Save to RTF inverts graphics

Unstructured Framemaker 8.0 p277, Windows Vista Home Premium service pack 2
Like many I have to provide final documents in Word (2003). In my workflow I export my Frame doc to RTF (Microsoft RTF 1.6), open it in Word then save as a Word doc. Reopen in Word and apply a custom template.
When viewing the Word doc on screen or print preview everything look OK. However when I print the document ALL graphics are rotated 180 degrees. All graphics are referenced and 95% are PNG created with Photoshop 6.0 and flattened.
Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

I never found a reason for the graphic inverting behavior. However, using Mif2Go to create my RTFs solves the problem

  • Save as RTF-feature in Pages 09

I work a lot with DEVONthink Pro Office, a tool for ordering, categorizing and searching content (mostly documents for me). Unfortunately, while DTPO shows pages files and can even search them, the integration is not complete and leaves something to be desired.
Working with rtf-files, though, is no problem. Now, when I write in Pages 09, I save my working very often, I usually hit the cmd+s combination on my keyboard after each sentence I write. This, of course, does not work when you want to save as an rtf-file. I have to take the long way of selecting "Export" from the file menu, select "RTF", select location etc. I don't have the foggiest idea why Apple don't just implement a direct "Save-to-RTF" feature in Pages, just as is normal in pretty much all other word processors, but hey, that's just my opinion and, knowing Apple, I do not anticipate any changes soon.
So my question is: Is there some kind of work-around? Some kind of keyboard shortcut? Possibly an automator action?
Cheers and thanks for any help given

Perhaps the reason why the other poster suggested not using Pages for RTF export is that it can make a mess of things. You mentioned citations, and I use legal citations in footnotes. Well if I export a document in RTF format in Pages and then import back into Pages (or something else, OpenOffice or MSWord) the footnotes are a mess.
Pages does a good job (for me) exporting in .doc format, but it .rtf export function is rather awful (again for me).
If Pages does a good job of exporting documents having footnotes in RTF for you, then I would be curious as to what version of Pages you are using. I am using 4.0.4.

  • Excel 2013 save as JPG/PNG graphic format?

    Dear All,
For Excel 2013, is it possibe to save the sheet in JPG or PNG graphic file?

    Hi,
Currently, Excel 2013 doesn't have the ability to save a sheet as an image.
The simplest way to accomplish this is to select and copy the worksheet cells containing the data, chart, etc. you want to save as an image (turn off grid lines if you don’t want them too), then paste it into your graphics editor, say Microsoft Paint.
Now you will be able to save it as any graphic formats as you want by using
Save as feature in Microsoft Paint.

  • FM save as RTF -- how to keep index markers?

I have to export an FM book with a comprehensive index (from index markers) to word-processor files for the author to update for a new edition. But when I open the RTF in Word, there are no index markers. Curiously, I've done this before, and can't recall having any difficulty. Am I missing something obvious?

What's puzzling me is that I've done this before: I'm looking at Word documents from a book exported from FM with all the index markers present. I did this in February 2008, and can't remember that I'd had any problems doing it, so I assumed that it had been just a simple Save As.
But now it seems I must've done it via some workaround. I agree that mif2go will probably do it, but I'm not keen to buy it for a one-off job: I haven't got mif2go, but I have got Ixgen (http://www.fsatools.com/), and one option that seems likely to work is to use Ixgen to expand index markers to text (with a specific character format); then save as RTF; then, in the word processor, convert that text to index markers.
(It's a bit of a drag, but better than having to redo three indexes — subject, cases, statutes — when the edited docs come back to me.)
    Any better ideas?

  • All open PDFs save to RTF

Wondering if anyone knows a javascript I could run to save all open PDFs as RTF with images.
File>Save As> RTF (settings include images)
    Save to same folder
    Thanks

Yes, there is the output option, I was looking for the first command sequence.
Basically, I just set it up to a basic task that doesn't affect the file.
    Select the folder
And the output options give me the result
    Thanks

  • What happened to Save As RTF?

What happened to Save As RTF? I don't find it in FM8, though it is mentioned in several places in the online help. I hear it's not in FM9, either.

It's at the bottom of the drop-down list for the SaveAs options:
    It's also still in FM9 & FM10.

  • Cannot save as RTF in FrameMaker 9

I am using FrameMaker 9 Structured running on Vista. I am trying to save the Frame document to RTF format because some clients need the information in MS Word. After saving the FrameMaker 9 document in RTF format, I try to open the RTF document in Word, but I get the following message: "Word was unable to read this document. It may be corrupt. Try one of the following: 1. Open and Repair the File. 2. Open the file with the text recovery converter. The file is 1KB, so I don't think the RTF filter is working.

Mex, apologies for emphasizing this, but ... you need to be doing testing starting with just a bare, brand new FM file -- not using one of your existing files and not a simplified version of your existing files -- to be sure that FM is outputting just basic RTF. That way you know for sure that the RTF output is in fact working.
Assuming that does work, then you can start examining your existing files to pinpoint what might be causing the conversion to fail. You've got at least two major factors to consider, you mention having structured files and you mentioned graphics.
After that, I'd suggest making a brand new empty FM file and test just one of your graphic files. Then maybe look at your structured app and "clone" it, without content, type in some sample text and try to output that to RTF.
RTF doesn't have the same ability to layout pages as FM does, there are many things in FM that just don't work the same in RTF -- and vice versa -- so assuming that the simple tests work well then you'll have to examine the features in your file that might not be converting, one by one, in order to identify the specific problem.
For example, RTF doesn't have the same concept of a master page. Or table formats.
So establishing that the RTF export does work tells us that it's not something wrong with FM's installation and has to happen before you can know to start troubleshooting your actual file content.

  • Since updating to the latest version of Firefox (12) I can no longer save jpegs or other graphic files. I can save them with other browsers.

Firefox does not seem to recognize the graphic asset (the Save As File Type) pull-down bar stays blank. When I select the "All Files" type in the pull-down bar but that doesn't help. I've tried adding the .jpeg to the file name as suggested by another user, but this doesn't help.
No problems like this when I switch to Explorer.
    Is this a known bug?

  • In TextEdit I would like to save my files as rtf and NOT rtfd. TextEdit will sometimes let me choose, but most of the time the choice is not available and the file is automatically saved as rtfd. How can TextEdit be configured to only save in rtf ?

    Hello,
I use TextEdit quite a lot. The problem I have encountered is that TextEdit will many times save plain text as rtfd files and not rtf. Does anybody know how I should proceed with TextEdit in order to save a file only as rtf and not rtfd? (rich text with attachments). As rtfd files, the files are impossible to open elsewhere and will also not load up properly as an email attachment. TY
