Saved  PDF won't display base color

In Illustrator, I save a vector clouds with a blue backround. However, once saved as a PDF, the blue sky doesn'y appear. Just the white clouds on a checkerboard backround appear.
I have checked, the layer isn't locked.

Is the blue background on a seperate layer? If the layer name is in Italics you have the the layer option for print unchecked.
By default the print layers option is set to visible and printable. This setting affects PDF output. You can change that to visible layers.
In any case test to see if this is a layer related issue and if items on the layer with the blue backgorund show up transparent.

  • PDF won't display correctly after being sent from iPad/iPhone

    Hi,
Wondering if anyone can help me, we have a PDF come in to one of our users outlook accounts, it opens fine on the computer. However, he has then proceeded to forward this to a colleague through his iPad and when the colleague opens it on their computer, it gives an error message 'Insufficient Data for an Image'. From here the PDF doesn't display correctly, whereby it only shows when scrolled halfway down the page, when you scroll back up all information dissapears as though it were a blank page.
FYI the software we are using to open the PDF is Adobe Reader, which we updates to the latest version to test for this issue. In short, when opened on the local computer it works fine, but as soon as it is forwarded from an iPad it won't open properly (the document opens fine on the ipad before it is sent). I have also tested this through my iPhone and i get the same issue.
Can anyone help? Thanks in advance!

Any chance that a Microsoft Exchange Server is in the mix? Could depend on what version of exchange is used.
You will need to try a work-around. Apple seems slow on fixing this issue.

I'm having problems with a PDF I'm generating, I'm using the presets, never have had the problem before, but some of the pages won't display, there's only a white page. Has anyone else had this problem before? How did you work around it?
    Thanks!

Here is a GoogleDocs PDF of the particular PDF I'm having issue with: https://docs.google.com/fileview?id=0BzFhXCwCx4SzZDhiN2FjZWEtM2IyNS00Njg4LWI5NTQtNTc5ZDVlM GNhNWVk&hl=en
Yes, it PDF's on it's own.

  • PDFs Won't Display

I have a new iMac and it won’t display PDFs, as for example my tax return and bank statements, though if I can download them they display normally. I have Adobe Reader X version 10.1.2. I have this problem with any browser. With Safari the display is just a big black (and otherwise blank) window. What's my problem?

Does this KB article describe your issue?

  • New Quad-G5 with Apple 30" display WON'T DISPLAY THE COLOR BLACK???!!!!

Just got this system up and running with all my software and for some reason if I show video with an all black screen there are blue lines tarnishing the image. If I let the computer go to sleep and then wake it up any black is afflicted with the same problem. Now if just the display goes to sleep (not the computer) and it gets woken up then the problem just occurs in video again. HELP! This computer should be able to display the color black.

Sounds like a video card issue.

  • PDf won't display using browser

How do I get my browser IE 10 to open a PDF file?  I cannot download a PDF file either.

I would just get a white blank screen. Here is what I did:
First change the defaults in Adobe by doing the following:
    Click "Start">All Programs>Adobe Reader>Edit>Preferences>Internet>Web Browser Options>Tick "Display PDF">OK and exit Adobe.
THEN you want to change the security options:
Open Internet Explorer(IE), Click "Tools">Adnvaced>Scroll  Down to Security and Uncheck"Do Not Save Encrypted Pages to Disk">Click apply or ok and exit.
This should work. You may have to restart your computer for it to take effect.
I had this problem after trying to install KIS(Kaspersky Internet Security) and in so doing was advised to reset my security to defaults which was a mistake as the issue was not with my computer but rather with Kaspersky's server as I was able to install it the next day. Resetting security to defaults could create a problem as you are setting settings that worked before and now do not. Anyway try my solution above and let me know if it works, which it should.

  • PDF won't display (please wait...)

I am trying to get a tax form to show with Adobe Reader. The form is available at https://ww2.revenue.wi.gov/Internet/wi_efile/2010/Form1-2010.pdf . The site says Reader 9.0 or above is needed. I have installed 9.4.2, the latest version available for Debian. When I attempt to open it, I just get a page that reads "Please wait... If this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of the document, your PDF viewer may not be able to display this type of document." Am I missing something?

It is a running joke that the acroread plugin crashes on linux.  It has been that way for years and looks set to be the same way forevermore.
However there is a fix and it isn't too difficult.  Locate and delete (or move) the file npwrapper.nppdf.so /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/npwrapper.nppdf.so on my system) this is the plugin that is so flaky and causes the problems.  Now you have no embedded acrobat reader? but there is a solution:
mozplugger - it is a bit old and unfashionable but it works everytime.  It can use acroread, evince, kpdf, gv or okular to actually do the display of the pdf inside your browser.  Personally I use okular despite the many bugs (stupid landscape printing bug, "can't zoom much" bug in okular etc etc).
mozplugger can do all sorts of other stuff such as embedded word docs via libre office etc - it is pretty cool and <just works>.
Watch out for your distro though - I'm using SUSE and it stupidly insists on installing yet another buggy npwrapper.nppdf.so every time it updates flash player.  If you have installed mozplugger you just need to delete npwrapper.nppdf.so again and all will be working A-ok.
If you use (k)ubuntu mozplugger is why this is never a problem!

  • Since upgrading Mavericks PDF won't display?

Just upgraded and now can't see PDF? Help

Usually a PDF is opened by Preview, a native OS X application in your Mac system.
If you have a portable document file on your desktop, single-click it so it is highlighted but not try to open it, and then use Get Info from the finder menu, and look into the detail box that should open; you can choose to select what application opens a PDF. Look for Preview and choose it to open all files like this.
Or, if you have a recent version of Adobe Reader for Mac OS X Mavericks 10.9.2, from the App Store perhaps or direct from Adobe software web site, you could choose that as the application to open all or a single PDF. I have Preview for some, set as my choice to open; and also use Adobe Reader to open others. Some files seem to have more content appear, or appear correctly, depending on what application was used to author it.
    PS: you've posted an 'intel-mac' question in a 'ppc-mac' area; I will
ask a host to move it to the correct one. We'll see where it goes.
    Hopefully this helps a bit.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • PDF files won't display. Error message "Missing Plug-ins"

Hello. I am having trouble with adobe reader but only certain files. When I first signed up for school in may Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Reader were required and when I did the check plug-ins system check, both were installed and running just fine. Just in the past 2 days is the check plug-ins test saying Adobe reader is not installed. I have tried un-installing and re-installing but still saying it is not installed. I'm not having troubl with all adobe reader files. I'm an online student and my e-books are opening and displaying just fine. Also my pdf documents saved on my computer are opening just fine. When I try to view a websites brochure, a websites sale paper, or maybe open up an article, the page pops up but the image won't display. It keeps saying "missing Plug-ins". I have a MAC 10.6.8. running on Safari and I have downloaded Adobe Reader 10.1.0. I need to be able to open up articles because I'm doing a homework assignment that requires one. If u can help in any way, please do.

I've tried all the fixes listed in the discussions about missing plug-ins in Mail.  None of them worked.  I can see attachements in the emails, but when I forward them, the missing plug-in shows up in place of the attachments on the forwarded email.  I'm running the latest OS 10.7 on my Mac Pro and I just downloaded the latest Java app.  HELP!!

  • Layered text and graphic in Word won't display when converted to PDF

I have several simple shapes with text layered in front in my Word document. After they are converted to PDF using Acrobat XI, only the shape will display. I can tell the text is still there, because I can use my cursor tool to select it, but it won't display visually. It looks like it isn't there but it really is. One bit of text is even an internal link, and the link still works but I can't see the text I'm clicking on.
If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it.
    Thank you,

Hi Lori - this was perfect! It was an issue with the layers being misordered. I used the Edit Text & Images tool listed under Tools > Content Editing, found the layers, then by right-clicking I was able to bring the text to the front and it all looks great now.
I would like to know why this happened, or if not why, how I could make sure it doesn't happen again. If there's a check box or other setting I could use to remove this problem that would be fantastic.
Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction!
    -Scott

  • Safari won't display pdf in browser

    Posted before in wrong forum.
I am really sorry if this has been posted before, but I have been searching the forums and can't find an answer to it. I was also looking for the FAQ article about this that Apple says is an answer, but can't find that either.
Anyway, using 10.4.11 and Safari 3.0.4. Safari won't display pdfs in the browser. It is gray with the Acrobat logo.
I remember reading that the solution is to uninstall (delete) Safari and reinstall 3.0.4. However, I cannot find an install for 3.0.4 for Mac, and then do something with Acrobat. I am using 3.0.4 because it was part of a bundled OS update. I can't go back and downgrade my OS...
    What do I do?

    Hi,
You probably won't have to reinstall Safari. Two things you can try. If you open Adobe Reader and go into the 'Internet' section of its preferences, you should be able to disable the browser plug-in. Some times that alone isn't enough, in which case, browse to HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins/ and move the Adobe plugin out of the folder. Restart Safari for the changes to take effect.

  • Since I got OS10.8.2 Safari won't display online PDF files?

Since I got OS10.8.2 Safari won't display online PDF files?
Can anyone tell me what the problem is?

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Din font won't display in pdf file since December update to version 11.0.10

I upgraded my Acrobat to version 11.0.10 just before the Christmas break. Din font is my corporate typeface and I used it yesterday to create an invoice in Mac Pages only to discover that I cannot view the pdf as the font won't display in Acrobat. And to add to the problem my clients who are using the same version of Acrobat are unable to view the font either on the pdf. It all worked fine before the upgrade.
What can be done to rectify the problem? I need to fix this asap.
This error message appears when I try and open the file "Cannot extract the embedded font 'DQPJNL+DIN-Medium'. S"
The DQPJNL bit changes depending on the file being opened but essential Din font won't display.

    Hi,
Please check if DIN font is embedded in your PDF by going to File > Properties > Fonts
If no, then you might need to go to 'Tools > Print Production > Preflight'
Then, open the PDF fixups section, click on Embed fonts fixup and choose 'Analyze and fix button'.
Please check and let me know if you are able to view the font now.

  • Iphone notes won't display attached pdf

I can create a note with an attached PDF (dragged from a Finder window) on my Mac laptop (10.9.4).  The note is synced through iClound and the attachment can be seen and opened on a second Mac laptop (10.9.4). On my iPad Air (IOS7) a paperclip symbol appears in the note.  On my iPhone 4S (IOS8) PDF document symbol appears in the note.  However, the attachment cannot be opened on either the phone or the tablet.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

I don't believe a PDF can be displayed within the Notes app on iOS devices...probably because you can't attach a PDF to a note using iOS in the first place.

  • Saved .pdf files won't open

On MacBook Air running OSX Mavericks I've saved .pdf files from the Web and from documents I've scanned.  For many .pdf documents I get a dialog box that says, "Contact your computer or network administrator for assistance."
That's nice, but I'm the only one here.  These are important documents I’ve saved for a reason.  Any ideas how to get them open?

    Thanks for the suggestion.
After more poking around I discovered the Sharing & Permissions setting in the Get Info dialog box were set to No Access.  I have no idea how that happened, but next time I save a .pdf I'll find whether the setting is part of the Save As dialog or not.
