Save menu to file

I am starting a business creating DVDs. I use FCP, iMovie, and iDVD.
I want to show an example of the iDVD motion menu from my last project on my website:
http://web.mac.com/modernmagic/modernmagic/VIDEOPRODUCTION/VIDEOPRODUCTION.html
Is there another way besides a screen video capture to save the DVD motion menu as a file that I can then put on my website?

Not that I'm aware of (at least not with an active menu selection short of using DVDSP which I don't think will allow you to use any active Menus from i-apps).....wish I could be of more help on this one.
You have some great shots. I enjoyed it.

  • Trying to Save (menu or cmd-s) a file always opens Save As dialog

    Hi,
First post (hello forums) - any help would be much appreciated. Please be kind if this is a no-brainer for the gurus out there.
    I'm on a Mac G5, OSX 10.4 running CS3 - upgraded from PS7 about 3 weeks ago.
All was humming along nicely until this morning. I opened a file I had been working on (without problem) yesterday, made a few edits, hit cmd-s, and the save As dialog popped up. Okay, no worries -- overwrite, and move on. Made a few more edits, cmd-s, and again the Save As dialog pops up. Cancelled that dialog and tried the save command from the menu -- same thing -- get the Save As dialog. Hmmm... Closed that file, created a fresh one, made some simple edits, and tried to Save -- again the Save As dialog opens.
Not a huge deal - I can always overwrite, but save should just save a working file surely.
I've scoured the interwebs looking for any ideas, but nothing.
Again, any help would be much appreciated.

    Hey,
Thanks for the speedy response. Its been .psd's so far, but I haven't tried any other file type. Edits have been anything really -- adding layers to new files, adding layers to existing layered files, adding shapes, adding text to a layer - just about any alteration that would normally 'un-grey' the save option in the menu.
The 'Layers' and the 'Embed Color Profile' boxes are checked in the save As dialog.
    Thanx.

Version 9.1.10 (build 9399), running on Windows XP.Current version of S9O is 9.1.1 (build 9420). 9.2 should be out late December early January.
When trying to save a file as specific type, I am NOT presented with a menu of file types.Your build and number information suggest that your installation may be corrupt.
In Options under StarOffice > General, there is an Open/Save dialogs option "Use StarOffice dialogs". Change it and see what happens.

  • Why do I have to File Save twice before the Save menu is grayed out?

Open a file into Photoshop CC
    Add a Levels layer
    Click File>Save
The Save menu is still available when you click File. Doing another File>Save make the Save menu become grayed out (like it should the first time).
    System info:
    Adobe Photoshop Version: 2014.2.1 20141014.r.257 2014/10/14:23:59:59 CL 987299  x64
Operating System: Mac OS 10.10.1 (the problem has occurred since Mac OS 10.8.x)
    Thanks for any help.
    Daniel

    I have OSX 10.10.1 and CC 2014.
So I will open a PSD with an adjustment layer.
I turn off and on the "eyeball" in the layers panel. It counts as a change.
If you look at your document tab, you see a star at the end of the filename. It shows you made changes to  the file.
File > Save would remove that star and File > Save does dim on my Macbook.
If you are seeing it twice, the Preferences file may be corrupt. I suggest a reset.
Macintosh - CMD-SHIFT-OPTION immediately after you double-click the PS icon.
If that doesn't work uninstall/reinstall CC 2014 and updates'
Let me know how it went and mark the answer correct only if this solved your problem.

  • How can I make a droplet save a modified file next to the original file?

I am having a problem getting a Photoshop Droplet save a modified file next to the original file. That is, when I drag a file "page_6.pdf" from some directory onto my droplet, I want it to do its work and save a modified "page_6.psd" in that same directory.
This isn't working for me on Photoshop CC 2014 on Mac OS 10.10.
I have an Action which has an Open command, with the filename "page_1.pdf". Then it has a bunch of editing commands. Then it has a "Save As... Photoshop format" command, and a Close command. When I run this action within Photoshop, it brings up Open and Save As dialogues, and works fine.
In creating the droplet, I used File... Automate... Create Droplet..., and selected the following options:
    Override Action "Open" commands
    Destination menu value = Folder
Using Choose... button, select an output folder, Directory_1/ .
Check Override Action "Save As Commands" is checked
For File Naming, I use [Document Name] + "_deleteme" + [extension]
When I drag a folder, say "page_5.pdf" from some directory onto the droplet, Photoshop runs the Action on the document. However, it saves the modified document in Directory_1/, regardless of where the original file came from. And it always names the modified document "page_1_deleteme.psd", instead of using the Document Name of the original file.
If I modify the Open command in the Action to mention a different file, then the droplet always names the modified document with that name. It's as if Document Name in the File Naming dialogue always reflects what's in the Open command in the Action.  But -- I asked the droplet to Override Action "Open" commands!
When I set the Destination menu value to "Save and Close", then when I drag a file onto the droplet, the droplet opens a File Save dialogue and forces me to tell it where to store the file.  I don't understand this behaviour, and have a hard time reconciling it with the documentation at Photoshop Help | Processing a batch of files .
(Interestingly, when Destination menu value = None or Save and Close, Photoshop displays an alert about overwriting an existing droplet when I click OK to save. But when Destination menu value = Folder, there is no alert about overwriting existing droplet.)
How can I set up a droplet so that it writes the modified file in the same directory as the original file, and with the same root filename, but a different extension to reflect the different output file format?
Has anyone else made a droplet behave this way on Photoshop CC 2014 on Mac OS X 10.10?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Thanks for your insights.
Does my Action need to include an Open command?  I sure thought so, because of how the Photoshop Help | Processing a batch of files documentation describes 'Override Action “Open” Commands'.
"...If the action contains an Open command that opens a saved file and you don't select this option, the Batch command opens and processes only the file you used to record the Open command..." I don't want to operate only the file I used to record the Open command. However, this sentence doesn't say that an Open command should be part of a droplet Action.
"...Deselect this option if the action was recorded to operate on an open file..."  Maybe I if I rethink my Action as operating on an open file, then the Droplet will take care of the Open for me.  However, I have less control over the options the droplet's Open command uses.
I'll try disabling the Open command, and create a Droplet with that.

Anyone having this issue and are there any work arounds?  Thanks

Import it to iTunes by drag to the open iTunes Music window.
Mark it there by clickin once.
Go to the menu and search for "new version for…" .
Wait, if ready, right-click the new file once and you can see it in the finder to work with it.
    But do not change location.
Only work with a duplicate by holding down option key when dragging to an other place.
If you want to delete it from its original location, do it within iTunes.

  • How do I save a pdf file in version 1.3?

  • Preflight keeps saying  "Unable to save the PDF File after post processing"

I'm at a loss how to overcome this. Spent almost a whole day, together with another person, trying to fix it with no success!
I use Adobe pro CC on a PC
I usually receive pdf files from this one client who edits and formats a book in Mac Pages. Up until a few days ago I had no problems converting the client's pdfs into pdf/x3, but the last three versions of the latest file have stumped me.
Just to test, I first just tried to convert the file (33MB), unchanged, to pdf/x3 using the save as other option - message reads  "the document has been saved, however, it could not be converted according to the selected standard profile: convert to PDF/X. Please use preflight with the profile "Convert to PDF/X" in order to identify those properties of the document which prevent it from being compliant to this profile"
if I then choose under Profiles - convert to PDF/X3 - it says no problems found, and appears to have saved the file. If I try to save again as a pdf/x3, just to make sure, it then tells me it's not pdf/x3 compliant
OK - so then I go back to preflight - and choose the standards function - then pdf/x3, then continue with the default colour profile. About halfway through the conversion, at the point of saving the file,  I get the message "unable to save the pdf file after post processing"
So far I've had no luck figuring out what this is.
I then choose the option of "verify compliance of ppdf/x3" - message reads "pdf/x3 version key (GTS_PDFXVersion) missing", and "Trapped key not true or false"
Help!! How can I be sure the file converted / or not?
    kim

Yes I was/am aware of Preflight's inability to play nicely over cloud technologies in certain cases, especially wrt Standards technologies, this will be partially addressed in an upcoming version of Preflight without saying too much.  But the same thing could theoretically have happened if the file was also located on another local network client or server.  Leaving aside the argument that this may violate the Acrobat User Agreement - since purchasing the software, the user agrees to employ its functionality on a single host system and precludes host-client-based scenarios - this simply is not a supported use, meaning the user may not have expectations that it will work at all, if the applications requirements are not observed.  There do exist server-solutions for Preflight files within networks, but Acrobat and by extension Acrobat Preflight is not one of those solutions, and (still) belongs in the single host-based desktop environment.
However most (99.9%) functions within Acrobat <-> acrobat.com file exchange are supported, file syncing across multiple devices will soon be supported, but Standards compliance is still admittedly a problem at this point.  Some testing has been done using 3rd party cloud technologies starting with enterprise-based solutions, such as Office 365, and this will continue to ramp up to include other 3rd party products.
As for the second point, Preflight will usually change the PDF version to be complaint, are you saying that it was unable to do so in this case?  It seems that this error should have popped up during the normal Preflight conversion attempt.  Personally I think solving a workflow problem using the print path is a little bit of a heavy-handed approach, but if helped and the results are acceptable, then that is good.  Since that path is non-existent on a Mac, as one needs to Save as Adobe PDF from the Print dialog's PDF drop-down menu, I am assuming your workflow involved file creation on a Mac, then further processing on Windows using the PDF printer.  I am wondering if a simple resave/Save As... to PDF with overwrite on a Mac, or Preflighting the file using a PDF version compatibility profile before the PDF/X conversion would have helped.  Since there are such a multitude of methods that a PDF can be created, there are also many ways within Acrobat that a user can shape the file to be compatible with the expected workflow, ie, 'many ways to skin a cat', without being morbid.

  • RFBELJ00 save as local file?

    Hello everybody,
our customer needs to run the report RFBELJ00 in a background job and wants to save the selected data in a local text file (because of certified accountant). Is there a possibility to do so? or maybe another report who delivers the same result and can save it in an local file instead of printing it?
I tried to save the data in a pdf.-file. This is not exactly what the customer wants but it didn't work too.

    Hi,
Yes you can do it.  Execute the report in the background.  Once the execution is complete.  Go into SM37 and execute.  Select the completed job and click on Spool button.  Select the spool and click on display button, the report output will be displayed.
Now click from the menu follow either of the two paths:
    1.  Spool Request -> Forward -> Save to local file.
    2.  System -> List -> save -> Local file
In the ensuing pop-up, select Unconverted and save it as a text file to your desktop.  You can also select spreadsheet and save as a csv text file.
    cheers.
