Saved movie trailers crash iTunes 11.1.1.11

iTunes 11.1.1.11 on my ThinkPad X230 with Win7 64bit crashes. I can click and watch a movie trailer in iTunes fine, but the same trailer downloaded and saved will crash iTunes if I click on the saved trailer. If I try to just play the saved trailer with QuickTime Pro 7.7.4, it opens QT and starts playing without crashing QT, but also without a picture or sound.
I have followed many instruction on the Apple Support Forums, made sure that all my ThinkPad software/drivers are up-to-date, and the same for Win7, I uninstalled iTunes and all of its components as per the support instructions and did a clean install of iTunes 11.1.1.11 and QuickTime 7.7.4.
What gives? What am I overlooking? Everything else in my iTunes seems to be working fine.
Does anyone know about the MSVCR80.dll problem and how to fix it?
Here is the crash report:

Hi Brenden,
Thank you for your reply and the suggested article. Unfortunately I still haven't been able to solve the problem.
Here is where I stand now: I have followed every possible lead and Apple Support instruction I could find-- all software is current and up to date, as are my drivers, I followed uninstall and reinstall instructions to make sure everything is clean and functioning.
Everything works fine on my computer and my iTunes except some .mov files crash iTunes.
A downloaded and saved iTunes movie trailer (720p and .mov file) crashes iTunes (as documented in my previous post). If I try to just play the saved trailer with QuickTime Pro 7.7.4, it opens QT and starts playing without crashing QT, but also without a picture or sound.
My question is: why does iTunes play the trailer fine but the same trailer downloaded and saved crashes it when I try to watch it? If I open iTunes in Safe Mode, it doesn't crash iTunes but there is also no sound or picture.
I have other .mov files on my computer that play fine in QuickTime and iTunes, while others play fine in QuickTime but crash iTunes. All my mpeg-4 files play fine in iTunes and QuickTime.
I have now spent so much time trying to solve this problem that it really bugs me .
I'd appreciate all help in finding a true fix. Searching the various forums for the different platforms revealed that other users have the same problem (for example msultan22071: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5292773?start=0&tstart=0).
Thank you!

  • HT204370 can i download movie trailers in itunes store

    hi
can i download movie trailers in itunes store

You can't download the trailers, you can only view them in the store.
If you have an iOS device and are in the US (I'm not sure it it's available anywhere else) then there is a Trailers app :
    Features:
    • Access hundreds of movie trailers, clips, behind-the-scenes featurettes, and images, available in HD or SD
    • Explore an interactive, year-long release calendar that helps you plan when you'll be going to the theaters
    • Save favorite movies and theaters for immediate access anytime

  • Jerky playback of movie trailers within iTunes

When I try to view movie trailers within iTunes itself, the playback is jerky. It pauses and stops before resuming.
This is repeatable on two computers (Mac Pro and a Mac Mini), both running the latest version of iTunes and OS X Snow Leopard. I have a DSL connection
Yet, if I use a web browser (Safari) to go to trailers.apple.com/trailers/ , the playback is fine. Which makes me think that there is some setting within iTunes. But I cannot find any setting to change.
    Any ideas?
As soon as I post this message, I'm going to boot up in OS X Lion and see the results.

When I boot into OS X Lion, the playback is fine. I reboot into OS X Snow Leopard, no change (that is, the jerky playback continues).

  • Some downloaded movie trailers on iTunes don't play

Hi, I'm one of the people who loves to download trailers onto my computer.
Recently I've been having issues, about 80% of the new trailers when I download them, won't play.
They stream fine online but once I have the file on my computer, it shows Black Screen.
Also, Trying to play the files on apple tv, it won't even load to begin with.
Does anyone have solutions for this? Thanks

  • Can't play Movie Trailers from iTunes Store!

I am wondering if anyone knows why I cant watch free movie trailers on the iTunes Store? It follows as far as letting me choose the size of the trailer cilp I want to watch but after that nothing loads up! the top half of the page is blank! Also I can't watch movie trailers from the apple website through the quicktime option. Yes, I do have Quicktime. Please Help.

I figured it out, it was just that I needed to upgrade my Quiktime player. Quicktime 7 and I can watch all the movie trailers!!

  • Can't view movie trailers with iTunes 7.1

I am trying to view trailers. I click the "view trailer" button, a screen appears telling me it's loading, it goes and goes for awhile. Then, it appears that the screen changes for a split second and has a preview window in it, but then instantly reverts back to the initial screen with no trailer window in it. I've tried changing the prefs to not view until the entire file is loaded (both enable and disabled this with same results). The System Prefs > Quicktime > Streaming is set to Automatic. I've repaired permissions and quit and restarted iTunes several times. This occurs repeatedly with the same trailer and with 3 other trailers I've attempted to view. This is the first time I've ever tried to view trailers using iTunes, so I have no previous experience with which to compare. Any suggestions?

I have tried viewing trailers on all 3 of our Macs and found the following:
Macbook Pro (Core 2) - won't play trailer
iMac Intel (Core 2) - won't play trailer
Macbook (Core 2 Duo) - WILL play trailer
May be coincidence, but interesting the Core 2 Duo computer is the only one with which I do not have the above problem.

  • I was watching movie trailers in itunes and now I can hear it but the screen is black

I was watching trailers while waiting for a movie to download in iTunes and now the trailers have sound but I see no images.
    Help!

I think the key word here is "was". You can try a reset. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone should reboot. If this does not work, then it is possible that the hardware has failed. Make an appointment at the Genius Bar at Apple or the Authorized Apple Service Provider.

  • Importing movie trailers into iTunes

I have never encountered this problem before, but when I attempt to send a movie trailer onto my ipod, the "connecting to the iTunes Store" screen comes up, but then an error appears that says
    "itpc://www.apple.com/trailers/home/podcasts/pc-2111.xml?ign-mscache=1"
    "Application not found"
    And then is followed by:
"Internet Explorer cannot open this helper application for
    itpc://www.apple.com/trailers/home/podcasts/pc-2111.xml?ign-mscache=1."
"The protocol specified in this address is not valid/ Make sure the address is correct, and try again"
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

when I attempt to send a movie trailer onto my ipod,
    How are you doing this?

  • QuickTime movie trailers crashed

If I try to see a movie trailer from the Apple site, after few seconds, it crashed. It stops to run but it's possible to ear sound until the end of the clip. If I try the same using FireFox, everything it's good. Thank you.

I have a similar problem. Safari stalls (spinning beach ball) once I go to the Apple's Movie trailer site and want to see a trailer. Happened just now. I went to <http://www.apple.com/trailers/#section=justhd> clicked on the Movie "The Seeker", the page loads (blue bar at the address field loads to 95%) than it stalls until I kill Safari after some minutes. This happens on both, iMac and PowerBook.
    No problem with Navigator 9.

  • Playing rental movies freezes / crashes iTunes. Someone working on a fix?

.....or is this just a random error? Don't think so since there are a few more with the same problem.
I’ve been waiting for a solution to this problem since iTunes rental was started, but obviously there’s not enough “complaining“ about this error! Well here’s one more try! I hope a few more people start complaining so that this gets fixed.
When I try to play a rented movie I am asked the usual question about the 24 hour policy and as soon as I press OK, just when you think the movie will start playing, the screen turns black, or gray as described by others and our friendly beach ball appears. No sound, no picture, nothing! iTunes simply freezes forever until you force it to quit, or turn off the Mac.
After that the rented movie appears as it was never played in iTunes, the 24 hour runtime didn’t start counting, but the 30 day clock starts ticking.
There is of course one thing I observed, my MacBook gets extremely loud which would lead to increased processor activity, which I usually don’t experience except if I run many resourceful applications at once. As soon as I force iTunes to quit this is back to normal.
*Everything else, bought movies, TV shows, music, etc. works perfectly without any error or problem.*
Of course I got a refund from the iTunes store, but no indication why this problem occurred and most important how and when it will be solved.
This happened on a MacBook 2 GHz Intel Core Duo with Mac OS X 10.4.11 with updated software including iTunes 7.6 and Quicktime 7.4. But as far as I can see from other posts this is not limited to certain Hardware, because many different systems including Windows users have the same problem.
Things I have tried “inspired” by other forums:
*1. Updated and checked for new updates several times.*
*2. Completely removed Quicktime, downloaded and installed latest version from Apple.*
*3. Bought music to check if iTunes account has problems.*
*4. Different firewall settings, turned firewall off during play! Yes firewall is back on.*
*5. Monitored activity and firewall during play without any obvious problem.*
*6. Played movie with and without internet connection, cable and wifi.*
*7. Played movie with Quicktime, didn’t work error “authorization required”.*

I too downloaded the update to Quicktime, but it did not solve my problem. After much pulling out of the hair, I found a fix for myself. It may help someone else. This is what I had to do:
    1. Make sure that movies are set to play in a seperate window (found in Edit/Preferences/Playback.
    2. Open iTunes (DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PLAY THE MOVIE FROM iTUNES). Instead switch to the mini player mode (found under Advanced).
    3. Open your movie folder where the rental is. The movie folder is usually found in My Documents/My Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Movies. Right click on the rented movie and select "Play". It will open in a regular window, but you should be able to click on the control for full screen at the bottom of the play control. I hope this helps someone else... I have tested it three times and it's worked every time.

  • ITunes Movie Rentals crash iTunes

You read that right. Every time I try and play Live Free or Die Hard on my computer, iTunes freezes and ultimately needs to be Force Quit.
I can't get around it. If I were a gambling man, I'd bet the bug lies in the fact that my iTunes Library lives on an external hard drive rather than my ~/Music/iTunes folder.
Doesn't really matter where it lives, Apple needs to fix this.

I hear ya. I've been looking for info and fighting this white screen freeze up for too long. I thought this was due to the fact my library lives on another internal drive other than my startup disk. Not the case, i transfered my movie over to the startup disk and it still didn't work.
Apple should have not let this be a problem...and yes... fix it!

  • ITunes Movie Trailers App for Australians

I loved Frontrow on my mac.. and when i updated to Lion I lost it... I always go to the Itunes trailer area on itunes... I saw this app yesterday and thought awesome.......
but guesswhat..... it's like most things ..... Australia is the forgotten ugly duckling.... Books and tv shows and movies which I could buy from the US Itunes store arent availbale here in australia...
    what a joke...
Its a digital world apple.. and we speak english down here... what ever is available in the  US should be available here
    grrrrrr
hopefully someone will agree with me ... try downloading I am number 4 book from Ibooks... in the US 100% ok here in Australia nope..
How can I get iTunes Movie Trailers?
iTunes Movie Trailers is available in the App Store.
In which countries is iTunes Movie Trailers available?
iTunes Movie Trailers is only available in the United States.
    what the??????

I feel your frustration.  However, this is not Apple's fault, but rather the owners of the rights to TV, Movies, Trailers, Books and so on.  Until a deal is negotated Apple just can't release that stuff world wide.  The same has happened in Canada and the UK (where thye speak English also).
In a similar way the BBC iPlayer app can't be used outside the UK.

  • Movie Trailers

Has anyone else had problems trying to download movie trailers from iTunes store?
What happens with me is that when I have found the trailer I want to download I click "Get Movie", as you do with any other Movie, TV Show or Music within the store, but when it downloads the file size is only something like 27Kb and I cant play any of the trailer.

There's no solution as far as I know, since Apple changed the way trailers are accessed through it's site (apple.com/trailers) and itunes, If you try to download and you get a weird 20 to 50 or so kB file, that's actually the htmfile of apple.com/trailers since Apple has disabled direct linking to their trailers. so for example this link to avatar 1080p trailer: [http://movies.apple.com/movies/fox/avatar/avatar2009aug0820a-tsr_h1080p.mov] won't work, and will instead send you back to the homepage at apple.com/trailers and right-clicking and save as, will, as described above get you a weird named file (depending on browser) that's actually an htmlfile (from apple.com/trailers) with either a name like "Pv+meMQw.html.part" on firefox or in the case of Safari (when pasting the url into the Downloads-window) something like "trailers.html" or "avatar2009aug0820a-tsr_h1080p.mov.html".

  • How can I get movie trailers out of Podcast Library?

I recently started watching movie trailers in iTunes - it's great fun. I decided a good way to keep track of movies I'd like to watch is by downloading the trailer. However, some of the trailers are showing up in my Podcast Library - I really don't want to see them there. They have the right genre - Movie Trailer - and I don't know any other tricks to get them out of there. Does anyone know how to do this?
    Thanks!

Open the enclosing folder, choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu, and provide Library as the path.

When I open itunes to play content I've already purchased and while attempting to view trailers for movies in the itunes store, I receive a generic error message from windows, and I'm directed to reinstall the latest version of itunes.  Not a fix.  Help?

after perusing other subjects with playback issues:
    this is the fix:
-Launch Control Panel - Double click Quicktime, If you do not see quicktime, look on the top left side of control panel and switch to classic view. This will then allow you to see Quicktime.
-Now click the advanced tab and click on Safe Mode GDI Only, Apply, then ok.
