Saved Wifi Passwords

HELP! I got a cool Chromecast for christmas. I know it works because I tried it out at my boyfriends house already with my laptop and his wifi. Now that I am back at my parents house, I do not remember their password for the wifi (even though my computer and my phone do). How do I retreive that password from either my Air or my iphone to help connect my Chromecast?

found how on WiKi Thanks though

  • How to view/sync saved WiFi passwords on C3?

I need a way to view / sync saved WiFi passwords in order to use them with another device.
Where they are stored on a C3, and how to recover them to a PC?

    @borga
If you are the Administrator of PC you could always get information from router or via Windows itself, but you are not going to be able to access passwords of all previously visited "hotspots".

  • Restore only saved wifi passwords after Network Settings reset

Hi, I did a Networks Settings reset without realising it would wipe my wifi passwords. I know they're in the backup on my iTunes, but I don't want to do a full backup and lose some recent data from other apps that's on my phone.  How can I restore the wifi passwords without restoring the whole backup and reverting the phone back to a previous state?  Thank you!

I know - as I said, they are in the backup.
And, how do you know that? Did you encrypt your backup? No where in anything you've posted so far have you stated such.
Regardless, the restore from backup process is all or nothing, & I'm not aware of any software that can extract data from an encrypted iPhone backup. So, if in fact your backup is encrypted, then your only option is to restore from that backup.

  • View saved WiFi passwords?

I have dozens of WiFi passwords stored on my iPod touch. To my knowledge, these passwords are hidden in a network settings database file. *Is there a way to properly view these without exhaustive hacking or jailbreaking?* Any help is much appreciated.

    In a word, no.

  • How can I see saved wifi passwords iPhone iOS5?

On the iPhone, is there a way to view stored wireless passwords?
A friend of mine forgets his wifi password and it would be far easier for me to look it up than for him to try and find the right menu in the router!
When I was there last I looked it up for him and added it to my phone to test it.

    Drat!
I was hoping there was a secret menu for "Keychain access".
How about a 3rd party app?
Or maybe a way to dig it out of the backup file(s) on my MAC?

  • AppleTV 3.0.1 not saving WiFi password

Ever since upgrading to 3.0 software, my AppleTV is constantly forgetting the password for my wifi access point. Doesn't require a reboot, sometimes just switching to a different source on my receiver and back to AppleTV causes the problem.

That usually happens because the ATV drops its wi-fi connection at random. The only way to resolve ATV wi-fi problems with certainty is to use an Ethernet cable. If you do a keyword search of this forum, you can read the rest of the 50 billion posts on this problem.

    It's not possible.

  • Lost wifi passwords

Does anyone have a work around to extract all the saved wifi passwords on my 3g iPhone? I upgraded to a 4 last night, but for some reason the passwords didn't transfer when I did a restore on the 4 from a backup that was completed immediately before. I know the network settings didn't just get wiped though as the 3g still connects to all the saved wifi spots automatically.
    Hope this makes sense.
    Thank you!

Unfortunately my computer is an iMac, so it has not traveled at all. My iPhone 3g has saved wifi passwords for dozens of secured AP's in all the various places I travel to such as my family and other relatives houses, work, friends places, etc.... easily 20+ memorized wifi passwords. I'll essentially be dealing with this for weeks/months, as each time I go within range of one of the saved/remembered secured AP's, the phone tries to join but comes up and prompts me "the password for network 'xxxx' is invalid, please reenter" type message. It's almost as if the setting to "auto join network with SSID xxxxx" transferred, but with a blank/incorrect WEP/WPA key.
Any other ideas? So to summarize, I upgraded last night from a 3g to a 4, however my saved wifi passwords did not transfer. I completed the transfer by doing a backup of the 3g to my iMac, then plugged in the 4 and restored the backup. Otherwise, everything seems to have transferred just dandy.
Is anyone else seeing this, or am I alone?
    Thank you!

  • Iphone 5 is not saving the passwords for wifi

I have the problem every time i shut of the wifi or i'm out the the signal of the wifi connection.
When i re-enter my house or when i turn on the wifi i need to make connection the manual way with the password.
My iphone 4 S saved a the wifi password by it self but i can think of what im doing wrong with this 5
    please help

Reset the device by pressing and holding the home and power buttons until the white Apple logo appears.
Also, ensure there is actually storage capacity on the device available to save those pictures.
Use the device as designed, copy those 926 pictures off the device to a computer for safe keeping.  Then delete them from the Camera Roll and sync back only the one's you want/need on the device.

  • WRT110 WIFI password problem

    Hi Everyone,
I've got a very strange problem.  First, I indicated WPA under Wireless Security section and typed in my passphrase.  However when connecting to my wireless network name my passphrase never worked.  Second, I completely disabled security and tried to simply connect without any passphrase, but I was still being asked for a passphrase nonetheless.  I checked and double-checked and saved settings making sure security was disabled, but I was still being asked for a passphrase when choosing my wireless network!
I could probably restore my WRT110 to factory settings, however I don't want to loose other configurations like certain open ports and IP addresses I opened up for firewall.
Is there a way for me to resolve my WiFI password problem without restoring to factory default?  I just need to figure out how to make the WiFi passpharse work.  Here's what I have there:
    Security Mode: WPA Personal
    Encryption: TKIP
    Passphrase: 0sunspot0
    Key Renewal: 3600 seconds
However, when I pick my wireless network and try to connect to it by typing in 0sunspot0, I get authentication failure!
    Am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks,
    Victor.

Is the router up and running and you would only want to add a device wirelessly? If so, you may access the setup page as sabretooth has said. To check the wireless settings, you may check this link, http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=476326f36c294e579ba6691a8db5411e_3698.xml&pid=80&r...

  • Where do I find my WiFi password if I forgot it?

I bought an I-Pad and am setting it up. I clicked United States and English..now I'm on the screen that wants my Wi-Fi password, which I don't remember....how do I get a new password for my WiFi, or get past this screen?

Sorry, but your question really has nothing to do with Firefox support!
There is no version of Firefox that is made for the iPad.
You posted here with Windows 8.1 and Firefox 36.0 - is that a laptop that has WiFi?
If so, maybe you saved your Password for that router in Firefox??
See this - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/password-manager-remember-delete-change-passwords#w_viewing-and-deleting-passwords - to learn how to '''view''' your Passwords in Firefox.

  • How to save a wifi password?

how do you save a wifi password so you don't have to put the password in everytime to connect?

The password for a wi-fi network should be saved with the wi-fi network settings are successfully joining the network.
Is this a personal wi-fi network, or a public wi-fi network that requires signing in to the network with a website?

  • Wifi passwords missing from Mavericks keychain

In OS X 10.8 and previous, all my wifi passwords were stored in my keychain, and were viewable in keychain access.
Following my upgrade of the OS to Mavericks, I now can't locate or view any wifi (AirPort) network passwords that were previously saved in my OS keychain.
I DON'T have iCloud keychain activated, and never had.
Please can someone help me out with this issue?
Thank you in advance for any assistance that you're able to provide!

I had the same issue just now, but I found the solution.
You need to select a different keychain in the top left of the window.
normally "login" is selected, and I found the wifi passwords in "Local Items".
    hope that helps others.

  • Can't see my wifi passwords anymore

Under Snow Leopard, I could go to System Preferences > Network > Advanced > Edit and see all of my saved wifi usernames and passwords.  Because it was so easy, we haven't written them down (doh. Lesson learned).  Now that I've upgraded to Lion, the "edit" button isn't there.   I've searched for this issue and people allude to using Keychain Access to see the passwords, but I don't see any network passwords in Keychain Access.
Can someone let me know how I can see/recover my existing stored wifi passwords under Lion?  Thanks!
    HB

With login selected in the left column under Keychains and passwords selected under Category I can see this:
Tick Show password, and supply master reveals the network password.

    Colin R.
