Save pdf to ipad

I have a PDF downloaded to my iMac. I would like to save to iBooks on my iPad. How do I go about this please.
Thank you
Andre

Drag the PDF file in the books section of the iTunes library and then sync the iPad with iTunes.
Launch iTunes and enable the sidebar to make it a little easier to navigate. Go to View>Show Sidebar from the iTunes menu. Drag the PDF file into the books section uner the Library heading at the top. Connect your iPad to your Mac, select it under the Devices heading on the left. Click on the Books tab in the window on the right. Select the PDF file (put a checkmark in the box next to it) and then click on Apply in the lower right corner.
You can also email the PDF and when you open it in the email, hold down on it and an Open In window will pop up. You can tap iBooks and the file will be saved in iBooks.

  • Why can't I save PDF files on my iPad and iPhone

Since I upgraded to iOS 5 I have not been able to save PDF fines on my iPad and iPhone . Yet that's want the case before the upgrade. Can some one tell me why...b,se I feel like the upgrade was a step backward than forward..

Thanks for this Griff but it's not the app that isn't responding.  I am in the facebook app (on both iPhone and iPad) and the app is working fine but if people post a video I can't look at the video on the iPhone or iPad.  i always used to be able to but now it keeps coming up with the message I mentioned above.  So I can no longer watch videos from facebook on either my iPad or iPhone.  Here is a screen shot of my phone of what is happening.  As you can see I have full wifi so there is nothing wrong with my internet connection. This is really annoying as I used to be able to watch videos on both phone and ipad out of facebook.  now I can't.  Hope you can help.  regards and thanks Vicki

  • TS1702 I downloaded ibooks to my ipad so I have a place to save PDF files.  I do not get the "open in ibooks" option.  Only get "mail" and "print" option.

I downloaded ibooks to my ipad so that I can save PDF files to ibooks but I do not get an "open in ibooks" message to select.  When I choose the icon, I only get mail or print option.

Where are these PDFs coming from?  What do you mean by "save PDF files to ibooks" and then "I do not get an 'open ibooks' message?  If they are saved to ibooks (I assume you used itunes to save a dragged in PDF to the ibooks panel in apps) then you should be able to open and view them in ibooks.  If they are not in ibooks (I'm assuming this is the case, since you want to get an "open in ibooks" option from the *share* icon, right?) then where are they on the mini, which app?

  • I cannot save PDF files that has a lock on the right hand side of the tab in safari iOS 5 from my iPad. Please help to find a solution.

Can someone help find a fix of how to save PDF files from safari in iOS 5.0.1? The PDF files show a lock on the right hand side of tab. Only these lock PDF cannot be save. Any help will be highly appreciated.

I assume that you have iBooks or GoodReader or Adobe Reader - some app that will open PDF files so my suggestion would be to start with the basic things, restart your iPad, reset it or quit Safari and restart.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
In order to close/quit apps - Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off.
To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
The lock to the right side of the tab indicates that the website is secure - or at least that is what it looks like in Safai on my iPad. Sites with the https in the address have the lock icon in the tab, non secure sites - web pages without the https - do not have the lock icon. I'm not sure if that has any bearing on it - none of the PDF files that I have opened in Safari have the lock icon.
But if you can open the file - it doesn't make sense that it would be locked??? Try the basic suff and see if any of that helps.

  • How to save PDF files on an iPad files

How do I save PDF files onto an iPad?

There are several common ways to do this:
    1) Email the files to yourself and choose "Open In" from the mail application by long pressing on the attachment(s)
    2) Use a file sharing service like box.net, dropbox, gdrive or skydrive and choose "open in" from those applications
    3) Use iTunes as I describe in response to this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/992991

How do you save PDF to a USB flash drive from iPad 2

You can't, the camera kit connection kit which has a USB connection only supports the copying of photos and videos to the Photos app, and doesn't support the copying of any content off the iPad - you will either need to go via your computer.

  • What happened to reading pdfs on ipad after "upgrading" to iOS5?  I cant find them nor can I figure out how to save a pdf in iOS5.

I cant seem to figure out how to save pdf's to my ipad in iOS5.  I understand they got wiped out with the update but why did the feature go away or if it didnt how do I save a pdf for offline viewing?

    Captkenrea-
It probably depends on where you are seeing the PDFs.  I had not noticed a change with my iPad.
In Mail, a PDF attachment can be read there, but it also can be "Opened In" some other Apps such as iBooks.  When opened in iBooks, it is saved to one of the bookshelves.  If you do not see it, press on Collections at the top of an iBooks bookshelf.  It may have been saved to a different bookshelf.
In Safari, often you can press and hold on a link or document, and have additional options appear.

How do I save PDF documents in Adobe Reader on my iPad that I have downloaded from Adobe.com?

    Hi Mom1941,
Thank you for contacting us.You can save/put your document in Adobe Reader via iTunes.
    Follow certain steps-
    1. Connect your iPhone or iPad to your Mac or PC (instructions work for both machines).
    2. Open up iTunes.
    3. In iTunes, open your device from the left hand window, and go to the apps screen
    4. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen, and then select Adobe Reader from the list. You can now drag-and-drop your files in the area to the right or tap on Add button which is placed at bottom side.
    5. Open Adobe Reader on your iPhone or iPad, your PDFs are now in your library!
Let us know if this does not help for you.

  • Word docs and PDFs on iPad

I don't have an iPad yet but I'm considering buying one. Can I transfer a Word doc or a PDF from my computer to an iPad in order to read it? To edit it?

You have to be careful with annotation apps. With some, you can view the annotations in some pdf readers but not others. There have been discussions about this before, below I include a post by GNRBeaumont. I have PDF Expert, but it can't create the two types of annotation formats (see below) - but it does have other features that are valuable. Since iAnnotate PDF can handle the two formats, I bought that as well. You'll also be wise to have several pdf readers, since some do not read material that other do. Anyway, the post I referred to...
"I have spent several hours of research and trial and error and money on numerous apps to learn a surprising thing about pdf.
Annotations will not show up unless [1] the viewing app supports the particular format by which the annotation was added or [2] You are using an annotation that saves in image format (still a pdf file).
I like the latter but that means the annoation can not be edited.
The best for "2" are neu.annotate and noterize. When your annotations are made in this format everything will read it including built in email attachment viewer.
Number "1" is a mess. If you use editable format for adding annotation then the built in email viewer will not show it and many other pdf readers (iPad and desktop) MAY not read it. I have had really crazy combos, including one where my desktop would see it but when it printed the annotation disappeared.
The app in "1" category that seems most universally reliable is pdf expert.
iannotate is the only one I know of that lets you choose what format (editable or non editable) to save in. But it currently has a rotation bug that they are working on.
Since I want to make sure that whomever I send annotations to can see them, I use method "2" "

  • How do i save PDFs directly from web browser to iBooks - on a MAC

Is it possible to save PDFs directly from a web browser (any web browser) to iBooks?
it is easy to view and 'open in' iBooks from an iPad/iPhone, but don't see this option on the MAC.
i have resorted to saving the file and emailing it.  Once viewed on the 'i-device' it can be easily saved.
iBooks is installed on my MAC and synced, so i can view the library.
I am just missing this direct step - MAC to iBooks
    Please help,
    Thanks - Rob

The iphone is not a storage/backup device.
The sync is one way - computer iphone.  The only exception is itunes purchases:  File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old comptuer, to your new one.

Is there a way to save a PDF in iPad camera roll?

You could view the PDF in Reader, then take a screen capture of each page. You can do a screen capture by clicking the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons at the same time. Screen captures are stored in the camera roll.

Everything that is publicly know about iOS 5 and therefore permissible to discuss in these forums is available here:

As I noted in my previous post, there are 3rd party solutions already available.

  • How do I save PDF files by default to the folder of the source file?

How do I save PDF files by default to the folder of the source file with Acrobat 9.0.0 Standard?

I am not seeing that behaviour. If I right-click a link to a .pdf file, I get the file saved with the original filename.
Maybe one of the settings in about:config controls that?
pdfjs.previousHandler.preferredAction is a setting that has a value of 4 with my setup. I have no idea what that means, and I could not find any explanation anywhere. You could try using different numbers for that value and see if any make any difference. Why has nobody bothered to explain that setting anywhere?
