Save question

The file size is 4.8 before I open it in CS6. That is verified from the properties info from Windows or Bridge.
Once I open it in Photoshop and tey to Save or Save As, without changing anything, as a jpeg file, the size doubles according to the info boh from Windows, Bridge or any other program.
It is at 72 ppi res. How can I save it as is and keep file size the same?

Are you sure you used the same JPG Quality setting?
Did you embed the Color Profile?

Rotating images in iphoto & screen saver questions

hi there!!
i'm a newbie to apple discussions! too bad i didn't find out about it BEFORE i broke the cardinal rule and lost nearly my WHOLE library very comforting to see that i'm not the only one ;_
anyway, here are my questions:
1. when i import images into iphoto library, the vertical ones automatically show up in the upright position in the library. BUT when i switch to the edit window they show up sideways. the same is true when i use my iphoto library/folders as a screen saver: even though they are upright in the library, they are being displayed sideways. if i rotate them inside the edit window into the upright position, they show up sideways in my library. it seems like either way i can't win.
2. when i use iphoto library or any of my albums as a screen saver, the slideshow plays for a little while and then stops. i mean, not longer than 2 or 3 minutes long. and sometimes i won't start at all. any ideas??

What version of iPhoto 5 are you running? The iPhoto 5.0.4 Updateupdate fixes that problems.

1)How do I make the screen go black or power down instead of having a screen saver?
2)Where can I find the psychedelic screen savers used in Apple stores that look like the iTunes commercials?

1) System Preferences->Energy Saver->Put Display to sleep when inactive->set a time since you can't use a hot corner for the display
2) System Preferences->Desktop & ScreenSaver->Start SS->Never

Project save question

I did an animation from photographs using After Effects Cs6,and from previous tests I saw that if I remove from my pc. the pictures I used in the animation ...they are lost inside After Effects too.Is there a way to save my project with all my pictures in it so that if I remove them from computer that doesen`t affect the After Effects project ? Thanks

That's kind of circular reasoning - you need the files to use in AE. AE uses references and does not store any such data inside the project file. Your best bett is to run a File --> Collect Files and back up everything in a folder, but it doesn't get better than that.

Newbie save question on making a book

I assume it auto saves the book project since i can't find the save button. Does it? I am now afraid to close aperture...don't laugh. Thanks.

They act the same as projects or albums (written to database as you make them).
Close anytime you wish. The book will be there as you left it the next time you open Aperture.

SGE 2000/2010 config save question

Just had a quick ? to see what i have been missing on these switches. I have 2 SGE 2000 and 2 SGE2010 and 2 SGE 2010P switches that i am working with and whenever i reboot them, i seem to always go back to factory defaults with the exception of the Stacking status. It stays. I lose usernames, and i lose all ip config data. This is both through telnet and the web interface. I am using the save feature and once i make the configuration changes it holds them...unless i reboot the switch. To me, if this is working as designed, then it is unacceptable as i configure them at my desk and then install. I am thinking it is more that I am missing something...like the WR MEM statement for the catalyst switches i used to work on at my old job.

you need to do the following steps to permanently save your settings
go to Admin > File Management > Copy Files
click on Copy Configuration button
set Source File Name as Running Config
set Destination File Name as Startup Config
click Apply

Nokia 1661 Screen saver question

Is there anyway to extend the screensaver to over a minute? It seems to go to it very quickly. Thanks

It's an option in the Screen Saver preferences.

Is there a way to have a form created in LC8 auto save so that it is not lost in the event of a computer crash or power failure?

Yeah, I have had numerous crashes using LC8 and have lost hours worth of work.
It's hard to understand that Adobe has not fixed this problem and added an auto-save feature.

Msi MPower MAX AC Power Saver Question

In the msi bios how do you enable the power saving feature so when the pc is idle or under light load it throttles down to 1.6 ghz.I am using offset now 4.7 with +35 offset for 1.264volts.Any help appreciated.

i think he wanted freq. to drop when the CPU is in idle
if this is correct you need to enable "EIST" and "C-State" states
also you can try switching within windows power profile to "Balanced"
[in some machines when its set to high performance this prevent CPU freq. throttling at idle]

Upgrade & Save question

Does any DVD you trade in need to be in perfect condition? Also, once you receive the coupon, does it need to be redeemed that day, or how long do you have to use the coupon?

Just remember you need to include the case and the cover art. Don't bring in a disc hoping to take part of it. Coupon I hear is ending in August. Don't know the actual date though so you can use it till that date. Honestly, buy your movies while you get rid of dvds. No point in trading in more than what you're buying cause you wouldn't want to waste a dvd. Do it at the same time.

Screen Saver question

Can I configure a hot key to start the screensaver? It is not available under keyboard in the preferences.
I find using the mouse to start it cumbersome.
How about automator or Applescript. Something lke command-x?

This article tells you how to make an Automator app that will start the screensaver. It works - I just tried it. But then you would need someway to start the app using a keystroke. I know applications such is iKey and QuicKeys would work, but these are both shareware applications.

Selection variant - save as personal

Hi - I have the following scenario:
E.g.: Txn. ME51N
- doc.overview ON
- selection variant "purch.reqs"
- create your own selection screen, and save as a variant (F11 or Goto - variant - save)
Question is:
- how to make this variant personal - to prevent other users from seeing it? I have tried with "only display in catalog" - but this does not make sence for these variants ...I thing ...

Pages keeps asking me to save a document when I'm just scrolling through it

Is this normal behavior? I'm just scrolling through a document without making a single change, and Pages asks me to save it every single time. I don't remember Pages '08 having this issue.
Is it just me? I've got all of the Save Preferences unchecked and it still happens. It's incredibly frustrating that I cannot tell if a document has actual changes made, or if it's just being annoying.
Please tell me this is a Pages error and not just me.

As I have no notebook I can't check.
It seems that using the 'two-finger scroll" marks the documents as "Modified" so needing a Save.

Okay, I see what you are talking about now. My impression from your first post was that Pages kept popping up some message about saving, but apparently you are talking about the normal save question if you try to close a changed document or quit the program - right?
The two-finger scroll comment helped me replicate it, though I don't match everything you said. Here is what I find:
1. Don't have to select anything at all.
2. Does it on one page document too (it does take every line on the page so many that is a factor).
3. I'm on a 13.3" macbook so not all of a single page fits on the screen so I have to scroll (is that your situation or can you fit a single page on the screen?).
4. If I use the two-finger scroll, after about 3-4 lines, I think, the little circle icon that says the file is changed will get the dot in it.
Okay, that doesn't help much, but at least I can confirm your situation and add some other details.
If you can fit a full page on a screen and a single page doesn't have this problem, but I can't fit a single page and the problem still shows up for me, that might be a small clue for someone - Apple at least if this is a bug.

Can I have a bitmap image for the start up screen as well? and if so how do i go about doing that?
My Screen Saver question is as follows, Is their any way to get a differant screen saver other than the 2 that are on it already? could I have a bitmap image for the screen saver?
