Saved over file, need to retrieve previous version

Simple and stupid mistake. I wrote an essay for grad school applications titled "help." This was saved and complete for a Chicago school. A Univ. of Denver essay topic was very similiar, so I opened up "help" and beefed it up and personalized it to Denver's specific question. So, of course, what did I do... I just hit save. Stupid me, now I don't have my original "help" for the Chicago school, only the Denver school version. I already went ahead and "saved as" a Denver Essay. But now, I just have 2 copies of the same thing.
-What I need to do is revert the "help" back to the previous version before I saved it last. Is this possible, or was it auto-deleted as I saved? Please, any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi -
I just hit save. Stupid me, now I don't have my original "help"
Usually when you save a file with the same name as another, OS X will prompt you asking if you want to over-write the existing file. If you didn't see this dialog box appear there may be a chance that your other 'Help' file may still be around. Use spotlight to search your entire drive for all doc's titled 'Help' ...I may have been saved somewhere else.

need to restore previous version of firefox
I have lost my passwords, and no longer can save open tabs on exit. I don't have time to wait for a fix.

To revert to the previous secure version which is 3.6.17, please do the following:<br><br>
#Go to [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html Download Firefox v3.6.17] and download it to the desktop.<br><br>
#Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to "Mozilla Firefox" and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (''don't checkmark the box'').<br><br>
#Then reboot and delete the folder called "Mozilla Firefox" at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox<br><br>
#Finally run the installation file you downloaded to the desktop earlier.<br>

I had two laptops stolen and the reinstall is a real pain. This also applies to reformats and changeovers to Windows 7, etcetera.

Windows 7? Then don't waste your life minutes fumbling with an Acrobat 8 - Windows 7 combination.
If you are to be using Win 7 you'll need the current release of Acrobat (XI). "X" will function but it is no longer marketed by Adobe.
    Be well...

  • Need links to previous versions of Folio Producer Tools and Folio Builder

Got stonewalled trying to view a folio that had been updated using Release 18 tools on the iPad Content Viewer (2.2). So, I need to reinstall previous versions of Folio Producer Tools/Folio Builder.
I'm aware that the issue is Apple has not yet approved the latest Content Viewer (2.3). In the meantime, I need to keep plowing ahead on a previously built folio, which means using older versions of the tools.
Can anyone help with links to previous versions of the Tools and Builder?
Sorry any redundancy. Posted the message below on a post earlier this morning:
Any ETA on Apple's approval of the new Content Viewer for iPad? Hoping very soon.
Currently working on a folio that was started with pre-Release 18 tools. We updated tools on one computer to Release 18 this morning, made a few tweaks to a single article, then updated it to the folio.
As you predicted, Bob, we can NO LONGER VIEW the folio on our iPad Content Viewer (2.2). And our Enterprise license is still in the works so we can't build a Custom Viewer.
Anyone have a link to pre-Release 18 downloads to reinstall the old Builder panel and Producer Tools on this computer? Or any other ways to circumvent this problem?

Thanks, John. Still not out of the woods yet.
Uninstalled Release 18 Folio Producer Tools and Folio Builder Panel. Downloaded and installed the AdobeDigitalPublishing Patch-All.dmg from here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5226
Now, when I open InDesign, I get this prompt ...
And I can no longer access Folio Builder (Window > Extensions > Folio Builder). However, the download site for the patch says that the patch includes the Folio Builder panel:
    Any solutions?

  • .band files not opening from previous version

I copied my .band files from another mac and cannot open them when copied to my imac running GB 11.  Not sure of the version of the older GB software but but the O/S was Mac OSX10 and the previous version of GB.  A GetInfo on the .band files says they are GB Projects on the new mac.  But when I try to open with either GB 11 or Logic I get a "The file couldn't be opened" message.  Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hey,
I'm currently using LabVIEW 8.5 at my laptop to program, but at my lab we have LV 8.2. I'm having the following problem:
I save a vi with LV 8.5 in a previous version (8.2), and it sends me a warning wich says:
"Fixed-point numbers are not supported in the previous version of LabVIEW. They have been converted to double precision numbers."
When I try to open it with LV 8.2, it gives me the following messages of error:
    Load Error: "Improper Format".
    Load Error: "Unknown Error".
LabView Generic Error: An error occurred loading "file.vi" . LabView load error code 24: This VI cannot be loaded because it is broken and it has no block diagram.
    Thanks in advance,

  • Do I need to uninstall previous versions??

    Hello,
Do I need to completely uninstall previous versions of any CS2 (Bridge, or even After Effects 7 Pro) before installing After Effects CS3?
    Thank you!

I'm having the same error message, too. AND I've already tried the cleanscript, several times. All the way to level 4. I still get the same message. And adobe support is absolutely useless. I tell them that Safari 3 beta seems to be a very predominant problem when installing CS3 and they tell me that there are no records of this occurence. Well, threads don't lie, honey. Your customers are pissed. And you know what's even worse? I HAD CS3 installed on my Mac and then something happens in Photoshop, tells me to uninstall then reinstall, and that's when this starts happening. Only the problem jumped to the rest of Adobe's applications and they told me I had to reinstall them, as well. Now, after running multiple scripts and erasing previous versions of Photoshop, I still have nothing.
And what's even more ironic is those people who got a hacked version of the apps and didn't have to go through any of this. Soooo... what's the incentive to purchase from you Adobe?

  • Photoshop Elements 12 saving over files without asking

Open a picture in Elements 12, on Mac, do a Save As, give it a name without an extension, and save.  It will save the file and add a .jpg at the end.  Then open a different file, do a Save As, give it the same name as you just saved the other file with, without an extension, and save.  It will overwrite the existing file you saved first, without asking, and add .jpg to the name again.  I have lost all kinds of files, and I dont know which ones, by PS Elements 12 saving over them without warning me!  BUG!

Oh, and while you're in there delete:
    com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 paths
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 settings
There's a saved application states folder at the same level as the Preferences folder. Delete anything in there for PSE.

  • Numbers Files: How to see previous versions

How do you see all previous versions of the files

If you are using Numbers on the Mac and you have a document open, try this (in your File menu):
If you don't have a document open (perhaps because it refuses to open) you can use Time Machine.
In Finder hold down the option key and Go > Library > Mobile Documents > com~apple~Numbers.
Go back in Time Machine on the folder and 'Restore' the version you want.

  • Having trouble saving over files in right location.

When using Adobe Illustrator CS5 mainly but other applications too.
I am working from a server, say there is folder A, B, C and D.
I open up a file from folder A, amend it etc and go to save over that (cmd-shift-s - i use this as it previews correctly rather than hitting cmd-s where it will preview only a bit of the artboard) and the save dialog box will either show folder B, C or D or will just Downloads or Documents for example - basically it will want to save anywhere other than I opened it from!
This is a pain because if I am working on 4 or 5 files making small amends and just quickly wanting to save over them and get onto the next one I have to then navigate to where the file is, even though I opened the document from there.
I have experienced this problem ever since upgrading to Mavericks!
Also, the Save box is tiny! I always have to expand it to see the folder contents etc
Hope this all makes sense and appreciate any help you can offer
Please note it doesn't help either way if I use Save (cmd-s) or Save As (cmd-shift-s). My colleague is also experiencing the same problem since upgrading to Mavericks.
    Thanks

Ive just posted this but have been directed to this thread...
Recently updated mac to Mavericks and a few teething problems to say the least, a few quirky bits in the adobe software programs which Im asking if anyone else is experiencing.
Open a file in illustrator, save as, click to the new window and file where i need at saved and the window totally disappears.
To 'save as' I have to save the file to the desktop, click the folder and change the name. Unable to 'Save as' to a different file as well.
Not the end of the world but irritating!
    using Creative Cloud
Im also having problems with indesign, importing an image to an image box and the window vanished - having to drag and drop from desktop to layout.
Help and suggestions from Adobe please?

  • Do I need to uninstall previous version of Logic Pro before I install Logic Pro X?

    Basically what it says above!?

You don't need to delete the previous Logic Pro version before installing Logic Pro X. Logic Pro X is a new version and won't replace the old Logic Pro version, so if you like Logic Pro X and that's what you need after testing it, remove the old Logic Pro

  • Bridge CC - Cannot Open Files following Uninstall of Previous Version

I recently updated to Creative Cloud (Windows 7). Today I unstalled CS6. Following the uninstall, I can no longer open a .psd, .ai or .indd file from Bridge CC. I receive an error from Windows that the CS5 version of Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign cannot be found (see example below). I can open the files directly from the CC application. I can also open .psd files from Mini Bridge.
RAW files (.cr2) open in ACR without problem.
I can open a .psd directly from Windows Explorer into Photoshop; the same with .ai files in Illustrator and .indd files in InDesign.
    I cleared my Bridge cache.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Because it is correctly programmed to follow your specific, express instructions you set as far as file associations.
As far as other applications of any of the suites, well…
Here's my boilerplate text in this regard:
Inconsistency between or among applications in the artificial "suites" should come as no surprise.
The "suite" concept is a fabrication of Adobe marketing and bean-counting types.  The engineering teams are totally independent of each other, they are not only in different buildings but in different cities and states of the American Union, even in different countries.
The fact that they have little if any communication among them is highlighted by requests occasionally made in these forums by top Adobe engineers to let the other teams know when there are problems in one application that impact our workflow in another one.

  • Do I need to uninstall previous version of Firefox before installing new version?

I am worrried about installing new version (3.6.13 ) since old version (3.0.15) is working o.k. Can you advise?

When you install a release version of Firefox (current version is 3.6.15), it will by default replace the existing version. There is no need to uninstall the old version first.
