbar).
If the taskbar speaker has that red-crossed circle, then the volume is muted. Click on it to open the "speaker" bar and then click on the speaker in the speaker bar to un-mute. Also, the slider control is another volume control, separate from the iTunes one. This must be up towards the top of the scale.

How do I save library preferences?

This should be simple but I cannot make it happen. When I upgraded last night to the new version of iTunes, "podcasts" was unchecked as a category to display in my library. I can re-check the box, but the preferences/general dialog box doesn't have an option to save my changes--and the changes aren't saved if I close the box. How do I save these preferences?

Can't find Apple TV in itunes preferences

I am trying to connect my Apple TV (1st generation) to my itunes 10.5.3. I go to iTUnes > Preferences> and there should be an AppleTV icon at the top, but it is missing. How can I get to the AppleTV icon and settings?

Its not a new pairing, It has and was working perfectly before until about 2 weeks ago when i first had trouble with it. I tried to play music and the sound/volume was flactuating. The volume would go up and down every 30 seconds or so. I didnt have time to look into it then so I didnt bother trying to fix it. Then this happens, the tab to pick which speakers to play with has disappeared from my itunes. I have not changed my Mac or the AppleTv box, or the wireless setup. So i'm not sure why it just stopped working. I tried looking in Itunes preferences but nothing comes up there. The AppleTv is connected to my sony TV and when i switch to the hdmi chanel the Apple TV screen saver appears and the various options. (i hope this is making sense).

Itunes preferences and ipod synching

{i} changed prefs to synch ipod automatically when connected.
[ii] but removed songs from library that would prefer to save on ipod
[iii][a] so is there any way to change itunes preferences to synch ipod manually without actually plugging in an ipod (when the ipod section is chosen in prefs without connecting, the program smugly states "no ipod connected")
[iii]{b} or is it possible to connect ipod per de facto state of affairs [see {i}] sans a fatal song update (removing of same) it is preferred remain in ipod.

IPhone syncs automatically after restore despite 'prevent automatic sync' in iTunes preferences

iPhone 4 just restored to deal with memory issue, and after restore, it starts to sync automatically when I connect it to my laptop (OS X 10.9.5, iTunes 11.4) despite checking 'Prevent iDevices from syncing automatically' in iTunes preferences.
iTunes summary screen for the phone, under options, shows a grayed-out 'Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected' phrase, with no box to deselected to fix it.
Any idea what is going on?

This one was odd: it stopped after the first sync was finally completed--had to interrupt several times to use the phone away from the computer before all the music and photos were fully reloaded. Now it waits appropriately for next sync. This is probably why no one else had seen this or replied.

My PC died this summer (I still have it though).
Now when syncing any of the multiple devices (ipods,ipads, iphones) that we have with my mac book, itunes states that "an error occurred" or the "app cannot be found". Itunes wants me to erase the device and sync with my macbook. The message "The iPhone “Renee’s iPhone” is synced with another iTunes library on “Renee PC”. Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library? An iPhone can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPhone with the contents of this iTunes library."appears.

u can give try to using external enclosre and backup ur files. I hope u will get files back. or using external enclosre with ur hdd boot into Linux and try to mount ur harddisk.
there are multiple no of tutorial to mount apple partion in Linux.

Updated Firefox won't save my preferences; reverts to original settings.

A few days ago, Firefox updated itself to the 18.0.1 version. Now, each time Firefox updates itself, I tend to lose some of my preferences, those being: opening new tabs as a blank page, tabs being on the bottom, and showing my windows and tabs from last time. Usually, though, once I go and change these things back to the way I like them, they stay like that and I have no further problems.
However, this time Firefox won't save my preferences. The tabs go back to being on top, the tabs I last closed aren't there, and these tool bars I don't want keep appearing. Instead, three tabs are always there upon opening Firefox: Welcome to Firefox, Mozilla Firefox Start Page, and Yahoo! Toolbar. Also, when opening a new tab, the page says, "page does not exist" or something, and the URL is not even comprehensible, just random letters like someone bashed their head into the keyboard, something like: "jkfui87$^&%$$09."
I've tried resetting Firefox like it says in the "How to fix preferences that won't save" page, but it didn't help. As for deleting certain files from the profile folder, before I resetted Firefox, I only had "user" and "prefs" and "Invalidprefs" which weren't exactly what that self-helping page asked for so I didn't delete them. After I resetted Firefox I lost the "user" file, but I still have the other two. Should I try deleting them even if they're not exactly like the page describes? They are missing the ".js" part so I haven't felt comfortable messing with them.
Please give me some advice. I'm tired of having to go change my settings in "about:config" each time I open Firefox. But I really don't want to try anything that would delete my bookmarks or history, as I'm very dependent of them.

Obviously no one here actually READS these things, I tried all of that even did a clean install, even uninstalled all user data and THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE!

You have lost a die hard fan of Firefox, I am switching to another browser.
Unfortunately I tried older versions of Firefox and had to go all the way back to Firefox 4 and now the problem is fixed.

How can I save the preferences in Adobe Acrobat Standard XI?

I'm not able to save any preferences in Acrobat. (like Units, display preferences, the locations of the tools...)
Each time I exit and open again Acrobat, the preferences are not saved, which is very annoying

Due to many problems with my computer with Windows 7-64 , many resetllements both windows and itunes.
Now everything is ok after a lot of works. I have 70 000 songs - 379 Go but each time i restaure Itunes with my itunes Media from an external DD i'm obliged to import each playlist one by one because they are empty. (it's very long ........376 playlists )
To be clear they appear but are empty
Luckily i backup everything and regularly
I think it's a problem of .iTunes Preferences.plist but this file has totaly disappear ( as sentinel but it's not important )
I've got the last version 11.0.1.12 ( thank you APPLE for this version because the previous one was not correct for the big library in particular for the search, now is quite good, the duolicates are here and i don;t care of the cover flow because it has never worked well ( lack of fluidity, let's face it !! now it miss just the cover as before at the bottom of the left column -playlists)
Before i had this file, how can i create a new one before problems and obligation to reinstall each content of each playlist ?

Where is the new "import settings" tab in itunes preferences... ????

when i go to itunes>preferences>advanced to set my file size setting for choosing what kind of file i want my song to be on import, i see no tab for import settings like before....... also checked itunes help and it didn't say it was in a different place......help??
