Save PDF to iPhoto...?

I'm trying to save my book by printing / Save PDF to iphoto option but after it is finised by the pages it is not in the Album and on the right corner the little black gear keeps on spinning for hours and nothing happens. Any idea?

The method you're using creates a jpeg image file of each page of the book and imports it into the Album of your choosing. Is that what you want?
If you want a multi page PDF file of your book then do it as Daiya describes.
First make sure you can save it as PDF file as Daiya mentioned.  If you can make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and run the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - delete  the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot and the option to rebuild the small thumbnails.
Now try the Save PDF to iPhoto again.

  • How do I save a photo as pdf to iPhoto?

I know this seems like a very basic question but with the new Yosemite update it has disappeared as an option and totally disrupts my workflow.  Typically I make a document in pages then save as a jpeg in IPhoto... I can then use that in Adobe photoshop elements. .. Doing a screen shot tend to ruin the resolution. I have read in other threads about transferring the PDF preferences library from a prior OS but that is not an option for me.  My iMac is running on OS X Yosemite and is the latest iMac out there. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Here's how to get any file into iPhoto as a jpeg file:
1 - open the file in any application that will open it.
2 - type Command+P to start the print process.
3  - click on the PDF button and select "Save PDF to iPhoto".
NOTE:  If you don't have any of those options go to Toad's Cellar and download these two files:
Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
Save PDF to iPhoto 300 DPI.workflow.zip
Unzip the files and place in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder and reboot.
4 - select either of the files above (300 dip is used for photos to be included in a book that will be ordered).
5 - in the window that comes up enter an album name or select an existing album and hit the Continue button.
That will create a 200 or 300 dpi jpeg file of the item being "printed" and import it into iPhoto.

  • Problem with iPhoto save pdf to folder as jpeg

    Hello,
I made a card in iphoto '11 and when i want to transfer it to folder as jpeg it shows that cannot find Store Disk Item References. I think i need a workflow like "save pdf to jpeg" but i don't know where can i find this.
    I use mountain lion.
    Thanks
    John

Here's one way to convert get each page of the card to a 200 dpi or 300 dpi jpeg file.
First go to the card mode, right click on a page and select Save as PDF from the contextual menu.  Once you have a pdf file of
1 - open the pdf file in Preview.
2 - type Command+P to start the print process.
3  - click on the PDF button and select "Save PDF to iPhoto".
Note:  If you don't have any of those options go to Toad's Cellar and download these two files:
Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
Unzip the files and place in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder and reboot.
4 - select either of the files above (300 dip is used for photos to be included in a card, book, etc. that will be ordered).
5 - in the window that comes up enter an album name or select an existing album and hit the Continue button.
That will create a 200 or 300 dpi jpeg file of the item being printed and import it into iPhoto.
Now you can export the jpeg files out of iPhoto via File ➙ Export ➙ File Export  with Kind = Original to get the high resolution files that you want.

  • Save Pdf photo to iPhoto

Save Pdf photo received in mail to iPhoto on phone?

Follow steps 1 and 2 of this tutorial and you will be able to get a jpg file for each of your book's pages inported into iPhoto: 06 - Creating an iDVD Slideshow From an iPhoto Book.  If you don't have the Automator workflow Save PDF to iPhoto (which should be in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder) you can download it from Toad's Cellar.

  • Unable to send PDF to iPhoto

I am unable to send a PDF to iPhoto. After going through the print menu, a window comes up asking which album I wish to send the file to. Once I selected "photos"; another time I selected the option for a creating new album that I called "PDF album". A "PDF album" appeared in the source list in iPhoto. Each time the result was the same: the file is nowhere to be found in iPhoto. At the top of the screen in the menu bar, there appeared a very brief message, "workflow failed". From what I can see, the part of the process that is not working is "import photos into iPhoto".
Is there any to fix this?

I have had this computer for over 4 years, and this is the first time I have ever tried to use this option (Print>PDF>Save PDF to iPhoto). I have no idea if this ever worked.
I am able to import photos from my camera and JPEG files from the desktop. iPhoto is not able to import PDF's directly, requiring the need for a workflow. The one in question is found in PDF services. It consists of 2 actions. The first renders PDF files as JPEG's; the second then imports these images into iPhoto.
Here is how they are described in the Automator:
    1. _Render PDF Pages as Images_: This action will render each page of the passed PDF files as images.
    2. _Import Photos into iPhoto_: This action imports photos into an iPhoto album.
Input: (Image files) of type JPEG (.jpg or .jpeg), JPEG2 (.jp2), TIFF (.tif or .tiff), or QuickTime (.qtif).
    Result: (iPhoto photos)
This is the error message that I received multiple times: can't make iPhoto <class impo> type Boolean (-1700)
The error message doesn't stay on the screen long enough for me to copy it; I have had to repeat the process several times to get the essential information.
Could the problem be that the files are not being properly rendered, hence iPhoto's inability to import them?
    Are there any remedies?

  • Can you still print a pdf into iPhoto?

Does anyone know where the prompt went?  I used to prepare a document in pages with the intent of making it a JPG.  I would print it and from the print menu choose PDF then Save PDF in iPhoto.  Then I'd be able to use it as a jpg, edit, etc.
Any thoughts?  Can you still take a Pages document and turn it into a jpg in iPhoto?

It seems that that PDF workflow has been removed from Lion.  You can get a copy of it from   Toad's Cellar. There are two versions available, the standard at 200 dpi and one at 300 dpi. I use the latter when I want to use the resulting jpegs in an iPhoto book.
Place the files in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder.

  • Aperture 3 save PDF to folder as JPEG option missing from PDF services?

I have Aperture 3 downloaded from the App store in a MAC OSX 10.6.7 but the save PDF to folder as jPEG option is missing from the print menu? I do not have discs to re-install Aperture so can I add a workflow directly to the PDF services library and if so where can I get a copy of this workflow?

Hi frank, thanks for the advice, I am very new to Apple and Aperture. I think I am looking at the second print menu, I am basically trying to add text to a phot and have followed this online guide
    http://photo.rwboyer.com/2010/02/07/aperture-book-tool-screen-cast-take-two/
I can do everything except the last part which is save PDF to folder as JPEG. My version of aperture does not give me this option and I only have access to the following:
    Open PDF in preview
    Save as PDF
    Save as Post Script
    Mail PDF
    Save as PDF-X
    Save PDF to iPhoto
Save PDF to web receipts folder
    Pictures
    Edit Menu
There is no option to Save PDF to folder as JPEG and I cannot add this function from the Edit menu? Previous discussions suggest re-installing Aperture 3 but I downloaded this from the App store so do not have discs to reinstall?
    Thanks
    Mike

  • Pdf to iphoto

I want to scan a small paper photo and then put it in my Iphoto ( v. 8.1.2).  So I have been able to scan and create it as a pdf on my desktop and open it with preview on my MacMini (OS 10.7.5).  But when I try to drag it onto iphoto -- because that's where  ultimately want it --it won't go.l  Says: "The file is in an unrecognizable format."  Ideas?  Thanks.

iPhoto does not work with pdf files.  If you need a pdf file imported into iPhoto try the following:
Here's how to get any file, including a PDF file,  into iPhoto as a jpeg file:
1 - open the file in any application that will open it.
2 - type Command+P to start the print process.
3  - click on the PDF button and select "Save PDF to iPhoto".
NOTE:  If you don't have any of those options go to Toad's Cellar and download these two files:
Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
Unzip the files and place in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder and reboot.
4 - select either of the files above (300 dip is used for photos to be included in a book that will be ordered).
5 - in the window that comes up enter an album name or select an existing album and hit the Continue button.
That will create a 200 or 300 dpi jpeg file of the item being printed and import it into iPhoto.

  • HELP - Print PDF to iPhoto Workflow Failure

Hi folks - I am trying to export to iPhoto from Pages by following these steps...
File > Print > PDF > Save PDF to iPhoto
iPhoto then launches and I'm asked to select an album. No matter what option I select at this point, once I hit "Continue" I receive a "Workflow Failed" error in the upper right of my screen.
Anyone have a fix or work-around for getting Pages documents into iPhoto?
    Thanks!
    Tom

    Hello Tom,
welcome to the Pages Discussions. I can't help you to solve your problem, but for other members, it would be helpful, when you post a few details about your software versions (Pages, iPhoto, Mac OS X) and about your hardware. As more infos you post as quicker the answers can arrive without reposts of questions.

  • How do I save a pages document as a pdf to iPhoto?

I recently purcahsed a new imac and have upgraded to Mountain Lion.  Under my old system: Leopard, in Pages 07, I was able to complete a document and then save it as a .pdf to iphoto.  When I upgraded to Lion, I lost this capability.  It was my understanding with the upgraded system (Mountian Lion and Pages 09) that I would once again have this feature but I don't see that option now.  Does anyone know how I can get a Pages document saved into iphoto?
    Thanks in advance:)

Pages does not export to .png. You can export as a PDF then open the PDF in Preview & export as .png. A better way would be to select the content you want & copy then switch to Preview & go File > New from Clipboard & save that as a .png. You'll get a better result with the second method.

  • Save a pdf to iPhoto option gone for good?

You used to be able to save a pdf file to iphoto when you would print a document and in the left hand corner where there is a pdf option box, you could save your document as a pdf into iphoto, making it a .jpg file automatically.
This feature is not available in OS X Lion anymore that I can tell.
DO NOT BUY OS X LION!  It's a joke.

Like they said thanks rbii, I've never used Automator and never used the slideshow from a Book.  Great
It would be nice to copy out the photos I've used to create the book into an album so one can use them for the full slideshow or into iMovie - I think one use to be able to do that pre-Lion.
But this was great to know - making slideshows can just absorb so much of your life !
    Thanks JJ

  • Can no longer 'Save as PDF to iPhoto' from Pages

    Hi there,
As a process within my business, I create a Pages document in 'Page Layout' format. I then select File > Print > PDF > Save as PDF to iPhoto, and then am able to get the right pixel size, using iPhoto.
After downloading Lion, I can no longer do this.
I tried the option of 'Save PDF to folder as JPEG' (thinking I could then 'import' it into iPhoto), but I get the error message of 'The action "Store Disk Item References" could not be loaded because it could not be loacted. Try reinstalling the action.'
I would LOVE some help as to either work around this, or create a way to do what I used to. It really is important in my business.
    Thanks so much, in advance!

By the way, I tested a workaround creating my own worflow. It is rather simple and it took about 5 minutes.
    - Start teh Automator Application
    - Select as type for Document "Print Plug-In"
    - In the most left hand Panel select "PDFs"
    - Drag & Drop "Render PDF Pages as Images"
in the Action Panel (The one displaying "Drag actions or files here to build your workflow")
    - Select Color Model, Format, Resolution and Compression
Now again in the most left handed Panel click on Library
In the middle Panel locate the entry "Import Files into iPhoto"
and drag & drop it below the "Render PDF Pages as Images" action.
You can leave Existing Album and Events as option. Means
the document will be imported as Event in iPhoto.
Now Save the Document (File->Save) as let's say PDF2iPhoto or whatever
your like. Restart Pages and try it out.
Creat a Pages document, the File->Print Klick on the PDF Button and select PDF2iPhoto, so the workflow you created.
    Hope this helps!
    Good Luck!

  • How do I save websites to iPhoto?

I'm a freelance writer, including website content. I'd like to post the webpages I wrote in the portfolio section of my website (created in iWeb) as they appear online. How do I do that? I think I need to convert them to jpgs to save them to iPhoto first, right? But I don't know how to do that. I'd appreciate whatever help you can give me.

iPhoto has no ability to import Web sites and this is the first time I recall someone trying to use it for that purpose.
You could print the webite to pdf and then import the pdf to iPhoto.
