Save Search Page

Hi
Can you customise the Save Search Page, i.e the page that appears when you want to save the search name - If so, how do you do it.
Thanks
Andrew

forgot to mention, there is this error that pops up when I hover over the Edit button:
"This control is currently disabled.  You might not have the right permission level to use this, you might need to select an object or item, or the control might not work in this context."
I am a farm administration and site collection administrator so I know I have the permissions.
I am trying to edit the Search Center page, but since the "Save" option is missing, it won't save my changes.

  • Save search state between pages

I have a webapp with two taskflows with page fragments:
    Search
    Edit
In the search you can search for entities and the results are displayed in a table. You can select an entity from the table and press an "Edit" button to go to the edit taskflow where the row is displayed in a form for editing.
On the edit page you can either commit or rollback (save and cancel buttons), both of which return you to the search taskflow.
Now my problem is that when i return to the search page it has been "reset", i.e. my search results are empty.
How can i make sure that my search results are saved and then restored when i return from the edit page, no matter if i made some changes or cancelled?
Do i have to save the thing the user searched for and then re-execute the query on the view object which the search page is based on?
or is there a way to save the actual search results (viewobject rows, iterator state, etc) so i dont have to re-execute the query?
    I am using JDevelopers 11.1.2.
Im in a bit of a rush atm, so the above description may not be the most detailed. Please let me know if you need more info.

Do i have to save the thing the user searched for and then re-execute the query on the view object which the search page is based on?Yes this is the process. However, as long as your data is not changed, the execution of the query will be done on top of the entity cache.
or is there a way to save the actual search results (viewobject rows, iterator state, etc) so i dont have to re-execute the query?Perhaps this article can provide some guidelines: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/downloads/58-optimizedadffacescomponentsearch-175858.pdf

  • Error while running OA framework Employee search page

    Hi All,
I am new to OA framework.I am trying to create a simple search page on EMP table and DEPT table in SCOTT schema.I have defined EMP and DEPT EO's and VO too.I have also defined association object. When I am trying to run Employee search page it is throwing following error:
"Error(13,8): class chola.oracle.apps.fnd.schema.server.DepartmentEOImpl should be declared abstract; it does not define method setLastUpdateLogin(oracle.jbo.domain.Number) in class oracle.apps.fnd.framework.server.OAEntityImpl"
What I understand from this error is that since my EMP table in Scott schema is not having Last update columns so Jdeveloper did not generate LastUpdateLogin method.Am I correct? If I am correct then it means that I cannot query on any table which does not have WHO columns like Last Update time,Last updated By etc... but that should not be the case.
Can you please guide me where am I going wrong?
    Regards

First of all if you dont want to save data then why you have created EO.
For Search Page, only by creating VO you can achieve the functionality. As you VO is based on EO that why it is giving error.
    Thanks

    (1) The OP is technically correct - there is no direct equivalent of  "save as".   There is "save a version" and there is "duplicate".
    (2) So far it seems that to get the same effect as "save as" you need to create a "duplicate", then save the duplicate.  The duplicate will automatically be given a name like "docname.copy.pages", which can be changed to that desired.
    (1) nobody wrote about the technical aspect of the OP's question !
    But, you wrote something wrong.
There is a "Duplicate" item, a "Save a Version" item and there is a "Save…" item.
    (2)  The reproduced help page clearly state that the first step is to trigger 'Duplicate' For the second step, it's not clear. It seems that the ones writing the Help were not informed of the definite choices made by the developers. They wrote "Save As" but never was such an item. It was "Save As…" in which the ellipsis is an important component. At last, the developers defined two items : "Save…" and "Save a Version" ( at this time I'm running 10.6.8 so I can't check if this item has or hasn't an ellipsis).

  • How to save a pages document on the ipad2

How do I save a pages document on the ipad2 or how do I print a pages document.  I have a n epson835 on a wireless network.   I can scan or print a web page  from the ipad, but I cannot print from pages. The instruction seems to require saving the pages document, but all I can do is share the document via several methods.
    Thank you
    John McDonald

Tap on the Spanner icon, tap on Share and Print, Tap on Print.
You will also need to have an Air-Print enabled printer and both the printer and ipad must be connected to the same network.  If your printer isn`t Air-Print enabled then there is a work-a-round but you will have to use google to obtain the files and instructions, do a search on google for Air-Print for PC or Air-Print for Mac.
To save a document in Pages for iPad just tap on Documents to take you back to your list of documents and the one you are currently working on will automatically save, you can then tap on the documents name to change it.

  • Firefox v. 30 won't save a page as "Web page, complete" -- NEVER

I tried to save a page as "Web page, complete" in v. 30. It used to work in v. 29. Now it never saves the original. It used to say in the Downloads list, when I did save a file, that it failed. I learned to ignore that, because the first time I would save a file, as "web page, complete," it did get listed in Windows explorer and I could open it up in Firefox and see it, looking close to the same way I saw it originally (some words are on a new line, and images are smaller).
It is most critical when I want to save a list of the journal articles I download, along with images of the check off boxes having a check mark. In v. 29, they were there. If I saved the saved page again, after checking off more boxes, it wouldn't save it but it wouldn't tell me so, either. I would have to always keep an eye on the directory listing in Windows Explorer. I learned to just save it again, and it would be saved. However, now in v. 30 it NEVER saves the main htm page of this ORIGINAL web page when I save it with the option "web page, complete," but it does save the "_files" folder for ancillary images. I now have to save the original web page as file type: "files, all," putting in the .htm as file extension. I then open it up in firefox, and none of the boxes are checked as they were in the original. So I have to recheck all the boxes again and then save it as "web page, complete". This time, the "web page, complete" works, but clearly not on the original web page. The resulting file looks like the page that got saved with the "files, all" option I saved before, but now the boxes I checked off are still checked off. I get the web page back, but not looking much like it was originally, and only after a great deal of work.
I am using Firefox 30 on XP

I appreciate your thought on this problem. Yes, all journal database searches use the same algorithm but there is something in common to all which is not present in many other kinds of web pages, e.g. PubMed abstracts or pages with just an abstract, or blog posts or news stories -- the boxes to check off (e.g. to list all abstracts and citations for the ones you choose) and the listings of links to abstracts, pdfs, supplements, etc. posted with each article description (see searches by Oxford University Press http://rspb.royalsocietypublishing.org/search and by Sage http://online.sagepub.com/search ). The links and empty check boxes get printed on the "save page" result, but any check boxes you checked off lose the check after saving the page as a "Web page, complete."
That was not the case in v. 29. In most of the past Firefox versions, the resulting page saved does not look like the original one, because of the realignment of text and links. However, now, the functionality of those saved pages is seriously compromise. Worse, there are no images. I could tolerate what v. 29 did, but not what 30 is doing.
I just found out that although the downloads tool window list of titles that appears after you tried to save a page always lists the attempt as having "Failed", you can succeed in completing some files when you click on its name in the list. Usually, as I said in the past, you just try again and it saved in version pre-28 (I think). But as I mentioned before you can't trust what the downloads tool tells you. In the past it actually finally, after another attempt, saved the page despite telling you it failed in that window. I click on the "failed" download now and it does download, but is missing any of the list of articles found on the original web page, so certainly, the result is not what you were aiming for with the "Save", "Web page, complete" choice. The main point here is that there are no check boxes, empty or filled at all in an attempt to use "Web page, complete" option in the "Save" choice for any journal database search. I can only conclude that "Web page, complete" doesn't work for journal article searches.
The main reason for keeping a web page functionality in a "save web page" option is to be able to work on it offline. I can copy the information about specific articles I downloaded to enter into my own Reference Manager program, along with the relevant links. I can carry this web page with me to a university where I can download the article without having to run a search all over again, with the strong possibility that it won't give me all the same results as I just got at home, losing some articles I really wanted to get. Saving a web page tells me what I was interested in to begin with, which gets lost if the boxes I checked off are not in what I can save.

i created a specific page from the following xml page :
    /oracle/apps/eam/workorder/webui/EAM_WO_SEARCH_RG.xml
i wanted to add a new criteria in the advanced search.
    I did it by :
    _downloading the standard VO
_adding my specific VO by extending it from the standard VO
_in my specific VO i modified the query by adding a new column
_in my specific VO i added an attribute mapping
_adding a new column in the advancedtable region with a sortableheader
_adding in the advancedsearchpanel a new criteria with 2 children (one messgetextinput and a messagestyledtext)
_adding in the advancedsearchmapping a new item
    i make a test
now the advanced search has the new criteria in the list.
i type the value i want to filter.
the filter works with the new criteria
now i want to make another test.

  • When Firefox is closed, all previous search page and home page settings are not saved. Must reset firefox and reset homepage url everytime.

All previous search engines on "Manage Search Engines" are gone and cant access the "get more search engines"...all grayed out.

Session Manager and Save session are the ad-ons which can solve your problem of saving previous search pages and url.
To set up home page and its related error You have to read this :

  • Add WHERE criterias in addition to what the user enters on search page

    Hi,
This may be a simple problem, but I have not been able to solve it.....Is there a way for me to code another search criteria in addition to what the user enters?
I'm trying to create a simple search page. Basically, user logs on, i get his acoount number and save it in a variable. Then whatever the user's search criterias are , I want to add "AND ACCOUNT = ???."
    I've tried:
In the processRequest, retrieve his account number using a VO, stored account number in variavle x and then call a initQuery(x) for the VO to get only the rows that he should be able to see. Problem A: I get 'SQLStmtException' when I test the page by trying to do a Simple Search. So to fix that, in the VOImpl, I added these two calls -- setWhereClauseParams(null); setWhereClause(null); -- after the executeQuery(). After I did this, ran into Problem B: the user could search any record that wasn't associated with his account.
I also tried to dynamically create the vo using createViewObjectFromQueryStmt("Select * from table where account = " + x) but was not successful. The page didn't render and I received a ClassCastException similar to this thread -- Re: How to Create OAViewObject programatically
I'm new to OAF and would appreciate any pointers on how to implement this.
    Thanks,
    LL

    Hi,
I assume that you haven't tried the following steps..if you have and still get an error, give us the SQL statement error that is coming up. If I misunderstood your requirement, could you elaborate.
I assume that when the user logs in you get the account number automatically.
You could define the VO to have the following where condition 'WHERE ACCOUNT=:1'.
Then you set the account id from the user using setWhereClauseParams(0,accountid) and call executeQuery. This would limit the result to that user.
This will work in addition to any other search fields that might have been used in the query.
For e.g with just the account id the sql that will be fired is
    Select attribute1, attribute2....from Tablexxx where account = :1
Any other user search criteria given in the page will result in a ssql query like the following
select * from (Select attribute1, attribute2 ...from Tablexx where accoount = :1) where newattribute like `%xx`
Hope this helps. Let us know if you still have issues.
    Thank you,
    Arun

  • Saving the result set in a Search page

    Hi ,
We have a manual search page where the results are displayed in the form of 10 columns. The first 5 are read only fields whereas rest 5 are editable checkboxes.
There is no Query region created in our page.
Suppose, fields a, b, c are search parameters and the results are as :
    | A | B | C| D |E | F | G | H | I | J |
    1
    2
    3
    4
    5
    6
    7
7 records are retrieved. Columns A to E are read only text fields whereas columns F to J are check boxes. The user can update the checkboxes.  We have a Save button below the result set region. This button on being pressed invokes a stored PL/SQL Procedure which does some validations on the result set so obtained.
Our requirement is to dump all the 7 records (after the modifications are made to any number of result records) into a temporary table . The procedure will then pick the records from this temporary table and do the required validations.
    Question is :
    1. How to store the result set so obtained into a table after some (or all) records are modified once Save is pressed ?
We do not have any EO created in our page. The VO for obtaining the Result set is a combination of many tables.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Neha

org.apache.jsp.tablasUF_jsp._jspService(tablasUF_jsp.java:68)Do you understand anyway when a NullPointerException would be thrown? Those kind of RuntimeExceptions are basic Java knowledge.
If an object is null while you want to access it, then a NPE would be thrown. Check the line of the cause which objects could be null and fix it accordingly.

  • FSCM 9.1 on VirtualBox Stuck on Search Pages

I have installed VirtualBox 4.2 on my laptop. Host is running Windows 7 SP1 64 bit, 16 GB RAM, i7 quad processor. Created a Virtual Machine using 8 GB of the host RAM, running Oracle Linux Server 5.8, Oracle RDBMS 11.2.0 and installed PeopleTools 8.52.10 and FSCM 9.1.
I can start up everything and not see any errors in any logs and I can login to PeopleSoft with VP1 userid and navigate to a component search page. But, once I click the search button the browser just clocks. It never brings up the application pages.
If I navigate to a component that does not have a search page, e.g. PeopleTools - Utilities - Administration - PeopleTools Options, the page does display. But if I make a change and hit the Save button the browser again clocks and never does save it.
I did run a SQL and PeopleCode trace but not seeing any errors in that either. Other than error messages not sure what else I might look for in the trace to clue me in to the problem.
Any ideas what it might be stalling on?

    Thank you Nicolas.
Your reply prompted me to discover the real problem, which is that I am a nitwit. I said I was on 8.52.10 but after your message I went back and looked things over and realized I downloaded but never actually installed the patch. Although, I somehow managed to update my install checklist to indicate I had installed it. Duh! So I've been chasing my tail for a couple of days now with the problem staring me in the face. Pretty sure when I really do get the patch installed that will do the trick.

Have you tried using Javascript? I couldn't remember the codes but I think you can do a search in those Javascript sites to get some samples...

  • Include view checkbox in search pages

Have you noticed that in the new EHP3 release webui search pages, there is a checkbox which says "Include View" next to "Save search As". Any idea what it is for or how this can help users?

    Hi Sandeep,
While Saving Search options through saved search it there was a standard component holds the searched values.
By using including view option in which component view you implemented search, that information will also be save.
This will be a better way of searching in EHP 3.0
    Thanks & Regards,
