Saved data seems to be lost--can it be recovered?

Yesterday I revised an ongoing article and saved it with all the new input (footnotes, etc), closed the file but left the G5 in sleep mode, in case I wanted to do any more revision. Today when I went to finish it, everything I had added yesterday was not there. The file had reverted to a version I'd written two days before. Is it lost forever? And--what did I do wrong?

Also, check your AutoSave folder (yourname > Documents > AppleWorks User Data > Autosave )
Files in AutoSave are named with a string of numbers, so you'll have to open them to find out what they are.
CAUTION: You have ONLY ONE OPPORTUNITY to save each of these files.
The AutoSave files will open as an Untitled document. If there is any chance you will want the particular document, Save a copy (with an understandable name) before you close it. When the document is closed, the original AutoSave file will be automatically deleted.

Without a backup there is no way to recover data.

If I go tot this window on finder and enter Time Machine I can go back and find old notes...
If so, am I doing this on my new hard drive on on the time machine? When I do this on the time machine, what is "my home"? Also, I am unable to find "containers".
If I go to users/jeff/library, then I see components, compositions, contextual, etc, but not containers.

After the last update of itunes I seem to have lost all the music that I had downloaded from my Cds. It was a lot of music! All I still have is the music that I had purchased in the itunes store. And before you asked. No, I did not have a backup. Never got around to do it.

Hi - I seem to have a similar problem. I was prompted to update to iPhoto 11 yesterday (don't know why yesterday, I'm in iPhoto all the time). So I followed the instructions, library updated, all existing events and albums are there. I uploaded some more pictures and created a few new albums and did some new year spring cleaning, moving stuff around etc. And I started making a calendar.
I've opened it up today, my calendar is still there as are all the new events, but the pictures are empty outlines. If I open up a picture I just get the "!" but I can still see the thumbnails showing in the slider in the bottom - I don't know if that means the source files must still be there somewhere, or if it just means it captured thumbnails yesterday.
I've gone into it via "show package contents" and there just don't seem to be any masters for an upload yesterday. I also just had a look in the last import folder, because of a comment from someone above. As I scrolled down through the folder the images were there and literally disappeared in front of me - by which I mean, the thumbnails were there as I scrolled down and then would turn into empty outlines...!
All my old folders are still there, thankfully (although they're of course the ones that are also all safely back up).
Although I have a timecapsule, my photo library is too big to keep on my hard drive, so I keep it on an external drive - so it only gets backed up when I do it manually (thanks Apple for that, I will never understand why it was designed to work - or not work - that way). So if the pictures have been lost then they are gone for good which is super-frustrating (I just got back from South Korea and was in the middle of sorting out all my shots from that trip). It seems that this can only have happened because of the update - I should have known better than to have pressed yes.

Adobe upgrade - lost all saved data on pdf form. Help?

I recently spent weeks completing and revising a very lengthy and important application form (pdf). Upon submitting it I was told that the data could not be viewed and that I needed to update my Adobe to the latest version (11). Upon doing this I lost all saved data on the pdf forms, I wasn't pre warned about this and am extremely dissapointed as it tooks me ages to find all the information and re-word it to a high standard. Is there any way that it can be recovered?
I thought it would be in my sent emails but that is blank as well. Help?

If you used an earlier version of Reader before it would only have been possible to save the filled-in information in the file if a special right was applied to it by the authors, before you received it. If that right was not applied then you should have seen an error message saying that the file can't be saved with the data you entered.

I clicked on the applications tab, and almost all my apps were unselected. I let it finish, and when it was done, I only had about 10 apps left. I reconnected it to the computer and selected one more app to put on my ipod, and it didn't bring all the saved data with it. I have now lost a years worth of stuff. I tried restoring from backup, but the latest backup was from after it deleted all apps. Anyone know how I can get all my saved data back to my ipod? Also, why would it get rid of all those apps. I know I didn't deselect them.

Have you failed to maintain a backup copy?
You should never update without making sure your backup copy of your computer is up to date.
You can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod to computer: File>Devices>Transfer Purchases

I will address your second question.
First, make sure your iPhone and iPad have absolutely identical Apple IDs. If they do, use that Apple ID in Settings > iCloud on your iPhone to select the "Notes" option. Lo and behold, all your iCloud notes should appear on your iPhone.

I lost my sync key when my harddrive was wiped, so how do I get a new sync key without deleting my saved data?

I synced my firefox bookmarks so that I could reupload them if ever my computer got wiped, so I don't have a second device with the sync key on it. I made the mistake of only saving the sync key on the computer. I just got my computer back from the shop and they wiped my operating system without asking. Now I don't have my sync key and the only way to access my sync account requires that I change the sync key and delete all the data saved on the server. How can I get access to my data?

Sorry, without your Sync Key your data is worthless, it can't be de-crypted, and creating a new Sync Key will wipe it from the Sync server.
BTW, the Firefox Sync service isn't meant for "backups", it is meant to synchronize your Firefox data between different "devices". Any chance you had more than one device setup with that Sync account? If so, you can use the Sync Key from that device.

I don't think you're on iOS 5, I think you're using iOS 6. That's the latest version.
Unless you've used iCloud to back up your documents, you won't be able to restore them. And for future reference, you don't have to uninstall Pages to update your iPad anymore. Sorry about this.

Premiere Elements 12 crash, lost all saved data on a new project.

I was working on a short project that had many video and audio clips. About 3 hours into the project Premier Elements 12 crashed. Now It will not open the saved data. It simply tells me "An unknown error occurred while opening the project" Am I SOL? Is this what I should expect as a regular from Adobe? More importantly, is there a method to recover the project? I am a new user to Adobe Elements and video editing in general.

I've attempted to update the software. When I open the program up and go to the Help tab and Check for Updates, it tells me that it is already up to date. I've noticed through screen shots that other users' icons say 12.1 Mine does not and I still have performance issues while trying to render or upload.
My computer runs high end games at max settings, so as far as I can tell, my computer works fine. I would like to understand these updates further before I continue to analyse the issues I am having.
