Save video with contrast adjustment?

Hello!
I've searched for this on many sites, and can't seem to find an answer, not even in the Quicktime manual. I am using Quicktime Pro 7.4.5, and have a black and white music video. I need to bump up the contrast slightly to make the black darker. I can achieve this in the Audio / Video settings for playback, but is there a way to save the video with these settings? I've had no luck doing so, so far.
Any help, or another way to achieve this would be helpful!

A/V Control settings are not saved with the file.
QuickTime Pro has some built in filters but that would require an export. You don't want to compress an already compressed file.

Reinstall Safari 5.0.6 for Leopard
Then restart your Mac. Try Safari.
If it crashes again, uninstall the Flash plugin then reinstall new > Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Quit then relaunch Safari. From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info.
If the box next to: Open in 32 bit mode is selected, deselect, quit then relaunch Safari.

Can't save videos with Quicktime Pro

Hi, I was trying to watch the new iPhone 3.0 OS presentation, but it couldn't stream properly. So I wanted to download it so I could watch it later without buffering etc. But when I save it 'as a qt movie' or 'a qt source' it saves as a maximally 3kb .mov file. And when I play it, it streams again. So I don't understand how it isn't downloaded fully.

True "streaming media" files in QuickTime format can't be saved to a local machine. All you can save is a "link" (your 3KB file) to the source.
Many of those Apple presentation files (Keynotes, for an example) are available for download at the iTunes Store.

DVDs are encoded into MPEG2, which iMovie cannot edit. So you need to convert the DVD back to something else. For highest quality, I recommend that you convert the DVD to Apple Intermediate Codec. There is a free tool called MPEG Streamclip that will do this. You will also need to install the Apple QuickTIme MPEG2 Playback Component.
Here are the details.
1) Download and install the Apple MPEG2 QuickTime Component ($20) - available online from Apple.
2) Download and install MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5 (free).
3) Start MPEG Streamclip
4) Insert your DVD into your Mac. If DVD Player or Front Row starts automatically quit those.
5) Open a Finder window. Navigate to your DVD to the Video_TS folder.
6) Drag the .VOB files from the Video_TS folder and drop then into MPEG Streamclip.
7) If MPEG Streamclip offers to fix timecode breaks, say yes.
8) Use FILE/EXPORT TO QUICKTIME to convert the files to Apple Intermediate Codec (or h.264 if you prefer)
9a) Optional: You can deinterlace your footage in this step, if you like
9b) optional: If you know the date and or time of the footage, name your file
clip-yyyy-mm-dd hh;mm;ss
(let mpeg streamclip provide the extension). This will provide metadata that iMovie will use to put the event in the right year and month.
9c) Optional: If you don't want to make one huge clip out of your DVD, you can make smaller clips by using MPEG Streamclip. Move the cursor to the "in" point of the clip, and press i. Move the cursor to the "Out" point of the clip, and press o. Then do steps 8 through 10 and repeat until you have done this for all clips you want.
10) Save the resulting file in a place where you can find it, like your Desktop.
11) Open iMovie.
12) In iMovie, choose FILE/IMPORT/From File and choose the file you saved in steps 8, 9, 10.
13) iMovie will generate thumbnails and you can edit.

Welcome to the Apple Community Diane.
I find that shared video can be troublesome, a few haven't appeared to work as you describe but have done when I've looked at a later date. Hopefully they will work if you give them a bit longer. perhaps it would be a good idea if you make sure they are working before deleting them from the camera roll.

I noticed that AS3 is able to take a snapshot out from a webcam & save it as a .jpg but is AS3 capable of recording a video with a webcam and save it to a local disk/network server? any video format is fine with me as long it can be played with window media player...

Hi dmennenoh - did you check the web version only? Sorry didn't see your earlier post.
The video encoding quality is x2 smaller there on purpose to achieve quick encoding in web Flash Player. So when encoding 800x600, it encodes at 400x300. This scaling can be set to any value though. The web version is really agressive to keep realtime encoding in Flash possible. You've got to realize that there is an entire video encoder almost in AS3 (more precisely its AVM2 bytecode which is more optimized than normal AS3 but executed by the same virtual machine as other Flash scripts). Even simple jpeg encoders in AS3 had problems with speed and had to be rewritten to Alchemy...so imagine how video encoder does in terms of performing.
That's not the case of AIR extension though (which also my lib includes). The FlashyWrappers AIR extension is provided as ANE compiled into native code. So recording there is at full resolution(1:1) and much faster even.
Naturally FMS / Flash webcam solution (if you're looking for webcam recording only) would be better using normal Flash Players libs, because they are calling native code, like my ANE, so therefore they are faster and can afford to record at higher resolutions etc. The reason I created the Flash plugin wasn't to be better than FMS but provide a video encoder which can be used to do anything, not only recording webcam. For example to capture Flash stage if you need to capture workflow/animation/gameplay in Flash game or feed it custom bitmaps etc. You can't do that with Flash / FMS, or even in AIR.
As for the earlier question you asked about Canon camera API, not familiar with their API's, but sure, in theory it would be possible to create an ANE for that and send the images to Flash. Not sure why you're having crashes...if you're interested let me know at [email protected], I can take a look.

Save a video with trasparent background

is there a way in after effects to save a video with trasparent background? i know that only mov and avi supports it...
but how can i do this in AE?

im following some video on YT but everyone say
create new composition
write something on the screen
render the video using alpha + rgb but they don't show results...
if i remove the background deactivating the transparent grid, when i render the video if i open it i will have always my background... even if i choose another BG colour if i render following these tutorials i will see always my background...
can someone post here a guide or write a little guide on how to write something on a trasparent layer that will be saved on a trasparent layer?

Looking for Help on How To Save Video as Divx File

Can someone help? I have iMoive 4.0.1 and I need to save video clips as a Divx file. I go to the "share" button and try to compress the clip for Quicktime and choose expert settings. This gives me a list of options including Divx AVI. When I choose this option, the file is turned into an .avi file not a .divx file. ANd there is no other Divx choice available. I have talked to another iMovie user (v4.0.1., too) and--the odd thing--on his option list he has Divx (not Divx AVI). So I need assistance in either finding another way to do this with my existing 4.0.1. or finding a plug-in that will allow me to save as a Divx file. Or--if no one can tell me how to do this--let me ask if anyone out there knows whether iMovie HD 5.0 or iMovie 6.0 would allow me to do what I need to do. Thanks.

Divx isn't a standard option, so you have downloaded some third party support for Divx. Try the latest version.

Strange behavior when I try to match a mpeg2 video with the menu size image

hello all,
got a strange behavior when I try to match a mpeg2 video with the menu size image,
menu size is 1920 x 1080 (photoshop file)
mpeg2 video 1920 x 1080 (1second 19 frames)
the idea is to go from the menu link to the next sub menu with a video as transition, using the same image on the video as the menu and then zooming in (in my case through a door) to end up after the zoom in the next level menu.
I try to achieve a smooth change from the first play menu picture to the video image into the next level menu picture,
everything works good but when I watch it on the preview mode on the left and right side of the video it shows a black bar at least 15 to 25 pixel wide, that means the video image appears smaller and it causes a little jump what is preety disturbing and can not be sold as a professional work.
why encore treats the video size and picture differently?
it's gratful appreciated if somebody who got experience in a transition I mentioned obove posting any solution,

I'm having a very similar problem with Encore. My menu items are distorting (a minor but infuriating squashing top and bottom) when previewed.
Using Encore,PS,AE CS4
DVD format SD PAL DV widescreen
I created 3 menu frameworks and 3 video transistions to link them in AE. On the final frame of each transistion in AE I saved the frame with Composition>Save Frame to> Photoshop Layers. In PS i added the button functionality and saved.
In Encore I use Dynamic link to import AE transistions as timelines and imported each PS menu twice, once as "menu" and once as an asset.
When I link the timeline transistions to the menu and preview at the point the menu begins the whole image is squashed. When the next transistion is activated the image returns to its original size.
Thinking it was the use of PS that was causing the menus to distort I used the menu asset directly in the time line. Obviously no menu functionality but also no distortion. The AE transistion flowed straight into the "menu" just as I expected.
In the properties panel the menu Aspect Ratio 16:9
The AE transistions PAR is SD PALwidescreen 1.4587.
I did try the Blu Ray suggestion above but the same distortion was apparent.
Any suggestions short of squashing the video to match the menu would be welcomed.

Unfortunatelly, something’s not working fine on Flexplayer during the last cupple of months. A lot of updates have been released lately and the problems persist. Since iOS 6 was on the air, the problems became even worst. It’s a shame, but I think it’s time to change the app we are using. The alternative I found is 8Player, it works fine, similar to Flexplayer (but nicer interfase), and the best is that it supports “.flv” (not sure Flexplayer did). You can save your files to your hard disc using iTunes and then transfer them again to your idevice, once you’ve installed 8Player. I hope this helps. Bye bye Flexplayer!!

I am using Windows 7, and ISP provider is AOL 9.5 dialup.
When I attempt to save emails with graphics to My Documents,
any graphics, usually in body of email as a bitmap or jpeg file, when I reopen email from My Documents, the graphics appear blank, as if a broken/torn page. Is there some settings I need to adjust on Firefox to be able to save complete files.

I'm not a Mac user, that's my caveat, however there is a button on the ribbon for SharePoint Document Libraries on the Library Tab called Connect To Office.
If that works with Office 2011 you'll start seeing your SharePoint site as a place where you can store documents in Office.
Otherwise, you need to click "New" in teh library itself and have SharePoint open Office for you.

Poor quality image with doing videos with photos/images HELP!

I bought Adobe Premiere Element to make videos with pictures. When I do the video, the quality of my photos is good. When I save the video on my computer or I download it on youtube (example) the quality of my photos is extremely poor. Why? Does anyone can help me? Thank you!

What Project Preset did you choose at New Project? In the case of Video, composed of Still Images ONLY, you would set that to your desired delivery specs. Not so, if you are also using Video. I tried several types of parameters. Some parameters give poor quality when I upload it to Youtube (for example) and others in the design of video and upload to YouTube. So which settings should I use for photos only ?
This sounds like you are talking about the Export/Share settings for output to YouTube.
What I was asking is what did you start off with, when you were at New Project?
If you are doing an SD Project, you will have either 720 x 480 (NTSC), or 720 x 576 (PAL) pixels in the Project's Frame Size. If that is what you want, then I would Scale your camera original Stills to 640 x 480 (for NTSC), as you have Square Pixels, and the Project will have either 0.9 for NTSC Standard, or 1.21 for NTSC Widescreen).
PrE can Scale the Still Images, but the Scaling algorithms in Photoshop are much better, and offer more control.
Now, if you wish to do an HD Project, just choose that as your Preset, and then use the Images in about their original size. Note, there will be some black borders, as the screen-caps most likely have a different Aspect Ratio, than a Video Project, which for HD will be 16:9. Especially with screen-caps, that are pretty low resolution to begin with, I would NOT do any Scaling, and would live with the letterboxing, or pillar boxing, rather than Scale and effectively Crop.
Also, when Scaling in Photoshop, I do not Save_As JPEG, as it introduces compression, but only as either PSD (Photoshop's native format), or PNG.
