Save to drafts? Mail 6.0

There used to be a toolbar button to save to drafts but now that I upgraded to "Mountain Lion" (Ooooh!) it is gone. Not in the Toolbar customization either.
Please advise thank you.

Oops ... I agree about the Message part of the menu ... sorry about that.
There are the "Move to" and "Copy to" options which do allow you to move/copy a message to the drafts folder.  I didn't realize, however, those would be grayed out while composing a message.
Thanks.

  • SAVE AS DRAFT MAIL DISAPPEARS

If I click on a mail item that has been saved as a draft in the preview window (the window below the window where the listing of mail items that were saved as a draft) it is deleted immediately and I cannot find it anywhere. This is tremendously annoying as one must remember to open the file first before doing anything to it. Failure to remember to treat drafts in this fashion differently from any other is apparently a fatal kind of error.
Is there a way to retrieve such lost drafts?
Are there plans to modify the program to protect us from our natural inclinations?

This confused me as well.  I rarely save drafts, but wanted to for a specific circumstance.  Just doing "Save", with seemingly nothing happening, goes against years of ingrained UI entrainment.

  • Where is 'save as draft' icon in Mail?

Mail Help says to click the Save as Draft icon to save a message you're working on.  But I cannot find the icon anywhere.  I know that it saves automatically anyway, and that Apple-S saves as a draft.  But, if Help says to use the icon, I would think that means there is one.  I'm so used to that icon from previous Mail versions that I would prefer it to the Command-S or just hoping the autosave works.  Anyone know if this icon referred to in the new Mail's Help exists?

    Save and send draft messages
If you’re composing a message and want to finish it later, you can save it as a draft. Mail saves drafts automatically a few seconds after you start to compose a message. If you quit Mail while an unsent message is open, Mail saves it as a draft automatically.
HideSave a message as a draft
Click the Save As Draft icon in the toolbar or choose File > Save.
You can continue working on the message at any time. Just open the mailbox where you store drafts and double-click the message.

  • Serch by Mail in Agent Inbox and save draft mail.

    Hi gurus,
    I have two questions:
1- In the ICWC, I send a mail.
Then when I go to the Agent Inbox, the search by mail doesnu2019t work.
However, if I search by service ticket or interaction record I can find the mail in the hierarchy tree, but it is not a suitable solution because I am not able to know if there is, or not, a mail.
2- When I am sending a mail, always in ICWC, sometimes I save a draft first.
    Where recovery this draft?
    Best regards
    Virginia

    Hi Virginia
1 - Firstly Email Objects are not Transaction Objects so they are managed slightly differently
Only Incoming emails are searchable in the Agent Inbox
2- The Draft Email can be located against the relevant Interaction Record or Service Ticket it was created for. It should be visible in the activity clipboard for example.
Just in case, you should not be creating draft emails for a customer which has not been confirmed yet.
    Hope this helps
    Regards
    Arden

  • How to do SAVE AS DRAFT using java mail api

    Hello,
I want to know how to do SAVE AS DRAFT using Java mail Api.
    thanks

    Hello,
I want to know how to do SAVE AS DRAFT using Java
    mail Api.
thanksI don't think you can. That sounds like a feature of a mail client app itself. The Java mail API is for when you're ready to actually send the thing. Saving drafts is storing them somewhere like you would any other data; nothing to do with the mail API.

  • Cannot 'save as draft' in Mail 5.1

Hi, I've a problem with saving draft emails since I upgraded to Lion.
Example: My wife spent a couple hours replying to a long email from overseas relatives, most of the time spent exporting/resizing large .jpeg photos from iPhoto so the attachments did not mean a huge email.
She was interrupted but not too fussed because previously the emails would be saved as drafts if she closed a message before sending it.
    But not this one.
My mail 5.1 help instructs to press the Save As Draft icon. There's no such icon on the toolbar nor is there one selectable from the Customise Toolbar option. File | Save As... is greyed out.
Mac is a mid-2010 iMac 27" quad core. Mail account is a MobileMe account that I am hanging on to until I upgrade my iPhone from a 3G (that cannot support iOS5 or Cloud).
Any help with settings or troubleshooting would be appreciated.

    Hi Nick,
I could not find the Save as Draft icon neither, but I do know that if you press Cancel instead of Send, you'll get the Save Dialog. Not very intuitive.
If no one pops in to tell where this icon is, then you should file bug to Apple Feedback: http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
Edit: couldn't find a direct link to Feedback Mail.

  • Apple Mail 4.2 - "save as draft" button

I upgraded recently to Leopard with Mail 4.2.
The "save as draft" button does not appear, neither on the toolbar nor in the toolbar palette...
Anyone could help solving that? I often use that button!
    Thanks in advance.
    JMB

It only appears on my toolbar after I've selected/created a 'New Message'. (I'm still on Mail 3.6, by the way.)

  • Mail 4.6 doesn't save email drafts

I find this to be true 90% of the time, even when Save As Draft is chosen or Mail>File>Save is chosen. I have to wait a very long time for Mail to save the email draft and soemtimes, it never does, no matter what I do. Also, if it has saved a draft, but I want the latest version to be saved, I can't get it to work or it takes a long time. Why wasn't this ever fixed?

I'm still having this issue. I was writing an email that wouldn't update to the lastes draft. So, I went into the Drafts folder, deleted the older version, chose File>Save for the newest version, and nothing happened. Waited 5 minutes, then clicked the Save As Draft and FINALLY it saved the latest version. Why does it take so long to update?

  • Mail: Save as Draft not working

Suddenly, Mail's "Save as draft" has stopped working. i get an error message saying file not saved. I have several mail accounts, and this is true for all of them. Tried Onyx fix permissions, no effect. Permissions in Library appear OK.

Check that the Program Exit cl_hrasr00_pobj_wf_exit is attached to the decision / processing step.

  • Every time I save a draft it creates a new draft rather than updating thr dradt I am working on

While writing an E-Mail I may receive a call so I need to save the E-Mail. I click save and it creates a draft which is fine. I go back to add to the draft and must save again and it creates a new draft. Every time I save it creates a new draft rather than updating the old draft as it does on my other computer

Chris, my guess is you may be confused by one or more tilde files inside the project, a project file with a tilde (~) in its name.
If the project was begun in iMovie 4, the project resides in an iMovie 4 type-folder, not an iMovie 6 package. The folder lets you see the tilde file. For projects begun in iMovie 5 or 6, the project is a package instead of a folder. And you never see the tilde file, for the package looks like a file instead of a folder.
    The problem is discussed here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1971832&#1971832
My guess is you're opening the wrong project file to re-open the project. So when you save, it's saving a new tilde file.
The whole issue is rather confusing. Check out the topic, and if you can't get it straightened out say more about what's going on there.
    Karl
PS: If you haven't yet, create a new iMovie 6 project, add something to it and save. To look inside the package, Control-click on the project (in the Finder) and choose "Show Package Contents" from the popUp menu. You will see one tilde project file and one project file without a tilde. That's ALL the project files you should ever see.

  • As soon as I type in subject line of email, it tries to save as draft and crashes.

I'm running Windows 8 on a ASUS laptop (new within the past few months). I access iCloud mail from my PC, iPhone and iPad Mini. The problem only happens using iCloud Mail on my PC.
Just within the past few weeks, as soon as I begin typing a subject line in mail, I get a pop-up question "Save this message as a draft?"
If I  Don't Save it, it kicks me out of the message.
If I Cancel it, it takes me back to the message, but asks me again with the next key stroke and keeps asking until I move out of the subject line.  So I am being constantly interrupted while I'm in the subject line.
If I Save it, it does save, but closes the message.
It appears that Don't Save and Save are doing what they are supposed to, but Cancel just takes me back to the message only to be interrupted over and over.
Is there some way to get it to quit prompting me to save a draft?

I belive the issue is with quotes..try removing the double quotes " " or try using single quotes ' ',either removing the quotes completly or using single quotes should work..let us know if it works..

  • Save as Draft Problem using library computer

This afternoon I tried to save-as-draft a LONG & INVOLVED communication in .MAC e-mail at a public computer in the library. When I went to my draft folder to ensure it got saved, it was not there. Can someone give me direction on this? I suppose it goes without saying how mad and upset I am. Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this issue.

    Hi kvs2,
You did log into .Mac mail online to check your Drafts folder there - right?
Not the Drafts folder on your machine at home...
When you click Save as Draft online, there should be a small green spinning wheel in the left side of the bar between the icons at top and the To:
Also a confirmation "Your message has been saved to Drafts" along with a green checkmark will appear and then slowly fade away in that same spot.
    Regards,
    John

  • BB is not giving me option to send but only save in draft.

I have a BB Curver 8300.  Some mails when try to reply, BB is not giving me option to send but only save in draft.
I tried deleting Service book and resending it is not working..
I took backup and then Wiped the Handel, restored the backup. Still no luck..
    Pl advice. Thx
    My carrier is LoopMobile

Only some mail? Most likely that email not giving you that option was enabled by the service book(s) you deleted.
Try sending your Service Books again.
On your BlackBerry device, go to:
    1. Options > Advanced > Host Routing Table > Menu > Register.
    2. Resend your service books from your carrier BIS site:
    From your handheld device:   http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB15402
Go to the Personal Email Set Up icon and log in. Then under Help!, select Service Books, then select Send service Books.
    From your desktop PC:  http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02830
North American Carriers - scroll down to select your carrier
WorldWide Carriers - Find your carrier on the list
    3. With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot. This reboot, even if you have already done this, is often needed to install the service books.

  • Why is "save as draft" missing

What has happened to "save as draft". It is not present when I try to customize toolbar. It was such a useful tool when one was interupted during composing email.
    David Thomas

It's no longer needed. If you are writing an email, Mail constantly saves the state. If you close the email before sending, it'll ask you if you want to save it as a draft or discard it. If you quit Mail before sending it, it'll reopen the draft when you next open Mail.
Use either the Cancel button or CMD-S to Save as Draft.

  • Pressing Save in iMac Mail Compose where does the file go

On my 27" iMac YosemiteMail app tried to press Save button in Compose mode, but can't find the "saved" file .  Where does it go.  And is there a auto-save function in Yosemite Mail?
    George

There is no an auto-save function in Yosemite Mail
After making a draft just click on the red button, Mac Mail ask if you want to save the draft,  click on Save.
