Save session of Safari?

I've been switching from Firefox to Safari just recently.
I am missing one feature from firefox (actually, it's an extension), though.
In firefox i could open several URLs in different tabs, and when i quit firefox, it would save all these tabs, the url's they were currently displaying, plus the history for each tab.
Then, when i would restart firefox, it would restore all these tabs.
Is there anything possible in Safari? Maybe with the help of an add-on or applescript?
The important point with the Firefox extension is that it works automatically, so that if Firefox crashes, you can always restore the whole session.
Best regards,
Gabriel.

Saft Is a third party Safari enhancer, please check it is the right version for your os before you download it, though i believe it is.
For AppleScript the experts would be helping in this
Forum area of discussions.
Hope this helps some.
Best regards to you as well.

  • What the programs you can install to save previous sessions on Safari

I understand there is a program (or 'extension') called 'sessions' which can save previous sessions on Safari. However, I cannot seem to find it anywhere (not even listed on any search sites). Anyone hearsof this, or know its location.

  • [XFCE4] Is there a good 'Save Session' tool?

Is there an application that does what the 'Save Session' option on Xfce4 logout does, just better?
Here's the current state of 'Save Session':
-It saves how many application instances were open and their window sizes. For some applications it does not even save how many were open: Thunar!
-It does NOT save the actual desktop coordinates or desktop number of the applications.
-For thunar it doesn't save the folder locations in the thunar instances (they are all at ~ after system restart).
-(Optional, getting kinda specific here) For terminals it doesn't save which application was running in each terminal, so manually restarting them is required.

Hmm, wonder why that page talks specifically about "security patches" instead of just patches in general. >.>
(And, although this is probably negligible but still I'm curious, I wonder if the mechanism will cause a local (memory) blob, that somehow gets hacked into the system, to grow further and further, eventually requiring a real reboot, or whether this Ksplice thing really _replaces_ the kernel each time with the updated version.)
Can anyone tell about positive/negative experiences with this Ksplice thingy? I'm just a little bit scared ^^
Edit: Oh lol, forget about ksplice (except if you're an admin and get paid to use it): From ksplice-create man page "you should confirm that the desired source code change does not make any semantic changes to kernel data structures". So you need to manually download the source code of each patch and review it or something. And if you're lucky you can actually use ksplice for it, but if unlucky ksplice won't work.

  • Save-sessions-enabled not working

    WLS 8.1SP4
    EAR file with WAR file.
    CLuster of 2 managed servers.
    In-Memory Replication.
save-sessions-enabled set to true in weblogic.xml
save-sessions-enmabled doesnt seem to work. I log into the web app, do work, redeploy the webapp, and the next click in teh web app forces me to log-in again, i.e. my session is lost.
Sam Pullara had a comment in 2003 about it not working with replicated sessions until SP2. I'm on SP4.
Any ideas before I raise a case?
    Many Thanks,
    Graham.

I have checked the support site and this is still a problem in SP3. A pach was available for SP3.
Apparently, you get the problem if you deploy the app with context-root = '/'.
I have raised a case to see if a patch is available for SP4.

  • [Solved] Xfce : Want to disable save session

    Hello everyone. New to Arch.
Here's my problem. I want to disable save session feature of Xfce, but unable to do it. I also have tried,
    1. Settings manager > Session and startup - Unticking "Automatically save session on logout"
    2. Removing session cache.
But no luck. Is there any other way to that? Thanks in advance.

I Think I didn't describe my problem well in above post.
I already disabled automatically save session on logout from Xfce settings manger. Because I don't want it. But in every time going to logout "Save session for future logins" ticked. I must to untick it always on logout dialog. Otherwise session will be saved. That's what I want to be disabled.
EDIT : Never mind. Fixed it my own. Just logged in as root and removed session cache folder. [~/.cache/session]

  • Save Session Data

    Hi to all,
is there a way to save Session Data in  a Bsp application (similar to Php $_SESSION array)?
or i have to use shared object/export-import memory id  to save temp data in a session (example: Shopping Cart)?

    Hello,
you can use a statefull bsp with an application class...
The objects in the class have a lifetime over the whole session.

  • How to save sessions on Mac OS X

    Hello,
is there a way to save an entire session on Mac? I mean when I am working on a project I have all the related windows open. Then if I have to shut down the computer (I still haven't been able to solve the problem of sleep and hunger, but I am working on it :P ) all windows are gone and when I come back I have to start from scratch opening all windows as I go. It would be nice if I could simply save sessions.
    Thanks

  • SpaceFM Error - Error: Unable to save session file. Permission denied

    Hi.
I have just installed linux-rt from AUR
    https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=51360
Everything installed correctly and is working so far.
It's just that whenever I'm with a folder open (even if I dont do anything) and click the X to close the window, this error appears:
    SpaceFM Error
Error: Unable to save session file.
Do you want to exit without saving?
    ( Permission denied )
I usually click yes and nothing happens - or seems to.
If it helps, I AM able to read, write, copy and delete files.
The problem ( I THINK ) seems to be just aesthetics AND/OR not affecting me at the moment?
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance.
EDIT: In fact LOTS of issues just showed up...
    1- Transmission doesn't resume downloads.
I closed it and opened again and there were no downloads and when I tried to start them again, there was an error saying: Unable to save resume file (or something close)
2- I just logged in (at the login screen, lol) as root and ALL problems disappeared, transmission saves things again, no more SpaceFM error etc.
Anyone has any clues what is this permissions problem ?? The whole OS is new and I didn't install anything, it wasn't supposed to be happening.

i've opened many tabs that i want. When I close Firefox there are many tabs. Those tabs have to be restored when i open again Firefox. how to activate in firefox 4.o. In firefox 3.6 it is asking defaultly to save sessions.

In Firefox 4 you can always restore the previous session via Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session
You can set the warn prefs on the about:config page to true via the right-click context menu or toggle with a double left-click.

  • Xfce4 cannot save session.

    Hello,
Seems settings manager cannot save changes; whether by saving at 'sessions and startup' or on logout/shutdown. My changes to font size never got saved.
There is also the same bug with arch+LXDE/lxapperance.
I have googled and it was around for some time and no one seems able to resolve it.
    Rasjid

The design of xfce4 is "just right", but seems buggy and not usuable for me at present.
    1) Initially I could not do 'exec startxfce4' as non-root - bug... something...no failsafe session..
but somehow after I started it once as root, it could be started as a normal user.
    2) At the start of every new session, will have a "Welcome to the first start of panel." Ask to choose default or empty panel. If empty is selected and later configured, it would be lost after session exit; and repeats.
    3) Sessions Manager not working. eg. if button for save session on logout is checked, it will revert to an unchecked button on next login.
configure window manager (both) cannot run.
    4) on recent sessions, things get worst (could be me accidentally tripping something...). eg when firefox is run.
    - application window has no minimize/close (3-buttons)
    - menu/item not reachable by the mouse arrows; so cannot even access any bookmark.
    - can only close firefox through CTRL-q.
It is the same with all other applications/windows.
    LXDE-
    1) For lxde, only customize "look and feel/Widget" default font and colors not working - cannot be saved.
But still ok as openbox configuration manager working.
    2) PcmanFM cannot sort folders/files; so we have to go through the whole list in /bin...

  • Firefox should save session when only popup windows is open

When I have some window with multiple tabs open and I click close button on top, it saves the session and quits. Thats ok. But when there is some hidden popup window open (or source code) it destroys the session and leaves the popup open!!!! So the menu is gone and you lose your session. When i restart FF tabs are gone. So it should save session when only some popup windows are open.
Also it should ask what to do when i click close window, when it's unclear what to do

It is always a good idea to close a Firefox session by clicking File > Exit or Firefox button > Exit for proper shutdown.
Those pop-up windows are produced by JavaScript. JavaScript can disable certain features in the pop-up window. You can set some preferences using '''about:config''' so that those features are not disabled in the pop-up window. See:
    *How to use '''about:config''': http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config
#type '''''about:config''''' in the URL/Location bar and press the Enter key
#if you see a warning, accept it (promise to be careful)
    #Filter = '''dom. disable_window_open_feature.'''
#reset preferences you want to '''''false''''' by double-clicking on that preference in the lower panel on the '''about:config''' tab
#Preferences you can reset in this case: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Prevent_websites_from_disabling_new_window_features

  • Flash Player Update disables "restore all windows from last session" in Safari on Mac

I am on Mac OS 10.9.5, using safari 7.1.2.  Adobe Flash Player Update loses all safari windows when after update the installer automatically opens safari and just opens flash player website; the "restore all windows from last session" is grayed out in history. The "reopen last closed window" is also grayed out. It has been happening ever since and happened again when I just installed Flash Player ver 16.0.0.257.
For all other normal working situation I can close safari and reopen and see that I can "restore all windows from last session" and there is no problem.  But on flash Player install (set on manual install), the problem is annoying and costs me a lot of time to restore one by one from history.  I do not think this is a Mac or a Safari issue, but will update to Mac Yosemite help if Adobe Flash Player is updated differently in that setup?
    Please help.

Update: I called adobe flash player technical support phone number 1 877-587-1877.  They want $59 (warranty only 6 months) to fix this problem as they use a third party to solve this issue; they themselves provide no support.  Or buy the paid version.  They insist it is my network issue which I absolutely can not believe.
It is adobe Flash player update that forces reopening of safari and wracks the safari losing all windows from last session. That is not my network.  Adobe does not have a proper safari compatible flash player update.
Besides, this is a known problem at Adobe and they are not fixing it and want money to fix it one person at a time!  They also shared that 25% to 30% of the installations have this problem... wow!! and they still will not fix it in a general update!  I wonder if safari has a plug in update that can fix this?

  • Still unable to save bookmarks in Safari 5.1.2 - any clues?

Starting with Safari 5.1.1 on Lion I have been unable to save any bookmarks after an initial few hours running when it has been possible. I had hoped that the new release of Safari 5.1.2 might have cured the problem, but it doesn't appear to have done so.
I've followed all the suggestions on various posts and cleared the numerous plists and caches. This results in being able to save bookmarks in the normal manner, but only for a few hours or so. The next time I open Safari I find that I am once again unable to save any bookmarks without going through the whole rigmarole of exporting the bookmarks, trashing all the Safari preferences, restarting Safri and importing all the bookmarks once again.
It's great if you have the time and the patience, but my patience is wearing very thin by now.
Does anyone have any definitive solutions to this problem, which happens on all my Macs running Lion and Safari 5.1, thus ruling out a problem with just one Mac?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account, or is system-wide. Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select “Help” from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Any application you run will behave as if you were running it for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
As Guest, launch Safari and test. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
