Save to Web Receipts Folder error
Whenever I try "Save to Web Receipts Folder", I get an AppleScript Error modal dialog saying, "Finder got an error: The operation could not be completed because there is already an error with that name."
I've tried deleting my Web Receipts folder, but that doesn't help. My awkward workaround is to print to PDF and save it in the folder myself.
Any tips?
I'm getting the same error on my system and on a coworker's system as well. I'm running 10.4.4, while she is running 10.4.3.
I talked to a friend that was at MacWorld about this and it worked fine on his system, which had been upgraded to 10.4.4.
One difference is the two systems that failed were upgraded from 10.3.x to 10.4.x using a normal upgrade process, where on the system that worked, I know the user uses the Archive & Install process. I wonder if the systems that get upgraded aren't able to use this function. Did everyone else that is having problems notice this on systems that were upgraded?
I'll have a test system tomorrow that I can run an Archive and Install as well as a Format and Install installation of 10.4.x so I might know a little more about that tomorrow. I'll post the results....

How do I change the name of file from save in web receipts folder?
I use safari to do online banking and when I have paid a bill or transferred money and when it is complete I use save to web receipts folder to keep a record of the transaction.
The problem is that the page always has the same name so there is only the record of the last transaction for that service. Does anyone know a way to change the same of the file that is saved?Hi DPertovt,
After you download/save the file to your destination folder where you keep your records, only select the file ones an rename/chance the file name, date anything you like.
Good luck ...

Overwrite files BUG! Save PDF to Web Receipts Folder
In Safari, I will often want to save receipts of bank transactions. So I hit Command-P to print, then in the PDF menu button, I'll choose "Save PDF to Web Receipts Folder."
When I look in my Web Receipts folder, it has saved the file, but if there was already a file there with that file's name, the old one is replaced by the new one. I found this out the hard way, as my bank's page title is always "National Bank," and Safari uses the page title as the file name. So instead of accumulating receipt PDFs there, I merely had the most recent one.
This is certainly a bug: the Mac shouldn't be overwriting files without telling me. If it's going to save PDFs in the Web Receipts folder, then I should have the option to choose a name or approve the name that it generates from the HTML title.Yes I agree this is an intentional bug.
Other things you can do to get around this issue:
1) Disable the "Save PDF to Web Receipts.workflow" located at /Library/PDF Services. This is at the root level of your disk and you will need Admistrator level authority to accomplish this task.
2) After you disable the workflow you could build your own without the: "with replacing" (save file) option enabled in the script. However, I believe this will not work, as you are already in a dialog box (printer), and the script will generate an error, and prompt a dialog box for you to enter a new name. I am not sure if this is the conduct, as I do not use this workflow or "feature."
3) After you disable (or just plain not use) the above workflow: Instead create a folder in your Home Directory called "Online Receipts" or whatever memorable name you like. You can place this folder anywhere.
Next, navigate to ~/Library/PDF Services (that is the folder in your Home folder, not at the root level as in (1) above. If this folder is not there, create it.
Next create and drag an alias of your "Online Receipts" folder into this PDF Services folder.
The next time you pull up a print dialog, and hit the PDF button, you will see this newly created folder in the menu. Just select it to save a PDF of your document to it. Files with identical names will be handled by the Finder's naming convention: (eg. file.pdf, file 2.pdf, file 3.pdf, etc.) and no files will be overwritten.
I hope this helps,

Mail 3.1; Save PDF to web receipts folder
When I am mailed passwords for downloaded software, I need to save such important information in a preferred place. The web receipts folder is a perfect place in this instance. However, I can't seem to get my Mail application to successfully complete the menu chore of, "Saving PDF to web receipts folder."
After repeated attempts to get my file saved as the menu item suggests, I still can't find where Mail might be saving my receipt. The program goes through the procedure as if it is working properly yet I can find no results anywhere on my computer. ( I don't get any finder warnings, given repeated attempts to save, about replacing an existing file, either.)
Now I know this is likely to be all my fault but... Can anyone shed some light on my problem here?
I was able to successfully open and view my Mail message as a PDF file. I did manage to print that PDF file (opened in Preview) to my web receipts folder. I assume from my experience that the menu item, "Save PDF to web receipts folder," has somehow been disabled.Never got an answer!

Save PDF to Web Receipts Folder
I have performed an archive and install of Mac OS X Leopard and have upgraded to v. 10.5.1. The PDF drop-down menu appears in the Print Dialog. When I click on Save PDF to Web Receipts Folder, the command executes, but no PDF appears in my Web Receipts Folder. This function worked in Tiger v. 10.4.11. Any solutions?
Well, I think I figured out my issue for now.
The page I was trying to print had a ridiculously long title. Including spaces a total of 528 characters.
It seems that HFS+ (Which is what OS X Extended is) has a limit of 255 characters. I was not aware of this limitation, but it seems that this is common to Unix systems.
I'm not quite sure why the website I wanted to print a receipt from had such a long title, but it did.
It would be nice of there was a way to rename the file when you do a "Save As PDF" or "Mail as PDF". You can do this when Saving as a PDF from the Print Menu. If I knew more, there is probably a way to modify the workflow process that is happening to include that option.
For me, problem solved - hope this helps someone else out! -
Adobe Save for Web and Devices Error
I had a problem with Save for Web and Devices in Photoshop CS4 - and am posting the solution for anyone else that might encounter this (posted previously for Mac but not Windows). This problem suddenly occurred - and I'm not sure why. I had the most updated Photoshop CS4 version: 11.0.2.
Issue: When I tried to overwrite an existing image using Save for Web and Devices, I received an "Adobe Save for Web & Devices Error": "Could not write the file. A file system error has occurred"
This error prevented any file (originally created using Save for Web &Devices) from being saved again with the same name. I figured out the solution by finding the resolution for Mac Photoshop and adapting it for the PC version. The solution for me was to delete the following files: "Default Settings.iros" and "Recently Used Optimizations.irs" (the only two files present) in the following directory:
C:\Documents and Settings\[user profile name]\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS4 Settings\en_US\Save for Web Settings\
Note that there were other sub-directories of the "Save for Web Settings" folder - I didn't touch any of those. The problem is now resolved and Photoshop seems to function normally.Honestly, I haven't had problems with reading/writing files to/from network drives, but I have read on this forum that there are times when it causes problems for people.
And yes, if you used the command line NET USE (or the Explorer Map Network Drive) function to create the drive, it is actually using Windows Networking behind the scenes.

Save for Web default folder in PSE 11
On my Windows 7 system, in PSE 8 when I select Save for Web, it defaults to saving the image in a folder I chose that is separate from the one I used in Open.
(Save and Save As default to the folder I opened the image from, and PSE 11 works the same way even though "Save As to Original Folder" is not checked in Edit | Preferences).
But "Save for Web" also always defaults to the folder the image was opened from, even though I have started it in Admiinistrator mode and changed the destination.
That worked to change the default file type from GIF to JPEG, but had no effect on the save-for-web default destination.
Is there a way to set/change the save-for-web default folder in PSE 11?That makes sense, but it doesn't work for me in PSE11 (though PSE 8 is OK). I get the same result as yesterday, even after rebooting, which I hoped might clear any cached settings. With or without checking Save As to Original Folder, what happens is this:
- Save to Web defaults to saving the image file in the source folder;
- if I change the destination to my Web-images folder, that lasts until I close PSE 11, and not beyond;
- when I start it up again, Save For Web defaults to the source folder (with or without Save As to Original Folder, and regardless of Run As Administrator.
Looking at the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 11
I see that no files show a change in the last several days, so the setting must be elsewhere, in the registry or in C:\Users\... somewhere. Hmmm.. -
Where do I find the option to "save as web receipts"
Where do I find the option "save as web receipts" on my Mac Book Pro?
Hi,
I'm not quite sure if I have understood your question correctly but is this what you are seeking?
If it is then it's within the Print dialogue window. Simply select Print from the File menu, click on the PDF button within the Print dialogue window and select Save PDF to Web Receipts Folder -
Photoshop: Selecting Save for Web gives error: "Could not complete this operation. An unknown operating system error has occurred."
I have tried all of the solutions I've found, but none work for me or my two systems (windows 7 and windows 8.1)
Many times I get the message only when saving a web file that there is not enough memory: My windows 8 has 2 TB and 10 Gigs of ram. I took it into the shop to see if something was wrong with the hard drive or ram, but when I hooked up my windows 7, I'm having the exact same issues. Please help.
I tried this:
I set ram to 100%, I changed my preferences in editor to not run anything to do with auto analyzer, I renamed the file auto analyzer to put a space in as someone said to do... I even did the following...
Reset Photoshop's Save For Web preferences:
1. Quit Photoshop
2. Delete the "Adobe Save For Web 12.0 Prefs" file:
Mac: Users/[Username]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Save For Web 12.0 Prefs
Windows XP: Documents and Settings/[Username]/Application Data/Adobe/Save For Web/12.0/Adobe Save For Web 12.0 Prefs
Windows 7 and Vista: Users/[Username]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Save For Web/12.0/Adobe Save For Web 12.0 Prefs
Whenever I "save for web" and save something to the root of C:/ it will work, but the next time I "save for web" it produces the error. I was able to fix it by going into User Account Control settings and scaling down to "never notify." It requires a reboot, but the next time I "saved for web" it worked fine.
If you do this, be sure to change the UAC back to "default" as it is a security measure.
FYI you will have to restart anytime you tweak UAC.
To change UAC in Win 7 go to control panel>Action Center>Change User Account Control Settings and drag the slider to "never notify."Try this: press F10 or tap the Alt key to display the menu bar temporarily, then
View > Toolbars > Menu Bar
If that doesn't work, you could reset your toolbars to factory default using Firefox's Safe Mode. First, make a backup of your computer for safekeeping. To back up Firefox, see [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information].
Next, start Firefox in Firefox
[http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode], and check only the box to reset toolbars. Be careful not to "reset" anything else if you didn't back up.
Hope this helps. -

Save for Web and Devices error
Hi
I have just started receiveing an error message when I go to preview a page in a browser.
I am using Vista and have Photoshop CS4.
The error message reads "Could not complete operationg. A file by that name already exists" (see below).
Does anyone have a solution?
Many thanks in advance
LeeThanks Ricky.
The error only occurs when I try to preview any document - even new ones. It works properly when I try to save them.
I am not sure which directory the preview files are saves to - do you know? I have cleared the cached on all browsers though.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled CS4 and the error still occurs.
I have also tried resetting the preferences as you suggest - it didn't work.
Any more ideas?
Thanks again.

Save PDF to Web Receipts broken?
I hadn't noticed this, but I was trying to recreate the built-in workflow for saving PDFs directly to the "Web Receipts" folder, when I came across the fact the Automator file seems to be broken.
Under /Library/PDF Services, you will find all the workflows related to "printing" using PDFs from any app. All workflows have the extension .workflow, but not "Save PDF to Web Receipts". For that one, the extension is .pdfworkflow. I have confirmed this on both my iMac and my MacBook, both running the latest and greatest OS X.
Trying to load the flow in automator fails. Even more troubling, changing the extension to .workflow and trying to open the file gives the error:
The document "Save PDF to Web Receipts Folder.workflow could not be opened"
Any ideas when it stopped working...and how to fix it?Sorry, i don´t know how to fix it.
For me it works.
But let me tell you, that this is NO Automator workflow. In Leopard the Automator workflow was replaced by a python script. So your attempts to open it with Automator will fail.
You may like to open the pdfworkflow by clicking on "Show Package Contents". You will find the script named Tool, that you can open with a texteditor.
Maybe you have to check your permissions. One thing you may try, to see, where exactly the script brakes:
Delete the ~/Documents/Web Receipts folder and run the pdfworkflow. It will recreate that folder and save the document there.
Will the folder be recreated?

AppleScript Problem when saving Web Receipt
Hi everybody!
I bought a Macbook. Everytime I try to save receipts and invoices as PDF files in my Web Receipts folder (By pressing the Apple Key - P, and selecting PDF - Save PDF in Web Receipt), I get an error saying that the receipt has already been saved: AppleScript error (-41). When I go to the Web Receipts folder, there is nothing there...
What should I do?How can one deactivate the vault file as I think my grandaughter has been playing itunes and may have done something there to cause me not to be able to download. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou. Teresa, sorry to butt into this thread.

Save for Web fails in Illu 64-bit
I'm running Windows 7 64-bit and Illustrator CS6 64-bit latest (just updated an hour ago). When I go to "Save for Web" I get error:
The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error [CANT]
May be worth noting that I also get error "Error loading plugins. Drop shadow.aip" on startup. this appears to be an issue that Adobe is aware of and has chosen to provide no solution for as of yet. However, if there is a solution and I'm overlooking it, please advise.
This is on a fresh install of Windows 7 64-bit followed by a fresh install of CS6.
Thanks,
-billbI'm getting the same error message
The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error [CANT]
when I try to 3D extrude an object. there are several objects on the page and I have no issues performing the same task on them. just this one object. -

Hello everyone,

LIke I said, I sure hope somebody can help me out. Any suggestions would be appreciated. The only thing I could think that might be causing this is the fact that I upgraded to Maverick (Apple OSX) about 2.5 weeks ago. But this problem didn't start until about 3 days ago, so surely that's not the issue. Anyway, figured it was worth mentioning.
Please let me know.
Thank you,
Jamie Richards, a fellow Photoshop addictI found the solution (took forever to consolidate all the answers) for OS X 10.9 + Maverick. Finally!
1. Change permissions (as AOTPR says) to your User/Library/Preferences file so that your admin and user (the one you are using) has read + write permissions within the Get Info pane (command+I). You may have to add them with the sign.
2. Delete Adobe save for web 12.0 Prefs & Adobe save for web 13.0 Prefs files within the User/ Library/ Preferences folder. These may be hidden for some people, so when in a finder window, hold Option(alt) and click Go from the main top menu (keep holding Option/Alt) and click Library — the full Preferences folder should open for you.
3. Change the view when in Save for web pane in PS. If you have it in Cover Flow — it won't work. Change it to another view like List or Columns view.
Presto! Works for me on Maverick.
Thank god. It took forever to get this cleared up!!
