Save transparency in CMYK format

I just create two new documents in CMYK color space for print press.
It`s like a bio sheets with letters and a photo of mine.I want to print that in a special texture paper that i have so i want to preserve document`s transparency.
So far i see that the only format that preserve transparency is TIFF with "preserve t/p" check
Is there any other or better suggestion?
thanks in advanced!!

psd supports transparency.
But if there is type involved any pixel based file format seems like a bad choice.
Why do you need transparency anyway when you print on some particular paper?

• Transparency in CMYK color mode

It seems that one can only retain background transparency if image file is saved in PNG or GIF file format. It also seems that one cannot save to these file formats if graphic is in CMYK color mode - one must be in RBG mode to do so. How can I retain image with transparency in CMYK color?

I am starting with a TIF image in RBG color mode, a tree with grass in the background and foreground for example. I would like to eliminate the grass, make that background and foreground transparent with the background eraser tool so that only the tree remains and that when the tree is superimposed on a second image the background and foreground surrounding the tree will be that second image. In order to make the background and foreground of the tree transparent I have to save the file in GIF or PNG format since transparency doesn't seem work with TIF files however I cannot convert the GIF or PNG files from RBG to CMYK. CMYK doesn't seem work with those file types.

• 'Save As' to JPEG format (or to TIFF)

The 'Save As' command produces 20 different file format options to choose from. When 'saving as' to the default PSD format, the selection is obviously quick and easy. However I mostly 'save as' to JPEG format or TIFF format and it is awkward to make the JPEG or TIFF format selections each time.
After doing 'Save As', I have been clicking on 'Format' and then typing 'j' or 'ti' to bring up JPEG or TIFF from the menu of 20 formats to speed up the selection a little bit as compared to scrolling through the Format menu.
But it would be much easier to have a script that could bring up a modified version of the "Save As" dialogue box so that 'Save As' to JPEG format or 'Save As' to TIFF format could be executed very efficiently and without having to wade through the clutter of the 17 other file formats in the Format menu which I hardly ever use.
I have done a fair amount of web searching, including on ps-scripts.com, but so far without finding a good solution to this. Any help would be much appreciated.
Of course I have thought of creating an Action (with assigned keyboard shortcut) which saves to JPEG and another Action which saves to TIFF. However, the saved file then always ends up in one location and with the same file name, therefore often requiring the additional steps of renaming and moving the file.
Batch processing of Actions (perhaps in conjunction with the Image Processor script) is perfect for batches, especially for large batches but I was hoping for something quick and easy for saving files individually.
Thanks!
Geoff
P.S. I also tried finding a way of disabling all the 'Save As' file formats which I never use so that the 'Save As' format choices would be very few (i.e. 3 or 4 instead of 20) but have had no success there.

It's been awhile since I played with the saveAs function.
Pretty sure you have to type the file name in the save dialog
Here is a function I created for work.
I removed a lot of code from it that doesn’t pertain to this topic but the code should work
This might help you with a little more understanding and show how you can hard code where to save without even bringing up a dialog box
saveAsPNG( filelocation + filename )// usage
function saveAsPNG( where ){
var tmpFile = File(where + '.png' );
var pngOpts = new ExportOptionsSaveForWeb;
pngOpts.format = SaveDocumentType.PNG
//     pngOpts.PNG8 = true;
pngOpts.transparency = true;
//     pngOpts.interlaced = false;
pngOpts.quality = 100;
app.activeDocument.exportDocument(tmpFile,ExportType.SAVEFORWEB,pngOpts);
return true;

• Problem with "Save as Adobe PDF format" in Excel and Word

Hi
When I use printing zone in Excel and make a «Save as Adobe PDF format» (menu File / Save as Adobe PDF), the first save is well done. But when I make it a second time, what's not in the printing zone is printing in the document.
I have also problem with the «Save as Adobe PDF format» in Word. The images superposition are not well print.
I'm using Windows 7 in french, Office 2010 french and Adobe Acrobat XI standard. All is in the latest version.
Thanks

The Save As PDF feature in Office2008 Call up a PDF Creator similar to the AdobePDF Print Driver. whch OX.6 can't use.
To create Pdf you have to use method used:
http://indesignsecrets.com/acrobats-adobe-pdf-printer-replaced-in-snow-leopard.php
Not before you attempt to use this method if Rossetta is not installed. pop in your Systems DVD and install Rosetta. Then follow directions to install the Adobe Quality PDF Automator Script which will show up in the Print Menu. Click on Print > then click PDF. Then Click on Adobe quality PDF. AS for setting up Job options and other details Supposedly your suppose to have access. But I have no idea.
First thing Rosetta should be installed out of the box. and Second Adobe should install this Script from their installer. So their should be no intervention from the user. it should just work. Early report when OSX.6 first came out almost no one was able to get this to work. and I see periodic reports that people still can't get it tork and they have to to resort to saving as .ps files then droping on distiller.
Good luck.

• In Ical is there a way to save time in 24hr format?

Is there a way to save events in 24hr format? in the Iphone you can enter and save in 24hr format...

Creating a new event results in the AM/PM format.
Switching to week view leaves it in AM/PM format.
Changed the setting at iCloud, iCal in the cloud and on iPhone are 24h clock, iPad2 (3 of them) and iMac remain in the AM/PM format. Maybe it is something to do with machines built for Canada, or maybe they just haven't all sync'd yet. Going to try full shutdown of everything and power it all back up.
Thanks for the help and ideas.

We use a doc template to create a purchased part spec document and then save them as pdf formatted files. These part spec documents are also appended with the datasheets for these purchased parts. When we want to update/revise the document, is there a method, using Acrobat, to make those updates to the pdf, or must we go back to the doc template and basically generate a new document?
Also, our resulting pdf documents aren't searchable. How can we generate pdf documents that are searchable? I may want to search for a part value or name within the body of these pdf documents, but currently can't do that...very inconvenient.
Can you assist?

Not totally sure about the search issue. A lot depends on how you created the PDF and what is in the datasheets you attached (like are they graphics?). The doc portion should be searchable as long as you used print to the Adobe PDF printer or PDF Maker. For your use, it may be that the print is adequate. However, the result should be searchable (unless maybe you had a form with filled in fields and created the PDF with PDF Maker. I think the form data may be retained in form fields and the fields are not searchable. In that case, a print might be a better procedure. (it would help to know the versions of WORD and Acrobat as well as the exact process you used to create the PDF.)
If the appended data sheets do not change, then you might try opening the original PDF and then using Replace Pages to replace the file created from the DOC file.

• Can't save transparency in PNG?

I use CS6 and I have done everything stated in the tutorials on how to save transparency and I still get a white background in the result.
I've deleted the background and it appears transparent in the program, I save for web and select transparency (PNG24) in the checkbox but the result it still the same. It is driving me up the wall.
Do I really need to get a separate program to set the transparency?
My document settings already include setting the background as transparent. Why isn't it transparent?
I save it like this and the result is a white background. I cannot use this sprite.

Hi All,
I have logged this issue with reproducible steps.
The Bug number is 211097.
Thanks

• Save transparent background images to have transparent desk thumbnails with Photoshop 2014

MacBook Pro 2.7GHz 10.9.5 16gB Photoshop 2014
I need to create new desk images with a transparent background. Whenever I try I get a white background. How can I create a transparent background?
Are there any other Adobe 2014 apps that will save transparent backgrounds?

That is a normal response when saving jpg files. Confirm thet effect with Tif, Psd and Png and if you are coming up with a white background when saving a file with a transparent background it may be time to reset Preferences for a possible remedy.
To reset Preferences:
If Photoshop is already open on your screen, close it (Quit). Then hold down Shift+Ctrl+Alt (Win) / Shift+Command+Option (Mac) on your keyboard and start Photoshop.
A dialog box will pop up asking if you want to delete the existing Preferences file (the "Settings"). Click Yes in the dialog box. The existing Preferences file will be scrapped and a new one will be created.

• Save as no ico format in photoshop after in stall

Hi everybody:
i have problem with the photoshop CS5, i want to save as to ico format, so i download the iconformat.8bi file from internet, and take it to the plus-in / file formats, and then i open photoshop but not any change, so please help me, thank you.

Since you mention .8bi I'll assume you're on Windows.
If you have a 64 bit variant of Windows, make sure you have stored the ICOFormat.8bi plug-in file in the 32 bit folder and/or the ICOFormat64.8bi file in the 64 bit folder, and are running the appropriate version of Photoshop (32 vs. 64 bit) to use the particular plug-in file you've stored.
If you're intending to use the plug-in into the future, probably it would be best to install both.
32 bit plug-ins folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6\Plug-ins
64 bit plug-ins folder:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)\Plug-ins

• Does Adobe Media Encoder save/export in swf format?

Does Adobe Media Encoder save/export in swf format?
If yes how?
Thanks

SWF is not a video format. That is why the Flash Video (FLV and F4V) formats exist.
The are very inefficient ways of making SWF behave in some ways like a video format, such as creating a SWF file that uses a sequence of JPEG or PNG image frames, but such files are enormous and have other problems. After Effects has this option, which was created before Flash Video (F4V and FLV) formats were invented, but that does not mean that a modern video encoder like AME should add this very obsolete feature.
The way that people create video for Flash Player is to create F4V or FLV files. You can embed or link those in a SWF file using Flash Professional.

• Output files in CMYK format

Currently using Elements 7 and I want to output files in CYMK format. Contacted Adobe and was told to upgrade to Elements 9. Will this actually work? I cannot find any reference to CMYK format in Elements 9.

No it will not work. You need full Photoshop (CS5)

• How to save diagramm in HTML format or PDF it

how to save diagramm in HTML format or PDF it

You have two alternatives. First of all, there are many utilities, some of them free that can put a "printer" on your printer list that really writes a PDF file. The one I use is free, called CutePDF. Once you have one of these installed, saving to PDF is as simple as print the diagram, choose the printer associated with your utility, then name the file.
I'm not sure if it is in your version of Designer, but all of the latest versions of Designer have a "publish diagram" utility. Just drop down the Utilities menu from the RON or the Design Editor. The bottom selection should be "Publish Diagrams...", which will open a dialog window. Choose the diagram(s) you want to publish, select Publish to File, enter a file name, and select a graphics format from PNG, GIF, JPEG, BMP or TIFF. You can easily add the file to an HTML page inside an <IMG> tag.

• How to set pages to save files in msoffice format (docx) by default?

need to be compatable with outside world... have current version of pages.

The native document architecture for any version of Pages is not .doc/x, but .pages. It cannot be configured to save in the MS Word format by default. If you must be truly compatible with the outside world, then use Word from Office for Mac 2011, which does save natively in .docx format.
