Saved a file, yet it's gone!?

Typed an entire essay, saved it as "untitled 7," which caused Pages to close. When I try to locate "untitled 7" IT IS NO WHERE TO BE FOUND!? Please help, paper is due tomorrow! Thanks.

So this was your seventh essay, not a bit of one either, on the subject of "Untitled".
Did you randomly dump it anywhere in particular, or did you carefully consider where you saved it to, so you would know where to look?
This has all happened on what? A Mac, an iPad, your iPhone?
Running any particular OS?
Any idea what version of Pages?
Assuming this is on a Mac have you looked under:
Menu > File > Open Recent
or
Menu > Apple > Recent Items > Documents

  • How do I prevent AE from saving .AEP files in the wrong folders?

    I've been using AE heavily for about 6 months, and it has this really pesky basic Windows UI problem that makes life quite frustrating. I work on lots of projects that I maintain sequentially numbered in their respective folders. Typically in Windows when you choose "Save As" windows defaults to the folder the current file resides in.  For some reason After Effects defaults to the last folder I saved a file in, which often times is not the folder I am in. So I end up with project files from projectA stored in the projectB folder.  This leads to version control problems when members of the team can't find the most recent version of projectA and so they start working on the previous version of ProjectA and later on ask me where all my changes are.  I want to believe that AE has a checkbox in preferences somewhere that says "make save-as feature operate like every other windows program" - but I haven't found it yet.  Does anyone have any advice on this topic?

    I think you are operating on wrong assumptions - a project is just a reference to other files plus some internal data, so it doesn't exactly make sense to maintain endless lists of absolute paths, given that you can import things back and forth in a million ways. What happens as soon as you import a project into another one? What, when you collect files? What happens when you re-import pre-rendered files? A "same origin" policy would be riddled with tons of issues to figure out the logic as to what the user actually wants to do and which path is the correct one.... I've never missed any such feature.

  • Saving a file in jpg max resolution (12) PH cc

    Hi there,
    Recently I've changed my laptop and re-installing Photoshop CC in its last version.
    When I gonna save a file as JPG automatically it gives me back "8" like quality of image and not "12" . In the other Mac it gives me back all the times 12 and there's no problem to do mistakes saving a file.
    Is there a change to do into sets-up ?
    Mac user.
    Cheers
    Mattia

    A workaround is to use File->Save As...->Change the file type to JPG->Save, a JPEG options window should come up, just move the slider to the far right, or type in 12 into the box to the right of the slider.

  • Saving a file as .eps gives user an ID 5000 error on a Mac

    I have a friend that is having a hard time saving files as .eps in InDesign, Illistrator and PhotoShop when using a Mac.  She is able to create the file and save it so she should have full ownership and read/write rights to the file.  Yet when she opens the file, edits it and saves it again, she gets a pop-up stating "Cannot save the illustration.  You do not have enough access privileges - ID 5000".  The user is the owner of the file.  How would she not have access privileges?  When she saves the file as an .ai, pdf, or jpg, there is no problem.  She also has no problem saving the file on a Windows PC.  What could be the problem?
    Software version :  CS6
    Device: iMac, 3.75 Ghz Intel Core Duo with 8 gigs RAM
    OS: OS X 10.8 with all of the latest updates

    No, using EPS is narrow minded as it is an old outdated file type which does not support transparency nor color management. That means you will loose information and quality eventually. There is no reason to save as EPS today.
    I just love it when these "discussions" come around and the forum isn't busy. It is sort of like driving by a train wreck—cannot stop myself from taking a peek.
    Look, there are reasons for exporting to EPS even in this day and age. Ever work with people in India? Not picking on India but that is where the greatest number of requests I get for providing EPS files. Being the dumb SOB that I am, after I get turned down when I ask if a PDF or an AI file would be a better format, I just give them what they want.
    And besides. Want to stop having to tell people to stop exporting to EPS format? Open a request to Adobe and tell them to stop supporting that format for both import and export. Until such time that Adobe sees the wisdom of y'alls argument in dropping that file format for both import/export, why not attempt to throw a little help in with the adamant Stop message, eh?
    As for the OP...try having the user save to their local drive and move it to the server. Not a great solution, but it usually works.

  • 'Recovered' Muse website not loading or allowing saving/closing file.

    Serious frustration here.
    Muse quit on me and when I went to open up my website file, Muse opened a file named "my_original_file_name - Recovered". Which is great and I'm certain this has happened before. So I begin editing and adding to my website, putting in about 5 hours of work.
    Something I noticed was that in the plan view all my pages have the "loading-circular symbol" and every single page had (and has - still have site open for fear of losing all my work) it, yet I can still open the pages and edit them and close them. everything works fine when editing pages, widgets and all.
    The problem is that I do not have the option to save my site when I go to file because the only option I have is "open recent..." all other are grayed out. I have even tried closing the entire program and it asks me if I want to save and I hit yes and assign the file to a new file name and the file never saves and the site never closes....as in the location where I saved the file doesn't have the file and the website just sits there with all the loading page symbols in plan view.
    Other questions I have are:
    If I force shut down, will Muse automatically save and updated recovered file from this recovered file?
    Is there a way to make my individual pages in plan view stop showing the constant loading circular swirl symbol? (seems like the problem why File > Save and all others are grayed out.
    Again I have put a lot of effort in this site and I don't want to force quit for fear of losing work. I am going to leave my Adobe Muse site open in the above described state until someone has some insight for me lol.  It has been in this state for about 2 hours and I've checked my windows task manager and it shows Adobe Muse as "Running".
    Thanks to anyone who actually read through this and any insight you may bring,

    Hi,
    I'm not sure what is going on here, but it looks like a bug. Can you send your .muse file and your Edge Animate file to [email protected] with the subject attn: Dana and a link to this thread? You can use Adobe SendNow or SendThisFile if the file is over 20mb.
    Thanks,
    Dana

  • Can I get back a file that logic deletes... Well I did but I had thought I saved the file under a different name?

    Hi. I have been using logic pro on the computer at music school... A Mac pro... Anyway, I was recording a friends band. W got some awesome takes down. I was then doing a little post, saved the file as one name and then stared working on it under a new file name. Anyway, logic came up with a splash that asked if I would like to delete the original file, and I clicked yes, as I thought I had saved the session under a different name just earlier. Anyway, I lost everything. Ok... Shirt I thought... But I managed to find everything in the recycle bin. Except one awesome take of an awesome song, I am a little bit heart broken as I've gone though the sessions undo file in quite some detail, but I seem to have lost it. I have access to the file on my Mac at home (MacBook pro, and logic express 8 I think) cool that I can open logic pro files in logic express, but anyway. Anyone want to offer me any solace? I think a solution might be too much to ask for....

    If you were using OSX 10.7 then you could go back to a previous version, but you have overwritten the file.

  • Saving a file directly from Photoshop into Aperture

    I am interested in saving a file while in Photoshop back in to Aperture. Proposed workflow:
    Load digital file from camera into Aperture>Drag file to CS3; edit/print>save new file in same folder as the original in Aperture.
    I would like to do this directly- I can save the edited file in CS3 to my desktop and then go to Aperture and import the file from my desktop but this seems arcane to me. Anyone know a direct route?
    Thanks in advance- Jay

    BUT, you must save the Photoshopped image using Save (not Save As using a new name or saving to a new location) so that a Photoshop file is saved back in the Aperture library. It would be nice if you could use the Apple-Shift-O to open in Photoshop, and save back as a Jpeg automatically, but we're not quite there yet.
    Those full size Photoshop files will swell your library size pretty quick, which is a good thing; you'll begin to appreciate non destructive editing more fully

  • Can't open saved Illustrator file

    Hi Adobe Community,
    I just recemtly installed Adobe CS4 on my work pc and it works perfectly except for one problem that I noticed when saving a document.
    The saved file doesn't have a default program listed to open it and has an icon as such: .
    Fortunately I'm able to open it when I open it through ilustrator but I want to get the saved files to open when you click them.
    Thank you.

    What are you saving them as?  For instance, Save As > EPS or Save As > Illustrator Document?  When saving, make sure you have "Preview" selected in the Save dialog box. The image you show looks like a "Preview" problem.  You say you can't open the file, yet you can in Illustrator!  Also, take a look through your Preferences and see if you can select Preview there ( can't recall if you can or not ).  You might also try some maintenance routines on your machine.  You never know what could crop up when you do some maintenance ( on a Mac, you can check Permissions, not sure what you have available for your PC ) and OS ( operating system ).  Hope this helps.

  • Saving Image Files on Disk after drawing lines on the Image

    Hi guys,
    I am presently working on a swing project in which I need to draw lines on a image and then store the modified image in .gif, .jpg or .bmp file format.
    I can't seem to find an documentation dealing with this situation.
    Any help will be highly appreciated
    Abhi

    Ive just been looking for the same. Theres an article (and a class) on javaworld on subject of saving bitmap-files, and in another thread in this forum, a guy described how to make jpg. with the jdk1.4 .... Like this:
    int w = comp.getWidth();
    int h = comp.getHeight();
    BufferedImage im = new BufferedImage(w, h, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
    Graphics2D g2 = im.createGraphics();
    comp.paint(g2);
    g2.dispose();
    ImageIO.write(im, "jpeg", new File("foo.jpeg"));
    im.flush();
    Im just referring, havent tried it yet. Good luck.

  • TS3991 Can not open any of my iCloud saved, TextEdit files

    I only occasionally use TextEdit but have been saving my files to iCloud recently.  All acesses are between my Mac and iCloud.  There are no other devices accessing these files.  Yet today, I can not open any of my iCloud files.  TextEdit always returns "Document <file> could not be opened".  That's it.  What can I do?
    I am running 10.8.4.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Possibly a temporary situation, give it a little time before doing anything drastic. Do you use Time Machine or any other back up facility.

  • Saving spool file / Entry not in queue

    I have been working in Logic 9 on a project origunally recorded in PT and having no prioblems.  Not doing anything different that I know of, but now I can't Save one song (out of 8).  I get the message Saving spool file / Entry not in queue.  Any ideas how to Save this (very valuable to me) work?  Thanks.

    I went ahead and installed the update on my "domestic" 10.6.2 system and to my surprise the core audio driver does seem to work and I was able to play songs from iTunes via my 003r for the first time in over a year! I'm amazed... I haven't tried it with Logic yet, I'll do that in the morning!
    Personally I think it's a pretty lame strategy on Digi's part to always put out flakey, unreliable and under-performing core audio drivers.. It's obviously possible for them to be much better - just look at the low-latency performance and reliability you get when running ProTools with its own hardware - so the hardware itself is clearly not the problem. And then when you look at how good core audio drivers can be, such as with RME or Apogee and many others, it makes little sense that the Digi ones should always, without fail, be temperamental and just plain dodgy. It seems to me like they do it on purpose.. They put very little effort into making their hardware work as well under core audio as it does as native ProTools hardware, probably in the hope that people who use both will get the impression that ProTools is sooo much better and more stable.
    Honestly, if they handed over the specs to the engineers at RME, there's no doubt in my mind that there'd be core audio drivers for Digi hardware that would perform perfectly, not crackle at low buffer settings, work as an aggregate device and not have stupid crashes or audio dropouts and whatnot when switching between applications.. And they'd probably pull it off in a week, as opposed to Digidesign's glacial pace of getting updates out there, which is pretty much the slowest in the industry..

  • Saving a file but it's not deleting the stuff I trimmed.....

    Help!!
    I've got two movies in Quicktime, one of them I selected part of it, trimmed it and then saved the file, the new file was smaller than the original, about the right size it should be when the extra stuff was deleted... BUT... I've tried trimming the other one and whilst it does indeed create a new file with the unwanted stuff trimmed out it is the same Mb size as the original file... you can't see the deleted stuff yet the file size is the same.... all very baffling.... I'm totally new to doing this so sorry if this is a really dumb mistake!!
    eMac   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    I get the same result if I trim a file and then use "Save" instead of usng "Save As," and choosing to make the movie self contained. With Save the file length is not changed, while usng Save As results in a smaller saved file. Note that I am using QT 6 so the problem seems to have been around for a while.
    The "save" option only rewrites the file contents -- not the container itself. On the other hand, the "Save As..." option creates a completely new container which only contains the current data. Think of this as opening a quart bottle of milk, drinking three cups of milk, then closing the container, and returning it to the refrigerator. The bottle still has a volume of one quart even though it now only contains one cup of milk. On the other hand, if I had poured the last cup in the bottle into a "new" container just large enough to contain it, the volume of this new container would only be one cup.

  • While saving a file, I have converted all my files to Pdf.  The only way to restore previous is to delete Adobe.  Does anyone have a soution?

    While saving a file, I have converted all my files to Pdf.  This made everything inaccessible, even Explorer.  I had to delete Adobe to get back to some of the previous files.  I tried to restore system to previous, but I kept getting a pop up message that said I did not have enough shadow space.  Does anyone have a solution?  Greatly appreciate your help.

  • When saving photoshop file in PDF, my document changes, how do I solve this?

    Hello everybody,
    Im trying to save my CS6 files as PDF documents. When I save my files as PDF some texts or images disappear or deform.
    Is there anything i'm doing wrong?
    Is there a setting I need to change for saving my files so they don't change?
    Thank you for your help!

    Hi,
    Which operating system and version of photoshop cs6 are you using?
    You can find out the exact photoshop cs6 version by going to Help>System Info from within photoshop and looking at the very first line that says Photoshop Version.

    Hi There,
    The subject header just about says it all. This is the first action I took with MAX - it is a fresh install. The file I wanted to save was still written and the FP seems to be working ok. However, I need to know what happened.

    Hi,
    I did a research on your error message and it seems this problem was introduced with MAX 4.6. This version switched to a new error reporting mechanism and reports even errors that are which are not critical to your task.
    These errors typically show up as "unexpected" and if your error falls into this category have a look to this KB for further assistance.
    If it doesn't fall into this category, your could try to go back to the MAX 4.5 or 4.4.. Of course you would need to reinstall some components and might not be able to use newer drivers at all.
    Let me know.
