Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

  • If I exit from Firefox "Save Tabs" did not appear.WindosXP.Firefox 3.5.7

For better using I uninstall Firefox 3.5 and install Firefox 4.0.1. It often crush and I uninstall Firefox 4.0.1 and install Firefox 3.5.7. Now when I exit from Firefox, window "Save Tabs" do not appear. It is unpleasant for me.
    Thank you.

Just for clarification, the about:config browser.showQuitWarning true no longer brings up a dialog ever, which it used to do in closing an individual window, as well as closing the Firefox Application.

  • I want to use master password but sites I had previously said not save passwords are not listed in the security section of tools/options. What do I do?

I was not using the master password provision but have decided to. There are a number of sited where I told Firefox not to save the password. I have since changed my mind and want to use the master password. There are no sites listed as exceptions in the options/tools/remember passwords for sites/exceptions.
How do I get Firefox to remember passwords for sites I had previously to it not to remember?

If it is not in the exceptions list you should be able to go to that site again and type in password and it will ask you if you want to save it.
    More about it here.

  • 'Save image as' not working in Firefox 4

    Hey all-
I updated to Firefox 4 a couple of days ago and since then my when I try to save images from websites nothing happens. I used to get a prompt asking me where to save the image, now I get nothing. I've tried it with the right click menu and I've tried opening the picture in it's own page and saving the page. Anyone else having this problem or know of a fix? Thanks.

When this issue arose with older versions of Firefox, you could delete the file download.rdf from the path: C:\Documents and Settings\[your user name]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\vlcl3pr1.default\ (Assuming Windows XP also).
Now with Firefox 4.0 and Windows 7, the "download.rdf" file does not exist. I specifically looked at C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\vhhpucf5.default only two rdf files were "localstore" and "mimetypes" I plan to try deleting "localstore" and see if that works.
UPDATE: deleting "localstore" made no difference. I thought you could drag and drop the image, but that fails also.
The work around is that the image is saved as an "html" when in fact it is the image. You can change the extension to "jpg" (be sure to note the extension as you are trying to save the file).

  • I'm having a problem where Firefox keeps asking for my Amazon password, even though I tell Firefox NOT to remember this password. In Firefox options, Amazon is clearly listed as a site for which not to save passwords.

Do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Site Preferences"
Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.

  • Passwords cannot be saved in version 22. worked fine before the upgrade. I am NOT in the "Private Viewing" setting. It just will NOT save passwords.

The "dropdown for "Save passwords is NOT grayed out. Clicking the "save password box does NOTHING. I am running Windows XP SP3. The previous version (21) worked fine. Version 223 does not allow for passwords to be saved. I am NOT in the Private viewing mode. The ""Remember Passwords for sites" box under Tools/ Options/ Security is checked. "remember History" shows on Tools/ Options/ Privacy. As I said: Save passwords is no longer working with version 22. It worked on version 21. No settings were made with this upgrade. I am on another computer that does NOT have version 22 on it. I refuse to upgrade this computer.

This does NOT work either. If you are not running Windows XP SP# and Firefox 22 please do not make these suggestions. These two "suggestions" do NOT work either. The problem is inherent with Firefox release 22. It will NOT allow the saving of passwords. Again: if you are not running Windows XP SP3 and Firefox 22 please do not offer these "suggestions"....

  • Fire fox will not save any passwords even after checking the save passwords box

I don't know how else to say it, the save password does not work even after checking the save password box if I can't get it fixed I'll use some one else

Go to Tools | Options and choose the Security tab from the Options dialog. Check the "Remember passwords for sites" checkbox. Click the Exceptions button to make sure the site you want to remember is not listed.
From that point on, Firefox will record the username and password combination you enter for a site provided it can recognized those fields in the website form. If the username and password are not already recorded for that site, a bar will expand down at the top of the webpage below the page tabs asking you if you want to remember or ignore that new information. Clicking the Remember button will record that information for that site. When you visit that same form again, either the single recorded username and password should automatically appear in the form fields, or a drop-down list of choices will appear when you set the focus to that field. The choices can be filtered by typing the first letters.
If the "Save password" checkbox you mentioned is displayed on the webpage, it is not a part of Firefox and is a function of the webpage of that site, so it does not affect the ability of Firefox to remember usernames and passwords for a particular site.

  • Saved passwords will not show passwords in firefox 3.6

When I go to Tools>Option>Security>Saved Passwords - Saved Passwords do not show up.

Firefox has some printing bugs that appear when the page designer uses certain style rules. There's no immediate prospect that Firefox will be fixed, but of course mail.live.com could be changed at any time. Until then, you can use the Stylish extension to override the styles on mail.live.com, and many other sites that could use a tweak.
If you're inclined to try this:
    (1) Install Stylish
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2108/
    (2) Add a new user style
Tools > Add-ons > User Style tab > Write New Style button
Give it any name you like (e.g., Fix Hotmail Printing) and then copy and paste the following style rule text into the large edit area:
    @namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);
    @-moz-document domain("mail.live.com") {
    .PrintContent .ReadMsgBody .ExternalClass {display:block !important}
Compare with my screen shot for reference.
Explanation: this overrides the style from display:inline-block back to display:block.
    Works for me. Any luck?

  • Save password prompt drops before I can enter data

Version 3.6.18 on Win7 Home Premium
When entering user/password on bank site, the "save Password" popup comes up but goes away in 1/2 second before I can enter that data.
I'm using Avast! 6.0.1203 with "sandbox" turned off.
It previously worked but now won't allow entry.
    Help!

    Hi,
You can [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/update/ update Firefox] and check: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
It may be still available as a small icon on the left edge of the location (address) bar. If it's present, you can try clicking on it and save the password.
If the problem persists after updating, please '''try the Firefox Safe Mode''' to see how it works there. The Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.''
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open the Firefox 4.0+ Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or use the Help menu item and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Don't select anything right now, just use "'Start in Safe Mode"''
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shift key) to open it again.''
'''''If it is good in the Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.
Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''

  • I clicked on Firefox's "save password" on a blogsite, now I can't "comment" on that site, I'm caught in a loop, keep getting logged out of that site when I try to comment, but not a problem when I try Explorer.

When I navigate to the page to view comments and leave a comment myself, the comments appear but the link to leave a comment is missing, and my username and password is pre-populated in those fields (presumable by the Firefox "save password" program)on that "comment" page. When I click "submit" to log in again, I am logged in but redirected back to the front page. When I click on the page that allows me to leave a comment, I get kicked out again. I'm caught in a loop.
I do not have this problem when I exit Firefox and open Internet Explorer and go to that blog site, although the username and password fields are automatically populated when I type the first digit of my username, probably because Firefox is still operating in the background on my computer.
I tried clearing two hours of recent history, as that was the timeline when I clicked on "Save Password" from the pop up box, but it didn't help.

  • How do I save password info for a site when Firefox does not offer to?

Certain sites that require a password I do not remember ever being offered the opportunity to save a password for that site, so it doesn't show up in rejected, and I can find no option to get Firefox to offer to save password info for me...aside from this I have been very pleased with Firefox since i made the switch in Sept...Thank you, a technically challenged grandmother...

If a website doesn't offer to store the password then chances are that it doesn't fill that password either if you use the "Saved Passwords Editor" extension. You can only use that extension in such a case as a reminder in case you forget the password.

  • I accidently hit save password on my gmail homepage and now i cannot remove my login info. i looked under firefox settings and it does not allow me to make an exception for gmail. please help!

i hit the save password mozilla function for my gmail login page by accident. when i go under preferences, i cannot add an exception for gmail. now my login info and password are permanently displayed and i cannot undo it. the closest thing is to uncheck 'remember passwords for this site' but i do not want that because there are a lot of other sites that i want that function. when i hit 'exceptions' it has 'accounts.google.com' listed but it seems to not work for gmail and i cannot manually add an exception.

    Different dialog. Try here:
Firefox > Preferences > Security > Saved Passwords
Can you find it there and delete it?

  • I selected save password; but firefox does not have it in the list of saved passwords??

I selected save password; but Firefox does not have it in the list of saved passwords??

Firefox will only remember a password if you click the Remember button on the sliding bar at the top that opens when Firefox detects a password.<br />
If you mean a check box on a web page to remember you then such a choice is stored in a cookie on your computer.
    * Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie.
    * Create an allow cookie exception (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions) to keep such a cookie, especially for secure websites and if cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
    * In [[Private Browsing]] mode all cookies are session cookies that expire if that session is ended, so websites won't remember you.
    * Do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"
Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and password exceptions.

  • Firefox does not ask if I want to save a new password anymore. And I DO want to save passwords periodically.

A pop up used to show asking if I wanted Firefox to remember password. I don't see this anymore. What happened?

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.
